Is anyone on Total Wireless? What features does this network have? VoLTE? HD voice? WiFi calling? Is there even data while on a phone call?

I would be interested to know this as well.. I want to purchase a Nexus 6p but want to make sure it will work and be reliable. Thanks!
My son's phone is on Total wireless. I know for a fact they only offer 3g data speed's.
I tried Total Wireless, they do have 4G LTE but the download speed capped at about 5mbps. No VoLTE, no WiFi calling and you cannot talk on phone and surf the net at same time. I will go back when they have the option that you can surf the net and talking on phone at the same time. However, their plan is great with 5gb of data, unlimited call and text for about $33.
Hi does anyone know if the Total wireless Nexus 6p comes in the original Nexus 6p packaging or a total wireless packaging? Thanks

I'm not sure if this is possible yet, but how do we get wi-fi calling onto the N4? I am on T-Mobile and am interested in using this feature since my reception at my apartment is not the best. I bought my N4 from the google play store if that matter.
Everything that I've seen so far says no, it does not have wifi calling. Sorry
There is no support for tmobiles Wi-Fi calling. However, there are several apps like grooveip which do the same thing and work well. They integrate with Google voice.

I don't have my N4 yet -- still stuck in Play Store limbo -- but I've been testing GrooVe IP on my LG G2x in anticipation and have been very pleased with it. It definitely has better call quality than wifi calling.
Thanks guys, I'll check out grooveip in that case!
Have y'all been using GrooveIP with just wifi or have you tried 3g as well? I tried it over 3g with my old Infuse but it was horrible. Hoping that if it's better with 3g I could switch back to t-mobile again.
My problem with is with Google voice. I don't want to use something else for WiFi calling that uses Google voice. Right now I have Google voice on my Epic 4G (virgin mobile) and it is awful for texts. I don't know how people can stand it. I would definitely pay for t mobile WiFi calling. If we don't have it ill probably do att straight talk for the signal. Would prefer T-Mobile value plan with WiFi calling to get good signal everywhere the is WiFi and the faster 3G speed.

Just over wifi (I have the free version for testing, which only supports wifi). When my N4 arrives, I'll probably buy the paid version and at least try out the cell connection.
Hello, I have an unlocked (Play Store) Nexus 4 and I may get Tmobile's Unlimited Web & Text with 100 Minutes Talk which costs $30 (You can see it on Tmobile's Prepaid Phones web site). I am wondering if anyone knows whether I can use my Nexus 4 as a mobile hotspot without paying an extra fee or having to root. I would really appreciate any help with this. Thanks.

I you use the built in tethering with this plan you'll eventually be redirected to the page attached. Some root tethering apps disguise your data to look like phone usage so they won't catch you, but use at your own risk!

I just tried it on my stock nexus 4 and it seemed to work I was able to pick it up on a desktop computer but didn't try to connect to it.
This was using the built in hotspot feature on the nexus 4 and I'm on T-Mobiles $30 prepaid plan.
Edit: guess I should of reread the 2nd post a bit better.

I apologise if this is in the wrong forum.
Does anyone use these two? Which do you prefer? I used to use ST, then Net10 for about the same amount of time. Now I'm going back to one of the two. And I'm debating which to go with.
Experiences with either on your N6P? Recommendations?

Using Straight Talk AT&T. Works fine for me. Never tried Net 10
Been using ST for 6 yrs now. getting great service with ST ATT on my 6P.
I also have used Straight talk for many years. I have used ATT one, VZW one and T-Mobile one.. I'd say the ATT 5gig one is the best bang for the buck.. All though if you go to their site and go to tablet Sims you can get 1gig for 15$ and 2gig for 25$, no taxes or fees and they let you port your number and us it in a phone no problem.
I'm using a AT&T net10 sim. Great service on this phone compared to my OneplusOne which had horrible service with net10. Edit: Also I pay $95 a month for my wife and I both on unlimited 5gb data plans.

Has anyone used the Verizon version of Straight Talk with the 6P? Is wifi calling supported on Straight Talk?

