Zenfone 5 T00J Lots of issues (KK4.4.2 1GB model) - Zenfone 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good day,
I bought that cell in a normal shop on my city. It was well packed, sealed and sticks are normal.
In the box it says ASUS_T00J(A501CG), serial number matchs, imeis matches too and all seemed normal except two sticks on lateral all in chinese (one of them mention tenaa.com.cn)
Randomly I have issues, like:
Fast wipe, don't charging, self-reboot, slow opening, slow working, gets warm or quite hot when calling, slow 3G download speed, cannot hide outgoing number on only one card, problems installing apps from GP, problems with some wifis AP, problems with 3G coverage or signal, touch panel random sensibility, easy to press home/back/menu buttons when chat due keyboard proximity...
Well, at least with those problems, works....
I tried to ask Asus Tech calling them and said that my cellphone do not have warranty as it is imported from China and it is not a WW version. But it is printed on strick A501CG Black WW 3G D 8Gb ¿EMMC? 1Gb RAM on back cover saig ASUS_T00J and some numbers and letter in chinese. At battery side, there two sticks all in chinese (one with imeis and serial number and other with model, wcdma XXX power in volt and some chinese letters more).
I do not understand why they deny to "solve" my battery not charging problem in warranty after asking SN.
I do not said compilation version nor it was rooted nor WW 2.20.40.13 release was installed (I played dumb/luser mode when asking help). I am really dissapointed by buying that cellphone besides it teorically good specs.
What do you thing about? What is better/stable firmware version for my cell? Any ideas?
I know that all service care in my country have the order "they buy it, if not really broken, it is not our fault besides on other countries, published notes, agreed the problem and they ask to replace, free of charge, the product without asking or argue it.." Like some Apple/Dell/HP laptops batteries or products with big stock problems. Here, they just ignore the client and they make the UX horrible. Surely you know what I mean.
Thanks a lot!!!!
PS: I solved charging problem cleaning cache partition. No idea why it become "cache" related with battery not charging. but it works another time, until happens other time.

That 1GB Model is just terrible. I got it for my grandfather. I regret that purchase. I should've rather picked the 1.6GHz model. In fact ZenFone 4.5 would've been better as well.
As for the battery, some data is stored in the cache so it made sense that you got it fixed by wiping cache.

[Q] I9505: No WCDMA/LTE after phone damage & repair

Hello,
I had my phone water damaged and repaired, but now my WCDMA/LTE doesn't work and I have some suspicions they had a faulty repair on my phone. Here's a timeline of the events to understand why"
1. Bought I9505 (I live in europe, hence the european version). All worked fine, had HSDPA (no 4g when I bought it 2 years ago, since my carrier didn't support it yet).
2. Did a small dent in the phone's screen (cracked glass in the upper corner, near proximity sensor, tiny piece of glass missing [1mm], but touch screen worked fine)
3. Dropped it in water while on vacation. Quickly took out battery, bought a bag of rice and held it in rice for ~20h, hoping the water would be absorbed.
4. Next day I fully charged then turned on my phone, it was connected to 3g, I was receiving facebook notifications, my mother called me at one point and ringtone was working. The only problem: touch screen didn't respond at all so I couldn't answer or unlock my screen.
5. Took it to a local service, they changed my screen (and did a full reset on my phone that I wasn't asked permission for - that I didn't understand why, but I thought who knows, maybe they needed it for the screen change). However, I wasn't upset since I was more interested in getting my touch screen to work, and it did.
6. HERE's THE PROBLEM: yes, they fixed my touch screen, but now i have to use it only in "GSM only" network mode, since the others don't work: whenever I choose any of the other options ("WCDMA/GSM, WCDMA only, WCDMA/GSM/LTE"), I lose signal completely, and I get "Not registered on network" message when trying to call. I should mention that APN setting are correct and I tried the SIM in another phone and it worked. I also tried another SIM in my phone and it didn't work.
7. Somehow I thought it might've been the water damage and I was ok (although upset) with it. But I searched the internet for answers since I thought maybe I'd fix my phone due to a software/bad config problem. I used ODIN to flash different versions of official firmwares with no success.
8. HERE's WHY I'm SUSPICIOUS: I found some piece of information that said the LTE/WCDMA(data) module is embedded in the display, not in the motherboard. Upon further research, i found the USSD code *#2663# that tells me the display is from a SGH-I337 (S4 model used in the US). Thus, if the data module truly is embedded in the display, that would render my data service useless, since the US frequency is not the same with EU frequency.
What do you guys think ?
Is it truly the display's fault or did I get erroneous information regarding the WCDMA/LTE ?
Am I entitled to negotiate with them because they put an incompatible component on my phone for a partial refund or is this my phone's fault ?
Is there any way to force the frequency somehow so my phone works (rooting & modifying some modem files maybe) ?
I'm sorry if I had some presumtious/loaded questions, but it's all information that I had from the internet.
Thank you for your patience to read all of this.
Do us a favor please? Enter download mode (Volume -, Home, Power) and read off the model number listed there. Reason being that I suspect your phone was totally replaced, with an AT&T model.
Did that just now, the product name says GT-I9505. The IMEI is also the same as before (checked with the product packaging it came with when I bought it). Could they have any way to overwrite this stuff ? Because your knack is not unfounded - under the battery, the IMEI/SN sticker seems to have been peeled and re-glued since it's wrinkly and misaligned.
Worst part is they're authorized Samsung service partners, that's the reason I went to them and not another service. (I can find them on the samsung website, when looking for service locations)
It sounds like they simply moved your motherboard into an AT&T midframe. I'd take it back to them posthaste and have them fix it properly. Because LTE isn't working, and it was before they did their work, they are responsible.

