Cannot back up kofi configuration - Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have been at it for hours, refuses to back up.
IF I try backing up to my computer it goes through the motions, then when it comes time to write rars it pops up an error that the path is not available to be written to and terminates.
Tried the dropbox thing, went through the trouble of setting up an account, and app, secret password ect, then it pops up "check log for url to validate" or something, have no idea what log I am supposed to look at.
Tried sdcard and I thought that worked, took about 5 minutes and then wrote the rars - Created a few directories, Android, Lost.DIR, system volume info and Voice - Problem is, none of these folders contain anything, so though it went through the motions of backing up it didn't write anything.
Am using "Backup" addon - Have even worse luck with "xml backup", which instantly returns errors for anything I try.
Hard to see why a simple task like this is like pulling teeth, any suggestions ?

Storage memory is critically low

I'm getting that message.
The funny thing is, I haven't added anything to storage memory in a while. I got the phone a few weeks ago and installed everything I needed then - there was around 6MB remaining of storage.
However, whilst I'm driving today, I get an SMS and have a look and it shows me this critically low warning. I got home and tried to delete all my SMS but the phone decided to crash. After rebooting it didn't load all the today plugins properly, so I decided to reboot using SPB Pocketplus's safemode. I press the safemode option during boot and it says it will boot in safe mode but all it does is reset itself again and start in normal mode.
When it starts in normal mode it shows the critically low warning and freezes - I can't close the warning or do anything about it.
Does anyone know what could have caused this all of a sudden? Considering I had several MB free earlier today and haven't added anything to it myself... Also, what on earth can I do to fix this problem? It says to remove some programs but I can't when the device isn't responding or going into safemode...
Do a search for big files - also check your documents in case you've inadvertently recorded a lot of nothing (as I've done in the past) - also I believe temp internet files and remote desktop caching can take up quite a bit.

At the time it was impossible to search for any files - the device wasn't responding at all once it had booted up. However, I managed to connect it to my PC and access it remotely - even though the device's GUI wasn't responding and I had indeed recorded a load of nothing when it had been woken in my pocket by the SMS. Needless to say that button is now disabled.
Thanks for the reply, it's sorted now. Well, as sorted as you can get with the universal's minescule amount of memory
If you spend a lot of time surfing the net, your cache will fill up the space. Try to flush the cache and search for big files too. You should use SKTOOLS, is the best.
how
Daft question but where is the cache info stored. I can find may way around but I am not that technical. I am having the memory problem too. I have nothing on my device but its full. I have a map program on the card and thats it.
To clear your PIE cache, open PIE go to the menu and selct tools, options and then select the memory tab and click the delete files button. It will probably take a while. A easier way to manage this cache, in my opinion, is to purchase and install SKTools(a fantasic app for many uses) and run the quick clean program. I have the quick clean app mapped to a keyboard combo (using freeware PQZII) so it's very easy to free up memory.

Error message on startup - 'quickmenu' cannot be opened

Hi All.
I recently installed a little program QuickMenu v2.8 just to try it out. (it displays a drop down menu of items, not to dissimilar to the windows desktop start menu)
However i didn't personally like it, so i uninstalled it in the normal way you would uninstall ANY other program you want to remove.
However every time i reboot my HD2 now, i get the following error message:
'The file 'QuickMenu' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file'
Clearly the unstall has either left crap behind, OR has deleted something that it shouldn't have? - & 'reinstalling' it is not what i want to do.
After clicking the 'ok' ..the error goes away, and the phone seems to work fine & the start menu opens in the way it did before installing the prog (large scrolling icons). The phone seems to have no other problems.
However, seeing this error message is beginning to annoy me.
How can i fix the problem to remove the garbage left behind or repair the damage the uninstall caused.
Will i need some registry editor?
Look forward to your wise words for a fix.
Many thanks
Hyper
you may go and check \windows\startup folder, QuickMenu.lnk link may still there. If there, just delete it

Can't copy MP3 to device....or can I?

Ok, obviously an easy task. Done it before have a couple dozen songs on my storage card now, and they all transfered easily a couple months ago.
Now, I want to finish my collection and transfer a couple hundred songs over, so i figured, same thing i did to transfer the first hundred or so.
I open my music folder, i open my storage card/music folder. highlight, drag and drop. I get a message pop up saying "this file may not be able to play on this device do you want to copy anyways?" I say yes, another popup saying
"Cannot copy <title> The device has stopped responding or has been disconnected"
So i figured i'm screwed and can't copy them over and i head here for an answer, here's the twist.....
I check the "do this for all files" when "cannot copy" box comes up and i tell it to skip copying all files. I let it go and lo an behold, even tho i told it to SKIP copying all files. They appear and are working properly on my device, artwork and all.
TL;DR-
Get error saying can't copy music, device is not responding or disconnected. Tell it to skip copying all music. Copies all of it anyways completely successfully.
::EDIT:: Basically, I'm just wondering if anyone has had this before, or would know why this is happening? Even tho i still get the result i want.. it's kind of irritating.
I've had the "This file may not be able to play on this device do you want to copy anyways?" dialog which is normal if your USB>PC is set to ActiveSync. You might want to try setting it to DiskDrive and see if that behavior goes away.

