I I started to click through my applications one by one after I was experiencing drain, despite barely having used my phone for the day. I found two rogue apps that I haven't used once taking up battery life. I'll bet this is why Android System is so high on SD phones. One of them is Knox, which doesn't even show up on my app drawer, but can't be uninstalled. The other is Setup Wizard, same deal. Check out the screenshots. There's no reason these should be draining battery. Or even in use.
Any suggestions on how to fix?
And... Turns out someone else figured this out and found a solution that fixes the battery issue. See link. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ct9K7iRifUg
The system processes are all linked together and share the same battery drain levels, so it's not necessarily Knox or the Setup Wizard that are the rogue apps. I suggest disabling all carrier apps installed and then disable whichever Samsung or Android apps you don't use. For me the biggest drain was the AT&T Updater, it would consume data even though there were no updates to be downloaded, there's no need for it to be running in the background unless there's an actual update.
Also, when there is a phone update be sure to re-enable all your apps before updating. Just export your configuration to an XML beforehand.

Yeah, you can't just disable all bloatware. If you take the time and disable what you know you don't use, is excellent.
For example, just the ANTs, the GEARs and the fonts, battery life rockets!
Also, rather than disabling say Facebook on the system, which forces you to revert to the Factory installed version, with this, if you need to use any blocked item, you just unlock it, no need to re download from the store, no need to update.
It's like a switch. This app is excellent. It's a lifeline, first thing I install on all my Samsungs now.
Quickly followed by Shutapp.
Have you used package disabler, and actually seen the android system battery drain go away?
Just asking, not provoking. Except for ant and a couple other things, I can disable or Uninstall most everything in the phone. Until, if at all root comes, it works for me. What's the advantages of package disabler. For me it just caused errors and upon boot, told me my system was unlocked

Package Disabler. I am going to check this out. I have been experimenting with Android and Samsung since the Tab S and I am finally jumped ship from the virus Apple. Been very happy since!

I had a Evo before and the Android System used maybe 15% of the battery (as seen in the battery stats section of the settings.) Now I have an Evo with far worse battery life, and it says that 55% of the juice is being used by Android System? Anyone know why, or how to fix it? These are essentially stock Evos, no rooting or such. Thanks.

Mine says 30% right now but that's with me playing on it for a while tonight. Try a battery pull, or reset it.

Click on it and see how many apps "android system" contains. Also if you havent made any phone calls or used 3rd party apps to much "android system" will occupy most of the battery.
Ok, did some research and found that people have been having issues with version 1 of the HTCfacebook app keeping the phone awake all the time and killing the battery. Seems.it.can not he deleted on non-rooted phones, but I did force close it and the drain on the battery seems to have slowed, and the system is down to 30% battery usage. now, does anyone know how I might delete this app without root? (this is the app which comes preinstalled and runs all the time in the background, not the one downloaded from the market.)

Did you make sure it's not set for auto sync using the HTCfacebook app?
You should be able to update it to the newer version that fixed that issue. No need to delete.
How does one update the preinstalled version? Thx.

I re-read one of your posts and noticed that its the htc facebook that's giving you the problem.
You should be able to download facebook for android (ver. 1.3.2 I believe) on the market and that should become your default facebook app and solve your issue.
Thanks lovethyEVO, I have done that but the default app keeps running in the background
Wonder if you went to settings, applications, and found the bad fb. App. Then hit clear defaults. Now set the upgraded version as default. Idk. It might work
Was going to suggest an autostarts type of app, since you can't uninstall it unless your rooted, but it looks like you have to be rooted on autostarts also. You can maybe try to find one that doesn't need root, or an autokill type of app. You can't uninstall it, but maybe you can keep it under control.

My phone gets down to 70% after less than 2 hours. It used to take probably like 3 or 4 hours to get to 70%. But I've also looked at the battery status and it says "Android Core Apps" has used 33% after an hour and 47 minutes on the battery. Look at the screenshot I attached. Please help?!

Idk if I wiped cache and dalvic but no I didn't restore anything from tb I restored apps from kies because I got the mf9 update from kies.
I wpuld suggest Backup your apps/data using mybackup. Redownload ROM, go into recovery, wipe /data /cache /dalvic, reflash, and restore apps (apks w/o data I get FCS fro, apk+data) and data. Should fix your battery problem.

I say go odin back to stock mf9 and check whether your phone still gets hot or anything and to let your battery sink in for awhile then root and install your rom. Before doing this back up apps and internal memory since it will wipe it clean.

