Back when Lollipop ROMs first came out I tried one and realized the silent mode was gone. Did some research and it looked like a lot of people were upset that it was gone and did not like the new system for notifications. After one day on LL I went right back to KitKat and that's where I've been since. I like the fact that it doesn't matter if my phone is on ringer, vibrate, or complete silent mode... the alarm will still go off.
I am getting pretty bored not flashing anything and did some more research the other day and found a few different sites saying that Silent Mode was brought back for the GS5. Most of the links mention the UK phone and the actual build number of the update was G900FXXU1BOB7.
Looking through the forums it doesn't look like we have this build. Does anyone know if silent mode was brought back for the US GS5 and if so which update it was? Here is one article about it bring brought back.

Thanks!
I am not really understanding the "silent mode".
If I understand correctly, Google rewrote "Silent" mode when 5.0 came out so that ALL notifications were muted (including alarms). Then Samsung released an update that override the setting for GS5 that brought back the old system that was in previous android OS.
The way my current ROM works (5.0 latest Verizon)
Is that it does not matter if I have Ringer On / Vibrate / Silent, my alarm will go off.
At night I put my phone on silent but my alarm goes off the next morning just fine, which is the way I like it (so only my alarm disturbs me).
If you want a special combination though you can use the DoNotDisturb function

That's exactly how it works on KitKat. It was removed in Lollipop at first. You had to set the alarm as priority and make sure it was on the correct mode.

I just edited my post, did I understand correctly? I should note I use the default stock Clock app. I looked but do not see anything about priority.
If it helps I know Silent acted this way since OE1 (firmware my phone came with)

It sounds like maybe it did get brought back. I'm just gonna have to test it I guess. Here is an article talking about it being removed. If you search around there was lots of talk about it. Pretty much people were upset because they wanted their alarm to go off on matter what mode the phone was on

ok so i set my alarm for 7:00am this morning and it just didnt go off...luckily my mum woke me up anyway but still its very unreliable...anyone else had this issue? maybe its linked to my sms message problem? thanks
the alarm on my X1i has been working flawlessly and waking me up every day at the specified time of 7am...i wish mine didn't work so i wouldn't have to wake up that early!
Be sure to have "Let Alarmsignal ring, even if the device is turned on silent or vibrate only" (i dont know what the official text is but im just losely translating from english.
You should find this option with the Clock and Alarmsignal settings under the Tab More.
Also i suggest setting 2 or 3 alarms.. maybe that will help.. ;P
Mine too, some times it simply doesn't go off (specially if more than one alarm are set).
i wake up before it has to anyway but it's still annoying!
and no, that option doesn't help at all, i tried it.
I'm using the free G-Alarm since October last year and it reliably woke me up every morning.
Maybe you want to try it: www.ageye.de
use G alarm

been using G alarm. no problem.
G Alarm has already failed me twice... helping me get late for work!
I really like it but if i have a real important apointment i use another cell phone with another alarm, i simply can't rely on any of the X1's alarm system alone...

Sorry to say that, but it seems to be your fault then.
G-Alarm works reliable and fine.
Just be sure the alarm is set active and at the right days and the ringtone is available and set to 100% volume.
Also let G-Alarm fix the Windows Mobile Alarm Bug and force to put the sound through the speaker even if the phone's set to silent or vibrate only.
Did you tell it to ring EVERY DAY? I forget this every "first" time on a new phone and the alarm dows not work. It only rings when you tell it to do.
I knew it wasn't just me!
Sometimes it will go off fine
Sometimes it will just vibrate and then do nothing else
Other times it won't go off at all
I can't seem to find a pattern to it, it just seems completely temperamental and is far to unreliable.
As for g-alarm that's far too annoying. It went off while my phone was on silent on a train. Had loads of puzzles and mazes and doesn't stop ringing until you have done them. I pulled out the battery, turned it back on and the alarm went off before the phone had even booted up!
sometimes this problem occurred for me with the custom roms being developed but with the original and the r2a roms I have not had an issue
yep, done all that and i have wm all fine tuned, and as i said, only failed twice over a month or so on a week day configuration with no changes made to it, but enough for me to not fully trust it anymore, be it problem with G Alarm or windows problem...

