Is my hard drive dying? - Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I recently updated my shield pro to the latest release and afterwards I loaded the internal drive with a lot of content. I would say the drive went from being 30% full to 80% after I was done (mostly movies and TV shows).
Later that night the unit did a hard reboot and upon loading back up the main menu took a while to propagate the app icons and whatnot. However once it was done the experience seemed fine....until it rebooted again.... and randomly after that some more.
Right now I have it doing a "full" reset (says it could take 2 hours). We'll see what happens after that. I am not looking forward to reinstalling and copying everything back again.

Won't boot past android animation...

Hey, I have a rooted a500 and i just installed vtl launcher. I turned off the tablet and when i turned it back on it won't get past the android boot animation. I can still plug the usb in to my computer and view files. I have attempted to run the update.zip without any success.
I could use a little assistants.
I no longer have an acer a500, however, I believe the VTL launcher is what caused the same problem on my acer. I ended up exchanging it for the xoom since I was still on the 14 day trade in through Bestbuy. Hopefully you'll have better luck than I did and someone here can assist with a fix.
This happened to me - twice. (Yes, I am an idiot).
First time, I left the device charging over night while off and with the sd card removed. The next morning I rebooted it and left it, and it eventually rebooted. (It would play notifications for emails I had received during the night, which was a good sign). I did a factory reset and everything was fine.
Second time, I installed the Acer drivers on my computer and connected it up via adb. It could read the sd card fine. I played around with some adb commands - I tried to uninstall the app via adb, but I couldn't access my /data/apps folder ("permission denied").
I can't remember exactly what I typed, but it might have been "remount" or something, and suddenly it booted up. I just uninstalled VTL Launcher, and all is well.
Sorry I couldn't be more specific on how I did it, I honestly can't remember.

[Q] Says Device Storage is full......

I installed Swype Beta last night before I went to bed last night. When I went to bed last night I had over 8gigs free on the device. This morning when I woke it up, there is a warning at the bottom of the screen that says the device is "Low on space". When going into the settings and looking at the storage settings, it now says that I have 14.83mb of free space left. Any idea what could have caused this? I have uninstalled the Beta of Swype and that has not done anything. I have looked through all the installed apps and there is nothing showing in the list that is that large.
It is running stock at this point. I have gotten the update to push it to 141.07.
Any ideas what this might be? Any ideas on how I can fix this?
Thank you in advance for any input provided.
I believe this has cropped up for a couple of other people as well; the only solution I recall from the top of my head is to do a factory reset, which loses user data so back up what you need to.
One thread suggested checking your tablet for a lot of media files first.
We figured out, that this problem is caused by a really big tombstone. But we still don't know, what created this tombstone...
Edit: If your tablet is rooted, you can search for the file under root:/data/tombstones and just delete it ^^
Had the same issue.. could not install anymore programs on the SD card, reporting it was full. Itried everything. I ended up doing a factory reset. My unit is not rooted.

Is this hardware issue? (Video)

Well it looks like I'll still have to send my S8 Plus in for service. I've tried wiping the cache, factory resetting, no SD card, new SD card, no apps and after getting a suggestion on here yesterday morning I tried redoing the software with Smart Switch program on my PC. I also set the phone back up from scratch, so not to bring anything over to new set up. It seemed to work for a day but today has started locking up again. I took a video this time...I was browsing YouTube when it locked up completely and wouldn't respond at all. I waited several minutes before even taking the video. Only way to get it to respond was to force restart with side buttons. Power or Bixby wouldn't work. Could this be a hardware issue?

Random reboots/restart...what's the latest on how to fix this?

