Samsung Note 5 SM-N9208 with tripped KNOX - No Problem at all... - Galaxy Note5 General

Hi everyone,
I am a troubled owner of a Note 5 Duos SM-N9208 . The guy who owned it before me had some custom rom installed popping Knox counter to 0x05 (not 0x1 yet recognized by Samsung My KNOX). The phone is from Malaysia and I am using it in Greece.
For those thinking to knock the knox, I can assure you that the only functionality that is destroyed is Warranty and Samsung Pay which is not available anywhere except USA and Korea samsung-pay and for specific banks.
I can use Note 5 for NFC payment as long as the device is not rooted. I know you don't like it either but it is a regulation that the device has to be at least not-rooted.
Piraeus bank didn't care about Knox and installed properly the NFC service
i68.tinypic.com/156tgqt.png
Also, all security features regarding theft of the phone are working properly and tested through findmymobile.samsung.com if you have registered the device and you have an active Samsung account you can happily enjoy everything
i68.tinypic.com/2n0q6wk.jpg
So, the only thing lost was some 150 euros from the value of the device in case I want to sell it or exchange it.

Actually, NAB bank in Australia will check the knox/root status of mobile, you cannot open the app if you have rooted. but CBA is ok

I was in Singapore a couple of weeks ago and Samsung Pay is widely used there.

The one thing I see most annoying is the fact that Samsung does not repair your phone if it is from another region.
I bought it in Malaysia and now I am in Europe...
I would really like to fix the phone to KNOX 0 since I bought it dirty cheap and but don't trust doing banking with Custom software installed.
So i choose between
poor power management which needs twice a day charging because of KNOX and Stock rom
Excellent battery behavior but no NFC...
I chose 1 for now... but two would be great to have too...

Go flash stock and super su. Or something.. You will never get Samsung pay . your battery is bad because you are on custom firmware without supersu. It is a bug

I am on stock rom and immediately after rooting it went to Custom and lost NFC
It would be very helpful if you could point me a way to keep NFC and restore power behavior of deep sleep. So far I tested Dr. Ketan's fix and indeed it works and battery went to 2 days without disabling anything. But lost NFC as you can see in the screen shot. Then it would be realy NO Problem at all. I believe Android Pay will not ask for KNOX when it come to Greece. Currently I have to Unroot through SmartSwich to enable NFC

That has never happened to me before.... Only lost deepsleep.. When I rooted. Hmm... I don't think android pay will work for you either as you rooted. If you rooted. Go to a custom rom. Because even on stock with the latest beta su. I have my NFC... Always have.

After your comment, I did an experiment. With stock and official I installed TWRP. Phone went to Custom and NFC disappeared. Then I installed new kernel for 9208 from Sickness UBERTC 5.3 and VOILA .!!!!!! NFC and proper power handling...

The "myknox" functionality which is having 2 separate work spaces is also lost after root, right? Or does it work after root nd bootloader unlock also?

[Q] Question regarding rooting+custom rom (Australia delivered version)

Hi Guys
im new to this whole rooting business, i rooted my S3 when i had it a year ago using odin and that worked flawlessly, but now i've forgotten almost all of it, since the note 3 is a relatively new device, i would like some inputs on it,
1. how do i root it?, best software to use including which one, for an Australia delivered note 3 (if it makes any difference, since there are lots of diff versions and kernals available)
2. i would like to flash to x-note 3 v6.0, will that be okay for the Australian version of the note 3.
3. and the process of installing x-note v6.0 rom onto it.
Thanks alot in advance for any input.

Easiest Root for N915G

So, I was going to use Cf-Auroroot like I have for every other Samsung device I've got but apparently there's an issue with it for the N915G.
What I did was put the latest super su file (i used v2.40) on my external SD card and then in Odin flash the latest TWRP recovery from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/easy-steps-stock-odin-n915tuvu1anjl-sm-t2943993 (you can also use the sd card fix from here too, flash in TWRP, just install supersu, then add another flash file and install the sd card fix).
Go to recovery mode and flash super su.
I found it had an error flashing cache but a factory reset fixed this so best done BEFORE setting everything up.
Let phone reset, set it up and you now have root access with a clean install of stock rom.
Happy days.
This worked fine for me and left out the step of flashing CF-Autoroot which wasn't needed.
You will still trip Knox.
I don't know if this will work flawlessly for you or for all models, especially if the bootloader is locked, but theoretically it should.
Good luck guys, happy flashing.
And HAPPY NEW YEAR...

