As discussed many times in a lot of ROM threads, Android Doze power saving comes with Android Marshmallow. But only devices, which have a low power accelerometer can use this Doze mode. Developers can enable Doze in their device tree, but it won't work, because the system can't use the old accelerometer of our Note 2.
Doze requirements
Device implements the significant motion detector (SMD) APIs in the Sensor HAL. Devices that do not implement these APIs cannot support Doze. <--- Note 2 don't supports this
Device has a cloud messaging service, such as Google Cloud Messaging (GCM). This enables the device to know when to wake from Doze. <--- Note 2 supports this

During Doze:
Apps not allowed network access.
App wakelocks ignored.
Alarms deferred. Excludes alarm clock alarms and alarms set using setAndAllowWhileIdle() (limited to 1 per 15 minutes per app while in Doze). This exemption is intended for apps (such as Calendar) that must show event reminder notifications.
Wi-Fi scans not performed.
SyncAdapter syncs and JobScheduler jobs deferred until the next maintenance window.
Apps receiving SMS and MMS messages are put on a temporary whitelist so they can complete their processing.
How can I enable Doze in my device tree:
by adding the following to: overlay/frameworks/base/core/res/res/values/config.xml
bool name="config_enableAutoPowerModes">true</bool>
Statement:
Note 2 can't use Doze
There is no longer batterylife, if doze is enabled in configs

Hey there, sup?
Well i had to read some pages about doze and the conclusion is:
The device must have sensors to determinate if it's really not in use.
"That means no moving around and nudging the gyro or other motion sensors, no touching the screen or the buttons and no waving your hand around in front of motion detection and not connected to a charger".
The devs need to configure their apps to not abuse priority.
"Things like phone calls or SMS messages can get through (and thus waking up your dozing phone) as well as any app that declares itself as high-priority.
To avoid this "...high-priority notifications that aren't part of your carrier network (calls and texts) have to come through a Google Cloud Messaging server."
FYI : "...Of course, people using their phones on a network with a poor connection are still seeing battery drain while idle, because Doze doesn't stop your phone from searching for a better signal to latch onto....A very poor signal will still kill your battery"
Please dont get me wrong...i can do paraphrase what i read, but to make me understandable in english i prefered to quote parts of a good article from here.
I read others articles from different sources but most was about ways for devs to match/check their apps behavior for Doze mode. Like this.
I didnt test anything..but looks like that doze just need to know that your device is really idle regardless "this sensor or that sensor"...if your device can enter in iddle..it can be "dozed".
..."A device enters Doze when the user leaves it unplugged and stationary for a period of time and with the screen off...
Best Regards

Strange...
It felt like Doze saved battery on my Note 2 for me after I tweaked it...
I disabled the motion detection completely and send it to sleep after 3 minutes of idle.
Wake up was allowed every 20 minutes
Edit:
... oh my...
About 3 hours ago my Note 2 froze.
I held down the power button and it turned off.
Now it does not turn on.
Even if I connect the charger.
Seems to be a sudden death

Doesn't seems possible...
I charged it over night and measurde the voltage of the battery directly.
4,2V
So it should work.
The power button should also work.
I reseted my phone with it...
What else can I do???

This has once happened to me, I connected the battery from another note2 and phone sprung back to life.
I had to charge my battery in another phone, and my battery was charging again.

The Note is dead :/
Even if I plug it to the power adapter. Nothing.
Nö download mode.
The battery is fully charged.
I switched the battery with an other one. Still nothing.
Bought a Note 4. Still thinking about my good old Note 2 (I flashed nearly everything on it...)

