Battery life issue - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Last friday I tried to install the arter97 recovery, I get the green "pass" in odin but in fact it failed, I Still have the stock recovery.
I decided to give up and retry later.
But since i tried this, my Battery life is terrible, I'm at 20% with 10 hours on Battery and only 1h30 SOC, and the android system is at the first place with 20% but usually the screen is always in first place.
I don't know if it's linked with my attempt to install a recovery.
Do you have an idea ?
Thanks

Anyone ?
This is quit annoying :/

There is not failure I think. Uncheck the Auto-reboot option at odin, flash the recovery(pass then), unplug cable, hold the volume down and power button untill shuts down and quickly release all your fingers(right after turned off) then immediately hold the Volume up and Home and Power button till recovery. This will let you get into recovery. Btw be sure about you download the correct version to your device.

Apparently I forgot to add the line to put it back in, Wow D: Atleast theres clarification ,Thanks for that. Will add it
@tanmay, Dark grey? That means the phone isnt completely powered off, Theres still backlight, Has to be completely powered down, I do hope its done in download mode. Anything flash related is purely in download mode to assure 100% safeness
but it doest help(((.it seems it is turning on but no download mode image.is it normal?
we know that we have to put it back....but the screen lightens up to dark grey and no download mode.what to do?

Check and see if you can enter recovery mode or if its broken. Vol Up + Home , Then 1 sec gap, Hold power till it vibrates, Make sure theres no backlight or thats not completely shut down.
@rit, Well yeah :\ Cause you know, Phone without a battery and hoping it will turn on--Just no comment there rofl

yup..it was totally over...i earlier flashed into xxkb3..it was no problem then...dunno what happened now...SAD
plus i have my usb cable removed
Mines works perfectly o.o Flashed mine before making the guide. Hence the guide.
1. Take out the battery. 10 secs just to be safe. There should be no light. Or phones still alive.
2. Yes the 3 button combo is annoying, But its the only options android has given us. Recovery mode can break but it can be restored. Download mode is your highest prior. I dont know if your battery is low. If it is then use a direct power supply, phone will turn on without a battery. See how far it gets to turning on.
3. Replace the battery and retry the same, the pit file shouldnt harm the phone in any way.
4. See if you can enter Download mode.
Also i hope you flashed it when it was in download mode. The android digging picture should have been there when you flashed the pit or any other file. If you flashed it on a black screen *happens when adb server keeps the com port alive* it bricks the phone.
if there appeared pass on the odin, it means yes.yeah?

yes you can remove the usb............may i suggest taking off the battery for a while.........go for a walk , catch your breath and come back maybe it will work then!
Yeah, That means it worked. The pit file is just to prepare the phone.
See if this helps you in anyway

i flashed it in download mode only...but its now not entering the download mode...helpless!!
i removed the usb cabel. then tried to go in download mode.i am in download mode now,the image appeared and now connect ub again and continue the process?

My rooted sph-l720 will not boot!! Please help!!

I rooted with CF-auto method, phone worked fine. I downloaded CWM Rom Manager and downloaded CWM Recovery through the app. I decided to try and flash TRiforce 5.4 as my first ROM. Selected to back up everything and wipe clean with a full install. Towards the end There was a fatal error. It said it needed to be rebooted. I clicked reboot now. It said something about AROMA installer. Then rebooted. It showed the Galaxy s4 logo, then went black. I waited and waited and waited. And nothing happened. I tried pressing power and nothing would happen. I eventually pulled the battery out and reinserted. Upon pressing power, the same thing. It would show Galaxy s4 logo then go to black. I thought perhaps my battery died during install. Tried plugging in to A/C adapter and the battery logo pops up but the circle that usually continues to flow in a circle just freezes and does not flow. No light turns on to indicate charging. If I unplug the charger it is still frozen on the same charge screen. I popped my battery into a friends s4 and it charges fine, and is still at about 50% power. I've tried vol up+home+power, vol down+home+power and they both get the same results, just the galaxy s4 logo, then black screen. No booting whatsoever. Does this mean my phone is now bricked?:crying:
edit, vol down+ power has just gotten me into download mode! I guess I'll download a stock rom tomorrow and flash it via odin. Sucks because i don't have internet at my house. I'm at the library right now... 15 hours to dl stock rom lol...

