First off this is in no way trolling or bashing; but I have installed Windows 8 on both on one of my laptops and PC but I just noticed that I really don't use them that much. It seems that it just doesn't catch my attention and is too much of a bother to try to use the mouse and keyboard to navigate in between the Metro UI and desktop. Now I'm perrty sure that it is awesome on a touch device but I have not tried it yet.
How many people on here actually use Windows 8 on a non touch device on a daily basis? With out getting bored with it?
I am using Windows8 as my second system for daily use. I have installed it on a small partition, so I have Windows 7 and 8 in my pc.
I do not find it to be boring or difficult to use. It is true the first times you are a bit messed, but once you get used to Metro gestures it is easy and really quick to use Windows.
I am not sure how you are trying to navigate between Metro and Desktop or how are you using Windows. But you do not need to access Desktop to open programs. Once you install any program it appears in Metro, just click in the tile and you go directly to Desktop with the program launched. It is that easy.

i've also been using win 8 on my notebook and my desktop since the first preview. haven't had any issues navigating. of course its a little confusing using it for the first time, but after about a day its simple.
Haven't gotten bored of it either. for being previews, they run pretty darn smooth.
i tried using it on my laptop but i got rid of it in favor of ubuntu 11.10
it felt like trying to use android on my laptop(just overly confusing and a pain to use the GUI)
i do however believe windows 8 will kill off the laptop/netbook and all other tablets successfully, just take a x64 based tablet like the acer w500 or an arm based tablet like the transformer prime and put windows 8 on them, you will get a tablet when you are playing, and laptop when you're working
I use (and have used) Windows 8 on my non touch NetBook since Developers preview and love it it's also my primary operating system.

I've actually been using it for a while and really find it akward to use on a regular desktop. I am waiting to try and possibly buy it on tablet. I have however tried the Transformer Prime running android and I have to say I was impressed by it; hope Windows 8 is as good on a tablet because I am not an andorid or ipad person.

You should buy any windows 7 tab and put windows 8 on it, my plan was to get the Acer w500 tablet and install windows 8 on it. I actually got rid of my android tablet so I can use windows 8, don't get me wrong android is nice on my phone but on a tablet its kind of useless.
There won't be Windows 8 for ARM at stores for buying, it will be installed in tablets only. Keep this in minde
Well, there is a good reason that you aren't using the Metro UI. It was designed specifically for tablets and it adds absolutely nothing to a regular PC. There are not too hard to see that anything except the most basic tasks requires more actions to complete compared to the regular desktop.
Microsoft needs to wake up and realize that they can't have the same UI for touch and mouse.

Ditto here. I have been using it as my daily OS since the consumer preview to give it a good test and have updated to the release preview. Once you get used to it it just comes naturally. I also have a Samsung Slate 7 I bought to try it on and am using it daily so I have been using both the touch and nontouch enabled. The skydrive integration and the synching of favorites etc is working fantastic.
I've been playing around with Win8 on my own desktop for a while. It's not too hard to get used to, but I've always had a question - what's the point?

Wrong, it brings realtime notifications to the start menu AND the desktop experience as well as reducing the time it takes to find applications in existing start menu program groups. But you strike me as one of those people who took a look at it and said "It's for tablets, will not use" and then never learned how to use it.
Not only that, but you need to wake up and realize that they are the developers, They CAN have the same UI for both mouse and touch and the current implementation as seen in Release Preview works very well for that purpose.

