Safest Debloating app for S6 Edge+ - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, having just upgraded to MM I went in to check ram usuage and was shocked to see it at 2GB used/2 GB Avaliable. I dont have any apps installed and I assume its bloat doing this. Whats the safest debloating app out there? I dont wish to download a launcher, how much ram am I likely to free up if I keep TouchWhiz?

I'll consider yourself lucky, I only have less than 500 MB free most of the time. You could always install the new custom Marshmallow ROM that a developer has created.

Freeing up RAM isn't going to make TouchWiz any smoother. Android does not manage RAM like Windows.
Also, there is a debloating thread in the General section already, and a sticky that says questions should not be posted in the General section
Edit: It looks like the mods have moved your thread to the q&a section.

Like other people have stated it will not make a difference android uses ram with this motto in mind "free ram is wasted ram" but if you still want to try free up some ram try package disabler it's on the playstore if i remember correctly it costs £1.50. Just make sure you know what you are disabling and make sure you read about package disabler first before you use it. I used it to disable most of the samsung preloaded apps which i then replaced with others applications of the play store.
Do give package disabler a try it's very good if you know what you are doing.

Thanks for the replies guys. Amar, I read that Package disabler pro may trip Knox?? Is this true? Would it happen if I tampered with Knox related apps with it?

It does not trip knox

Oh and btw, touch wiz with 6.0.1 is a lot smoother, but I'd still suggest installing Google Launcher and Keyboard (Samsung keybordbis heavy on mem due to clipboard feature). I can provide the file I use on my phone with package disabler.

Clean custom rom to recommend?

Hi all,
I'm new to android & I'm equally frustrated about the lack of internal storage. I'm on a 16GB S4 I9505 & like many users, out of box storage is limited. I would like to know if there's a custom rom that works well despite being clean, smooth & allows better battery life than the stock JB 4.2.2.
I've tried using Titanium Backup to try removing bloatware like S Health & ChatOn but the list is too long to carry on removing one by one. Not mentioning I do not have much knowledge about android & am worried that if I removed the wrong app, might screw up the phone itself.
Therefore I'm searching for a clean custom rom which is debloated, runs smoothly & give me more battery life out of the device.
I tend to browse the Web, text, watch videos on YouTube & maybe just some games. Any recommendations would be welcomed & please help me by providing more information such as what bloatwares are removed etc as I might still need some of the basic apps.
Regards.
Try the CyanogenMod roms. They are fully clean and pretty fast. Before you flash it ,make a backup of your phone/ rom so you can switch back to it if you don't like it.
--edit: you can find those roms in the official galaxy s4 i9505 development forum.

+1 ^^
If you dont wanna loose ALL the samsung/touchwiz features then above is a good option.
If you like stock rom, BUT find its usually just a little to slow/bloated
And also like the ability to flash custom kernel/recovery then the rom's in the link posted above are really nice.
You could do all the things to the your base rom to make it the same as the ones in above posted link, but the 1 file flash via odin is so convenient for most.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I kept reading about custom kernels etc but I'm not really sure what it does & which one is the better ones or best out there.

[Q] S4 i9505 WanamLite install space left?

Hi all,
New here, i have a rooted S4, installed WanamLite ROM and all is ok but i have a question...
On my original stock ROM i had only 9gb of space left so i installed the WanamLite ROM, since in this ROM a lot of bloatware
is removed one would assume that one would have more than 9gb of space left but no, still only 9gb to use for apps and stuff!
Anyone knows why?
Thks.

Off the top of my head, Wanam may have lost a few hundred MB of bloat, but probably not enough to knock a massive dent in your storage.

Ok, then that makes sense, oh well, will keep it for now. Thks.
I think it doesn't matter what is removed from the rom you are installing, it's probably the same because of the partition size that is reserved for the system.

