I just got this phone two days ago and I haven't seen much on the OEM unlock for this version of the phone. I was wondering though, in the developer options there's in option for this. I've had to use that before on my other phone (desire 626s) and I was wondering couldn't the same thing be accomplished with this? Thanks in advanced.

Hello everyone at xda
I was wondering how I can get a different lock app? Preferably a 4 dot lock pattern versus the 3 dot standard. I seen it on 4.3 I think but im just rooted, no new rom or what have you.

I don't this is possible without root and a rom. I can handily suggest ProBam as a daily driver, all sorts of pattern unlock options there.
I just got my note 3 yesterday and I'm struggling with whither or not to root now or wait a week to make sure I don't need the warranty
Are there any issues I should consider while I'm weighing the decision
My phone with out root is like a car with out wheels but I also don't want root and find out the hardware is faulty

Take the plunge and root the device! I purchased mine 2 days ago, bought an unlock code and rooted the device. It was a WIND Mobile version which had LTE crippled (since WIND only supports a MAX speed of 4G). I installed the Telus firmware (ROM) and enabled the regional carrier settings to enable the LTE radio band. I have no regrets!
Well went to download cf auto root then i see to check for multitouch issue and find out my new baby is sick
That leaves me with two questions
1 is there a fix
2 will it get any worse because as it is it doesn't bother me but if it were to get worse who knows

My Note 3 from Telus came region unlocked. I sim unlocked it same day. But i do not have multi touch issues. It registers all 10 fingers and when moving all 10. If u shell out lots of cash best get the best possible. But if it doesnt bother u. Take the plunge. Its worth.

Well i didn't shell out anything it was a gift
As i don't play games on it i decided to go ahead with rooting
Not much in the way of custom roms or mods for my model as of yet so i chose lidroid
I liked his work on the n7100

Hey guys, my question here is that I rooted my phone, got a custom recovery, running a custom ROM and I'm using a pin code request at the lock screen. The thing is if someone stole my phone.... They can delete the data on the phone from the recovery by turning it off and pressing down + power to enter recovery and viola! They have a new phone.... How can I prevent this from happening and make sure the pin stays no matter what?

Write down your imei code in a safe place so that you can give it to the police and your phone company if your phone is stolen. In some countries the service providers will ban phones with imei registered as stolen. However, this only work for the country you live in. In other words, if the thief sells your phone oversea it can still be used.
Regarding factory restore and deleting all your data, I am afraid there is very little you can do to stop the thief. You can use a boot up password, but there are probably ways to circumvent it, especially on a rooted and bootloader unlocked phone. Most security measures are aimed at stopping thieves from accessing your personal data stored on the phone, so they are not too concerned about thieves wiping the phone data. In fact, most security services offer ways to remotely wipe your phone.
Once they have your phone, your only concern is keeping your personal info secure. You're not getting the phone back either way.

True true thank you for trying to help but my point was for thieves not to have that enjoyment that they stole a phone and its useable..... So I can't put a lock for the bootloader menu... Thanx again for your help guys

In future get "trickster mod donate" you can lock the bootloader with it, without wiping the phone and unlock it. If the phones locked with a pin they can't get to your information and you could put other measures on

I rebooted both of th display phones in my local store and they both had this. Not sure why but thought I'd ask if anyone else's phone does it. I know my s4 does it but it is unlocked mdk bootloader. Any ideas??

Some have posted that this sometimes happens after switching runtime system to ART. Did you switch it? If not, perhaps someone did in the store...
No I didn't, but that doesn't mean someone else didn't switch it.

Totally...maybe check to see if dev options is unlocked, and if ART is selected. If so, I would guess that's the reason.
Im curious now. I'll try to swing back by there tomorrow and check it out.
When I enabled ART I started getting that every time I rebooted. So I'd guess that's why. Nothing is really unlocked.
When I was exchanging my S5, I switched a display model to ART just to mess with those (VZW reps) who might see it and understand what it use to mean, not knowing ART now activates it... I also rooted another device.

It's something to do with art. It also happened to me.
Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Actually I don't think it has anything to do with ART. I have a friend that works at a Verizon store and I turned the first display model on with the wrapping still on it and It had that splash screen
Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
This is caused by the Verizon related stuff that is injected to the units which become display units for stores.
Nothing to do with ART.
My phone has this unlocked custom symbol. My wife's does not. I do have ART enabled. Came here to find out why I may have this. Hoping maybe I would have some mistakenly unlocked bootloader. I'm leaning towards ART being the cause.

I have an AT&T model and after the update I still can't unlock my phone via fingerprint. Are all US versions missing this feature?

I thought it was built in

Apparently it is working fine for international models. I have the option to use fingerprints to unlock my device but it absolutely will not work

Works just fine for me and I am using a US version. Silly question, but have you gone through the process of registering your print with your phone?
Also, you can't unlock using a fingerprint after a reboot but you should be able to any other time.

Yep, I had the fingerprint set up right but I failed to set my secure lock setting as it was set to lock after 10 mins. I was testing it immediately after rebooting. It works now with the proper lock time set, lol

never missed a beat to me. I've always used the fingerprint unlock

Same here, I've got four fingerprints set up & it's not working for me. I've tried setting the fingerprints up several times & once after a reboot, still no go.

The default secure lock time on my device was set to 10 mins. Did you change that? After I did so, it worked

Don't know what I did, but the fingerprint scanner works now. After I swipe the lockscreen, it asks me for pin or fingerprint.