I'm using it on my primary PC (dual screen, quad core, 4GB RAM, Geforce GTX460) on a daily basis. I use it with Photoshop/Illustrator/Chrome/Word/Wordpress, as well as various news readers.
It took a few hours to get through the learning curve (back during the Consumer Preview, not since Release Preview--that was easy to adapt to) but I'm confident that I'm actually MORE productive now, and am able to stay on top of things better thanks to deeply integrated features like the People Hub and so on.
Obviously, there's still some ground to cover--the OS is still essentially beta, after all--but all in all I believe it's the most impressive consumer OS I've ever used.
On the other side of things, I'm also beta testing the server in a simple file server role with a dozen users. Nobody's using it as a primary storage device yet, but I have a handful of titles setup to monitor services, alerts, etc, and I really like it. This is likely to make for a GREAT server OS once the major vendors apply themselves to creating Live Tiles that present pertinent information to an administrator upon login .
Microsoft is in a distant lead when it comes to advanced OS design compared to, for example, Apple

The more I use it the more I can foresee MS sales decline. Yes I have gotten use to some features and so on but I honestly don't see this in a corporate or business environment. But to be fair I haven't tested it on a touch device but non the less this has no business on a non-touch device at all. I don't get it; MS sees the reviews that people post on line and also see that the sales of Windows Phone are moving at a snail's pace and they force a touch screen OS to non touch devices
I've been using windows 8 for some time now, on desktop with no touch (only mouse and keyboard) and i can safely say that everyone who says metro is bad for mouse is smoking good grass and i would like some too...
the extra gestures are only required when you want to shut down your PC only. That's it. the only instance in which you have to do more actions than you would on a regular windows 7.
other than that, the advantages are so blatant it's a wonder nobody mentions them
this is the fastest, most efficient operating system i have ever seen. Does windows 7 load for you in 4 seconds? because that's how long it takes for windows 8 to load on my desktop: 4 seconds. and it is not a state of the ark i7 machine, but an old generation core 2 duo.
The resource management is also oustanding. tasks are launched and executed almost like in a real time system (i sometimes forget windows 8 is not a real time system).
And if you get used to using your keyboard, you will save many of the "unnecessary" mouse gestures.
yes, it takes a few moments to get used to it, but once you've configured everything properly, windows 8 is miles ahead of any other system.