My stock S7 exhibits random reboot behavior. 1-2x per week. Once in a while it happens 2x in one day. Once it a while it happens at the most inopportune time, like when I'm trying to take a picture of an event. When the reboot occurs usually it boot loops several times (and the phone gets warm while this is happening) and then finally stops. For the first year or so of owning the phone, no reboot problems. I did see the unmounted SD card notification issue that others reported (with a Samsung SD card). A while after the nougat update and after the 1 yr warranty period of course....random reboots. Also after the boot loops stop and I'm able to use my phone again, my Spotify login is lost and I have to re-download my playlists that I had saved locally. This is a real PITA if I'm traveling and not near any wifi connection.
Any ideas?
I've done the following:
- factory reset twice
- removed the SD card, not using it anymore -> I could consistently get the phone to reboot when scrolling through my pics in google photos. I do not get this behavior anymore with the sd card removed
- install a minimal amount of apps
I've read countless search results from Google search results and nothing has solved my problem. I'm past the 1 yr warranty period. I called a local shop and was told the cost of replacing the mainboard pretty high, I'm better off just getting a new phone...which I would like to avoid. Today I disabled the built in weather app to never refresh. I have little hope that this will fix my problem, we'll see.
I don't have any launcher apps. No games. Basic apps like Bank of America, Evernote, Flixster, Spotify, Swiftkey, Todoist, Logitech Harmony, etc. I disabled the built in Amazon app and installed the Amazon app from the google play store.
I have the same problem. Also after almost 1 year I am now getting random reboots. Especially but not exclusively uwhen using google maps. Mine is still under warranry.
Update: did a factory reset via recovery, working fine again.
Overnight while charging, my phone decided to bootloop until the battery died. Woke up to a warm phone that would not power on for about 20 min. I put the phone on a gel ice pack and now it's finally on. Uninstalled and disabled a bunch of apps, always on display, bluetooth etc. Just need this thing to stay alive until I can trade it in for the new Pixel.

Problems with Adopted Storage (a.k.a Flex Storage)

Hello all,
I have a Moto Z Force Droid (XT1650-02). It's running on Android version 8.0.0, and build number OCLS27.76-69-6. It was acquired from Verizon. It is not rooted (sadly), and the bootloader is locked. It has 32GB of internal storage, however, I added an SDCard(64GB) to increase that storage space.
I'm having some problem(s) with my SDCard, or more so its usage as adopted storage. I've had the phone with the storage for quite a while and everything has been fine. However, 3-4 days ago was when the issues started. One night, my phone was acting really laggy. Which I just chalked up to tech being tech. I let it sit for a bit, tried rebooting it, etc. Well, as time progresses it seems to me that Facebook Messenger is what's slowing it down. So, I try uninstalling it. Of course, this isn't working and android just keeps giving me a helpful little notification that the app is uninstalling (for much longer than it *should* take). I figured I'd reboot into safe mode and try uninstalling it from there. The phone powers off and reboots fine. However, when I tried to unlock the screen, the entire phone froze and crashed after a minute or two. Once it reboots, it gets stuck in the bootloader (or, more specifically, where it says "DROID" and there are little shiny spots moving around the letters). So I used the power button to force the device off and try rebooting again. Again, boots up fine but it freezes at unlock and the cycle starts again.
Around 2 days ago I took it to a Verizon store. Originally I was just told I was going to have to factory reset (which I didn't want to because all the pictures I have and such would be lost. Apps are backed up by Google though). They told me to take out the SDCard, to help save what I could. Then, I got the bright idea to try booting without the card. This time the phone booted fine and unlocked like it should (the only problem now is that I had no internal storage and all the apps that were on the SDCard aren't loading since no SDCard).
When I leave the phone on and install the SDCard, I can browse the internal storage again. However, I can't see any of the files when I try transferring them to PC over USB. As well, after a while of using the phone, or even letting it idle, it will eventually crash and go back to the above botting and not-unlocking scenarios.
Based on how/when the problem started, and the logcats I've grabbed as the phone was crashing, I have reason to believe it has something to do with Facebook Messenger not being removed correctly. [Logcats in the comment below.]
Any help would be greatly appreciated. As well, please tell me if there's anything that needs clarification. (Sorry for the wall of text. I just don't know what else to do at the moment.)