Try going into recovery mode again by pressing get down the volume down and home button than finally the power button. The phone should vibrate and then as soon as the Samsung logo comes out let go of the buttons or else the phone will reboot again. Time it right so it goes into recovery

Have you fixed this issue, volume up +home+power is recovery mode, volume down+home+power is to download mode then u press up to complete
Rezzing old thread, I know. But I'm leaving this here in case anyone is poking around for clues to their s4 not powering on.
I have one that does not power on, as in bo combination of "press this and that..." is going to work (as if that isnt the first step in troubleshooting...I know not everyone does it right, but its really annoying when any post mentioning no power on/not responding to any key presses or charger plugin is full of "just try harder to boot it" posts..... Anyways...) The power pins register about half a volt, surging around from 100mV to ~3V . The battery does not charge and there us a constant slowly draining voltage on the power pins while unplugged and no battery.
The only clue Ive found so far us a youtube video of a no power on S4 having its power IC replaced which fixed it. Unfortunately I dont have the tools currently to try it, so at least mine, is still dead in the water.....

[Q] Bootloop, no recovery - how to shutdown the phone

Hello,
I'm on LG G2 Stock Rom on Kit Kat (4.4.2). The phone is rooted but no custom recovery as I just need "root" to run Titanium backup.
Yesterday, I attempted to update the 1 XML file to increase speaker volume. Upon restart the phone will stuck on LG logo and does nothing.
I can access download mode. So now, i'm downloading LG Flash Tool and KDZ file for my phone to flash all back to stock.
The question is now: how do I turn off the phone? Pressing power button will simply restart the phone - it never goes to off.
Another question: if I don't install any custom recovery, is there any stock recovery installed? When I attempted to go to recovery (by pressing volume down + power method), I was presented with Factory reset questions. I clicked OK twice and then Android logo appears (it seems like it's attempting to really do a factory reset) and then phone reboots.
If I can go to stock recovery, I hope I can access the storage inside and redo what I did yesterday.
Anyone can help? Or share some knowledge?
Thanks
The latest software upgrade was installed by using LGMobile support tool. I'm back to stock and finish with ioRoot.
Now, going to use AutoRec to install recovery (better to have custom now, so if this happens again, I have a way to access my phone data).
No answers given but it's no longer urgent now. Still if anyone found a way to off the phone when boot looping other than waiting for battery to run dry, by all means, please reply the thread.
Thanks.

Unplug the USB cable if it's plugged.
Hold power button for like 30 seconds straight.
To turn off phone ,just push volume down and power button same time for like 7-10 sec, it will be like restart , but keep them pressed until screen shuts off again (it will take less then 1 sec). Thats all

I didn't time 30 seconds, but I did press power button for a long time. Is this method for when you can use the phone? Mine is during boot loop.

I can't say for sure now, since I have my phone backed-on. But I sort of press these buttons for a long time at the beginning (when I wasn't really sure how to go to recovery mode). But good to know about this - (for next time ).
thanks both!
Only method i know to completely shut down phone in any situation is what i already wrote in last post.

Agreed.
it happen to me too when I try to install MIUI ROM.
Pull off USB cable and long press power the power button
Thanks. I'll remember this, if I got unlucky and stuck in booth loops.
For now, I installed recovery, so hopefully if this happens, I can still access my internal folder and do the require changes.

[Q] Help please !! Autostart f bootloop "Recovery Booting screen" after flashing Twrp
Long time xda lurker here,
I have just thrown my t mobile note 3 into an autostarting bootloop that i dont know how to recover from. I have successfully used this same process 4 times on 4 devices, S 3, tab 2,galaxy light and lg volt. Although this time i used mobile odin as the flash tool.
I flashed twrp to the note 3 because it didnt have any recovery at all. Ive had this phone rooted for about a year without a recovery. After flashing twrp now it constantly autostarts to the logo screen and in top left corner it says recovery booting then it restarts with the same result. Ive tried leaving the battery out for an hour but when i reinsert it, i dont even have to push power and it starts bootlooping again. I cant get in download mode, safe mode, recovery mode, anything mode. Im at a loss. Any advice, any at would be appreciated. Is there any way to fix this.