Yes the Note 4 is nice , but I think I paid to much for it...
460 Euro via Amazon Germany.
Note 5 is not available in Germany, so the Note 4 is more expensive here.
The Note 2 of my cousin also died last week.
I tried to flash TWRP but it constantly gives me failes.
The stock recovery also fails.
To the Note 2 users out there:
Do your backup!
Dude i have one way to resurrect it.
1. Twrp
2. Format all the internal memory.
(i am pretty sure that s.th has gone wrong with the memory)
3. Of the memory hasn't been fixed. Change the memory hardware.
Thank me later. Try it now then let me know

i posted this in the Note section since it had a big thread going about this wakeup annoyance called l2_hsic, but as i am using a S2 i should post this here as well (you may remove my posts there if you think 1 is enough, i have no permission to do that yet), its a wall of text so im just gonna quote it:
i too had alot of battery drain without actaully using the phone much, was reaching aorund 2 weeks on stock 4.0.3 but the performance wasnt all that, so i installed Supernexus & DorimanX (extreme_battery), great performance but the battery wasnt really what i expected, barely a week with low usage, tried lots of things while i searched a ton of topics about l2_hsic, using gsm-only with FD disabled, turned off play store notifications in the store itself and market updates in TB, WiFi is only on when needed, data usage is disabled, so is gps since i dont use it, baseband/ril is matching, and disabled stuff in TB/gemini/LBE which i dont use, battery got a tiny bit better but far from the 2 weeks i was reaching with stock (had alot of stuff/bloatware frozen though), i was even thinking about flashing stock again but that was gonna be the last option, performance on custom roms was far better
so it got me thinking, saw alot of l2_hsic wakeups with no appearant reason to why or what was triggering those while i had just under 1%/h drain with all that stuff off, then i remembered the last time i opened the play store before flashing Supernexus & dorimanx it didnt work, probably froze too much in TB but didnt want to get to the bottom of it since i was gonna flash a new rom & kernel anyway
so a couple days back i decided to freeze google play store/services and market feedback agent in TB and block them as wel in gemini (had a hunch they could be the culprit triggering all these wakeups since some autorun lines automatically re-enabled themself after turning them off in gemini, one even was called WAKE_UP lol), denied all access in LBE and then used the phone as i normally would (occasional WiFi, couple calls a day and thats it)
rebooted the phone a couple times the last couple days to test if it wasnt a 1-time-wonder but things stuck and im glad to say im now at 0.2%/h of battery drain in deep sleep, up to a max of 0.5%/h when in use, down from around 1%/h in deep sleep, so it will probably last a bit longer than the stock rom/kernel would have before, great success!
before i froze the store/services/agent i had around 1500 wake counts from l2_hsic on a couple of hours while the phone was in deep sleep, now im at a couple wake counts on almost a day while actually using the phone like i usually do
now, in case i need to go in the store i just have to enable the stuff again in TB/gemini/LBE, little effort imo for alot more battery life

notice the l2_hsic wakecounts are now 16 on a week, where i had a couple thousand during a few hours of deep sleep before i disabled the store/services/agent, this is the stock battery with Supernexus + DorimanX (extreme_battery) on 2G, wi-fi wasnt on this week, and i only make like a couple short calls a day, same as ive always done, yet the store woke my phone up so much i barely reached a week with a full battery before disabling it

TLDR: in a nutshell, after trying all possible solutions to get rid of the thousands of l2_hsic wakeups (in deep sleep that was), it was actually the google play store/services(/agent) that caused it, disabled it, and i have more than doubled my battery life
obviously most people use their phone alot more than me, i make a couple calls a day, rarely turn on wifi and thats it, someone using the store on a daily basis is probably not gonna disable it and reenable it over and over, just wanted to point out how much the store actually drains your phone without wifi/data in deep sleep on a 2G network

It's a pity that gmail/youtube wouldn't work at all after disabling google play services, google play store and market feedback agent.
The data/wifi signal that would usually turn blue stays grayed out. I'll be trying enabling just play services

Interesting, it would be good to see this bug fixed but Google apps remain connected, especially Gmail
and after a couple months the l2_hsic evil is back for no appearant reason, i hit up TB one day with half a battery and it couldnt find the pro key again, so i closed it and thought i'd ignore it, next day i turn the phone on again and my battey is near empty, wtf? enabled google play stuff again, updated my apps including TB, pro key problems solved, disabled the google play stuff again, no luck, l2_hsic is back in full force, disabled all the google apps, no luck again either, but i noticed umts_ipc0 was in there too with just under the amount of l_hsic wakeups, which has something to do with the usb, so i started looking further and it seems a fix for the l2_hsic wakeup bug has already been found, even though its on another device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41338478
only problem now is to have the kernel modders take a look in their kernel and see if that bug is present and if so, if they can fix it?

