Micro SD Card Not Reognized - Galaxy Grand Prime Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bought a Galaxy Grand Prime from Metro PCS and it doesn't recognize any of the micro SD cards I insert into it. I've tried 3, they all work on my computer, but don't show up on the phone...it's like it was never even inserted. Is there anything I can do or did I get a phone with a broken SD card connector?
Thanks,
-Adam

Not regconizing the storage card

I have Advantage for about 3 months now. While using the device working fine.. All of the sudden it's not regconizing my 6gb microsd card. I try everything...put it back in, reset..., but haven't try hard reset (don't want to loose my data). But it's not working.
I try to put the microsd to my computer and it's working file, so nothing wrong with the card.. Just don't know about the minisd adapter.. what? All of the sudden the minisd adapter is not working.. ?
Have anybody have this problem. ? Please help...?
have try to hard reset already, but its still not recognize the microsd card...
Anyone help...?
I went a bought another Mini Adapter, and it's working fine now.
But loading mcirosd little slower.. is there a different in speed with Minisd adapter?
I have the same problem here... micro sd is not recognized
I would buy a new adaptor... but can't find a shop that sells it seperately.
It seems like the adaptors are always sold together with a micro SD card.

My SHADOW not Detected My Micro SD

Please help...
I bought a Shadow from Ebay with this condition :
1. Device Locked => Solved with Hard Reset
2. Locked to T-mobile => Solved with SDA Unlocked
Now I have another problem, my shadow not detected my micro sd.
the micro sd is from my other phone and try to insert to my shadow.
what is the problem? how to solve it?
please help....thanks
I believe the HTC Shadow can only read normal SD cards not HDSD (i think thats it) the high capacity micro SD cards arent supported.
The Shadow works with SD cards upto 8GB. If your Shadow is not recognizing SD cards, the SD card slot is more than likely broken.

no i use sdhc class 4 all seems fine
8-GB HD works in mine...
I have a "Transcend" 8gb Micro SD (I'm almost positive it's HD) that works fine in both my Shadows. I've a 16gb but it's in use as a Virtual-Machine drive in my laptop. When I can I'll try it out for the heck of it.
Of note- my 2gb non HD does NOT work in either. Weird. Works in the PC though.
Standard formatting and all that....

[Q] Locked SD cards and W8

Like many of you, I have several SD cards I locked by trying them in my Focus. The only way to unlock them was to reformat them using a Symbian device, which is one of the few OSes that sees the card. W7 does not even see the cards.
Well I recently bought an HP Envy X2 which has both a MicroSD and standard SDXC card slots. When inserted into the MicroSD slot, W8 DOES see the card! I was unable to get disk properties or to reformat it, but it is visible. Strangely, if inserted into the SDXC slot with an adapter, the card is not seen at all.
In any event, now that we can see the card, how do I mount it and reformat? Is there any type of utility that can unlock the cards?

There is a Storage Lock app that XDA devs have written and it comes pre-installed with many WP7.8 ROMs. I locked an SD as well and was able to unlock it without a Symbian phone. That card now works great in my wife's Note II.

Can a cellphone damage the sd card?

My wife was having having trouble playing songs from her micro sd card (the tracks kept skipping a beat or so), so she bought a new micro sd card. She used the micro sd card for a few days and today the smartphone would not see the micro sd card when she went to "storage". I've tested it on my cellphone and on my computer and none could detect the micro sd card. Could the cellphone have damaged the micro sd card somehow or is this most likely a coincidence?
Personally I think if it's a new card it's just a bad card. It happens.
OK few questions is the SD card SanDisk?
How large is it?
If it is a SanDisk then it is possible for some issues just read up on it.

SD and Micro SD card support

Hello
I wanted to know if one plus 5 can read either the Micro SD or the SD card, if I use a card reader for this. I tried with one : https://www.amazon.com/Vanja-standa...martphones/dp/B01JJ1VDQK/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_t
Though my laptop read both the cards (and my laptop has a SD card slot) but none of my phones or my tablet did. So I was wondering if one plus 5 has the support to read the memory cards.
thanks

Well, it has support for USB OTG (on the go), and I have tested the USB OTG with a USB C OTG flash drive and it did work. You have to enable it in the settings first, and I can't get TWRP to see it, but it works fine in file browser apps.

I want the micro SD and SD cards I have in my older phone/tablet and my laptop to be read by my one plus 5 phone. Flash drive is OK, but not micro SD or SD card.
thanks

I know, I'm just saying, it has OTG support, which is what the thing you linked is. So in theory, it should work. But no promises.
OK, if you can get an adaptor to fit the sd card reader (usb-A to c), found one in my S8+ box, then you can use the sd card adaptor. Tried with one I have and an older sd card. Read fine...

can you send an image of the connection?
and also which card reader u r using?
It is something like this - https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/comsol-usb-type-c-to-type-a-adaptor-cocmafad or this https://www.firefold.com/adapter-us...OJySZV1E44FQIt58RIlHe51HLDHD67YaAv6LEALw_wcB- but all in one with a lexar micro sd reader attached.
I found mine in the Samsung galaxy S8+ box
what why just get a USB-c micro sd car reader. Slide the micro sd card into and plug it in. Forget all the crazy wired adapters. Something like this....
https://www.amazon.com/Lexar-microS...29&sr=8-3&keywords=usb+c+micro+sd+card+reader
Mine allows more than just sd cards - old school usb keys that aren't OTG, possibly HDD's/SSD's and other USB equipment.
If you just want micro sd cards though, that's a good idea....

Hello
Till now I have tried all these sd and micro sd card readers from amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019PI2WPS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JJ1VDQK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NBECO3G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and I am sorry to say, that none of them work with One Plus 5. The phone does not read the cards at all. Is there something in the OS that maybe does not allow the cards to be read?
I really need something that works, or some workaround, since I have 3 different cards, with lots of my music on them.
2 cards are exFat and one card is vFat, if that helps.
The Flash drive with the OTG cable works OK.
thanks

No idea. I toggle the OTG on in settings and just plug mine in and it works.
Hello
OK I have got it working now. I installed Total Commander file manager and that read my sd card. So now ES File Explorer also reads it. The thing is that I have to keep total commander installed, otherwise ---- Es File Explorer stops reading the card.
Yep, OTG seems to only allow the Stock file explorer toread the OTG devices, nice to know the workaround...
