[NEED FIX] Baseband & IMEI (Nothing fixed them) - Zenfone 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm facing Baseband Unknown and IMEI Null issue since around a month. Tried everything, but nothing fixed it. Here's the list of what I've tried:

Downgraded to JB, then upgrade to KK then LP (No fix). Downgraded back to KK (Currently on .54).
I also got help from @prathmesh pande and @paktepu both guys did a lot of help (Thank you guys! :good::good: ) but at the end problem is still same. I also tried installing RAW firmware via Intel Phone Flash Tool but still problem is same. This post proved a little helpful but at this command: sec_provision_v1.1.0.2.exe -c%COM% -i2 %IMEI1% %IMEI2% -u3 28943447 -u1 28943447 the CMD window gets stuck (blinking and blinking) and after around half an hour, shows error message. @paktepu asked me to try it on 32-bit system as the sec-provision file isn't compatible with 64-bit system. So I did, this time it game me the same error message instantly. Here's the log (added *** in place of original IMEI):

So, basically I did almost everything but still there's no fix. If any of you guys have any different method to fix, please let me know, it'd be a huge help. Thanks in advance!

Probably it seems to be a hardware issue,u shud submit ur device to service center.
I can't suggest more becaus i never faced such issue.I am out of ideas now.Sorry
(I assumed u tried flashing Lollipop RAW FW too)

Hi,
Use my app Zenfone Assist to restore the Jelly Bean RAW Firmware, and after restoring the RAW firmware, DO NOT BOOT TO JELLY BEAN, install the stock Lollipop or CyanogenMod 13.1.
This steps fixed the IMEI for most of people that asked me help.

Okay. Now downloading these files. (As the internet is slow, it'd take me whole day and night to download these) Will report back tomorrow.

Yes, it was bundled with Debrick package.

is your phone already rooted ? usb debugging enabled ? grant root access ?

Yes. Everything except Bootloader Unlock.

Nope didn't worked for me
@dgadelha Unfortunately bro, still the same. I followed this procedure and your CM13.1 procedure very perfectly and even monitored every command. Each and every command finished with OKAY and FINISHED but at the end, on your CM13.1, Baseband and IMEI are still same.

Well, then my suggestion is: restore the RAW firmware, do a factory reset (to make your phone look unmodified), and send to an ASUS repair center, they can handle that.

If I may ask, how did you get this error in the first place?

That's disappointing. If I send the phone to Repair Center they'd take a lot of time, nearly a month and I can't afford a month without my phone. So what I'm gonna do now is use the phone until I finish with it then I'd send it to them. Anyways thanks for help.

I was on Big ROM then. The phone was in my pocket, I felt vibration. The phone re-booted. I didn't checked for any problems or causes then. After around half an hour I felt vibration again, this time I checked and there was no signal. IMEI null and Baseband Unknown.

Did you check BIG ROM user if they have same problem with you?

If you want to run the Rewrite Successfully, look at the baseband... if the baseband not null, it can be rewrited, just try again

i know you said you have tried everything, but i have a suggestion, if you want to try it, or you could've already tried it, but here my suggestion, you are on KK .54 now right? try jump to MM using RR rom directly without upgrading to LL and check if you got 0049 imei, if you can get that 0049, downgrade to LL n try rewrite imei. hope it helps, cause this helped me b4

@dgadelha your and @paktepu 's methods worked! Phone is up and running again! Thank you guys! Hats off to you devs, and to all!

Nice to see ur problem has been solved
Btw Did u sent ur fone to service center?Or any one of the methods worked for u?

Thats cool.

@prathmesh pande No coz I can't live a day without a Smartphone.

So, here's the Final Answer courtesy of @paktepu @dgadelha @prathmesh pande . If all the tools fail. Read this post. This guide by Douglas (I'd recommend you installing Lollipop instead of CM coz I got IMEI on LP, tried CM but no) may not get you IMEI and Baseband back. After this you'd get either the same or Generic IMEI. In case of generic IMEI, follow this nice guide to write IMEI and if the IMEI is still null, Switch off your phone and leave it for 2-3 hours (DO NOT PUT IT ON CHARGE), turn it back on, you'd probably get Generic 0049 IMEI (I got generic IMEI the same way as previously it was null), now you can successfully write the Original one with the same guide. If still you didn't get your phone fixed, contact devs not me coz they're the path-makers, I'm just a driver.
1 more thing! After all this, you may not get to connect with Wi-fi, so simply Root your phone with Zenfone Assist by Douglas, Install BusyBox and download Wifi MAC changer, Open the app, Write Original MAC Address in New MAC Address and Tap HARD CHANGE, done!

[Q] Flash OK with any ROM, but process com.android.phone fails everytime !