Note 4 screen locking up intermittently

Hi all
[Originally posted this in the Verizon Note 4 forum accidentally, so apologies if you've seen it already]
My Note 4 screen has started locking up (i.e. continuing to work in the background and the screen is still responding to system events (SMS notifications etc) but it is not responding to touch.
I have tried several factory resets, after which the screen stays responsive for about 3 or 4 pages, then locks up again.
Background: the phone was rooted about a year ago, to get around the SD card restriction, and has worked fine up until the last week. I gave the phone to a friend who put CWM-based recovery manager and the latest Samsung Android 5.1.1 on it. After setting the phone up successfully and downloading all my apps on to it and getting everything running perfectly, I used CWM to back up the OS image onto the SD card.
Phone worked great for about a day, then started freezing. Wiping the caches / restoring / factory resets and all permutations of these have so far proved ineffective...
I took the phone in to a repair shop last night, the guy reckoned the problem was down to a poor screen replacement, and they hadn't used the correct bonding cement, and that the screen had separated from the LCD such that capacitance couldn't do its thing.
However if this were the case, the screen would not work at all, even briefly after a system reset.
The repairer is simply dismantling and rebuilding the phone to see if it's a loose/dirty connector somewhere. He's not going to try to fix it with firmware/software.
Any pointers or suggestions gratefully received
Vaughan
I was getting stutters like this, and after a month my phone started shutting down when I hit 50% or so. I replaced the battery off eBay, and that cleared the problem up. I think sine quickcharge 2.0 batteries fail faster than they should, but a Sammy battery is only $6.50 or so, so I don't mind buying one more often fir the quickcharge benefits.
Maybe try a new battery?
Samsung original screen replacements always come with AMOLED+Touchscreen.
If the guy only replaced the touchscreen you have a fake one and yeah i don't need to tell you about chinese replica's quality.
I myself work at a smartphone repair shop and we only use original products to get the best quality for our customers. It's more expensive that way i know but thats better than putting sh*t in there ands the customer needs to come back with the phone.

Thanks for that Mr Cherry..
So it's the dodgy glass doing it? It's definitely not the genuine Samsung part as it gets covered in grease as soon as you touch it.
The weird thing is, if it was the glass then I'd assume it wouldn't work at all; whereas when I do a factory reset it works for a short while then stops...
Baffling.

