Ever since the last security update, my 6p is on fire. I use it a lot and it's never gotten this hot before. When it's this hot, it also takes a lot longer to charge. I end up powering it off to cool down so it charges faster when I need it.

Only thing I can suggest is to do a factory reset and/or manually flash the July factory image.

With every electronic gadget using Lithium-ion batteries nowadays, it doesn't really matter how/when you charge it.
Some would argue to make sure to allow a full discharge from a full charge from a battery calibration point of view, so the battery meter is more accurate. It wouldn't affect the health of the battery itself either way.
Things like memory effect doesn't apply to lithium-ion. How often you charge it and how much you charge it (full or partial charge etc.) doesn't affect it much either. The only 2 things that can potential kill a lithium-ion is high temperature and letting it discharge far too low to the point that it cannot be charged up again. Note that all electronic devices will power off way before it even reaches this threshold.

Read this in a different thread when i was unboxing my nexus 7, i let mine sit for a while on the charger before i turned it on, but it came charged already. So far i have not let my nexus drain to 0% and the battery life on it is great, it can go for a entire day.

I too just got one. May be came out of the box with 4.2. After I signed in I checked for an update manually, and it immediately upgraded to 4.2.1. I then rooted immediately! Battery has been impressive so far.

No luck for me i guess it shows that there is an update it downloads it and boot into recovery attempts to install but then an android robot laying down whit his chest open and a red triangle appears ?

Sounds like it may be a corrupt download. Unless you plan to remain on the stock ROM just unlock/root it and then install what ever ROM you like.

It happened to my device yesterday too. But after that upgrade disappeared so i can't get update. Did you redownload it? If you did, can you tell me how can i?
EDIT:
I found website for to redownload way (i can't share url because i haven't 10 post) and i have tried twice but every time android robot laying down whit his chest open and a red triangle appears and i can't update. Can someone know why it is happened?
Today i want to work and put the device in a drawer. never touched it during the whole shift but one phone call. during a five hour period 30% of the battery was wasted. bbs showed audioout_2 wakelock took place for 5 hours. screen time was 30 minutes. I haven't kept any screen shots from bbs but i did capture on system battery usage.
what could have caused it?

STOCK EVERYTHING .
not even rooted or bootloader unlocked. An out of the box Nexus 4 16GB (301k),.
Perhaps there's a corrupted media file somewhere in the storage system.

I have no media files on my storage, all my music is via GOOGLE PLAY.
(the wakelock is not caused by google play because since I booted the phone I have not listened to any music)
There seems to be a fix for the problem, haven`t used it myself though. Link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050252. Its a init.d script at boot and you need root.
I wish to avoid rooting my device. when I bought the nexus I wanted to have a vanilla Google experience.
Also I don't wanna void my warranty.

Not rooting a Nexus is like forbidding the Pope to pray But to each his own.
Yeah I know, I think I'll root if i hear reports that rooted devices can receive official google updates

I remember one time, I left a game without closing the game. 5 hours later my battery dipped and I tried to figure out why. I realized that the game was still running in the background and drained a good 30% of my battery because of the mediaserver. I know it was still actice cuz when I hit recent it picked up exactly where I left off with no lag jumping back into it.
I'm guessing the game isn't coded to freeze in the background when you leave it. I could be wrong, but this is one possibility I think.
I'm on PA, with the matrix kernel. The game is called PAD in case anyone wants more info. I say, just be sure to exit games or generally certain apps when you finish playing them.
This only happened once and since then never again since I started closing that particular app correctly. Also, I don't mess with any music volume booster mods. Just get some noise isolating earbuds/headphones. The volume booster mods definitely killed battery much quicker than it was worth with my first nexus 4
I close everything and still got 1.5h of AudioOut_2 and AudioOut_3 wakelock overnight . 20% battery drain overnight. normally my battery drains 5-6% overnight.
up
Maybe there is a corrupt file on your phone, it doesn't have to be music, could also be a ringtone or a video.
considering you don't want to root I would consider factory reset then reinstall 1 app at a time until you find the culprit. I know it's time consuming but it's either that or keep your charger handy

All of a sudden I noticed two things. 1 my 128gb SD card is only using 5gb and my s7 edge is charging slowly. #2 is says that 27gb of the 32gb is being used. I transferred as many apps as I could to SD card.
To no avail. HELP!

As for the fast charging goes make sure the cord is pushed into the charger all the way. Then try plugging it into the phone a couple of times. You might just need a new cable. I had a cable that stopped initiating the fast charge feature.
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers mobile app
You need to replace the usb cable.

My phone does read/show "FAST CHARGING" but while I'm keeping an eye on it, seems to be slow af. Not something that I am used to seeing as far as a average fast charge would go.

It should charge withing 90 minutes. 50% every 30 minutes. It may seem like it takes forever when you starring at it. But same thing happens with time, you stare at it and you find yourself going slow through time. It does charge 50% in 30 minutes. If it doesn't and a new cable don't help I'm afraid you got a lemon.
¡what a day, what a LOVELY DAY!!

Since today my 6P doesn't want to charge via the included charger. It does charge with the extra charger that I bought in the Play Store but, it only displays 'charging' instead of 'fast charging'. Charging also works via computer usb port.
Tested both chargers with my brother's 6P and both do Fast Charging on his device.
What could be the problem?

Simple reboot fixed mine the one time this happened.
Seems like a reboot did the trick. Did scare the hell out of me, when the issue occurred.

Even I am facing this issue and reboot didn't solve the problem.. It took 6 hrs to recharge the phone from 2% using stock charger.. Facing this issue from last 10 days

When that happened to me I had to RMA the phone.
Fast Charging
I have noticed that the fast charger really don't charge fast at all. Once in a blue moon I'll notice that it's working like it should but majority of the time, it takes as long as a regular charge. My note 4 is twice as fast. Two of my friends have said the same exact thing. Is anyone else noticing this?
Sent from my SM-P600 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I have only charged the replacement once and i did notice it took longer. The phone was off mind you and it hasn't been used but i noticed that.
I hope they didn't slow it down

I have definitely noticed a difference in charging speed with my replacement note 7. My first one charged much faster than this one does. I think they must of put a limitation on them to help with battery issues.