I've had my Galaxy Note 2 now for about a month, and initially I was euphoric. The size didn't bother me at all, in fact I used to love my ipad and kind of wished that was a phone and that I didn't have to carry my blackberry too! The Note is small enough to be fine in pockets etc..., but big enough to read the newspaper in pubs! I think it's the perfect size. Although I realised it would take a while getting used to a new operating system, I was convinced this was the best phone in the world for the first week...and laughed in the face of iphone users - but things have started to change.
First of all, I come from a blackberry. Having experienced an ipad, I was sick of the lack of apps on blackberry - my phone was text, phone, email....I wanted a truly smart phone in the same vein, and sensed Apple and Android was the way to go. Sat nav, internet, everything...and a big big screen please! Perfect. Having had an ipad, I knew the typing would be difficult (I was light speed on a blackberry) but I wanted apps, so it was a toss up between Galaxy and Apple, both of which were touch screens. So I bit the bullet on losing the blackberry keyboard. Let me tell you, after a month with the galaxy, my typing on the touch screen has not got any more accurate or fast...it is a living hell. I have tried all sorts of keyboard apps to make it easier, but it is just rubbish. Which takes me on to email.....apart from typing being a nightmare, THERE IS NO SPELL CHECK. Excuse capitals, but the keyboard try's to predict what you're trying to type but if your're typing at speed without looking, you want to get the red line saying "are you sure you have spelt words right"....well it doesn't exist! The lack of a spell check is a major major flaw....do you want to send a work email out having spelt separate wrong? Or definitely? No! So let me tell you, typing on the touch screen is a nightmare....and the lack of spell check is unforgivable.... I have downloaded an app called Airdroid, that basically allow me to type and SMS on my laptop keyboard through my phone (which also spell checks on my laptop). This app is abit of a life saver - get it if you get this phone.
* Addition to above....the file tranfer doesn't work using Android file tranfer and Kies is rubbish(lots of forum complaints) ...Airdroid is also the only app that allows you to transfer files with your phone!
Which brings me onto another point, maybe bigger than the first. If you're used to touch screen typing coming from Apple, then everything above means nothing to you. But you will appreciate having a swapable external SD Card on the Galaxy. This phone has a internal 16GB storage and I've added 64GB external storage too. Wow! This was one of the main reasons for choosing Samsung over Apple....but guess what? You cant use itunes of course....so I uploaded all my music to Google Play, the online cloud music service from Google - naturally I thought the Google service would work perfectly with Android. So imagine my shock when I could only download a few GB of music to my phone (offline content - the whole thing will stream on wifi)?! Obviously the music was saving to the internal memory, not external....no problem I thought, it's just a setting away to save to the external card right?! NO!.....I need a breather paragraph...
So...I did a google search. It seems that Google music player doesn't have an option to save to an external card?! Basically this renders the reason to have a big external card (lots of music) pretty useless. Phones these days are a replacement ipod! I promise I'm not lying...also the threads on external forum boards go on for miles and miles (months!)...Google isn't doing anything about it! There is a fix, but you have to have a degree in computing - the fix involved "rooting" the phone (this is like a jailbreak for iphone users)...and mapping or binding drives to the external card!)...I've fixed it but it took my all day.
Don't Google employees have these phones with Google music player on them?! It makes no sense.
Now this reminds me of a story of my old Dell. I bought a cheaper higher spec computer than a Mac, thinking it was better value...but I literally had to have a degree in computing , it was always going wrong. When I bought my Mac Air...everything "just worked". And here I am, "rooting" a my Galaxy Note....and spending a day messing around with the phone in order to just save my music to an external SD Card?! Google is the new Microsoft...
Yes, the phone is big, beautiful, and the specs are great, its cheap and you can out a great big Sd card in it....but if you value your sanity, pay a little bit more and stick with the tried and tested iphone for a touch screen, or get a decent keyboard phone. If Apple brought out this phone, at this size ...(an iphone Max if you will), then I think it would be the perfect phone. This is the right size and the way to go in my opinion. Unfortunately the Android world reminds me of Microsoft of old...all good on the outside, but a trip here and a crash there...and really, its a complete pain...
Great idea, but the operating system lets it down badly. No spell check, no save music in google music player to external sd card, difficult typing = not good enough. Google maps is brilliant by the way, and use it to navigate in car instead of tom tom now...you dont get that on Apple...
If Google brought out an update for the music player (save to external) and a spell check, I would be alot happier - 4 stars, but the forums have been waiting years for these updates....best of luck! Nothing can be done about the keyboard, and this is one of the bigger ones! If i could go back I would get the iphone 5, stick with Blackberry, or get a "vertical" keyboard Android phone (motorola maybe)...this is from the man who initially loved this phone...
Wish I could write a better review for this phone, there are many good qualities, but if Google can get these big things wrong...what's round the corner?

Itunes Agent for syncing music to your phone (you might have to take the SD card out and put it in a reader before connecting it to your pc as I think iTunes Agent will only 'see' a mass storage device). Es File Explorer can transfer files via WiFi. There are other options out there.
However, I agree, it's an awful device, but as I'm such a decent guy, I'll buy it off you for £200 if you like
Why couldn't you use the File Transfer? I use Android File Transfer just fine. What about Bluetooth?
And if you don't like the keyboard not having spell check, well this is Android, you can just install a keyboard that has it.
Dude cmon.... If you hook your phone up to the computer you can copy files to the sd card. I copied my itunes folder and google play magically added all of my mp3s.
Try Swiftkey.
Try iSyncr.
Android= smart phone= smart users
IPhone= dumb phone= dumb people

