In the current year 2016, most of the high-end Android phones will ship with the Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 found in the S7/S7 Edge variants. Since the Nexus 6P was a late 2015 release (as usual), was it cost factor or inability to produce in its time frame? (In regards to them opting for a Snapdragon 810).

The 6P was shipped with the 810 because the 820 simply wasn't ready yet. The 2016 Nexus will be shipped with the 820, if it has a Qualcomm chip, which it probably will. It has nothing to do with cost, they choose what's available at the time.

After doing some research, it's likely that Samsung will release another S4 variant with Snapdragon 800 internationally. Currently, that top-of-the-line model is restricted to Korea, but i think that come IFA in September, things might change.
http://www.gsmarena.com/snapdragon_800_samsung_galaxy_s4_benchmarked_vs_octa_model-news-6284.php
There are already several sellers on eBay supplying the S800 version. For example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Korea-Editi...1265240201?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item3cd49f3089
So, what do you guys think? Are we going to get dev support on that S800 if it's released internationally?
In case it's not released internationally, will XDA bother to create a developer forum for it (since quite a few people might be tempted to import their own S4 S800 from eBay sellers)?
My predictions for IFA 2013; Samsung will introduce Note 3 (nothing new here, as it's all been confimed with leaks) but then we might be surprised to find an international release for an S4 S800 variant as well as an S4 Active S800 variant.

I think yes, but for gn3 I prefer t4, because is more Power. Rumors said, 3g=exynos 5420 4g=s800

I was just about to make this thread, I'm glad someone is having the same thoughts as me.
Yeah I'm somewhat worried about the recent news regarding the AOSP maintainer who recently resigned over Qualcomm being extremely protective over the GPU driver sources for the new Nexus 7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but so far haven't Qualcomm been very good to the developer community regarding source code etc?
With the Snapdragon 600 version of the S4, there is always the Google version to fall back on. I remember having the first SGS and having a Nexus device (I know the S4 G isn't a Nexus device), that was so close to the SGS in hardware really helped kernel developers out.
At the moment, I'm erring on the side of caution with regards to the S800 version. I'd much rather have a slightly slower device in synthetic benchmarks (almost unnoticeable in the real world) and excellent dev support backed by a very clean version of the OS, from the Google Edition phone, than a slightly faster device with buggy rom and poor dev support.
I'd really like to hear from an android developer here as to quite what the problems with the S800 version might be. It is hard for me to give a fully reasoned judgement when I know little about what precisely is required to port something like AOSP / CM to a device.
I think the S800s real asset is the adreno 330. Otherwise, the cpu difference is probably even less than what you see from S3 exynos 4412 to snapdragon S4 pro.
If gaming is very important for you, then go for the S800. It will very likely receive less dev support (see galaxy S plus vs galaxy S), but has a stronger CPU/GPU combination. Unless you want to test out AOSP some point in the future, I do not think you would lose much from S800. Besides, why would you want to mod the S4 that much anyway, it's already pretty sick running stock.

Finally, here is the confirmation that something is indeed happening (for international release) with the S4 and S800:
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Inte...E-A-and-Snapdragon-800-visits-the-FCC_id46502
Watch out for the announcement around IFA 2013.
In the coming weeks and especially after launch, the debate will gain momentum about buying better specs (i9506) v/s better dev support (i9505).
I think that the S600 variant remains more suited - it has more direct support from the AOSP ROM of the i9505G (S4 GE) and i highly doubt that the S4 GE ROM will work directly on the S800 version. The S800 architecture is different/improved on S600, and the Adreno 330 is an entirely different beast altogether. So, unless Samsung releases an i9506G (S800 GE variant, which i doubt will happen as there is already one S4 GE variant and it wouldn't make any sense to release more GE of the same phone!) i would still bet my money on the i9505. And you should prefer the better dev support model too, since you're reading this off of XDA!
In my opinion, the S800 is just a publicity stunt as the original S4 no longer has the fastest chipset, so Samsung is making up for it against its competitors by releasing an S800 variant. Most countries don't have LTE-A and there's always going to be a better, faster, more power-efficient device. IFA will continue this legacy (other than S4 variants, we'll get the Note 3 and Sony's Honami).:cyclops:
Last year when I went to choose a note 3 I had 2 major options, the N900 with Exynos chipset and the the N9005 with Snapdragon.
Traditionally I choose the phone that has the largest developers community and XDA supprt, and the clear winner was the N9005.
In this context, which one will be the best choice this year and why?
I'd go for Exynos because of the Wolfson DAC, but they only sell the Snapdragon version where I live.
Iphone 6+
In the past the Snapdragon versions of Samsung phones have gotten the most amount of support from the community and has overall preformed better than their Exynos counterparts. I would personally go with the SD version.

