which KCAL settings you use, I would like to stay equal to the moto x 2014 amoled homesick
Stock, normal setting. Would never bother with kcal unless something was wrong with my display.

I'm new to Nexus 4; I'd need a kernel with corrected thermal throttling; no modifications to colors, contrast, gamma etc, but the possibility to correct them manually; good for battery but smooth and eventually with tweaking possibility (like clocks, voltages etc).
Any hint? Thanks!
Hi,
Nexus 4 Original Android Development
All is here, yes it needs some search, some reading (changelogs, list of features, last feedbacks, etc...) and some test by yourself but after that you'll be happy to have found by yourself THE kernel that suits your needs. Personal satisfaction.
Ah, should we choose for you..., yes it seems...
So all models have the same 5" diamond pentile matrix 1080p OLED display, arguably the best and definitely one of the most interesting smartphone displays around, but are there any decent settings for non-TW based ROMs?
Obviously this is subjective and dependent on purpose, but my preference for any computer display is to aim for sRGB / 6500k colour. Thanks to some amazing work by AndreiLux, the best option seems to be anything running a kernel with the right version of his STweak (or Synapse) software, where you can load a preset profile based on professional calibration of a similar unit. Awesome.
As far as I can tell this means using either his own Perseus kernel for i9500 or Wanam's Adam kernel for i9500/i9505 (which has it incorporated, I'm not sure but rather hoping that the i9505 version also has the S4 display preset included), the only problem is that both of these only support TW ROMs. Then there's Samsung's "Movie" mode, which seems to me the second best option but again is TW only.
Personally I'm getting the i9505 as I need/want 4G and much prefer even the GPE ROM to TW (and I don't mind the slightly inferior DAC + camera sensor), but the lack of any decent display settings seems like a major oversight by Google and I'm surprised it isn't picked up on more by the media. As much as I don't want to, I might end up running TW for this reason alone.
So my question really is whether there are any options for display calibration on a non-TW based ROM? AOSP is understandly lacking in this department but AFAIK the GPE ROM incorporates a lot of the TW code and closed drivers etc. so it stands to reason that it should theoretically be possible.
I flashed franco's kernel as my first "custom" kernel, but as soon as I rebooted I noticed that it was waaay to bright, my app colours weren't as nice anymore, just over saturated basically (i'm on lowest brightness). I have no idea how to fix it and it's hurting my eyes. Any help?
cheers
Install Franco kernel updater and change the color profiles till you find something you like.
I prefer the g47 personally.

Hi, I've created this thread just to have a meeting point to discuss about color tuning for our display. As a lot of us has noticed (I've already discussed about it with @The Flash in his own kernel's thread), our phone has a poor blacks saturation (it's a normal behaviour for LCD screens), this thread could be a useful place to share your own tuning in kernel's control to optimize as best our display using the tools that our custom kernel's developers are giving us. This is mine, is a Little approximated 'cause I don't have a great eye about these things, maybe someone with a little bit more experience/ability could provide a better configuration. Every tipe of help is appreciated.
Is it possible to port Moto Display to custom roms?? Or is it some proprietary code that is illegal to share?
I've noticed some roms in Moto X forums with this enabled but most seem like stock modded roms instead of being built from stuff like CM.
Also what significant battery difference does it make when comparing Ambient Display on custom roms to the stock Moto Display??
