[HELP] Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, being a usual clutz I dropped my phone while it was updating. Didn't have any damage, but it jarred something enough that it shutdown the device. Now it won't turn back on.
All I get when I connect it to my computer is a COM Device listed: Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008
Is there any available fixes for this?

That's what I was afraid of. Guess that's what I get for being a spoon. Google was willing to process a return for the device, but of course now I lost all my TFA keys x.x

Entire chip blown up?

Yesterday the phone stopped charging suddenly, and my laptop won't recognize it when connected via usb port. I suspected that the port went AWOL but the samsung service centre says the entire chip is to be replaced.
Be careful guys. Can happen to anyone. Btw, any guesses on how that could have happened?
did you root, overclock or install custom roms (and if so which one)
Nope, it was completely stock.
Never mind, though. I was called today and turret said simmering was loose, opening up the phone solved it!

Bricked Defy - replacement sought

Hi - yes, yes, I shouldn't happen but I seem to have wrecked my perfectly nice mb525 (no sign of life from any button combination, no Bootloader, doesn't show in RSD Lite).
I'm getting by with my trusty old Nokia but if anyone (in the UK preferably - I'm in Wiltshire) has an mb525 they are happy to sell at a reasonable price (paypal or transfer to your bank account) I'd be well pleased.
The more mods it has been through the better... I bought a phone running CM7 and got it onto CM10 but, frankly, I was out of my depth and should have been satisfied with where I was.
Anyone want a bricked phone for spares? Gorilla glass is near perfect.
Thanks!
Are you sure you don't want to try to unbrick it first?
If no then send it to me xD (ill pay the delivery)
You might want to look at eBay too

If you could unbrick it that would be cool... I'd pay postage both ways, etc, to get it working again.
*edit* Yes, it came from ebay and that would where I'd have to get the next one from if a friendly XDA person can't sell one on or mend mine
If you want, you can send it to me and I will do whatever I can
If it is not unbricable, then you can save some money by buying a Defy (or Defy+) with cracked screen etc and replacing the housing from bricked one

As I say, I can't see the Defy on RSD Lite. Is there a guide to unbricking through SDK or have I got the wrong end of the stick on what that can do?
Cheers
No white LED when plugged in?
if not then i think that Defy is out of action
There is also the change that battery has died and it needs to be McGyver'ed
SDK is not much help, its generally for app debugging etc..

I have a spare battery so I don't think that's the problem... there's no white LED when plugged into the mains but there is when it's plugged into the laptop (running XP) when SDK is running.
Does that help at all?
Can you tell what did you exactly do when you started upgrading? Did you flash any SBF?

Leave it in PC overnight..
Something similar happened to me..and leaving it overnight and flashing sbf next day fixed it!

@brunc: What did you do prior the brick? How did it happen?

Hi - I was flashing a stock UK T-Mobile sdf through RSD Lite on an IBM Thinkpad using XP.
Similar problems seem to have been encountered here...

Is it possible that we're trying to go back to an 'impossible' state or Android OS so something in the phone corrupts?
Near foolproof Bootloader or not there IS something that can wrong when playing with these phones and I'll be a lot more cautions next time!
Thanks for all the suggestions so far. They haven't worked but they might help someone in future.
:good:
Found this guide, which I'll try next week unless I'm advised otherwise...
[2.2] White LED when plugged into PC and no response otherwise
In this situation, your phone is failing to enter any recovery modes correctly and it cannot charge properly either as the battery is not recognised properly. You cannot load the bootloader correctly for RSD Lite to recognise your phone as the battery is not detected.
The only way to fix this is via the MacGyver method which involves cutting up any USB cable and using it to power your phone. To do this, cut the non-USB connector part of the cable off and strip the outside and specifically get the black and red cables and strip a bit off them and ignore the white and green ones. Take out the battery of your Defy and using some tape, stick down the black on + and red on - (according to the Motorola battery), making sure the wire touches the connectors.
[Note: Personally I make sure the wires are on the outside of the connectors so I will either lose the connection only or get a better contact. If your wires are in between pins, you may end up shorting the phone if the wire touches the wrong contact.]
Once you've done this, hold down the Volume down button and power and you should get into bootloader fine without any "Battery low" errors. You can then follow step [1.1] to flash a working sbf file.
Yep, try that

Are you supposed to get the white LED light as you do when the phone is plugged in to a computer by USB cable? If so, nothing yet. I think I need crocodile clips to get a firm connection, tape doesn't seem to be very good.

