guys my phone has started getting quite hot while charging these days
i dont us the phone while charging at all and still gets pretty hot on the upper portion of the screen
i did not experience this problem before and experienced only normal levels of heat while charging but this time its a lot of heat
i tried charging my phone in power off mode and it heats a little only
can any one tell me what could be the issue ?
p.s. : i dont have any running apps in background i greenified most of them and the phone still heats up while charging
If you don't have the issue when it's off, then I would still bet it's an app that is causing it.
I bought a used i337m that did the same thing and it was definitely a motherboard issue because I installed a motherboard from another s4 and the heat issue disappeared.

Hello
I think my new replacement SPV M600 has developed a fault too.
I have had the phone a week now and on two occasions while charging, the battery charge has stuck at 65% and the phone has got very hot.
I just checked my phone as I had left it on charge for about 4 hours, when I returned the phone was very hot to the touch and the battery gauge had stuck at 65%.
I turned off the phone and removed the battery, but it was not the battery generating the heat it was the phone. The metal plate under the battery felt like a heater.
I let the phone cool down then I replaced the battery and plugged it in again to see what would happen. Within two minutes the battery level went from 65% up to 76%.
I have unplugged the phone now as I am going to bed and I don't want to leave the phone on charge.
I would be interested in hearing if anyone else is having this problem, and whether you think it may be a serious problem.
I am just worried that this excessive heat may have damaged the CPU or the memory.
Thanks.
That sounds like a serious issue, I would try to get yet another replacement. Are you using the supplied charger?
I just realised, that my WiFi was turned on while the phone was charging, could this be the cause of the overheating?
I disconnected it the next morning, and recharged the phone again, this time it charged quickly and did not overheat.

I don't think that's a cause of your problem, mine didn't have any problem like that. I suggest you to ask your supplier to change the handset again. It doesn't sound good for a long yime.

I did, even tried charging the phone but when i connect the phone to the charger, it does not respond but just heats up intensively
Take it to be repaired. Seems like a hardware issue.
My Micromax phone(Yureka Plus) has been having a few charging problems lately. First let me list the problems that i have seen, and diagnose it as much as i can on my end.
The battery shows the charging indicator but the percentage doesn't always increase.
When I pull the battery the percentage changes at times-increases or decreases, but this doesn't always happen.
The phone sometimes refuses to charge entirely, and it takes multiple tries to get it to do so.
Also very rarely the after switching off the phone and charging it, the screen suddenly starts flickering blue-and only can be fixed by pulling the battery(Happened twice so far)
It shows particular resistance to increase in charge, especially beyond the 70% range-its practically impossible to get it to 100%
When I connect it to a laptop,it does get recognized and i am able to access the files on it(However there seemed to be problems when using an OTG, cant confirm ATM)
When using the phone while charging it either discharges or remains at the same percentage, usually the former.
Its not a software issue as i havent updated the phone in the past month, and the problems began about 2 weeks ago
I have changed cables, power sources and tried to recalibrate the battery-none of them worked.
The problem may or may not be connected with the following-The day before the issue started i was cleaning the phone using water.
I did find some amount of water in the case, but it hardly was enough and none of it seemed to be there near any electrical components
I cleaned the usb port, battery connectors, pins, and did a visual inspection, nothing seemed out of place.
The water damage indicator of the phone seems to be normal.
However the battery does spin-only on one end though...it doesn't spin on the other end.
Thus i am not sure if its a sign of battery damage or just how its manufactured...I think that swelling should be universal and not discriminate between sides.
Unfortunately i will not be able to give the phone for repair/buy stuff as i am out of town for about a week
Is it just a bad battery or something more serious? Like a problem in the logic board or something?
I have my samsung s4 rooted..My Phone was overheating and battery has a bump on it..& Bcz of it my battery drained suddenly like 60 at one min n thn it restarts automatically n battery become zero..now i changed the battery ..i thought battery will be the issue bt its still the same...Help:crying:
If the battery has a bump in it, then it is time to get a new one.
Changed it already
Anyone Alive?
I had an s4 that would get extremely hot when connected to a charger. Tried three different batteries but the phone would always get really hot, even too hot to touch any metal parts on the motherboard, in about a minute. Once I changed the motherboard, everything was fine so I think the problem is the motherboard, not the battery.
Hey there!
Does anyone else have the issue that the Le pro becomes really slow as soon as it's charging?
Feels like cpu throttling.
I'm running on the latest Lineage update.
I`m on Stock with Last Update and have the same Issue its noticeable slower on the charge.
It happend to me on old cydras rom. I don't know if is from the rom or just the hardware but it dissapeared. I'm on turbo rom and works fine. Be patience few weeks. If still does that change the rom. The phone may have some protection when overheats and cuts the cpu power to cool down. When charging temperature rise and if doing something with the cpu or gpu that rise temperature even more it automaticaly stops to cool down. It happens to me when playing games and charging phone.
That also happened (and still does) to me, the fix is exactly what you said @motanel_pufos, just let the phone cooldown a bit, because when it gets warm the cpu will indeed cut it's usage... Give it 10-15 minutes to get cool enough and enjoy your experience again
The problem is that the phone will be slow from the moment you plug in the charger. Even when it's cold..
Bumping this as the issue still occurs. Like mentioned above:, the moment I plug in my charger the phone is slow.
Is it better to report this as a bug to lineage?

can you turn off quick charge charhing in your rom??
I can't turn it off, and I shouldn't have to though ?
It's unbelievable slow when charging. Even my music interrupts while charging in the car.
Nobody else having this? I'm thinking of going back to stock ROM...
I have this issue as well. It seems like it's only been happening for the last month or two. I've been using AICP and Lineage roms and it has been happening on both of them.
I'm not sure if it is the heat from charging or the fact that the phone is sitting in the sun when it is connected to my car mount.

The worst thing is that my phone is garbage when it's in the car kit. It often goes so slow; even calls freeze up.
Is there anyone who knows how to reach lineage?
I used navigation with the phone in the car mount today. I did not plug in the charging cable. Everything worked great and there was no lag. So it looks like it is just the heat from charging.

Like I said; it only appears when you charge.
Let me use a small summary of how it happens:
1. Phone is cool and fast
2. I connect charger (phone is still cool)
3. Phone gets really slow (phone is still cool)
4. Phone is still slow (phone gets a bit warm)
5. I disconnect charger (phone is still warm)
6. Phone is fast again.
So it only appears when I connect the charger.
