MLB.TV 60 fps? - Nexus Player Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Will the mlb.tv app currently on the nexus player be updated to accommodate the new 60 fps update for the 2016 season? So far I only see Shield TV listed as a supported android device along with Sony tv's.

New updated app out today. v2.0

Does it work for you? I'm on the latest MLB at bat 5.1.1 and it force closes when I try to watch a game. I've had to resort to casting from my desktop. The app worked fine last season on my Nexus player

I'm actually using Kodi with the mlb.tv add-on. It works great and is 60 fps, unless mlb screws up with their feeds which can happen from time to time.
Here is a link to the add-on, you have to use your mlb.tv login info. Not sure if you've used kodi on a nexus player or not, if you need or want any help installing this add-on let me know. Kodi should be on your nexus player or you can d/l from the play store. http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=262745
The native mlb.tv app that came on the nexus player was only giving 30 fps that is why I went the kodi way, maybe they will eventually have 60.

That's brilliant! thanks!

I spent some of the $25 google gave me on some play store stuff including, plex, bubbleUpnp, and already had imediashare. For rendering i've got n7, galaxy nexus and an un55d7050 tv. Media players include vlc, mx player, and weeded out a couple that I didn't have much luck with.
What works best for me, the easiest, and least amount of dicking around is a combination of MX Player and BubbleUpnp. I'm streaming from an NAS on my home lan and everythig else is visible on the lan.
To make this work you'll have to screw around with handbreak (or at least I had to) to figure out what codec works best depending on what your streaming and to which renderer.
Good Luck!
Edit/ Twonky Media Server works really good as well, installed to my NAS......Yup, everything these days is pretty much dlna capable.

Are you rooted? Rooting breaks Google Movies AFAIK.
You can either stream it or download it to your device (for offline viewing).

Not here. Unlocked/rooted from day one of purchase and Google Movies working fine. I've streamed the free Transformer movie several times.

Not anymore... Use it all the time on my Rooted Nexus 7.
I streamed the Transformer movie, didn't download it. Having it running right now just to make sure nothing has changed... works great.

Buy the episodes on DVD or blu-ray and transfer them to your n7

Streaming sports and movies

Do you stream sports or movies on your Nexus 7. If you do how? I've tried streaming through Firefox with flash player but get too much ads, the video stops playing and can't set flash to full screen. Any alternatives like sites or apps you guys use to stream?
The site I use is firstrow.

You need to update from JRW66N to the JSS15J or JSS15Q.

Thanks for helping me
but this is the first time i used android
Can you teach me how to do that?
I don't believe this has anything to do with the version of 4.3 you are using. I haven't gotten the update yet and MX Player works fine on my N7. You haven't really given much information to work with. Maybe try reinstalling.

I was having problems installing MX player pro while the normal free version worked fine with same built version. Then I uninstalled free version and installed MX player pro and it installed. I have installed mx player pro and free version simultaneously on my other devices.
I suggest install Vplayer as its more stable than MX player.Wait a bit and see how MX player is updated.
Also go into Settings then apps and the select MX player n then clear cache n data.
I personally love MX player but there are innumerous video players. Find them in apps and themes etc

MX Player from Play is not compatible with 4.3. Wait for an update or go to developer's page and download a Beta for 4.3 (before installing an app read first all about it on play).

The one on Play is working fine for me now (it wasn't when the new Nexus first came out, but a week or so later a working version appeared).

On Play there is still the message :
"
What's New
THIS VERSION IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PRE-RELEASE ANDROID 4.3. PLEASE VISIT HOME PAGE FOR COMPATIBLE VERSION
"
For me it installed but was crashing with most videos I tried to play. The beta one from the web was more stabile. I tried this 2 days ago, not sure what is today's status.
I wonder what they mean by pre-release there? I see farther down in the list of fixes in current version are specific mentions of fixes for 4.3. Definitely a confusing page .

Been using the one off the play store since he updated it like mentioned about 1 week after release. Sporting version 1.7.18.
As a good alternative VLC player does a good job as well.

Yes, and the "4.3 version has the same number as the "release" one, to make it even more confusing.:
https://sites.google.com/site/mxvpen/download
For me it made a difference (but did not use it a lot), a video clip which is crashing the play version after 30 seconds of play, did not have problems with the "4.3" version.
BS player (another good player) does not have sound now, as they removed all Dolby codecs (license dispute).Older versions have sound but do not use HW acceleration on 4.3 (the latest one does, but no sound for any Dolby audio which is a lot including camera recorded clips).

I tried the free version from Play on my full stock tablet and it crashed when trying to open.
make sure u use the correct codecs for mx player pro, and i use SW encoding, its much better then HW encode
a good video to test this out is fraunhofer nexus 7 sound test

BS Player doesn't have the DTS codec though. VLC is a better choice if MX doesn't work IMO.
