I wanted to know how to do it since i need to do so in order to allow USB HID for my Moga Pocket (Using the Moga Universal Driver). I need to use that mode because half the games i play don't work properly unless i'm using USB HID. Also, what are the risks for rooting? Any benefits other than what i'm trying to achieve? Could this possibly brick my phone? I'm new to this whole thing, but i want to try it out.
My carrier is T-Mobile, and i'm running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Model is SM-G530T.
UPDATE: I decided that i will just return/refund my Moga Pocket and get a Moga Pro instead. I heard the Moga pro has HID support right out of the box.

Hi! is it possible to connect wirelessly or wired via USB adaptor to the tab & play games on the tab? I have a PS2 & PS3 Controller. The PS2 controller has a converter that switches it to a standard USB slot. I hope to find a way that doesn't require rooting as i'm worried that after rooting & modifying any files i might not be able to receive firmware updates from Samsung.

I use my PS3 controller on my 7.7 all the time. You DO need root access though. There's an app on the market called Sixaxis Controller which you will need to buy, but it works perfectly if you follow the directions. You need to use the pairing tool on your PC in order to set the controller to look for your 7.7 as the Bluetooth master, but once you've done that, you should be all set!
P.S. Full instructions here.
Any other way without rooting? I don't wish to root for fear of changes to any of the system files that might hinder my firmware updates.

You need to be rooted plain and simple. The bluetooth the ps3 controller isnt standard fare and thats where the sixaxis controller app steps in.

You gotta root. You really have nothing to worry about with simply rooting. Unless you're planning on flashing custom firmware or ROM's, you got nothing to worry about.
I do not have PS3 wireless controller. I am planning to buy one. I would like to know if you are using Original PS3 dualshock 3 controller or non-original controller. I prefer to buy non-original one because of its rapid firing function and cheaper, but the developer highly recommended to use the original PS3 controller.
Any idea?
Get a on-the-go (OTG) cable and plug in your joystick (USB) or wireless joystick (via a USB connector) and you are good to go.
Ok its work i can use it in the menus of the system but how to play with it i don't have any game working with it
Hi,
im searching for wireless gamepad(with analogs) compatible with Galaxy Tab 10.1 without root.
I found that dualshock 3 works fine but needs root.
What's about Logitech F710?
Sorry to rain on your parade but you'll more than likely need to root the device for any controller to work properly.
And what's about USB pads?
They work fine without root?
Phonejoy pad works without rooting the device. I have one. It uses bluetooth. I use it with Snesoid, nesoid, n64soid, etc.
I think there is new version out there too.
What about an icontrolpad? It uses bluetooth to connect to other devices but I never used it so I cant comment on the requirements to use with it. But I believe that root isnt required.

Bluez IME doesn't need root. I use the Wii Remote version and analog works perfectly.
If you don't want to root your tab you're sort of in the wrong forum. There's plenty of android enthusiast websites out there. This is XDA-developers.
Im at wits here, I tried Sixaxis with no luck to get DualShock 4 controller to work and so as the Wiimote and Wired PS2 controller.
Anyone know or have got it working themselves?
or I have to spend $80-100 for a controller for it?
thanks!
Samsung has blocked Sony's ds4 controller since their marshmallow update on Samsung devices.
It only makes sense to force consumers to purchase Samsung's own gamepad, unfortunately.
I can confirm it used to work with Android Lollipop.
Whats the best controller that can do both FireTV stick (V2 5.2.2.0) & windows 10? The Mrs is buyin Christmas gifts today and I wanted to toss a few roms on the FTV-S & hopefully be able to use 1 controller for it & PC. Is this possible? Im sure Id would have to pair/repair everytime I switched (which might get old to be honest)
I do have extra DS4 & DS3 that can be dedicated to each platform to possibly shift my gift to something else if pairing becomes a p.i.t.a.
My USB logitech for PC bit the dust months ago & want wireless now.
Hello and good afternoon. I just joined the community to seek for help and to look arround for cool stuff
Well, there is my problem:
I'm looking forward to use my dualshock 4 with my phone, but even if the device connects to it successfully, no input is recognized, this leaving the controller unusable until i disconnect it. No matter how much times i have tried (even with different IME apps) it won't recognize the controller inputs.
Is therd a workarround for this? My previous phone recognizes the controller fine and i have seen other lg phones using a dualshock 4 with no problems
My phone rom is stock (non rooted) running android 6.0.1
Thanks in advance!
As far as I can tell the Sony framework files don't seem to be included in this phone. However if you decide to root magisk seems to be the way to go for you as there is a download module called Sony framework that seems to add the framework files you would need for the duelshock 3 and 4
I don't know what that is.. Lol.. I'm sorry. But I'm sure it's awesome sauce...
You need root and this app:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller
Works perfectly