You're not going to get alot of sympathy from people here about the spell checker. Almost everyone on this forum came from a previous android device so naturally everyone is all used to touchscreen. And they're all pretty much pro at typing and using an appropriate keyboard for it. The keyboard will autocorrect everything so spell checker isn't even an issue, but rather grammar checker would be more needed here. But in the end, you will have to get used to this. Nothing will ever be a proper substitute to a hardware keyboard. Your blackberry was made to be a super productivity workhorse.
Also, keep in mind, the way you are wanting to use Google Music isn't the way Google actually intends you to use it. Google Music is meant to hold all of your music in the cloud so you will primarily stream it. You pin your most played songs on your phone. Not every single song.
It seems you may have issues with MTP? You mentioned you have a Macbook Air? I can't really comment on this, but the user above seems to be able to use the android file transfer app for macos just fine.
You're not going to win anyone over with your opinions about the note 2 and iphone 5. Nobody here is going to switch over. For god sakes man, this is a developer forum you're in, not a general mobile device buyer's forum.

What an unnecessarily stupid long post. Don't like the keyboard? Download SwiftKey or another of the tens of dozens keyboards in the market.
The fact that you think the keyboard is Google's fault, when it's in fact a Samsung keyboard, is kinda hilarious. You don't even know what you're saying.
Plug your phone into your computer and drag and drop your stupid music to the sd card. Problem solved. No need to use if you don't like it Google music.
Please, go back to iphone. It was engineered specifically for idiotic people.

lets begin with typing : on android the spell check is performed by the keyboard and not the software (gmail, whatever..), so if you want a keyboard with spell check, get a keyboard you like that does it, there are a lot on the market, like some people have recommended, swiftkey is pretty good.
file transfer doesn't work? what? have you even tried connecting your phone to your computer? it just opens the root of your phone, add whatever the heck you want in there.
same goes for music, though i don't get why you would want to have all of your music both on your phone and on the cloud at the same time, just save it on your phone manually if you really feel like it, its very easy to do and you do not need any stinking software like itunes to tell you how to do it.
don't expect your phone to do everything for you, but also remember that this is an android phone, and if you don't like something, you can change it.
Go easy on him people. It's his first android experience.
But I really didn't understand why you upload all of your song to Google Music and then try to download it to your sd card instead of just copying all of them directly to your sd card in the first place. You just plug in your phone to your pc and copy them like you're copying to a flash drive. It can't be more simple. You don't need to install icrap and all. It's just like a flashdrive.
And there are dozens of keyboard on play store. If you google it for 5 second, you can find at least a dozen. Install one of them if you didn't like the samsung keyboard. That's why we're here. That's why we like Android. If you don't like it, you can change it and try different things.

No spellcheck? Are you serious? Or had technology really created dummies out of us? If I am writing a work email, I'd spellchecked it myself. I'd proofread it at least twice over to ensure it's prim and proper. What's the difficulty?
And if you cannot type properly, download SwiftKey, or swype, or some other keyboards. At least there's a CHOICE.

Still, with Android, there's rarely just one way to do something. There's gotta be a dozen wireless ways he could've got his music straight to the phone without this ridiculous method he was using.
This is a strange post. I have owned a tons of Android phones. This one has been the best. Not sure about the music issue my phone is playing my mp3s off my sd card....????

Hello everybody,
I purchased a Motorola 360 smartwatch in order to pair it with my iphone.
There are numerous threads and procedures available online, and I have tried a lot of them, but am stuck and need some help.
I posted in a general question sticky thread (as a reply), but nobody got back to me.
If this post is not to be in this section, please let me know where to post.
My situation I got up to so far is that
1. I got virtual box set up and android x86 set up inside it, with 4.3.
2. I even got the setup rooted.
(I don't have an android phone)
When I try to download aerlink android wear for ios app, it tells me that it cannot be installed because the "device isn't compatible"
From what I hear in forums and other website, it is because the android machine is not set up as a phone, and it can be done through market helper app and/or editing the build.prop file.
However, I have tried all of that, but was unsuccessful- I install the market helper app, and opened and modified the build.prop file, but it still gives me the error.
Can anybody help me in getting the virtual machine setup for this part of the procedure, or inform me of any other methods that will work in my case?
This part has been quite frustrating for me, and I can really use some help.

