Why do people insist on stealing content? Ads are there to pay for the costs of delivering the content to you and for the development/creation of said content. Blocking ads is stealing content. Period.

Make sure your are using the correct version of xposed(for MM is SDK 23, x86)
I'm not sure that YouTube AdAway xposed module is compatible with the leanback YouTube .apk

Yeah take a hike.

Ads are blocked here on Nexus Player CM 12.1 witrhout any issues in Youtube. @hotrodwinston, you can watch the Ads, i would just skip them if possible and if not not use the spammed content. Never watching any ads, this is just another type of indoctrination and manipulation.
ps.
(use google for a translation)
This can happen it you not block ads

I skip ads that are skippable - the provider/creator still gets paid for the ad view. But outright blocking of ads is theft of content plain and simple. The reason there are so many ads and that they are so invasive is due to trying to make up for lost revenue due to ad block. Eventually more websites will put up a Paywall due to dwindling ad revenue.

I can accept your opinion, but this funny companies also not just showing ads, they try to track you where they can, put mess on your computer where possible and ignore privacy (what is here a fundamental right), so i just block and good. We shouldn't go too much offtopic.

Can you explain what you installed to block ads or is the CM 12.1 comes with adblocking in the rom?

Is there an adblocking app that does actually work good?

Tried AdBlock Plus a couple of times but it just doesn't block that many ads, if any at all.
Can someone recommend one that does block ads and is easy to set up?
Thanks!

Ad Block

Any way I can add an Ad block to the phone or do I have to wait for root and custom roms?
Google AdGuard. I heard it has some functionality w/o root.

A lot of people in the other S7 threads are suggesting an app called Block This! Might be worth checking it out. I haven't tried it yet, just seen others mentioning it in the threads.

This App seems suspicious, the version on App store apparently is outdated and asks us to download the newer version from their website. The newer one wants to setup a VPN, not really sure if it's legit !

Its not suspicious at all. Its just been removed from PlayStore doesn't mean violating Google rule. I've been using it Since v2.0 as Developer seems to legit and whatever he describes you can cross check on Google+ Or Facebook.
Lastly, AdGuard does it job well, but ideal battery drain would be a huge issue for some. Whereas this one doesn't have battery drain issue, yet blocks the ads quicker. Check for requirements on PlayStore or while installing, I'm sure, you'll change your opinion.
Also there's one more AdBlocker with ROOT! named AdClear, search on XDA.

Found this on dev's website, I think I'll wait for root access.
"The only problem with this approach is, that for Android there are strict rules about who and how DNS can be changed. Normally changing the DNS directly needs ROOT access (i.e. your android device to be rooted). In order to work around this issue, "Block This" for Android creates, what we call a local VPN (Virtual Private Network) and all of your apps/browser traffic is routed through this VPN. This VPN is carefully configured to only modify the DNS settings of your network, while preserving your internet speed and not sending out any traffic to external VPN servers. "
I use AdGuard and it works great. You have to purchase it but I have been using it for awhile now and it's worth it.
Yeah adguard works well no root just purchase it to get ads blocked through out

It's the way most/all ad blockers work if you don't have root. VPN let you change the way the network works in ways you can't without it.
Not saying I like it, I use a VPN for security when on untrusted WiFi, and for watching Netflix while abroad.

Using " Block This. Adguard is subscription based, I still have a few months left.
I don't know if Block This will stay free forever though. Both work fine.
I do notice a reduction in wifi throughput on internet speed tests with Adguard. We have a 10Gbps link here that's limited to around 5-600Mbps on wifi. On my Note 5 with Adguard on I typically see 200Mbps max. With it off it will hit 500+.
Block This does not have this effect as far as I can see.
Aside from that (which most people probably won't see LOL) they are pretty much the same.
My biggest gripe is you cannot get rid of that stupid key icon. But that is an Android thing not a fault of either app.
Got an email today regarding Adguard. They are/will be supporting https. This means youtube ads in app will now be blocked! That's great news indeed!
I'm using the Samsung browser with ad block plus for Samsung browser. If I want a faster browser and save data I use opera with data savings.