How to get the best performance AND stability out of our Galaxy s3(Noob friendly)

BRACE YOURSELVES,LONG POST COMING!!
So,this phone is my very first one since 2013,and because i LOVE to tinker every software(even on pc) i decided to tinker my very first smartphone to the best performance possible !
I Learned a lot about this phone and 2 years later i decided to help others reach this point of optimization for this phone..
MY choice for android version for this phone is Jellybean(4.3) and i can explain why.
I choose this version because we want to operate our phone without A-N-Y bugs or FC's...
I choose this version because we want to get the best out of our camera....
i chose this version because I think(please dont sent hate posts) its the lightest software WHILE maintaning stability :fingers-crossed:
Well lets get started then!!
ROM:The best jellybean rom in terms of performance PLUS stability (my personal opinion again) is Just archi'shttp://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...m-justarchis-sammy-stock-deodex-root-t2855613, (IMHO The best developer for this phone ).
this rom use very little resources and it is as close to stock as possible with the basics (in terms of flexibility) baked in :good:
Also we all hate to admit that Sammy stock ROM is the most optimized because their sources is closed (so in sammies 4.4.2 -4.4.4 that developers port is laggy after some long term use so we cant blame them).
KERNEL: I chose this kernel because WHILE having enough stability,it delivers MASSIVE performance boost-And this is Boeffla's in synergy with zanezam's boeffla kernel with uber toolchain http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/kernel-boeffla-kernel-linaro-zzmoove-t2629184 http://boeffla.df-kunde.de/zanezam/linaro/i9300/samsung/jb43/stable/. THUMBS UP TO THESE DEVELOPERS :good: !!!
OPTIMIZATIONS: I'D like to share my boeffla kernel profile.this profile is aimed just a bit to performance while having good Sot's (4 hours+)...
Use Greenify!!! Its the best app available capable of hibernate you apps of CHOICE,freeing RAM to make the device snappy
i'd recomment to use it with XPOSED as you have more options to hibernate even system apps! :good:
ADBLOCK: use Adaway. It saves you from these ads that not only they are irritating, but you save a LOT of cpy cycles, which means cooler phone, still snappy while browsing etc.
Xposed modules:the only frustration about this rom for me is that it has no advanced reboot.. But its obvious because rom is as close to stock as possible). so if you want this you must install APM+ module found in download section inside xposed installer or by this link: http://repo.xposed.info/module/hk.kennethso168.xposed.apmplus.
SOUND:After a lot of scripts and mods about sound in our phone,i decided to settle to [/FONT]V4A app and their drivers because it has INSANE volume boost WHILE maintaining quality :good: .
music application of choice is "Music" by SONY because i find it to work best with V4A. just move the apk to system app to work.normal install dont work!
SYSTEM APPS REMOVAL: I removed those system apps, freeing a good chunk of storage AND RAM, WHILE maintaining stability and no FC'S or bugs or anything.
there is the following:
ChocoEUKor
RoseEUKor
SNS
PanningtryActually.apk
Best face
My Files
Adapt sound(needed to install V4A)
Capability manager service
simcardpermission
CoolEUkor
DirectConnectManager
Direct ShareManager
DroidSerifitalic
Enterprise permissions
Multimedia ui service layer
Page buddy noti svc
Remote controls
Samsung link connectivity
SyncmlDS
daydreams
Live wallpaper support
contacts sync Google
Nfc
Internet(stock browser,replace w ith chrome)
Music FX
vpn dialogs
deep sea
voice record
FWDupgrade
music sto ck app
Cloud agent
bcservice
enterprise sim pinservice
Flashbar service
syscope service
vpn services
factory mode
factory mode
factory test
ims framework
indiservicemanager
MDMApp
OMACP
pickup tutorial
ultracfg
And with all that, i achieved very little Ram consumption and less Cpu cycles :good:
I hope you find this useful!
see attachments for my RAM usage without pressing clear all, and boeffla kernel profile of my own.give it a try!
sorry for long post!
cheers!

Thanks for this, just what I needed, I just got this phone.. upgraded from galaxy s1 =) .. looking for a close to stock experience with some adds, without any bugs, ( on s1 we had "SauROM" ) .. I hope theres something similar for this device. Maybe ill try archis , is there any other alternatives?

well, I must say that you should use the rom in the link first to see if you like sammy stock but a bit modded.there are many roms but ported Roms e.g Blekotas roms are indeed beautiful BUT due time eventually it starts to lag, which is not developers fault, its just a port.

