The google play store version or Gameloft website? The Apk just installs on it's own from the play store unless there's a place where it gets stored in memory that I'm missing
The Play Store won't let you download NOVA 2 directly to your Nexus 7 since it says the game is not compatible. Either get the apk off your phone or from other sources and transfer it to your Nexus 7.
The legalish way would be to buy the game using a TEGRA 2 device and then transfer it over. There won't be any Tegra 3 compatible version. But... Tegra 2 apps usually work with Tegra 3.

Well I got the 2.2mb apk file off apk Mania and I transferred my the 1gb of SD card game files for Asphalt 6 HD. I Opened the apk and then it said checking files..your device isn't compatible with this game please request a refund. Its so annoying because this game placed perfect on my tf300 same processor. I don't understand Gamelofts thinking.

I paid for the Asphalt 6 on the play store so I was hoping it would recognize it its like it has a built in system of devices they hate and don't want a certain game on it for whatever reason. It makes no sense to me.

Kk just making sure. why asphalt 6? 7 is already available and works fine on the N7? Otherwise find a phone that it will work with. Let it download the extra files and pull them from the phone and put it on the N7 in the same directory.

This is the method that I used to get Asphalt 6 working. You'll need a separate, rooted Android device that is 100% compatible with Asphalt 6 (I used a Galaxy S 4G, but any compatible device should work). Download the game from the Play Store to this device, open it and let it download all it's extra data. Once you can verify that the game is completely installed and working, first copy your gameloft folder from the device to the Nexus 7, and then use Titanium Backup to backup the APK and it's data and restore it on the Nexus 7.
Asphalt 6 should work perfectly (although it does have a few minor graphical glitches, in my case). I find Asphalt 6 to be much more fun than Asphalt 7, simply because the framerate is a LOT higher and the tilt controls aren't as wonky. Just make sure that you don't clear your app data or mess with any of the files in your gameloft folder, otherwise the game will refuse to download new files again due to the Nexus 7 being unsupported.
I also tried this method on N.O.V.A. 2, and the results aren't as good. The main menu has some pretty terrible graphical glitches, and once you're in game I noticed that the on-screen "analog pad" sticks, so you're constantly moving in one direction (making the game very hard to play). Other unsupported Gameloft games I tried (BackStab, GT Free, Asphalt 5) wouldn't work at all.

Awesome thanks I will try this method!
Thanks so much it worked! Asphalt 6 runs so much smoother and is more fun because of it Did you try Gangstar Rio with this method? I know it worked on my tf300 with tegra3 so I'm going to try it. Thanks again!
With my soon to be owned Nexus 7, will I be able to download games from Steam and be able to play them?
Steam on Android? You want play windows games on Android?
Short answer: no.
Long answer: Steam for android is just the steam client. It only allows you to chat/browse the store. Games on stream are not for android.

Best alternative for best quality games is the Android Humble Bundle. Great games for a good cause.
ive seen many vids playing games on nexus 7 with ps3 or 360 controller...
but when i tried to play with a normal gamepad(non branded controller) only navigation was possible for me..
why??
should i use any app??
or is it possible only with those 2 controllers!!!
rooted and im on cm10.1...
Hi,
I have a nexus 4 with a cracked screen which i want to convert to a nexus player. Does anyone know if that will be possible?
Not at all. The Nexus Player does use open source software called "Android TV", However due to hardware constraints, it will be nearly impossible to port it with successful play back. Sorry.
I bought my Nexus Player primarily as an inexpensive game console for me and my 5 year old. I wish more Android games were compatible with Android TV, but my biggest issue is the lack games we can play together. I bought two controllers so we can play together, but except for Beach Buggy Racing, multi player seems to mean online only.
Can anyone recommend relatively simple games that work for multiple players, either split screen or "Sonic and Tails" type games?
Tennis motion cast, tricky titans
And angry birds family are the only ones i know. They are for using screen mirroing or conecting to chromecast. They dont have great graphics but they are multi player

How about one of the emulators out there (N64/Dreamcast), some of those games must be multi-player.

I've found most of the emulators don't support two controllers properly, which is annoying. There are two games that I play with my wife - Sky Force Anniversary (two players on screen at same time), and Beach Buggy Racing.
Another game (single player) I recommend whilst it's on sale is Castle of Illusion. It's a really nice simple platform game, but looks really good.

Mario Kart!
Bombsquad is my kids' favorite. Up to 8 player multiplayer.
Neon Shadow has split screen multiplayer. The OUYA version is oriented properly but doesn't work right on the Nexus Player ($#@$(@!!!), maybe you can figure it out.
Sideloaded games that they also love:
Farrah Rogue: Zero Hour (up to 4 player splitscreen)
Duck Game (up to 4 players)
Meltdown is another.
The OUYA was a failed Android console for gaming, and all games ported to it were intended for multiplayer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=br.com.leeo.ouya&hl=en
Download this app from Google Play. You can get Farrah Rogue from it, as well as Neon Shadow (if you can get it working right -- it's a FPS) as well as Duck Game. Heroes of Loot, Killing Floor Calamity, Retro Racing, You Don't Know Jack, Ice Rage, Stalagflight, Hidden in Plain Sight... lots of others.
I'm not sure about many of them working for Nexus Player, but I do know some of them are available in Google Play.
Is lego Batman working with 2 gamepads?