Galaxy s4 almost bricked

Hello. I want to start off and say that even tho i used a lot of phones Samsung fits me bets. With that in mind i want to tell the story of my broken s4 i9505. I bought it new and used it about 2 years until i got and iphone 5s. The phone remaind in a drawer with the intention of selling some time but forgot about it, then i used the phone once a week or so paired with moto 360 because iphone could not connect and used the watch only for time .(bluetooth worked fine remember this). Anyway i decided to sell it and i had all my apps and accounts in there so i thought the fastest way was to factory reset it and make it fresh so i can sell it (rom was not stock at the moment, i have no ideea what rom it was). I sold it to a friend that told me he wanted to pair something with it thru bluetooth and bluetooth didnt work...i sayd that it wasnt possible because all i did was a factory reset and that couldn't damage anything. Things got worse as the phone was charging very very slow and if it got over 90% baterry would not respond to anything (red led at 90% and got to green when full but still no response from phone) and the only thing to do is to remove battery. Then i took the phone back, got it a new battery but that didn't changed anything, took it to some repairs shops that didn't ever hear about this problem, i had it chance the software but that didn't do anything. The problem i suspect it is and i saw a few other posts online was the bluetooth module would stop working for some reason and do this to the phone. Currently i don't know what to do with it and i don't want to sell it just for part for 50 euros or so. Also i read that the bluetooth module can't really be changed as a spare part because it's part of the motherboard and that means almost all the phone. Phone is in mint condition, i didn't damage it before the sell , the buyer didn't damage it or messed with the rom...Another thing i noticed is that in settings under bluetooth address says unavailable. Can someone please help me ? I can provide more information about serials and stuff if needed. Also wi-fi doesn't work now.
Mine also show unavailable under Bluetooth address, but it works.
Are you currently on the stock rom?
Yes is stock. Android version 5.0.1 I9505XXUHOJ2. If i toggle bluetooth on says starting bluetooth then after 5 seconds it disables. I guess the problem is from hardware not software. So fast battery drain is not normal something is using a lot of energy.
As far as I know, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules are in the same physical chip, therefore something might be physically broken. Here's a clip I came across while trying to fix my phone's Wi-Fi and I think it's exactly what might fix yours. (Should be very cheap to do too.) I think basically what he's doing is putting some flux on the board then reflowing it with the hot air gun.
Before taking that step, be sure to exhaust the possible software fixes. I'm not sure, but updating the bootloader and modem MIGHT fix it.
My wi-fi started working again it just took a while but the bluetooth does exactly the same as in the clip so maybe that's the problem. I don't understand why does so glue over it make it work...also for me it's hard to turn the phone off because the screen goes black but the blue led still stays on and the only way to turn it off completly is to take out battery. Maybe this will solve the battery problem aswell ?

trouble with GPS

Anyone having trouble with their GPS? I can't get mine to find any satellites. GPS Status and Toolbox is not helping. I have the US996 version. Any fixes?
Thanks.
I'm not having that issue. Are you running stock?
Yes, stock

The Gps reciver working perfectly....if you cant find satellites then your devive need service or replace...you dont need 3d party apps...Im using Igo and sygic and both ran excellent...
Mine is acting weird as well. Mine is tmobile version. I found that toggling location off and back on helped but we shouldn't have to do that. I'm probably going to have mine replaced if it persists.
I thought that maybe I was having an issue but now I think it has something to do with the pipes and towers, and blast resistant buildings where i work. Wasn't an issue with the Notes i had. but outside driving its fine.
I guess I will try a factor reset and if that doesnt help, I guess its time to figure out how to get a replacement.
I was having issues where it keeps thinking I'm home when I'm not
I'm still having frustration with gps. I have an Alcatel idol 3 that gets much better gps signal than the v20 running "gps test" from app store. I still get "searching for GPS" message in google maps from time to time in locations my other phones have performed flawlessly. I had a similar issue on the g5 and had to trade it for refurb which fixed the issue. I really dont want to do that with the v20.
The antenna is in the plastic trim at top which you can remove with 4 screws. It could be ours have a weak connection there or it could be a lousy solder joint on the underside of bga (ball grid array) chip.
Major problems with a two month old V20.
LG says they will not honor warranty because phone was sold as an "unlocked" ATT.
Also say that they show IMEI as activated two years ago!
This was brand new from newegg.com. How could it be activated two years ago?
Tremendously frustrating.
The top plastic cap in the H918 contains multiple antennas. Other models of the V20 which work on other frequency bands often have different antennas in this endcap, so when you replace it you need to select one for your particular model. Unfortunately the ebay sellers don't seem to know what cap to supply so often list the wrong models for the caps they are selling. The end cap connects to the phone's sprung metal contacts with either metal or conductive plastic pads, six in total for the H918. When I replaced my endcap GPS stopped working completely and picked up no satellites, on examining the replacement cap two contacts were missing which must be for the GPS - everything else seems fine (or I haven't noticed if some of the frequency bands are missing). I have attached a photo of the contacts in my phone and the replacement cap so you can see the problem.
I am now having difficulty finding a seller of the endcaps who can supply the correct part - I will keep on trying.
Been a loooong time since I've visited XDA....ah the memories, anywho, I have ATT LGV20 (keep it for removable battery and 2nd screen), The oreo update totally borked my GPS, it it always turning off and on, on its own and I get annoying location accuracy pop up which I have to agree or disagree to a lot.
It could just be big brother spying on me too I guess...
Any thoughts without doing a factory reset? I do NOT have root, though I wish I did. It is a refurb that was working fine before Oreo. Maybe an app that will monitor what is turning it on without root?
Thanks guys, happy holidays.

