[Q] calibrate s pen? pointer and pen tip are off by 2mm

I just noticed the s pen tip and floating pointer on screen are always off by 2mm. This occurred on both my ATT and T-mobile note 3 so it is not an isolated case. Anyone else experienced this issue? What is your fix?

Thank you for confirming this. I wonder why they don't have a digitizer calibration feature in setting like Windows?
From a technology point of view, due to the way the S Pen works, it should not require calibration
In laymen's terms, think of capacitive touchscreens, which do not require calibration, the first reason is because capacitive touch sensors always have auto calibration, the second reason is that your screen is divided into multiple rows and columns, so even if a measurement is wrong by 10%, that 10% over a small area is not really noticeable
With the old resistive touchscreen technology, calibration is required, because the screen is one gigantic resistor and 10% error in measurement means a error that is as big as 10% of your screen size. Also resistive touchscreens are constructed with two layers and these layers get bent, and wear out over time.
The S Pen technology is elecromagnetic, and it also sort of uses multiple rows and columns ("Under the tablet's surface (or LCD in the case of the Cintiq) is a printed circuit board with a grid of multiple send/receive coils and a magnetic reflector attached behind the grid array."), thus, it is similar to capacitive touchscreens in the sense that measurement errors are usually unnoticeable by the user.
Thus why nobody implemented calibration
If I were you, I'd exchange the phone for a new one if possible.
I have the feeling this is an issue with newer builds of touchwiz. On the note 8 once it was updated to 4.2.2 the pen was accuracy became offset. The only fix to it as of now is running a custom kernel that fixed the accuracy. Hopefully we get a similar fix soon from xda and of course an official fix from Samsung.

I think this is a design feature. If you change it to left handed operation the pointer will be 2mm off to the right instead of the left. I recall this being so you can see the dot instead of being obscured by your own hand and pen. This was the same on my Note 2.
This should only apply to the pointer though, not to an actual touch.
EDIT: THIS WAS SO ON MY NOTE 2, but upon checking it is not so on my NOTE 3. My pen dot lines up perfectly.
I know this is an old thread, but there are always new owners to an old device.
If you have an SGH-I467 (AT&T) version with 4.4.2, the right/left hand dominant switch is not available. The workaround would be turning your tablet upside down with the auto rotate enabled so that your app would be right side up again. What you achieve here is moving the pointer from under your nib, if you are right handed, to the other side where you can see it so that you know where to drop down your pen to start drawing.

If you have an SGH-I467 (AT&T).
But this is not the forum for that model .

Knock code issue...

I've just received the update to give me knock code and I'm loving it but I do have an issue.
My knock code is set in the lower two quadrants of the screen... However, if I knock the code in the correct pattern in the top two quadrants then it also unlocks my phone.
Similar problem if I set a code that only uses the left hand quadrants... I can unlock my phone knocking my code in the right hand quadrants.

Quick Hack To A Faster Finger Print Scanner

Hi guys,
I went through some reviews and my own experience too, and observed that the fingerprint scanner gets slower ans you increase the number of fingerprints towards 5.
More the fingers, more the time and more slower the scanner!!
So here is what i figured out -
Our OnePlus 2 scanner is not like touchID in the sense that it DOES NOT make us scan all parts of the finger. It does ask for the print multiple times, but it does not compel you to do it with all parts of the finger.
so here is what i did -
start scanning for 1 finger - do around 60-70% of scanning with your major finger ( eg thumb ) and then do the remaining 30 - 40% with another finger ( like index finger )
This way , I have 4 fingers configured in 2 prints. One for left thumb and index and one for left thumb and index. I did major part thumb and minor part index finger.
Also, make sure when you aree scanning any finger, you hold the device in various ways you generally do in daily usage and scan your fingers at all those angles. :good:
This hack has let me have around 96-98% accuracy and its really quick!!
Try it and cast your votes above!!
Cheers! :highfive:
will bear this in mind when i get mine today
So how much slower does it get per added profile? I've got my doubts about accuracy too..

3 fingers was quite slow for me...
2 fingers is fast... Idk how, but there was a huge difference in 2 & 3... Didn't try more than that...
Accuracy, i have around 95-98% accuracy...
As ive said, if you make sure while scanning itself, that you hols your phone in all the possible positions that you normal hold your phone in and then do the scans, it increases the accuracy rate a lot... Since youve made sure to scan the "most probably used parts" of your finger...

Got ripped off 950XL with faulty camera OIS and dead primary mic. PLS HELP ME FIX IT

Hi,
Yesterday I bought a Lumia 950xl freshly out of warranty for around 170 USD off local classifieds ad.
I didn't get time to check the calling since my Sim 1 is VoLTE only and other sim wasn't a nano sim.
And Camera I thought was proper.
But later on I saw that camera just couldn't focus at all and then when i tried calling, the other person couldn't hear me at all.
I managed to get my hands on Lumia Test tool. Which confirmed something wrong with Camera OIS and Primary Mic.
Here's the whole report...

I found following replacement items for sale..
1) Replacement back cam module
https://www.maxbhi.com/back-camera-...oGUDnDuwLVnvpbPFDMGf3_6CmRjpUeSxoCpvoQAvD_BwE
2) Replacement Mic Module
https://www.maxbhi.com/microphone-m...zPFXAYUiN5yFo81FKMzQbP23hQW_8_i-cAaAkEs8P8HAQ
I think I can personally replace the cam module and get the mic soldered from a repair shop.
But what I want to know is...
WILL IT FIX IT?
Or is there something else that might be wrong as well?
Any other tips or suggestions welcome. THANKS.