The Bug is in the activation of Stamina Mode.
When you turn it on, and you turn it off, the phone locks remaining with a black screen.
We have to wait a bit, pressing the lock / unlock for a few minutes and the phone's display lights up again.
Now, I've done some testing and configuring the Stamina Mode, disabling "Extended Use" (Limit device performance to increase battery life) the BUG does not show up anymore, but, however, the Stamina Mod so it would be useless.
I decided to capture the screen device and will upload on YouTube and will attach the video in this post.
I have 4-5 days from my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, and also trying to restore to have it fixed.
It 'a shame, because the Stamina Mod is really a great feature .. but with this annoying bug for me is unusable.
(PS.'s Stamina Mode is not always crashes, only if you use multiple times during the day.)
I hope that this information can be useful to solve this problem.
In this video, "I force" Stamina Mode, clicking multiple times on Stamina Mode.
But in reality, when you use several times a day Stamina Mode, this happens.

Tell me what you think ..
Bye
Doesn't have that problem at all, I always leave stamina on. But I tried it you're way to trigger it and doesn't matter how many times I turned it on/off I couldn't trigger the problem you have.

Do you have active "Using extended" on Stamina Mode? because if I deactivate "Extended Use" I can turn on and off as I want the stamina mode, but no more crashes.
(I think because by removing the check mark for "Use extended" the performance of the device remain unchanged and do not decrease).
Do you believe that it is a software or hardware failure? ...
if you have any other advice to give me .. I will do all possible evidence.
(PS. Diagnostic all OK, no problem)
Yes u have using extended activated. Couldn't be another app that conflicts with stamia?

Impossible.. I have not installed anything that goes in conflict with the Stamin, only simple applications.
And I have not turned off any kind of service / application pre-installed ..
Just to make sure I'm replicating the conditions correctly:
- Extended mode on
- Toggle Stamina Mode on and off repeatedly
Anything else? I can't make my phone crash doing this :s

All right .. I do not know what to say ..
It could be a hardware problem? .. The phone is perfect in every way .. except for this thing .. the stamina to me it looks like a software problem ..
But if it does not happen to you does not know what to think ..
Have you ever tried to reset your device and check if the issue is present before any customization?

Yes, I have already tried ...
I read to try to terminate the application "Checking eco mode" and delete the data, and then restart by pressing the off button + vol up ...
nothing but the problem repeats itself.
I want to clarify that he does not always during the day .. that happened to me 1-2 times this bug while .. if the active and inactive following the stamina mode (as you can see in the video) this bug happens ..
I just hope that it is a software problem because this phone is really a bomb ..
I've had this problem as well before. The battery life is good enough in normal mode that i don't need stamina mode

Yes, but in fact I am not using more stamina mode and the battery lasts too ..

Yes.