Having the same problem here.
Any help appreciated.
Same, MF9 update from MDL stock, unrooted
I'm having the same issue (coming from MDL stock, unrooted).
Is it the ROM? Is it Google Play? I'm not sure anymore, but i'm severely annoyed.
I had this problem until
I was experiencing the same issue on my phone. note I'm stock and not rooted. Until I updated the samsung apps.
For some reason the samsung app store had an update and was constantly waking my phone for the update, but because I had never agreed to the TOS(becuase I never opened the app) it wouldn't update resulting in battery drain.
I stumbled on the answer in a forum in regards to the G Note II. I was skeptical as to why it wouldn;t show the samsung app as being the culprit(something about using the google services core functions to update), but I know that it worked.
I'm sure an experienced dev can better explain why it shows as android os and not the Samsung app causing the drain.
If you already removed/froze those apps though I suppose you have a different issue.

Just did that and I never opened the "Samsung Apps" app too and just got the update. Hopefully this will fix it (Google Play services drain). Thanks man!
Shut down
Battery out for 30 secs
Restart
Worked for me
You could try a different kernel too. I use AGAT's Kernel. That kernel gives me SO much more battery juice.

I've been having battery issues lately and i noticed that my Android System battery usage is just through the roof. last night it was at 100% charge at around 2AM and when i woke up at 11AM it was floating around 51% charge and the Android System Usage was at 50%. Is there any fix to this because it is really killing my battery life and ruining my experience.
I was running Nova and thought that was the issue so i uninstalled it, but it didnt seem to do anything. It seemed to be worse with the account and sync off and locations off, but thats just bizarre. I am also running dashclock pro but i doubt that is what is causing it. I uninstalled every app that i dont regularly use and the usage is about the same.
I am running Stock 4.4.2 on my phone is that helps.
Edit - Also, when i turned everything off, it seems to be using the WiFI almost non stop. I have no background tasks or anything. I'm thinking its CarrierIQ thing on ATT but i dont see a way to disable it on KitKat

Wouldnt i have to root to get rid of them?
Also i think i fixed it by uninstalling all the updates for each ATT app, force stopping, and disabling them. My battery returned to normal.
I've been debating if I should do a factory reset because since updating to 7.0 the battery life hasn't been as good as it should be. So I'm wondering what the community thinks I should do and getting everything back is a pain in the ass. Battery life hasn't been the best since 6.0 when it was using the february security patch and I can't even go back down to that.
Has anyone had better battery life after factory resetting?

I prefer BK Disabler, the color codes used by PDP for the different types of packages is not as good as the tabbed view used by BK Disabler. At least for me.
Edit: another advantage of BKD is you can disable unnecessary services too.

I did a factory reset with wiping all cash twice and it didn't help. The battery life stayed as horrible as it was after the update.
Want to mention that i didn't disable any app when using my phone on Android 6.0.1. I had AOT turned on and my battery could handle up to 1.5 - 2 days. Now it's less than a day :/
Also, I wonder, if Samsung reduced the phone's battery life after the Note 7 problems (I've read couple of articles that they were planning to reduce it from 3600mAh to 3000mAh). Does anyone have any correct information about that ?
Thanks.

Hey guys I just bought the Turbopower Pack mod for my phone but I still have Marshmallow and I don’t want to update to Nougat but the battery won’t work on Marshmallow. Was wondering if there was a specific app that makes it work like a new version of Moto Mod Manager or some sort of battery mod manager and if so can someone extract it and send it to me?
Easiest way to extract an app from your phone is File Manager from the play store go to apps and backup the app you’re looking for and it will back it up to a backup folder where you can email it or upload it to google drive or anywhere you want.
Thanks

While there is always a chance that things will go haywire when updating the OS, I'm running Nougat on my Z Force, and the battery life is incredible. Matched with the Incipio wireless battery bank, I can get up to 4 days of battery life easily. However, it's a function of maintaining a streamlined group of installed apps, and watching it closely. I have a couple of apps that I need, one is a bluetooth pet tracker, which I know burns the battery quickly. So, I just make sure when I'm done, I go to the app and kill it right away. But it's important to watch the battery usage list closely and see what's using the juice. I'm now 3 hours into my day and the main battery is at 98% and the Incipio is at 100%. By the end of the day, in Efficiency Mode, I'll probably be at 80% Main, and in the 80's% on the Incipio. However, I don't sit on FB or YT all day long, so your mileage may vary.
The point is, Nougat is supposed to be a more efficient OS than Marshmallow, all else equal. I would not reject doing an update simply because you are worried you might run into an issue. The majority of updates go fine. And, look into the battery mods - they are the greatest things ever.