I have a issue, When I tried to install the zip, my CWM has no options to do so. All I have done so far is install CF-root. Do I need to install a recovery separately? how and what recovery should I install? Should I get boeffla kernel first?
And is there anything I should be worried about, do I need to update bootloader or anything like that. my current version is: i9300XXUGNA5 , with CF root.
Just flash TWRP not cwm its not compatible

Go to playstore and install supersu, it will say that root binary must be updated.it will ask you to reboot if it is successful. Then go to playstorw again and install twrp manager.and install twrp.it should be quick!

Uber 600 is a toolchain and it should be the best kernel for this phone because its faster than other toolchains, but is just a tad less stable.it worth flashing though!!

I keep getting software update notifications, but I have installed a newer firmware (archis) than what I think the phone want to download (the latest version for my region, sweden is older than archis firmware in his thread).
going into settings I do not really see a option to disable to search for these updates.
Do you also get this?
You need to edit this post, you should not be advertising warez ...
The developer of the app in question is also a member of these forums and I wouldn't like him seeing other members pointing to his software being cracked...

Do you really think 4.3 makes impact on Camera quality???
Thanks to the OP and some comments here! Maybe black themes like this could help with the battery life as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/themes-apps/vrtheme-allbacksblack-s3-3-hologrey-t2341829

Use SD as internal storage

Hello All
A friend is visiting me and he wants to use the SD as internal storage on his SM J500F phone.
I only found one article on XDA. Can someone confirm if this is a working solution?
Thanks
tell him not to do it, it will slow his phone down and decrease perfomance

Yes, a lot of apps will be crashing, because most of apps nowdays are not meant to be stored on sd card, and phone storage will never be same as sd card storage, that is why the perfomance will go down.
Well in my opinion is one of the best options to be made to a j5 as it does not have enough storage to support the apps of today so my recommendation would be to put internal sd and leave you the necessary zip to do it
I think better option is to move to to SD card, by doing this i have 2.5 gb available, even though i have so many apps, but still, he can give adoptable storage a try and decide for himself

There is a method for Root users via Root Essentials or work around stock settings. I was able to get Adopted internal storage on stock 6.0.1, No luck on CM13 as the kernel doesent allow it.
@kiwigi I think that better is a debloated Rom and native app2sd. You should test and pick what you find better for you. I personally avoid as much as I can craps like Facebook, Snapchat, etc. which are always the great responsible of out of memory and so.

Thanks. Have you got a suggestion for a debloated tomorrow? Or is there an option of rooting then debloated ourselves?
Or root and move apps to SD?

Actually, googling things like debloated AOSP, debloated Lineage bring us very interesting things. We know that all stock roms need root and our work to recover valuable space. I like the CM/AOSP branded roms. There are lot of threads here in XDA about customize and debloat and apps to do such and that works with SD managing as well ?
Hopefully now there are plenty J5 roms for you to taste and choose.?
I want to use sd card as internal storage, and use it to download large files from playstore, but could not find solution please help.

Wich kernel or Rom should i install?

I'm new on Samsung before I was using oneplus 3 and before this i was using iPhone I need performance and battery same time my phone is getting quick hot only with chrome using too its 37 Celsius I need suggestions pls
Do u guys even read the rules? Wrong place. This belongs in Q&A!!!
You probably have conflicting apps running in the background causing your cpu to run hard. What makes you think rooting and custom roms are the fix ?
If you dont know how to spot and cure your device from conflicting apps that you probably introduced to the system, then you dont want to root or install custom roms as you will just run into more problems and headach ( most likely brick your device and void your warranty).
Cheers !

But with root I can disable few things in Stock etc of course I can reduce battery ram and cpu usage with root on exkernel manager with oneplus it was easy to do this things i mean reduce the cpu usage but on Samsung it is very different for me as noob user.
I can with root disable background apps better like with greenify etc...
If u guys help me it will be very nice thanks...
I think there is a way and answer for this...
Use package disabler pro from google store to disable ( freeze ) unwanted stock apps/ services, there are many threads here that should guide you in this process.