nothing
What should I do? .. Wait for an update or send it in for service? (if it is a hardware problem but I do not think ..)
This started happening about a week ago... I didn't install any new apps in particular. I've attached screenshots to the post.
Screen-on time is a little below an hour in these screenshots.
As you can see Android OS and Android System are at the top of the list by a long shot. Android System seems "normal" in the sense that it has 58mn of CPU time and only 18mn of wakelocks (as reported by the built-in battery menu).
Android OS however kept the phone awake for 6h11 which seems like a lot. I'm not rooted, so I did the ADB USB trick in order to pull stats out of Wakelock Detector, and all of the apps clearly don't add up to six hours. Especially not the usual suspects like Google Services, Facebook, etc.
Diagnosis shows a LOT of system processes, and I'm not sure if that means 1) it's all good as far as user land goes (I don't have any weird apps) 2) there's a system process gone rogue for some reason 3) the cause isn't showing up 4) something else???
Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Me too - 910F - im on Lollipop, but struggling to make it through a day at the moment.
Checking my Battery Graph is the same Story - my phone seems to be Awake constantly.
Seems Android System is using it....
Anyone have any ideas?
I can only recommend rooting your phones and change roms or kernels.
TW is heavy on battery and if you change to a CM rom the battery life will increase dramatically.
I have rooted all my phones since the very first android phone ever made and i cannot own a non rooted device as the freedom of rooting is just to awsome to ignore.
Every time i have battery issues i ether change my rom or kernel and then my issues goes away...
Can't root Verizon unfortunately
Hmm. Try this. Unchecked under advanced wifi, the option to let Google and apps use wifi, even when wifi off. Since then, 12 hours, I have had normal sleep. Did reboot after Unchecked. . Premature to say I fixed it, but so far so good.
Update. Since unchecking that wifi option, phone sleeping normally still.
Update #2- after 36 hours. It's back! Awake constantly. Unreal

I'm usually a fairly heavy user, but this week I haven't been quite as hard on the Z5C as I normally am, and I saw it as a chance to test the 2-day battery claims.
Everything was left turned on as per usual - Wifi, Bluetooth, LTE and the like were left on for the most part. Screen was on auto-brightness, all the usual stuff. I didn't try to 'milk' it for more. I didn't use any of the battery life extending modes.
52 hours and 26 minutes later, with 4 hours and 26 minutes of screen-on time, I was at 2%. I'd definitely call that a pass.

Mine is changed out now because of faulty lens but I've used it for a few days and I got same usage as OP.
you might want to perform a full factory reset and if it doesn't solve your problem return it to Sony for warranty.
Also, do not close the recent apps constantly. Let them run in background will improve the way lollipop (and soon marshmallow) runs.

thanks i've just done a factory reset and unfortunately still same two processes are holding up hundreds of wakelocks on my devices not sure how to further troubleshoot / fix this..
processes are :
com.android.providers.calendar
com.sonymobile.tasks
does anyone know what those processes do and how i can go about just removing them or replacing with something not buggy? will be leaving for an overseas trip in a weeks time (away for a whole month) and this new phone which i got especially for it (good camera and waterproof) will be completely useless to me if the battery keeps failing on me. love the phone so far but this battery issue is killing my transition experience
had full charge at 9am and now at 4pm already at 33% battery life

for testing purposes.. do you have a calendar app? can you disable it? or clear the cache from settings >apps...There is some rogue app that is constantly accessing storage.. I've had it happen on my old phone with custom ROM.. also do you have exchange/gmail sync try changing that
for battery problems you can use Wakelock Detector without root (following the guide in the google play page https://www.google.com/url?q=https:...A&sa=D&usg=AFQjCNFCL0Z8eiWrc0xTYvz2hQAgPd3xoA ) and, if you find system apps that can't be disabled manually, you can use Debloater (windows application) http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294 which can Hide ( pm hide command) the system apps. I don't know exactly what the command does but i hid three system packages and they disappeared from the running processes list: either they are completely hidden from the system or they are stopped and not running. For example, i hid the Software firmware upgrade app and its settings in Phone Info disappeared along with the Software upgrade notification in status bar.
My battery life was fine until I recently updated to latest fw version using Flashtool. I can't update the phone with PC Companion anymore. I'm a heavy user, I play games, watch videos, check social networks, listen to music, download apps etc. But before using flashtool battery can last me a day or so. I don't think it could last more than a day if I don't use it. At night, for example, sometimes I let the phone idle, even with stamina mode on, the phone drains 1% per hour. I don't think that's good. I hope with the marshmellow update battery can improve.

do you set up your phone after a factory reset?
U should try this: factory reset, not completely set up phone, only necessary apps like WhatsApp, Google account etc, maybe disable or remove the unneeded apps and then keep using the phone for 2 - 3 charge cycles. Then all should be good. If not, return the phone. If all is good by then, u know it's not fault of firmware or phone but fault of some app u installed.