What iPhone do you have and on what iOS?
Personally i have a similar situation, i had a Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung Gear 2, recently with great Kudos and thanks to one of the most amazing devs i have seen so far in the scene named Biktor, i know have Android Wear running on my Gear 2, since i switched to iPhone 6 + Currently running iOS 8.4 JB the Gear 2 was more than useless considering i could not create any access to the Gear App store
So i found my self in a similar predicament and this is what worked for me thus far.
I am running Android x86 4.4 r2 on VMWare 11 on my PC and it worked with 2 cheap dongles i had laying around, the setup worked just as well on VMWare Fusion and the latest Parallels on Mac running the same Android Image.
on Android and Wear side you can use.
Aerlink (most recommended although WearAday is pretty much identical) Download Aerlink on your VM and it will get installed on your Moto 360
On your iPhone, Assuming you are running iOS 8.0 and up and you have at least an iPhone 5 you should have no problem downloading the app, that being said if you are sporting a iPhone 4s or lower you cant run the app since i has no BLE hardware
If that is not the issue then download it, run it on you Moto and flip on the service switch, open the app on the iPhone and have the BT on, once the service is up bring up the Aerlink card on the watchface and press Search, it will find your iPhone and ask to pair with a 6 number key and your good to go.
Same goes for WearAday , Download on PlayStore, open it on VM then on Moto 360, and finally on iPhone.
there is also wear for iOS but it is not as far ahead as the other two.

I joined this forum a couple days ago. As an intro, I’ve been building and maintaining desktop computers since 1997 for self and family, and my wife’s salon and spa business website with old Frontpage. My main computer is a water-cooled Intel 6600 (I think) go stepping cpu and GTX 8800 vid card, six bay case, 800 watt PSU, dual boot with two removable drive bays, one for main drive and one for game drive, upgraded in 2008 when I was heavy into gaming City of Heroes. Built it for fun. Overclocked and all that jazz. I have a laptop but haven’t gone into it yet.
I got my first smartphone a year ago, Samsung Galaxy Core Prime. With only 8gb of storage It’s useless for as app krazy as I need to be and they are just useful apps like banking, shopping ect, no gaming. I was luving it till I ran out of room even with a 64gb SD card! I found you can’t move very much to the card and I don’t do photos and video much at all so I was very disappointed to say the least. The Samsung rep at Best Buy where I got the phone told me that the local Verizon store should have never put me in the phone to begin with as it’s considered a prepaid. My luck! Some of the sales peeps at the Verizon store are a joke. The dood wanted to wipe my phone until I stopped him. Like that was going to solve something! I was pissed he didn’t know any more than that about the phones he was selling! I went home looking to root the dang thing, hehe. So that’s what brought me here to begin with. I managed to install SKD and did a backup of the phone via Titanium Backup’s site instructions. I bought the pro version but it’s almost useless unless the phone is rooted (sweet app though from what I’ve seen). I found a root for it on this forum but stopped messing with it when I decided to go with the S7. I’d have to have help with the instructions anyway. The posters talked in advanced terms that I didn’t understand so…..
I gave the phone to my wife with Hangouts installed. We moved our landline to Google Voice a year or more ago so with it she can dial using it with wifi. Pretty kewl. There’s lots of Time Warner and Verizon hotspots around so she could use it pretty well where we live. Now trying to wean her off the little flip-phone, hehe. Still have to root it down the road to be useful though.
I went to a Samsung noob class at Best Buy and found that they had the S7 for $100 bucks for a two year contract and thought the 32gb would be plenty with my SD card. Wrong! Even my new S7 has a third of the 32gb space taken up with bloat and what few apps I’ve installed about 4, and I haven’t even installed about 10 or more apps I want. I’ve had it since Apr 1 and I need to root it already, dang! I know, no root available yet. Besides, I want to use the phone for a little longer to make sure it works well while still under warranty.
Now for my noob questions….and I did my homework as best I could. I’ve read all three pages of the threads on this forum looking for answers and can’t find them (I learned lots of other stuff while reading them so thanks guys for that). I’ve looked all over Google search too and just can’t put my finger on the issue.
I want to install apps directly onto my SD card and am looking for a way to do it. I was following a video on YouTube to install apps directly to my SD card via SDB. The video is titled “How to install Android Apps onto SD Card By Default” but the command “adb shell pm set-install-location 2” resulted in a Java error: “java-lang SecurityException: Package Android does not belong to 2000”. (much cussing followed)
Is this really a good, workable method or should I look in another direction? How do you guyz handle this situation?
Off Topic: Anyone using the Ceton 6 channel cablecard and extender system? I’m looking at that to get rid of these two Time Warner DVRs and haven’t quite figured out how to get the signal to older CRT TVs with an Xbox 360 as extender.