Hi all !
I'm new on the LG GT540 because that's not exactly MY phone but my brother's one...
I suggested him upgrading to 2.1 because 1.6 was laggy and overall buggy on his device.
So, he allowed me to do the trick but I'm facing a strange problem.
I'm on a French carrier Virgin Mobile (french = explains my english mistakes ), and I found a lot of ROMS (links found on xda), but first of all, I wanted to upgrade from the LG website (found no update on the operator's website...)
Upgrade progress was OK until the flash process himself that stopped at 4%...
The phone rebooted 2 times, and the application on the PC stopped with an error...
After that, flashing from LG utility was impossible !
So I found the method with KDZ_FW_UPD.exe and tried it...
I read here and here that it could void warranty, but that's the only way to get out of there...
Everytime I flash, everything seems to be OK, I choose 3GQCT on the dropdown list, I disable the modem in the device manager, the process reaches LParam 212~215, the message "FINSHED" appears, the phone reboots, but when I enter PIN code, I've got the message process com.android.phone failed etc...
Tried with 5 ROMS, always the same result !...
With no SIM card, I can use the phone normally...
I searched the forum for tutorials, but I don't know what I miss...
However, I'm surprised that none of the tutorials explains how to "unlock" the phone...
I mean : I'm on a Virgin Mobile carrier, can I flash the phone with any ROM without considering it's origin ?...
The flashing procedure allows any type of KDZ file, but maybe I forget something ?...
Thanks a lot for your help !
Try a factory reset after flashing.
Joost
Easy but radical !!!
It works, but with only one ROM (a "Bouygues Telecom" one...) : better than nothing ...
Thank you very much !
With other ROMs I can't even access to the settings tab, the com.android.phone process hangs before I do anything
Any idea would be welcome
Found the solution !
According to joostvhoek's post, Hard Reset is THE solution !
...but when Settings menu is inaccessible, return to factory settings is impossible...
So you just have to follow these instructions :
http://www.hard-reset.com/lg-optimus-gt540-hard-reset.html
After HR, everything works like a charm

[Q] [HELP] phone behaving strangely after unrooting

hello everyone
phone: i9505
I few weeks ago i rooted my phone (no problem) made a back up using rom manager on sdcard.
I decided to restore my phone with the back up i had made. Once it had finished restoring, I rebooted phone, go to unlock the screen and i am spammed with messages like: unfortunately process com.google.process.gapps has stopped and so on. Could not use phone because there was so many messages coming up!
my friend advised me to re-root it so i did, the problem didnt go away......
searched google found no answer to my problem
I thought un-rooting will solve the problem so I downloaded latest stock uk firmware (4.4.2) from sammobile, ran odin, put MD5 file in PDA, successfully un-rooted but when i turn my phone on now there is some writing on the top left corner it says (its pretty hard to make out it goes so fast):
REBOOT MODE = 0X684E39A6
POWER ON REASON = 0X1 (key power on)
CABLE: 0X00
DEBUG LEVEL MID
BOARD REV: 11
MSM CHIP REV 2
MSM HW ID: 0X71B0E1
BOOTLOADER VERSION: I9585XXEGNG8
BOOTLOADER AP SWAEV: 4
SPEED BIN: 2
ACPU PVS:2
SERIAL NUM:0X07FF9243
when i put my phone in dowload mode it says all this^ as well
after unrooting i went to setting and did a factory reset
ive tried rooting again, then unrooting but my phone doesnt seem fully unrooted? it says im on official, i also noticed i cant place widgets on screen
i tried google search but could not find an answer, mainly because i dont know what to search for but i know somethings not right
i just want my phone back to how it was, for now
if you need anymore info please let me know!
thanks in advanced!
Have you tried this guide to installing stock? I used this and it worked fine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
There's a bit at the bottom about bootloops, I don't remember if I had one but I know I had to flash it anyway due to a problem I had after flashing the stock rom, so to be safe you should probably flash that after stock is flashed on as well.

[Q] all sensors of N9005GSMH are dead after flashing 4.4.2

Hi all.
My n9005 is now in a serious situation because I actually dont know what exactly happened. Let me report the thing i know :
The n9005 was actual my younger brother phone. When he tried to use OTA to update his phone to 4.4, everything went well until the finish of the process. It became very lag. Then he use odin to flash a firmware 4.4.2. The most serious thing is that he doesnt remember what country of firmware he flashed, either the problem happened when he finished OTA or after flashing via odin. But the phone began to be lag, and show Imei null/null, with no baseband, and all sensors are dead.
At that time, i think the sensors problem is due to the wrong imei and baseband. I decided to flash another baseband (nf2) and it was not lag anymore, but just show blank imei and 01 sv imei and all sensors still unavailable. Then i used qualncom nv tool to rewrite the original imei, it's ok, but no signal and still no sensors worked.
I took it to the repair store in order to flash super imei with the hope of recovering both signal and sensors. But just the signal was ok...
I have used many tools to check the sen sor :
1. *#0*# => all shown but with 0 number, meanwhile they cant work and there is no change when i try to test.
2. Phone Info Samsung : no original country, no date of manufacturing, no hw revision... I wondered where it is from. I check the imei. It shows my phone was manufactured in VN, but no market detail ; the date of manufacturing is Jan 2014 (not so reliable comparing to the app)...
3. Some sensors test app, they show almost all my sensor, just show, and all get fail when I try to test
4. I found an app to calibrate the accelerator sensor, but it got endless circle
5. I come to sys/devices/virtual/ . I can confirm the folder of /sensors is still there
i have try to flash many stock ROM via odin, i found that a HongKong firmware will harm the emei and baseband @@ I remember when i first boot my brother's phone, it show all Chinese. I wondered if he flashed a Hongkong firmware via odin and all things got wrong, or from the OTA 4.4. I dont know exactly. But anyway, at the moment I just want to find a way to recover all my sensors without touching hardward (it is still untouch).
Need some advice from you. Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad English.
I have read that many people are facing the same problem like mine, but there're no response from them to comfirm that the problems were solved or not