Did u flash userdata.sin (factory reset)?
I really can't believe some people having this bad battery life.
It must be some bad app or something, I think..
The only way to test is full factory reset including wipe internal SD and then test the phone without fully setting everything up (installing apps etc)
I think I'll do a factory reset. But maybe when the marshmellow update comes, I don't want to have to set everything up again. Btw if I want to update phone flashing a new fw via flashtool is it recommended to do a factory reset before or after updating? Thanks

Mine has only maybe 30ish % left in the evening after one day with some youtube on the bus to and from work and random email and IM check ( 3-4 hours screen on total). Maybe it's youtube taking away all my battery...
I suspect it can only last until noon the next day maximum if I do my normal use and don't push it on power saving.... I don't know if I can call it a pass.. I guess it's somewhere between a pass and fail to me..
but, I do notice that it drained very fast in the first few days when I bought the device. After using it for a week it's a lot better. So if anyone is wondering why the battery life on your new device is really bad, try use it for a few days.
Hi all,
I am very satisfied with my device except for the battery life. I always had like 3-4 hours SOT. I was not happy but it was OK.
Lately I started charging the device every day after work (I would come home with dead phone after only 8-9 hours of it being unplugged).
So I thought the battery is defective, I must change it... and I did change it yesterday. The thing is that even the new battery behaves almost the same. It approved somewhat and now I will return home with 10% battery instead of dead phone 1 hour ago. But still the battery is terrible...
Can anyone help me, share some advice on how to improve it? I have disabled many software (even facebook), disabled location... did everything I could think of.
I am thinking some app is drawing the juice but cannot put my finger on any of them.
Some screenshots are attached that might help with your tips/advices.
Thanks!

Are you rooted? On nougat? If so get background restrictor APK here on XDA and kill background apps and tasks so they can't run if you do not open them. Lower screen brightness. Install kernel auditor and shut off cores 4 and 8.

uninstall chrome. Then try accubattery (better bcause after android 7, they join all in android system to mask each app consumption. If after this you still can't find out where's the problem, start the phone in "safe mode". Even the consumption is better in this mode you must do a full wipe in recovery mode (vol up+power+home) and after this, reinstall one app each time and see after reinstall the second one and so on until you find out in which app is draining the battery
If you want you can starting by disabling background data in settings but I think isn't the clearer way to find out
This is going to surprise you.
I've had this phone for years and I've tried everything - and the BEST result is when you DON'T DO ANYTHING except disable Facebook and Instagram, and any Google Apps you don't use.
Do not tamper with anything else.
I figure that Samsung tunes this phone so tightly that if you leave it alone it operates as it should.
Anytime I disabled anything else, battery life suddenly and drastically reduced.
The phones runtime software kicks in and if you have disabled something it checks routinely, it will keep the phone awake constantly looking for a ping back from that process.
I just went through the whole process again meticulously, App by App.
Also DO NOT enhanced messaging OR the device antivirus. If you have, you must reset and then train yourself not to engage these too regardless of how hard The phone tries to persuade you!
Then - the battery life becomes like a normal phone which means you'll still need to charge everyday but it will take you through a full heavy day... And this is fantastic!
Honestly try it and you'll see what I mean. The S6 edge plus is so finely tuned, anything you block will start a feedback loop.
I had similiar problems , the way i fixed it, i disabled/uninstalled all samsung applications what i dont use, i disabled/uninstalled all google applications what i dont use. Cold weather (like -20C) will affect the battery life too.
Disable / uninstall apps you dont need. That helped me a lot and got even more battery life while at stock nougat rom with all updates installed.
try wiping cache from recovery and reboot your phone.
I hope this helps you
