On the iPhone, the touch ID sensor disallows itself from unlocking the phone after a certain amount of time, and requires a passcode to unlock the device, for security reasons.
Nexus imprint does this, but only after the phone has done a reboot. Is there a way to put a timer on it like touch ID?

Hi All
My new 6P arrived and my favourite feature is the Imprint sensor to turn on screen and simultaneously lock it. Having my phone be alive when i pick it up and screen off when I don't is a real feature - what I was wondering is could we use the Imprint sensor to get around the problem where you're browsing and your screen turns off due to display time out. If it were possible to have the imprint act as a "keep the screen on, I'm using it" button it would be fantastic.
Anyone know if this is possible?
Ric
That's exactly how mine works. Finger on the Imprint and the phone comes on and unlocks. If the screen times out and goes off, putting finger back on the imprint switches it back on unlocked where it was.

It does wake up when you touch the Imprint sensor, but it I'm reading a doc and don't want the screen to time out whilst I'm doing it, keeping my finger on the sensor doesn't keep the screen on, which is what I'm after...
Maybe "Stay Alive" or a similar app from the play store might help? I haven't used it for a while but if I remember correctly, you can select apps that when active, will keep the screen from turning off.

Hi! As many others, I am really happy with the S7Edge. I encountered one problem with the Smart Lock functionality though which I really find annoying.
I am using my Pebble as trusted bluetooth device. Now, when I turn off my Pebble (while the phone's screen is off), the phone should lock, right? Well, it doesn't. I am still able to turn it on one time. Only when going into standby mode for the 2nd time it requires my finger print / code in order to unlock.
It does work correctly on a Nexus device so I assume this is caused by a bad implementation by Samsung? Can anyone here confirm this behavior?
Thank you in advanced!

I can confirm you that SmartLock is crap ! I have set my car as trusted device, my headhones too and fav locations, and regularly I have to use the fingerprint or the schema.

Smart Lock works fine for me. I've never had to use a fingerprint or pin when my phone is connected to a registered BT device. I don't use locations, so can't comment on that.
Does going to lock screen and security>other security setting>trusted agents toggle smart lock off?
I am wondering if I can mimic the lock screen behavior from my s2 with my s5 (neo if that matters)
On my s2, if I pick lock after 5 minutes, if I turn the screen back on before then, it doesn't make me reinput my pattern yet, but it does make me swipe to unlock. Can I make the s5 do this, instead of absolutely no lock at all until the 5 minutes pass?
I just really like this behavior and I would like to enable it on s5. So basically swipe to unlock until after 5 minutes, then I have to draw my pattern again.
If anyone has any suggestions would be appreciated! (Without just telling me to use thumb print, I'd rather use the pattern)

Check lock screen settings. There should be an option to choose when to lock the phone. I think there are certain time intervals.
I found that... But to choose an interval, there's literally no security until that time goes by. Like to power the screen on just stays exactly where it was.
My older style, on the s2 requires a swipe to unlock, until after 5 minutes then it needs me to redraw my pattern. This was what I was hoping to mimic.
Just feels like it would be too easy to do things by accident while in your pocket, with no lock at all. The s2 offers the perfect middle ground

I hate the stock Lockscreen. Always been one of the poor designs aspects of Android. I'm actually on an LG G6 right now and SO frustrated that you can't setup a fingerprint without enabling the System Lock Screen. Some 3rd party screens (MS Next, Hi Locker, etc) support fingerprint unlock but you can't use them without also enabling system lock screen. Argh!!
I'm still within 14 days so thinking of returning G6 and getting an S8+.
So I'm trying to find out if the system lock screen requirement when setting up a fingerprint is a Marshmellow feature or a G6 feature. Can you disable the system lock screen on the S8 WITHOUT deleting the registered fingerprint ?
I on an android up to date s10+ with fingerprint & camera unlocking. Regularly my phone asks me to use pin code rather than finger or camera, why is that ?