You can turn those snooze games off , it's just if you want it to really wake you up . Anyway G-Alarm works well for me so far. With the standard I had issuses, even on my older Magician. This one period it only sounded this ding sound repeatadly and refused to play the sound file which of course was in place. Weird stuff, but G-Alarm is awesome, it even allows you to set random MP3s from a playlist you set up. Waking up with a different DnB tune every day
Yes i have a feeling ill have the same issue as Elusivo...no alarm whether it be the standard or g-alarm will be 100% reliable on my X1. Glad i'm not alone but quite annoyed because that is one of my most important things...this along with text messages not always sounding or being displayed until messinging is opened up makes the phone a little difficult to love sometimes.
To me it seems everyone's X1 is slightly different....some have physical issues like cracking etc, whilst others have things that don't work as well as someone elses X1. I find it very strange. I guess these are my issues!

yes, exactelly
as far as i remember, i also faced this on my SE P910i, also same problem!
i barely sleep, and if the phone only vibrates i wake up, but mostly it doesnt!
i will try GAlarm, let's see.
+1 for G-alarm here.
I tried several different progs before settling with G.
I cannot think of an instance where it has let me down, without it being my own stupid fault.
As said before, you can switch off the mazes and puzzles, and just use it as a standard alarm, with/without snooze.
Best piece of freeware i have got, i think.
Why does WinMo standard alarm suck so badly?
Have MS forgotten to update it all this time?
Alarm
You have any idea how i can add in me xperia more alarm tone.?
I have never had any problems with the alarms. They are right on time.
i tried mine set for this morning. no problems yet. ill test it a whole week or so and see how it goes.
standard nam rom for my x1a.
I gave up on the built-in alarm and I've been using SPB Time which I'm very happy with!
Hello,
I am thinking of getting the HTC HD2 on the Virgin Tarrif.
Couple of questions for anyone, the alarm clock?, is it correct you have to have the phone switched on say overnight for the alarm clock to wake you?.
I have a Nokia 5800 and you can switch the phone off with tha alarm set and it will ring and wake you in the morning....
Any latest fixes for this prob??.
Also texting?, do you have to switch to caps to start a sentence with a capital after a full stop?. Or does ti automatically do the capital?.
Hope some one can help.
Thanks.
yes.
don't believe so.
yes, it doesn't do it automatically.
yes
no
yes you can set "capitalist first letter" however I'm not sure how well it works with keyboards other than the built in one. (certainly doesn't work with swype)
I have that checked, it still doesnt work with standard keyboard.
I Odin-ed the JK6 update and when i look under status, it said "unknown" under Phone number. Does this happen to everyone too?
Another thing i found is that the menu button's vibration feed back is laggy. Like i would press the button then it would vibrate shortly after. For the other three buttons it would vibrate upon pressed. Is this a new thing in Froyo? I dont recall Eclair behave like this.
Also, does anyone having battery issue with JK6? Mine seem to drain a bit quicker than when i was running JI6.
the leak is buggy,
let's just wait for the official one, it should be soon..

Mine shows "unknown" for the phone #. I'm running pure stock JI6, so this issue is not specific to JK6. I don't use key vibrate (seems like a battery drain to me) so can't comment on that.
Edit: I don't check this very often, so took a look and now mine is showing the #. I know it was "unknown" for a month or two after I got the phone at the end of July, but there was a period where it did show the #, then the JI6 update seemed to set it back to unknown. Now the # is back. No idea what would make it toggle like that.
I don't see why this is so "huge" that everyone mentions the Unknown under your phone number...? It doesn't affect anything. MMS isn't affected by this.
Anywho, Slight lag in the applications drawer though but it's very subtle and the issues with MMS picture quality (but hopefully that's fixed after Froyo is "Officially" released.
One more thing, last night I was on EDGE and pulled the status bar down to activate Wifi. It just said "ON" underneath it and didn't do anything, so I went into the settings and looked and stated "ERROR". Tried again to activate it and it didn't do anything, actually locked the phone for a few seconds then the phone started vibrating when I touched the screen. After that I got back to the Settings menu and activated Wifi again and it went through.. weird.
Otherwise no other issues I've run into.
Unknown number is not a huge problem as you can make/receive calls and text. Only thing I've run into is that you can't use the Verizon Fios Remote DVR app since it's tied to your phone number. That ws my only problem anyway.
Off topic, I've tried a lot of the customized ROMs and leaks. Seems I'm always back to stock JI6 which works great for me with the exception of it being a little laggy. Been trying the Voodoo lag fix on it but can't get it to work on JI6. But that's a completely different topic....
Going to stick with JI6 until the official Froyo comes out.
Can you guys send MMS? I get a server error everytime I try?
I have the Phone number unknown as well. My Home button is what is giving me problems. It is very temperamental. Doesn't work most of the time.