Not to sound foolish, but just covering the bases....Are you aware you can move the apps the SD card from the system itself?
From your settings Select:
Applications > Application Aanager > select the app you downloaded. It'll show you the "Application info".
From there select "Storage", it'll show where it is stored (internal or SD card).
If it can me moved press "Change", then the pop-up comes up with "Change storage location" for "Internal" or "SD card", sounds like you'd want SD card.
It will show an "Export" screen, then you hit "Move" at the bottom.
The "Transfer" screen shows up, when it is done it'll show the the app page info page again listing "Storage" and show where you moved the app too.
That should help free up some space.
If that's not what you're looking for, then you could try the adoptable storage option, where it lets you use part/all of your sdcard for use as actual internal storage...but there's caveats to that...like you won't be able to use the card outside of the device....you really should read up on it before you attempt it for sure.. Though, I'd recommend trying the first suggestion to see if it suits your needs before moving on to this:

Some of those guys you can't understand what the heck they're saying, hehe. I'll have to try it again. I also used Debloater and didn't find even one app that I hadn't already disabled in Applications. There were 21 disabled before I did anything, probably by Verizon. Besides, there's not too much bloat on my Verizon. I had disabled nine apps myself so not too bad.
One problem I wish I could solve off topic is the Play Store apps I don't want keep showing up. One is Google Talkback. I can't find the app on my phone anyway and can't find anything on the net to get rid of it or hide it. Any suggestions on this issue? To this point almost half of my system storage is used. All my photos and documents have been sent to SD and then to Google Drive.

probably old news, but thought I'd follow up, just in case....
The Talk back app is there, you just have to toggle system apps, otherwise it won't show.
Check out the screenshots attached....you'll find talkback in "Applications Manager" > "More" (top right) > "Show system apps".
Scroll down and you'll see it. From there, you can press on it and enable/disable at will.
As a 15 year old; music, reading & learning, art/designing/detailing, photo editing, gaming, and YouTube passionate, which would be better for me: Lenovo Yoga Book's Android version or Windows 10 version? Also, will the Android version get Updates later? i.e., it's in Marshmallow, will it update it's version later? Thank you in advance for replying!
No security updates since October 2016. Still on version 6.0.1.
I see no longevity in this device. I feel like I've wasted $500 on a product that was a quick sell for lenovo and then it gets pushed back onto it's legacy line and we never hear from them again regarding updates. I'm hugely disappointed in my purchase and in Lenovo.
There are apps on the marketplace that require Android 7 and we're stuck on 6.0. What does that tell you? Not one developer has stepped forward to create ROMS or even a 100% legitimate unlock and root process. I wish I had kept my Pixel C and returned this.