I agree - that being said, there may be people who dev for Exynos. Best advice is to wait before picking it up to so what gets released and which of those you like the best. In addition, waiting may end up saving you some money as people tend to sell off phones a month or two after release if they upgrade, or don't like the phone.
I was getting ready to buy an S4 (9506) and then the A5 appeared. There is only a 50 euros difference, so the prices are equivalent enough for me. Which is the better purchase at this time? I realize the S4 is nearing the end of its official support cycle, but that isn't a big issue for me, as I will probably root it (and I'd root the A5, too). The only significant advantage I can see for the A5 is the 64 bit chip, but it is a rather slow snapdragon 410. Is it worth buying the A5 to anticipate future android needs? Or are future androids likely be backward compatible for 32 bit chips?
Look all i know that the 64 bit can handle more than 4G of rams and anyway the smart phones cannot upgrade its ram so it won't a big deal as both of them 2 Giga bity ram

i'd say the S4, 32 bits or not, the Snapdragon 800 is a total BEAST of a cpu. Plus the 9506 just received official Lollipop so it's on a good path.
i9506, ofcourse

Any idea what is the model number for Galaxy S10+ dual SIM - 1 TB, 12 GB RAM or 512 GB, 8 GB RAM version?
Also, a good place to order online? Canadian and USA websites have no dual SIM models on the offer and the only thing I was able to find is anemic 128 GB, 8 GB RAM version (SM-G9750) from never-msrp.

Thx, good find. Now I just need to find the place that will ship to Canada.
I've found this website that appears to list all the models if anyone is interested:

Never-msrp offers the 512GB variant.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Ga...im-FACTORY-UNLOCKED-6-4-8GB-RAM-/223437883429
Also the 1TB variant.

They ship world wide however I've had issues with Canadian Customs when shipping electronics from the USA.

Yes, I've seen those on the offer and was about to place my order, however, I've noticed that they offer Snapdragon variant. I'm looking for Exynos in order to root the device.
BTW, I've previously purchased 3 phones from the same company and shipping was very fast. Interestingly, if I buy from any other country, customs won't bother me much, however, when the product comes from the USA, customs will always slap me with a hefty fee.

I don't have much experience with Samsung devices, however, while reading different articles, it seems that Snapdragon versions are difficult to root and everyone recommends Exynos if you intend to root your phone.

I bought mine from pdaplaza.ca. It's a 512GB model. SM-G9750. Price was pretty good, and I'm really happy with my purchase. Bootloader is unlocked. I unlocked it successfully today. I detailed how in this post:

They're not more difficult to root however Exynos variants typically have more custom ROM's than Snapdragon variants. This may not be the case going forward. The Exynos 9810 in the S9 had a higher incidence for overheating and lower battery life than the Snapdragon 845 chipset. Even now we're seeing Exynos S10 users reporting higher battery drain and overheating. This is due to the chipset's architecture which is setup for faster Single Core processing. The Snapdragon 855 in the S10 is a more versatile and balanced chipset which now exceeds Exynos in most benchmark comparisons. From everything I've read, I would be wary of the Exynos variants until such time they have overcome the deficiencies.