Can send and receive mms. quality sucks though as of right now..
Odin'd the leaked *untouched* ROM.
I just odin JK6 and I can confirm my does say unknown for phone number. One thing I have noticed is before if you used to volume rocker to lower the ringer, you then reach vibrate and then silent. Now the phone simply goes into vibrate, nothing lower then that.

Which I like, I never used Silent, only vibrant. I freaking bought the Beautiful Widgets for the button for Vibrant, now all I have to do is drag down the status bar and change it.
I think you can change the function of the button/rocker in the Settings.. as far as what it does, silent/vibrate
Not sure if its a bug, but at one point the web browser kept popping up an error saying there is no Internet connectivity, click retry or ok. I was on wifi at the time. A reboot cleared it out, but it happening was odd.
I was just wondering if it just me or it is the ROM it self. To me, if it said unknown mean there is some issue with the rom, not goin to blame anyone since it is not official.
I can confirm the volume rocker too, it goes to vibrate at the lowest. The silent from the notification just make the phone vibrate as well.
I did have some trouble with 3G this morning. Tried to get on navigation and it just say "getting direction" for a while. When i look back i dont have Edge or 3G icon, check in status it said GPRS. I rebooted the phone andgot 3g back. Kind of weird. I hope the final come soon....
Can anyone help here? I'm running a T-Mobile SGT7, and it runs great, with the Sapir version of CM10 from the development section.
The dreaded Phantom Voicemail has returned. The options to turn off Voicemail Notifications under PHONE do not exist in this version, and I can't seem to get any help getting rid of it. It is annoying as hell, because every time my phone comes out of airplane mode, I have to hear the notification sound go off (even though the voicemail notification sound is set to SILENT), and the icon just won't go away.
Steps I've taken.
1. Notified erezak, the guy making Sapir, multiple times.
2. Searched for any known fixes. Found none for CM10 at least, other than for Sprint devices. They seem device specific.
3. Looked for the setting under phone, which doesn't exist in CM10 for some reason, though it was there for CM9...
4. Froze the Mobile Data (voicemail, in Titanium Backup) app in Settings/Apps. Comes back the next time airplane mode is turned off.
5. Uninstalled the Mobile Data app (in Titanium Backup), and the Phone keeps crashing until I reboot. When I reboot, the notification is gone, but I also don't get any bars for phone. I need it for AGPS.
Keep in mind, I do NOT use the actual phone option here, as the device is installed in the dashboard of my car, but place calls with it using Tablet Talk to my phone.
Also, the SGSIII had this going on, and they added the fix for it some time ago. If you don't know what Phantom Voicemails are, it is getting a voicemail notification that cannot be cleared, at all. The phone on my tablet has never been used.
Suggestions?
Over a thousand views, several ROM updates, and the option to disable voicemail notifications still isn't here.
The fix for CM10 for other devices is there, can't we just pull that?
Perhaps this could help get this fixed for us?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465504
I'm having issues with the build system again.
However, the next build will contain the option to disable the notification.
My apologies for the time it took.
Missing voicemail icon
I am new to CM10 rom and I would just like to be able to put a voicemail icon on my home screen, latest version I flashed tonight did not have that anywhere that I could find....a little help please.
Thanks

The other day a young girl about 200 miles away decided to steal her daddys truck and go meet an older pervert she met on the interwebs. Well an Amber alert was issued and my phone woke me up, and the orange triangle with a number stayed on my phone. I was told by verison that it would not disappear until the alert was canceled. It was canceled and it is still on the phone and Verizon now says they just don't know how to make it go away. I can live with that but I don't ever want to hear another Amber alert. I am not cold or uncaring but I think that the Amber thingie is missuses for children that are missing but safe. I can set it to not go off except for presidential alerts and I had it set but it went off anyway. I don't want to root and there seem to be no solutions on the internets yet. I would think that with the proper file viewer I could go in and switch the sound file to an empty or super quiet audio file. Sort of a windows work around. Anyone here know how to do this? I am not android literate but I can follow directions.
I don't know if you are on lollipop yet, but for me there is an actual app called "Emergency Alerts" in the app drawer. The setting are in there.
I think on kitkat, the settings were in the Messaging app.