Review smartwatch intex irist: intex sloppy brand

Official website for this model: http://www.intex.in/smartwearables/smartwatch/i-rist/
Buy smartwatch intex irist black in mediamarkt.
I had to change it several times. Firstly because it is impossible to navigate in Google Maps or any other, secondly because two of the clocks were already badly manufactured: one with the tactile screwed and another that did not light.
When he was resigned to not being able to use the point-to-point navigation, it turns out that the camera is damaged. Forced shutdown with any photo testing app.
Here comes the odyssey with the SAT, which by the way is in Spain.
I send the clock and they tell me that they proceed to the repair, that they have to wait for them to send a piece to them. After almost two months and give them a notice they send me back the clock. Surprise! It turns out it's not mine, has a gmail account of another person and a huge rayon.
I can be picked up about two weeks later, after three times, so that one day the collection will be made and no one will be presented that day.
Without prior notice they deliver a package. I think my watch is finally repaired ... Surprise again! It is a new one but orange.
After days to email basis and two calls tell me to send me a black this time, but there is no stock of that color and have no idea how long it will take.
Of my old watch and its repair not a word, so I assume that they have lost it.
In short 3 months without a clock what I have left. Luckily the SAT is in Spain.
After using three watches of this model I can say as pros and cons:
CONS:
- Bugs or failures recognized by the technical service itself:
*. Unable to disable automatic screen rotation
*. Spontaneous ignition of the screen: according to the SAT is a bug that occurs when you lose coverage, and the solution they give is that you only use the 2g when you pass. Take it now!
*- The battery percentage indicator is often not updated. It can mark you an i says when it really is much lower. The problem is that when you think that you have more than half the battery, it starts to fall as fast as it sometimes does not give you time to turn it off before it stays at 0. Derived from this is the problem That many times the battery is completely discharged, making it after a while lose much durability. SAT solution: send another charger, which is useless.
- Very low volume: it is possible that in a noisy street you have to stick the loudspeaker to the ear to hear a call.
- The price: expensive for what it offers and compared with others who give the same for 100-125 euros.
- GPS and Navigation: Tested on three watches of this model. As I said impossible to navigate point to point. As soon as you turn or change direction you will be "looking for a signal". The GPS signal as soon as you put it on the wrist low. It is spectacular to see how low the satellite reception (using the Gps test app looks), and see how it comes back up as soon as you take it off:
http://youtu.be/IFKA-eWrLtY
- In summer with these silicone straps and what the watch warms up, when you are using it for a while, it can be very uncomfortable to use it.
- Framing with the camera is very difficult task and more if we consider that the screen rotates and you can not remove the rotation
- Support: null. They just got an update.
- Software included: painful. It is best to take away almost all the apps you carry and replace them with others.
- Flimsy buttons: they give the impression that they will not last more than a year.
PROS:
- Accurate touch.
- The screen looks great, the resolution is more than enough for such a device.
- The use of apps has no problems: you can install and work well Whatsapp, gmail, youtube, etc. Only some have problems because they do not fit the small size of the screen.
- The screen is true that it withstands scratches and blows.
- The possibility of putting a 32GB card, makes me have almost all my discography in the wrist.
Conclusion: I do not recommend it at all. It is much more expensive than other equal options. The only advantage was the guarantee of being able to buy it in a physical store and have a technical service in Spain. Once the warranty of the store is finished, you are sold.
It is significant that in Mediamarkt once they disposed of the stock did not replace units again. In the end I confessed to a salesman who had been returned a lot for a lot of bugs.
I have no experience with other Intex products, nor do I want to have it. A brand that draws such a great deal of product from me does not offer me any security. And I say that it is a mi ** da because you can not get a device with recognized faults, then not fix them with updates, and also know that a high percentage of devices are already going out with factory defects. In short, my opinion of intex is that it is a brand that can be attributed the qualification of Chinese, "in the worst sense of the term, in the sense that it seems that they do not have minimum standards of quality.