Not Charging, USB Port Has Burning Smell

I was charging my N4 by USB, plugging it into my wall outlet. It had already risen for 3% to 11% when suddenly, it stopped charging. I tried to plug and replug everything and used a different outlet, but I got no positive results. Then, I found that if I bent up the USB cable, the phone would start charging. Eventually, this became an infeasible solution, and now, my N4 has completely shut off. Upon further inspection, the USB port smells like something burning. What's going on? I'm not sure if this is caused by a faulty port of if there was some water damage. Some water flailed on the top of the phone lightly earlier but I'm not sure if some dripped into the port. Earlier today, I was having issues with the connection to charge but a simple unplug and replug fixed everything.
I'm not sure if all these events are coincidences or if one of them is the reason behind why it isn't charging now. Why does the port smell like it's burning? How do I get it to charge again?
EDIT: Not sure if it's the port or the cable that burned out.
EDIT 2: I just go a single red flash. What does this mean!?!?!?

setting aside the burning smell or water that dripped on the phone, have you tried other cable? i also experienced the same issue in charging. it turns out, the cable that came with the box was already faulty, after 4-5 months.
also double check if the usb port is really burned or something. might as well send it to a service center, either in warranty or not, just to be safe

I tried one other cable but it didn't help. What can I do to check if it is burned or not?
Try to plug it into a another android device and see if it works, if not it means that your cable is broken

Works with other devices so yes, it's probably the port. Not sure how either, but is there anything I can do?

I'll thank you back. What it be more worth it to repair myself or to send it to service center. Also, would it be better if I just bought a wireless charger?

That was gonna be my next suggestion! Haha. If you don't use USB much go for it. I don't think you'll have issues, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

[Q] Charging works, but no USB-OTG or computer connections working

I have a Nexus 7 2012 that is about 1 years old and I love dearly. The problem is, I can't get it to connect to my pc. I have done extensive research here, and I can't seem to find any details about this problem or steps towards solving it. It is not simply an issue of bad cables or drivers incorrectly installed, seeing as I have used the same cables on my HTC One and they have worked fine, as well as I have tried Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Linux Ubuntu 13.10. There is no reaction from device manager whatsoever on any system. The nexus does not recognize that there is anything but an outlet on the other end of the cord. I do have working ADB installed on both Windows 7 and the Ubuntu setups. This may have something to do with a car charger I used a while back. I am willing to try internal repairs if that is necessary and someone has pointers, but I need to know what I am looking for.
I am a technology student who regularly does internal repairs on all manner of devices, so feel free to technical terminology if you feel the need. I should be able to follow along. Thanks for all of your help in advance.
If it is not a driver issue or USB cable issue than I would go to firmware/software on tab first. In other words flash latest factory image and see if this helps at all.
If not than from what you have described I would assume the USB post on tab has a bent or broken pin, often just peeking in there will make it obvious but not always. You may be able to clean up port or bend a pin back into place but if you can't than you would need to solder in a new port. Luckily they are cheap ($5?) And so long as you are an experienced solderer than its rather easy to disassemble this tablet and solder in a new one
Best of luck!

Alright, I can't flash anything without being connected to some sort of computer, at least to my knowledge. Even wireless adb has a wired setup process. If you have anything as a workaround for that, that would be cool, though. As for soldering the port internally, this device is WAY easy to disassemble from what research I have done, and while I understand soldering conceptually, I have not actually done it in practice. I assume that soldering on a mobile system would be even more difficult.
On a separate note, I don't suppose that there is a change it would have actually damaged the flex cable would it? I feel like that's a possibility and it sort of worries me.
If you're rooted you can flash a new ROM through recovery, just download ROM direct from tablet, if you still have a locked bootloader you can't do anything without a working USB
If you haven't soldered before this isn't the time to learn, if you have some electronics you don't mind screwing up play around with those first or just find someone to do it for you
Yes its way easy to disassemble

Mine is a virgin device running stock Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat. Do I need special solder, or is normal electrical solder fine?
Standard electrical solder, some flux, desolder ribbon, and a temp adjustable iron should be all you need. But its rather fine soldering so I don't recommend you do this on first attempt, practice on some old cheap electronics
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Alright. I am gonna take a look at replacing that whole flex cable because that seems quicker and less risk to the device. It is a bit more expensive, though. Round about $35 plus some smaller screwdrivers that I happen to have at my disposal.
I'll post updates as I work on it, for anyone watching this thread and that are interested.
Probably the safest bet, best of luck to you!

Trying to help my sister (Nexus 7 2012)

My brother Iaw called me today and said my sisters Nexus 7 no longer turns on.
It also shows no charge being received when plugged in.
I'm gonna head over today and try to see what can be done, but I was wondering if there are any tricks I could learn before I drive there.
She has it in a nice wallet case, never dropped, never wet.
Thanks in advance

Power&volume+ = fastboot mode
Power & volume- = recovery mode see if you can access either. Report back if you can it may be fixable.
Hold power in for 2 mins while plugged in sometimes gets a completely flat battery to charge.
Plug it into a computer if it looks like its off and wont respond to buttons but gets recognised as an apx device by a PC then it a nexus coaster and the bootloaders gone it now needs a new motherboard.