unlike Skullpuck, I have Windows version and I am quite happy with the device. Now don't get me wrong, he/she makes some valid points; I agree with them and that is why I chose Windows version. Nowadays for android device is indeed necessary to have community around it, to support it because developer usually end its support after about 1 year. IMHO, this isn't really the case with Windows. You do not have to worry about root, unlocking, updates to OS, custom ROMS... etc. and none of these, and more, issues really applies to Windows.
I am definitely not praising Microsoft here, in my opinion they made Windows 10 a mess, but for this device, and what it is designed to be, the Windows version of Yoga might be better - IMHO of course.
If you are interested, here is my opinion on the device as an artist tool.
I've also got the Windows version and I really love it for drawing (mainly using Mischief) and pixel art (using Pyxel edit). After two obsoleted Android tablets I picked the Windows Yoga to avoid being stuck on an outdated OS version and to get access to more robust software. So far I don't regret the choice.
I did choose the Android version because it has better performance, batterylife last longer, apps like Netflix run smoother. the android version has more options to finetune the halo keyboard and realpen. plus you can take notes on paper with your device off and still your notes get digitized. drawing with Artrage and Artflow is amazing. Artrage is included, the full version. I don't mind the delay in a security patch. Windows is every single day less secure than Android even if you run those memory and processingtime eating security suits who are up-to-date. plus you can play some pretty amazing games with good framerates etc. on the Android Book. I play NFS titles and Pro Pinball Timeshock on the highest settings. I was in the position to test the both Yoga Book versions and for me Android was the winner. I completely agree. Tested both versions and android works better in my opinion. Running windows wiht some backgroud processes drained my battery life a lot. Waking up from standy not always worked for me, many times I had to force off the device with long pressing the power button. Some workarounds are available with the advice install some older drivers, disabling update xx and so on. I wanted a device running out of the box without waiting for lenovo shipping new updates (of course is the same thing with android updates but working better out of the box). Windows updates are out frequently and is quite right, but the problems are related most on buggy drivers. I experienced the same thing mentioned by @Martend and I follow his arguments.
While both version has the same hardware, we are going to talk about the OS load weight. Definitely Android is much more lighter than windows 10, you'll have smoother experience with it, load of app to choose especially games and entertainment app. The downside about Android is until now it has limited capability for multi-tasking compared to windows, also if you need to use it for light work using desktop PC application, there are limited choice for Android. Also in Android, the OS update will depend so much to the device manufacturer support, unless you are familiar and able to load a custom ROM, still it will depend to the community behind it. In my personal experience, lenovo developer support is so terrible at this factor. I've been using a number of lenovo device ranged from Smartphone, Tablet and Laptop, Lenovo always leave their software update support early, leaving the device obsolete or bugged only after a couple of year or less. While this also happen to windows version, but it will only affect to the driver update, while windows update still going to your device came from the microsoft.
So for me, Windows version is much more fit my need. I really hope the device has more usage years longer because it less depend to the lenovo support.
So which one to pick??
. I am planning to buy YB WIN. But
1. If both Android and win versions have same configuration, can't we format and switch Windows to Android??
2. Can windows version run Microsoft office tools at its best, like excel macros, mail merge etc easily
3. Do they both(win and android) have sim slot with 4g connectivity

1. Doing "format and switch" would not have any point in my opinion, but dual boot is theoretically possible (and therefore "format and switch" as well) and there are threads here that discuss this thou at this moment it has not been done.
2. Yes, thou creating presentations might stagger a bit (depending on the content) - I specifically use OpenOffice.
3. Yes, but there are also WiFi only variants so be sure to read product description before buying.

1. The hardware is identical, but boot config is so different. In windows ver, OS loaded via UEFI (BIOS is the former name) while Android depend on what it's called bootloader. This UEFI and Bootloader is cannot easily modified because its hardwrited on ROM.
2. my office suite works great. all function work normally. but don't expect like working on high performance laptop. it's actually like working with netbook
3. if you need one with LTE sim capability you should inquiry the YB1-X91L for windows version and YB1-X90L for android. While the wifi only version is ended with F, YB1-X91F and YB1-X90F