You should not have many issues with 5.0.1. What you need to do after flashing the 5.0.1...you need to reset to factory setting. Im sure by now you know when upgrading..you still keep data from the kitkat. This may cause conflict and issues. At the moment the only issue i had is sometime i get that contact closed notifications. I have google this issue...seem like it happen to other phones to with early 5.0.1. For me im ok...cause it only happen very rarely...i hope a much later lollipop will fix this issues.

Possibly flashing the modem and non-HLOS.bin for AT&T.
I can't really say as I live in Oz and have no problems with voice calls...
I do find that my bars don't tend to go over 3 or more than halfway but that could be due to where I live and the crappy coverage we get here... No problem with voice calls though...
I am not sure if I can install SM-N915A modem on 915G.
Can someone confirm if that is possible, if so, what version?
tell me one thing is xposed framework and freedom app now working on note edge 915G lollipop

Samsung Pay on rooted S8

Hello, I just installed TRWP and custom firmware, so my knox obviously is broken. I was wondering is there a way to make samsung pay work yet? Or maybe Android pay? I really liked nfc payments.
If you have a gear watch you may be able to sideload an older version of SPay onto each and have a working SPay on your watch.
Not sure if that technique works for this device or only non Samsung devices though...
But otherwise, no you won't have working SPay on your 0x1 device. Android Pay probably, yes.

The way Android Pay works is by using a check called SafetyNet. Magisk fools the system with root by being a systemless root so nothing is tampered with, and in a nutshell, SafetyNet passes its checks and such Android Pay works.
Samsung Pay uses a different set of checks which fail majority of the time. There's been a few instances where people have been able to use Samsung Pay with the use of Magisk but is patched rather quickly.

Samsung Pay stores info in KNOX, so blowing your e-fuse kills Samsung Pay for the life of the device. Doubt there's a way around it.

Still not possible to get it to work with a rooted tripped phone?

Also flashing stock and locking doesn't revert this? How does this fuse work? Is it hardware or how come you can't just flash the original?

It's a fuse located on mainboard which is being "blown" after unlocking the bootloader / rooting. So there's no way to revert this unless you change the mobo on it.... Which I doubt ?
With Magisk, Android Pay is working flawlessly. I'm using it all the time on Note8 port.

Nope and never will work. It's a hardware efuse on the main board of the phone. It's literally trips and burns out. You can't flash stock or anything to revert it.
The only way you can revert it is to buy a new motherboard.

You can use samsung pay on your gear s3 on a rooted phone by hiding samsung pay (gear) in magiskhide and setting it up like normal, make sure you pass safetynet

Unfortunately, once you rooted your Sammy device you can't get features such as Samsung Pay back due to the blown e-fuse. However, rooting with Magisk will let you use Google Pay. I've been using it basically every day for the past 6 months and not once have I missed Samsung Pay. If by any chance your phone doesn't pass the SafetyNet check there is always modules such as MagiskHide Props Config which will let you change your fingerprint to a certified one, therefore passing the SafetyNet check.

Somewhere along the way I kinda stopped counting bricks ...
Yes we can only charge to 80% I found a method to get higher. I wouldn't trade root for anything on this device. It makes it bearable. I run modded TouchWiz and viper. Ui tweaks. There's very little you can do to really brick your phone as we still have locked bootloader Most hard bricks are recoverable. I prefer rooted nougat over pie any day of the week.
Btw bricks are fun. Fun to figure out why and how to recover.

The bricks part xD, is the charging over 80 stable tho, can you post the method?
Another thing, charging over 80 isn't recoverable by just reflashing the official stock(ie unrooted and all), right?

Yea it is. It a limit implemented by the kernel we need for rooting. Once the stock firmwares kernel is flashed back all undone. No tripped Knox.

Once you've done this a few times it's like first nature

Hey I've read smth about a 80% charge limit after tripping knox, but couldn't seem to find anything about it in the root threads, is it true and are there any other limits besides the unusability of knox required apps and some banking apps...?
Thanks in advance .

Which model do you have. You can't trip Knox on the us 950Us. And the 950fs do not have the charge limit. If you flash back stock Samsung pay and all the banking apps will work again on the 950u

ive never had root bite me in the ass. ive had mistakes ive made due to not reading enough before installing and tweaking a mod, but thats not roots fault.

When most people post about the 80% limit I assume they have a 950 U