+1...for transferring media files, it's almost always best to do it in disk drive mode, and much faster that way.

Need help! Can't install anything. Apps not loading correctly.

This is actually the second Atrix I've had this problem on. I'm wondering if someone smarter than me with Android OS has had any experience or knows how to fix this.
It all started when I was moving some apps over the "media area." One of them didn't complete/move and gave me an error. Suddenly nothing that had been moved over to the media area was accessible. None of those programs would load and after a reboot, they didn't show up in the app list. Also almost all of the listed apps kept saying "calculating" under how much memory they used. Plus the option to move any program to the "media area" was no longer available - meaning it was grayed out. Several reboots did not correct the problem.
I factory reset and the result is that I couldn't download/install anything from the market. I would press the install button on any app and it would just sit there and do nothing.
I tried to unmount the "media area" but that hangs too and sometimes gives me an error.
However, I can use a file explorer and actually see files in the "media area" move files around, copy, and delete files. So it doesn't seem to be an issue with the internal storage/media area. I don't know enough about android to figure it out, but seems to be a problem with how the apps are registered. Is there a way to fix it?
I've also already tried to flash the original sbf and that didn't fix the problem. I've also tried the restore android/wipe cache area when you hold the down volume plus power button. I've run out of suggestions and am looking for more before I have to take another Atrix back. Granted I had a LOT of apps loaded, but there shouldn't be a problem with that. Also after the flash the apps in the apps manager keep saying "calculating..." on their size.
Help?

[Q] MTP ruined 3.2

It's my birthday and the day of a big problem. So please assist ;-)
Been transfering movie files from PC to Tab via USB/MTP. The process was going fine until the last file to be copied. Then Tab lost connection. Reconnected the cable. Tried to copy the last file. Then Tab hung. Absolutely.
I disconnected USB cable and rebooted the TAB. It showed the Samsung animation, then "samsung" title, some gargabe at the bottom of the screen and .. that last forever.
Well, rebooted once again. Same situation, but screem garbage moved to top.
Well, 3rd reboot and .. whoa, eventually it booted!
But ... it asked me to introduce myself (e.g. enter e-mail, ...) and enter Google prefeences (just like with a fresh new tab). Skipped it (Hacker's keyboard was already not working - couldn't type in).
Then the desktop arrived. My God, it's absolutely brand new. All my settings and icons disappeared.
Went to Applications - they all seem to survive. But don't work. Almost all of them crash when you start them. Some very simple and built-in apps work though.
The Contacts disappear as well. Just like E-mail.
Remember I started this message with that I was transferring files? Well, they're not visible. Even their new folder is missing. But the storage is used exactly to the size of those files. All 10Gb. I tried to delete its parent folder (say, "/sdcard/Movies"). Free storage barely changed (only for the size of existing files).
Well, it's ruined. My lovely and so customized Tab. Damn.
So the very dumb questions are:
- What's that? Broken filesystem? How came? How to check/fix?
- How to save app settings (that's ALOT, include data for my kids' paid games)?
- Where Touch Wiz and other settings actually stored? I suspect there must be a system database (saw an error from "SQlite" when FBReader crashed).
Well, I could wipe everything, but not sure it would solve the filesystem problem and would take muuuuuuuuch time. And we don't have ICS rolled out for Russia yet, so that would be a very time wasting process.
p.s. Titanium backup doesn't start too. Moreover, everytime I install something it crashes again ;-)
You might try setting up your gmail account, the initial thing that you skipped. I'm just guessing, but perhaps you need the account active to use apps that might be linked to your account on the market.
Also, again, this is just a guess, but if your movies are DRM protected, is it possible you can't access because it thinks you are a different user?
Just some thoughts. Quite possibly useless, but maybe worth a shot. Good luck!
Later,
Jason
Go to settings/ apps and force stop Samsung Media Scanner... Worked on mine a while back, hopefully that will fix the problem for you... Good luck!

Something very similar happened to me when I was trying to watch a movie off of an sd card with the adapter. I ended up having to re-flash a stock image through Odin and re tweak everything (Rom, re-download apps...everything. Sucks that I lost all my progress in games etc. but it made me re-evaluate what apps I really used and needed so now it's running faster and smoother than ever. I even decided against using pershoot's overclocking kernel (for now) as everything feels so fresh and so clean, and it seems unnecessary.

Something got corrupted. It could have been app databases like you suggest. Sounds pretty reasonable. I hate to say it but you may want to hard reset and see if the issue persist. If it does persist after a hard reset then you have a defective device
Do you have a nandroid backup of your setup?
