Alerts not working in ESPN Cricinfo - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've just moved from the 2013 Nexus 5 to the 6P.
However, the alerts for wickets etc are not working for the ESPN Cricinfo app.
Any ideas please?
Cheers

Quick question involving android to iphone group messaging

Ok, I have never had an android phone before, preorded a N7 and once I used it I knew I would ditch iOS as soon as I could. Being that I have only used the Nexus 7 I have absolutely no idea how SMS works on the android system. If at all possible can someone confirm that android to iphone group messaging works properly? IE everything is contained in a single thread, doesn't show up as MMS, and I don't receive my own texts? Also in our group messages two of my friends are on ipods so we use imessage to include them. Am I correct in saying that I will not be able to message with them without using a third party app? Thanks for the help guys and hope I receive my N4 soon! :good:

Group messaging is featured and works natively. I did it once and it worked fine.

maybe you have logined on several client, the hangouts will notify only one time!
I have the same issue across multiple accounts and devices. all unique accounts. all on latest stable software
Galaxy Nexus
Nexus 4
Nexus 10
Same here beyond annoying.
Notification Issues
I noticed that my lack of notifications was only happening with one contact. Everyone else who messaged me would come through just fine, but my wife's messages would come through without a peep. I finally did figure out what was wrong and wanted to share that here in case it helps any of you.
Specifically, although we'd installed and used Hangouts on her Nexus, in the Gmail desktop site, she hadn't click the "Try Hangouts Now" button (left click on your account's picture in the Gmail buddy list). Once I clicked that, all of her messages now resulted in notifications on my devices. Long story short, if you're having issues with notifications, see if the person messaging you is still using "Talk". A bit silly that Google didnt move her account over to Hangouts once she installed the mobile app, but oh well.
Hope this helps.
can I ask a stupid question - is hangouts allowing for text messaging now?

I just confirmed that "Hangouts" does allow instant messaging - it does not hit your text messages (but it does hit your data). the other person must also have "hangouts" installed too in order for you to communicate with them via this app

thanks for clearing some things up for certain users! but is anyone else experiencing this problem besides us.
I am experiencing this too, but seem to have noticed a trend. I do get notifications but only on the device that I most recently used to send the message (not both devices like it should). For example at 1 PM, I send a hangout message to another person from my Galaxy S3, they respond at 1:30 PM and it notifies my GS3 but not my Nexus 7. At 1:45 PM I then respond to their previous message from my Nexus 7, and they respond at 2 PM with only my Nexus 7 receiving the notification. Not sure if this is just coincidence but that's what I've noticed so far.
I'm on a Nexus 4 CM 10.1 (initially RC2, now most recent nightly) w/ Nova Launcher running and get no notifications that I've been messaged. In fact, if I chat with someone via Gmail and then check in the hangouts phone app, it will typically not include the chat that was done on my desktop. This is really irritating. Uninstalled updates back to talk for now.

I had same problem with Hangouts, it coming after upgrading to 4.4.4
What I've found on some forums and working for me:
1. Move all hangouts ogg giles from sdcard(emulated)/ ringtones to system/media/audio/ringtones
to do this you have to go to twrp , mount system and use file manager inside twrp
2. Got it working with :
Settings --> Sounds --> Volume --> Volumes --> Uncheck "Link ringtone and notification volumes".
Then an additional choice appears for the Notifications.
After that I started to get the sounds when notifications arrived. I rechecked the "Link ringtone and notifications" and the volume still worked.
Seems like something that needed to be initialized once.

[Q] No Google Voice notifications

I've been having a problem on my Nexus 4 as far as Google Voice notifications. I've read some other forum posts, and Google voice is set up properly and responding, but the notifications are not staying "persistent"
On my Nexus 7, I sent 2 test text messages and a voicemail. They stay in the notification bar to alert me that I have something to read. On the Nexus 4, however, if you are actively looking directly at the phone when someone texts or leaves a voicemail, the notification will display, then disappear. Not exactly helpful. I have to keep compulsively checking it to see if my girlfriend or someone from work texted me.
The only other thing I can think of right now is to disable the CM Voice+ feature.
On the Nexus 7, I'm using Dark XenonHD ROM, on the Nexus 7, it's PACman.
Other than this, all of the GV settings for notifications are exactly the same on both devices. Does anyone have any input on why this is happening and how I can solve it? Thanks.

whatsapp etc notifications with edge lightning...?

HI everyone,
Just tried edge lightning feature in my S7 Edge. Works well with phone calls and SMS messages, phone looks really cool but...
How about Whatsapp, Snapchat and other notifications? Is there any solution for them?
Bump
It only seems to be working for calls for me.
Has anyone got this working for notifications?
Maybe it only works with Samsung Apps. I'm using Google Messenger for SMS.

LG V20 Problems with stock SMS push to Garmin Vivosmart.

I am running into an issue with my V20 not pushing text notification to my Garmin Vivosmart HR fitness band. I get my Call, email and weather notifications fine. LG stock SMS will not push. I downloaded Chomp SMS just as a test and it works fine. I think the problem in how the stock messenger and the second screen. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Issue resolved. Yay. Only took an hour of digging lol.