I use adguard since note 4
Adguard. Been using it since the Note 4. Have a lifetime license. They have sales every now and then where it costs about 2 years' annual fees (or less). Totally worth it. App is constantly updated and safe to use.
I use the DNS66 route. You get stuck with a permanent notification, but worth it IMHO.
I use Blokada. It works, it doesn't add any noticable battery drain, and it is easy to use.

Does these apps block in-game ads too?
I use netguard and uploaded moab host file to it. Works perfect for me and I can prevent apps from going out to the internet.

Most apps, including YouTube, have built in ad serving code. You will have to be rooted or use a VPN to usually block those type of ads. However, you can block YouTube ads if you view YouTube through your browser and not through the YouTube app.

Disconnect pro.. im getting no youtube ads

I have discomnect which i got it when it was free. I got my note 9 yesterday and installed it since it blocks all ads on apps/games and browser. In browser i dont even use adremove extension since DP takes care of it. Is not a vpn solution since it works with knox just like adhell.
Something that i notice. I get no videoads in my youtube app. Even when the video is 1 hour long and u can see the yellow lines when the ads will pop up. It doesnt. I do get advertisement banner in the aps itself but no video ads whatsoever. Anyone can confirm this?
When i turn it off i start getting video ads again.

The free version is only a samsung browser extention ad blocker. The full version is an app itself to block all ads in apps/games.
Not sure about the bad review but i have had just great experience with it. Used it on my 8+, note8, gs9 + and note 9. Block everything, i have tried adhell, blockada, adguard, nds66, block this and a few other this has been the best for me love the UI.
This is just personal opinion and dont reommend anyone to pay more than $5 for it since theres other similiar options for free.

No is not using vpn, ur speed will be the same with or without it, unlike other option like blokada, adguard, nds666 etc. Only uses samsung built in knox security to block ads.
I know adhell 3 works great is another option but a little more complicated since u need a key from samsung.

Hey mate, can you tell me how you add those to adhell please?
I've tried saving both to a text file and pointing adshell to them in the format it shows, so
file:///mmt/sdcard/Dowmload/Adshell/YouTube Ad Block 1
Yet when I toggle domain rules it just removes them.

Just add a provider (see screenshot), put the https URL in, check it, do it for both URLs, and then disable/enable domains rules to add the new hosts.

Any tutorial like this one will do: https://www.androidsage.com/2018/07/28/how-to-install-latest-adhell-3-1-1-with-new-standard-knox-license-key-adblock-samsung/
If you don't want to bother with compiling (like me) you can install a prebuilt version here (you'll have to trust the guy who did this though): https://www.mediafire.com/folder/sb37c6gmhqgbn/AdHell_3
And the fix for Chrome: you need to add a firewall rule under Domains/Blacklist/Add firewall rule and put "com.android.chrome|*|53"
then reactivate domain rules and firewall rules on the adhell3 home menu.
Haha I added hosts from AdAway too... I'm at 73050 unique hosts now XD I guess that's enough now I hope it'll not eat too much CPU/battery though, or I'll disable some of them.

Netflix HD with Rooted T510?

Has anybody gotten Netflix to play in HD with a rooted T510?
So far I've tried:
1) Hiding Magisk from Netflix
2) Running the liboemcrypto disabler module on Magisk (This got Netflix to work but no HD)
3) Running the Netflix Enabler module
Nothing seems to allow me to watch videos in HD.
Any ideas?

With all of the "stay at home" orders, we have more an more people depending on streaming for entertainment. About the only thing to do. This is causing major bandwidth problems for the entire internet. Europe has gone so far as to ban 4k streaming from providers such as Netflix. Why in the name of all that's holy, are people WASTING bandwidth in order to use something that makes so little difference!!!!!!!!!:crying:
