Anyone else tried PSXDroid on their G2?
I tried playing marvel vs capcom, chrono cross, and x=men vs street fighter.
Im using PSX4DROID v 1.3
The sound is super laggy and glitched and games are not running at 100%. However, i have read many comments taht say v1.3 is just a horrible version of the emulator. Anyone else playing and having a good experience?
How does it work?

With sound on, everything is very laggy. but i just saw this video on youtube and his PSX4DROID emulator is running much faster, so i think its the version i have.

Well try the older version... because you know its NOT the phone. The G2 is the most powerful android phone out there, period. Let us know your results... I was thinking about getting it but heard its too buggy for use.
When I first got the G2 I tried out Chrono Cross on psx4droid. It ran very well, although I did have the sound off (not a fan of annoying sounds while playing games on my phone).
But after updating psx4droid from the market yesterday, the emulator runs very poorly. Hopefully the dev undoes whatever he changed so that it will start running well again.

Yeah, it might be the update. From past experience with many emulators, sound off always runs better. The problem is not that the g2 can't handle ps games but it has to emulate them in a player than runs inside android if that makes any sense. In other words native games like nova or heavy gunner which are graphic equivilant to ps games run better because they run pretty much natively. Where ps games are ran inside a emulator coded to run natively in android. I know that explanation is poor but you get the point. The ps emulator is relatively new too compared to the others. But ps games are pushing the limits... have you heard if any N64 emulators that run well or at all yet?
well, either find a better warez source to update to 1.5, or stop being cheap and buy the app from market; sound is crappy, but when it is off ff9 and chrono cross run very smooth

Newest ver on the market is 1.5 (you know that though since you purchased it )
Ran 1.5 today w/ ROMS on class(6) and it was about the same performance I believe: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=802147
Haven't tested with sound much, but on my G2 with psx4droid 1.1 I've been playing:
FFVII
FF Tactics
Megaman Legends
all with no problems, great playability
I purchased it (support your developers, anusholes), but it does seem laggy and sound is glitchy when I play parappa the rappa. Haven't tried any other games.
I have had extensive experience comparing the galaxy phones to the g2 performance in psx4droid. First of version 1.1 is the fastest. It is also the buggiest. On psx4droid 1.1 the g2 does very playable speeds on all games but really heavy polygonal games like fighters and whatnot. Zodttd released versions 1.3 and 1.4 that were much slower while trying to fix bugs. Now 1.5 is the best balance. Only slightly slower than 1.1 but slow
enough to make a lot of games unenjoyable on the g2 while the galaxy phones are able to keep up. Side by side they are like 30 percent faster than the g2 in psx4droid. Im hoping for root soon so we can overclock.

Thanks, this was very helpful
i'm currently running Tmobile G2 overclocked to 1.45 GHZ using a root module, and unfortunately psx4droid 1.61 is playing horridly aweful =(. This was an upgrade from 1.5, which played phenomenially better than 1.61. In 1.5 if the CPU could not process enough power (logically), the game would be a little slower, however 1.61 has sound that is TOO FAST for ALL games, with slow graphics (wtf)?. So in other words, My sound for the game is INCREDIBLY fast, while the in game graphics are sloooww to a crawl. Is there anyone that's willing to host the psx4droid 1.5 apk for me to obtain? I've bought this emulator expecting only improvement, not drawback =(
Does someone have N64oid or N64 Arcade on their O1... I can not find a working N64 emulator for this phone... I know it have a bit slow processor, but it won't install on my phone... If someone have it, can you send me a working .apk file on PM?
It doesn't work... I managed to install it as a system file...I open the application but when I try to load a rom it crashes... I didn't know what else to do...so I think that our phone is not supported
Mine doesn't work either.. D: I wanted to play Mario kart..
I wanted to play Super Maria 64... It's 3d... But I think this emulator requires armv7 and at least 1ghz cpu...
Love playing N64 games on my MightyChannels-powered Wii BTW N64 is a 64 bit system and I think that the processor should be an armv7 for using N64oid correctly.
Thanks Paulscode for bringing us the first android emulator to use the
Xperia Play touchpads!
This thread aims to keep track of what games work on Mupen64plus and to what extent. I'll try to keep it as up to date as possible. Please post if you have tried a game and the results, and also what rom / kernel you where running and if you had to do anything to get it to run full speed; i.e. overclock, chainfire ect.

Dukey Nukem 64 - D [stock2.3.3R800x](mostly depth issues)
Duke Nukem: Zero Hour - B [stock2.3.3R800x] (few audio jitters in menu; works well in game, almost wanted to call this one "A" )
Zelda: Ocarina of Time - B/D [StockUk-orange] (needs an overclock to play smoothly -but is playable without overclocking- and has some minor graphical glitches in rooms sometimes.)
Banjo-Kazooie - D [Cyan-1Ghz-R800i] (Runs well but some graphical issues at the puzzle-effect and sometimes speech is not displayed)
Banjo-tooie - B/F [StockUk-orange] (runs but had a tendancy to crash often, needs an overclock to play at a smooth framerate.)
Turok - D [Cyan-1Ghz-R800i] (Menu runs well. Video too. If you start the game you see only arms and weapon. The Background is black.)
Turok 2 - D [Cyan-1Ghz-R800i] (Menu runs well. Video too. If you start the game you see only arms and weapon. The Background is black.)
Gex 3 - D [Cyan-1Ghz-R800i] (The sound is fine but you see only black and blue screen)
Pokemon Stadium 2 D - [Cyan-1Ghz-R800i] (Not playable due to major graphical errors)

I'd suggest separating the graphics problems into their own category. Most audio glitches are related to emulation speed (you'll hear skipping before you are able to see the reduced emulation speed). Audio skipping can be fixed by overclocking, so it might make more sense to group this with category B, and create a new category for audio problems other than skipping (screeching, clicking, de-synchronization, no-sound, etc).
-EDIT- Nice, the new letter system makes sense

Haha, just changed it then saw yours. Like yours better, less complicated.
also, Thanks for the advice and if you or anyone else has an idea to make this thread cleaner let me know. This is my first time doing anything like this. Its short right now but there are a loooot of N64 titles, its bound to get long, and I'd like to keep it as accessible and as easy to understand as possible
Thanks for putting this together. This will also be very helpful during the beta testing phase (useful to have a comprehensive compatibility list on a single device, to compare with compatibilities on other devices for prioritizing bug-fixes)
Make a public google docs spreadsheet that anybody can contribute too. You can post the results back into this main thread here.

This is a cool idea, OP updated with link to edit!
Edit: also, feel free to mess with the format if anyone thinks we need or don't need different categories or something.
I post some games. Turok, Turok 2, Rayman 2. I will test more games.
Sorry for my english
UPDATE
Castlevenia, Gex 3, Banjo-Kazooie
UPDATE 2
Pokemon Stadium 2, Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong
WWF No Mercy seems to run perfect, a little graphic glitch at start up but after that it's practically perfect. I'd give it A.
Edit. Sorry, I was using stock 2.3.4 R800i.

Thanks for contributing! OP updated - make sure you post your model / current firmware / clock speed - when giving me testing as it could be important for recreating the results you got.
Paper Mario works, but it has severe graphical glitches that pretty much make the game unplayable. I'd give it a D. Also, I'm running it on an R800at with stock kernel and the Generic North America 4.0.2.A.0.42 firmware.
Hey guys,
I used to play ff vii on fpse and it was great, now I want to play ff ix but the screen goes black and nothing happens.
The reason i ask here is that I found a lot of old posts of ppl playing it on other phones but not on Atrix, also fpse was updated and many ppl reported games not working. I got confused .
Anyone playing Final Fantasy IX on Atrix?
I am on Aura rom (android 2.3.4).
Thanks =]
So i was wondering for hours what are the most common or better most preferred rom and kernel configuration and their settings for gaming(not benchmarks) most people using for smooth gameplay and for what games. So i decided to create a thread for everyone to post their personal config on gaming.
So i will start:
I use cleanrom 2.6 with latest elementalx with stock values and gboost enabled and deadline
i get some lags playing modern combat 4 and other heavy games.I could never achieve a steady framerate. Can you recommend something? Im also a little afraid of oc :silly:
So whats your benches on gaming on your roms or kernels?
P.S. Gameloft Sale!
Following games are 0.99 cents:
Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour
9mm
The Amazing Spiderman
Order and Chaos Online
The Adventures of Tintin
Gangstar Vegas
The Dark Knight Rises
sorry for oot, but try install 'heroes of order and chaos'. It's free and good game. Can you pls give feedback whether it runs smooth or laggy, because I want to buy nexus 7
I'm currently using stock ROM w/ ElementalX kernel 2.6. CPU @ 1.7Ghz, GPU @ 490Mhz.
I've yet to find any Android games that don't run smoothly and I also have no problems emulating PSP, DS, PSX or N64 (some 64 run a little slower but still playable at 20-30 FPS).
P.S. thanks for the heads up on GL sale items, looks like its time to jump into Order and Chaos.