Odin to stock problems

Hey all. So i never had a problem with Odin before but with this note 4 ( sm-n910w8) canada model i have encountered a serious issue that none of the fixes im aware of help with.
Some background info : picked it up used, it had null null imei and the baseband was unknown on 4.4.4. after much searching i decided to odin to 5.1.1 via samfirmeware. N910W8VLU1COK3_N910W8OYA1COK3_N910W8VLU1COK3_HOME . i downloaded one and it passed but went into a strange series of loop. it would get to Android is starting... Optimizing App a certain number between 20 -24 seems average and then freeze and restart. so i downloaded another copy of same file and odin again. same problem. also it should be noted the service mode had no options on 0011 just blank with no inputs, 0808 had options and diagnostic mode worked, also all ports were open prior to this.
Steps taken to rectify : clear cache, wipe data factory reset, reflash stock roms with different downloads and even through kies firmware recovery
so its not a typical boot loop it seems to just freeze after a minute or so every time.
tldr: odin to stock failed and freezes and restarts every time cache cleared etc. help lol
Any advice or options im eager to hear thanks.
edit- got cm 12.1 installed through twrp. still null imei and unknown baseband

[SAMUSUNG GALAXY A41] - Imei Repair

Hello everyone,
I explain you my problem:
I tried this morning to update my samsung galaxy A41 SM-A415F rooted with Magisk (firmware patched via magisk) to the latest version (A415FXXU1CUH2) that can be seen on sammobile :
Download Samsung Galaxy A41 SM-A415F XEF France A415FXXU1CUH2 firmware
So I tried to update the phone by setting the HOME_CSC to odin but what was the surprise when the phone rebooted? Some partitions were corrupted and I had no choice but to reset the phone.
I wanted to reset the phone with the last ROM and so I started the installation on odin BUT I checked the option "Nand Erase" and "Re-partition" and since then the IMEI number has been deleted and I can't put it back nor send messages / calls etc.
I have searched everywhere on the internet and even trying to put back the last ROM doesn't work and when I want to do *#06# the message: sm-a415f is not supported on showIMEI is displayed
After a while I found a tutorial on the internet that said I had to put the .pit file of my rom in the "PIT" tab on Odin in addition to my ROM because I had deleted all the partitions of the phone... I checked the Re-Partition option in addition to F. Reset Time & Auto Reboot to register the .pit but it didn't work, I always get 2 errors: One when I reset the phone before the menu with all the apps is displayed telling me: "IMEI or MEID is empty" and another one when I try to see the IMEI number when I press *#06# in the phone app telling me: sm-a415f is not supported on showIMEI
I thank you in advance for your help,
Sincerely.
Edit:
Oh yeah, and the phone doesn't detect the sim card even when I take it out and put it back in...
Hello,
i also have a similar problem.
I rooted the samsung A41 smartphone with magisk. After a while, I wanted to go back and put the original firmware back. Everything worked until I installed update A415FXXU1CUH2. Now the IMEI is empty and the sim card cannot be used. I went back to the A415FXXU1CUD4 version and now everything works fine. I initially blamed all these problems whit the root, but looking around on web I saw that the IMEI problem happens.
Can't read SIM cards after the latest update
Hello, I received and installed a firmware update two days ago. I noticed cell signal icon was replaced by a crossed circle; . Also, the options for 4G and 5G are nonresponsive, the menu options are not greyed out but they are unresponsive when pressed. So I can't connect to my cell service...

Samsung A21s software update problem

Problem: IMEI is null after updating to A415FXXU1CUH2. Cant call, message or use data.
Solution: Flash earlier firmware or restore from your full backup.
I confirm this IMEI problem and that the @Arazon´s solution works.
I tried to update the phone to the latest stock firmware Android 11 (A415FXXU1CUH2) from an earlier version. I got everything to work except the IMEI showed null. I tried flashing with both root and non-root. I tough I had broken the EFS-partition but luckily that was not the case. Somehow the IMEI could not be red with the newest firmware. I guess Samsung needs to fix it and we have to wait for a few months? Anyways I will try updating the A41 "the normal way" and then flashing my root after that. Maybe it will work.
I wonder when we get the unofficial LineageOS for the A41 SM-A415F. Hit me up if you are up to it, I might be able to help.

I tried updating the A41 with bootloader locked but the results were the same. It seems that if you have tripped the Knox (voided warranty) the recent update A415FXXU1CUH2 will somehow break your imei and it will show up as null.
These firmware versions (root or non-root) do work and the imei problem does not exist even with tripped knox and unlocked bootloader:
A415FXXS1CUG1
A415FXXU1CUD4
A415FXXU1BUC3 and older