Yes, I have used the VZW SIM on straight talk with the 6p.. It has several limitations. Number one is there is no VOLTE, so that means no data while you're on the phone with the 6p. Wi-Fi calling does not work, unless you use something like the hangouts dialer for outbound only... the phone will also not roam to partner networks such as US Cellular. And last but not least, the speed is capped to 5 mb x 5 mb up & down with a high latency usually more than 150 MS.. I would def recommend the AT&T SIM with straight talk.. Only limitation there is you also don't have native Wi-Fi calling. But all the other limitations don't exist with the AT&T SIM.
Great info, thanks!

Quick question as I have been skimming the forums for the last 2 hours...
I want to get a Pixel XL from Google, and use it on VZW new unlimited data plan and will be tethering, a lot...
The threads I am reading indicate that the Google bought Pixel XL will not natively tether without silly workarounds...? Am I interpreting this correctly?
All I had to do on my old Nexus 6 was edit the build.prop and call it a day... What I am going for here is a permanent wireless hotspot at my home that has no access to high speed internet services other than Hughes Net Satellite. I have a working 70db amp with 700-900mhz yagi directional and an indoor antenna. Have gotten speeds over 40mbits
I currently do this with my nexus 6p at my hunting camp in the middle of nowhere on my grandfathered unlimited data plan...
Thanks in advance fellas!
10gb of tethering is included with my new Verizon unlimited plan. After that, it charges. I don't think that editing the build prop would get you around this, but I may be wrong.

Verizon unlimited tethering works fine with my Google (non-Verizon) Pixel XL.
I am using PureNexus if that makes a difference.

The NEW unlimited? Does it allow you to exceed the 10gb tethering limit imposed?
Thanks
Now, that, I do not know...

It should work with whatever plans they have, but mine is the new unlimited.
There isn't a tethering limit, it just throttles after 10gb.
There aren't any additional fees.
With the new Verizon Plan Unlimited, you get a 10 GB allowance of high-speed 4G LTE data for Mobile Hotspot each billing cycle. Once you've used the 10 GB of 4G LTE data, your Mobile Hotspot data speed will be reduced to 3G speeds for the rest of the billing cycle. Data will continue to be unlimited while your Mobile Hotspot is reduced to 3G speeds.Source: https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/new-verizon-plan-unlimited-faqs/ (#9)

This solution works great for me on my grandfathered UDP on Verizon. It basically bypasses the provisioning check when you activate the native tether function like you normally would. It also survives most updates and other modifications. (A full unroot will undo it and force you to repeat the steps to implement.) I assume that this would also work on your new unlimited plan as it activates the tether without going through the normal provisioning check. But, you would need to test for yourself on your plan. Good luck!

If I have a Google phone, on VZW, rooted, unlocked with a ROM on it... Will the tethering problem still be there?
If you run the build prop tweak we are all use to, then it won't count against your hotspot data but rather your mobile data
Anybody have a S10 series on Verizon answer a couple questions for me?
I would like to confirm if or not bot Mobile Hotspot and MMS message work properly.
and any other quirks and besides the benefits of no belote ware, I'm planning on getting a S20+ but the Verizon version is $300 more than unlocked and I don't need or want Wi-Fi calling.
Thanks in advance
I have the unlocked s10+ G975U1 with Verizon and Mobile Hotspot works fine and MMS works perfectly. For my hotspot i use an app called NetShare (paid) for hotspot, but as i am on the $70 unlimited LTE (prepaid) this is the deprioritized plan meaning if there is congestion Verizon will slow down your data speed.
Only drawback of using International unlocked phone on US carriers is the phone don't support all LTE bands so you might be missing one or two and the data speeds might not be as fast
LTE+ 4bars of signal - Download 43Mbps and Upload 18.6mbps I'm 2 miles away from the tower then on other times i get 70Mbps download and 30mbps upload. The power of (deprioritized plan) lol

Oh that's pretty nice the limit I have on my hotspot is 15 gig. I used to get unlimited hotspot when I was rooting.
Good to know you can get it now without root.