If the phone turns on by itself when you put the battery in then it's almost certainly the Power switch on the mainboard or the plastic Power button (which is what we interact with).
If that's happening on your phone the first thing to check is the case (if present), to make sure it's not pressing on the Power button.
Next would be to take the phone apart and gently pry the plastic Power button off (there's two legs that hold it in - be careful not to snap them off).
Finally, the Power switch itself - it may just be gunked up, in which case you can try compressed air or electronic contact cleaner (be sure to remove the battery first!) and exercise the switch to get it working.
Otherwise you'll have to replace the switch.
I am going to give that a look right now but it wasnt stuck before flashing twrp. Mobile odin said it was going to restart then it immediately started doing this.
Ok going to check power button now.

The power button seems to be clean on the board and its free on the case, unfortuanately that wasnt the problem.

I've had this before and in my case the Recovery is in place but the boot loop will not let you access it.
Try forcing the phone down by holding down power for >8secs. Then as soon as it goes off, press Vol Up + Home + Power to go to Recovery. If it works, Factory Reset and see if it starts.
If that doesn't work, (Factory) then try flashing a ROM from your extSD if you have one, or flash the TWRP Recovery from there.
If that doesn't work either, remove battery and as you put it back in, have Home + Vol Down + Power pressed as you push battery in - just have battery sitting ready to push in with 1 finger holding it, press the 3 buttons and push battery home. Go into DL mode and Odin a firmware. Get the TWRP .tar file from TeamWiz and flash it from Odin after the ROM. Take the tick out of 'Auto Reboot for both processes. Take phone down, restart in Recovery and flash SuperSU.
Ok journeyman16,
Trying those 1 by 1 right now. Hopefully 1 will work, thanks for reply.

Nothing stops the "recovery booting" bootloop. Although for some reason i now have to actually push the power button before the power comes on after a reinsertion of the battery. But still same bootloop. Idk getting really discouraged with this one.
By the way, I do have an ext SD card with 2 nandroid and a titanium backup but they are useless with what it's doing

That's strange. It might be a timing issue where you aren't doing the DL mode buttons quick enough. DL mode should be available if it gets far enough to try Recovery boot. Did you try having the 3 buttons pressed and holding them down before pushing the battery in? (as in Vol Down + Menu + Power) I ask because it can be awkward to do it all at once - and it takes only a split-second lift of a finger to miss the boot.

Yes i have tried it a hundred times at least, lol. I was holding the buttons then pressing it against my leg to insert the battery fully.
I dont understand it either. Im at the point of just leaving the battery out for about 8 hrs then trying again, basically a hope and a prayer situation.

After my 2 1/2 hrs of sleep i put the battery back n and it went in download mode thankfully.
Tried to start it normally but it just loops to logo without recovery booting on thr screen.
Guess i wiped it somehow with mobile odin. Idk.
Thanks for all the help.
Ill be using regular odin when i get home to restore it.

Note 3 is working better than new
As an update, I ended up putting the tweaked ROM with custom kernal on my device and it just purs along at lightning speed now. That's an absolutely wonderful ROM. I highly recommend it. Only problem is if the battery dies it goes into a bootloop but as soon as I connect the charger it boots up. Not a ROM problem I don't believe though. Oh well thanks for the help guys.

Random reboots and now black screen

Hey guys my wife's S7 edge (SM-G935W8, Canadian variant) started rebooting and boot looping for a few days until it suddenly rebooted and stayed on with a black screen and the notification LED stayed blue until the battery died. Even holding home, power and volume down didn't do anything...
The phone was never rooted and completely stock. I just tried reinstalling stock firmware with Odin and everything went well as I got a pass but it still won't boot and gets stuck with black screen and blue LED.
Does this sound like a dead phone? I can't get into stock recovery, only download mode once the battery dies.
Just wondering if it's fixable.
Thanks

You can enter download mode right ?
why don't you try installing TWRP recovery with ODIN
Go to TWRP website... and find your device
download .img.tar file
open odin and insert this file in AP tab and in the option tab (disable "auto reboot" )
( plug your phone via usb to your PC.)
on the log it will show (added)
hit start
once installed...press and hold vol down + home +power key (while it restarts) press and hold vol up + home+power key
You will now enter TWRP Recovery...swipe to allow modifications
wipe - > advanced wipe -> except sd card...select everything and wipe them (all your data will be gone)
now install any custom rom from this site..

I didn't try TWRP but I did try stock firmware from Samsung and Odin, said it passed but I couldn't boot the phone... Doesn't OEM unlock have to be checked in order to install TWRP tho? This phone was completely stock and never rooted.

yes i know but have you tried it ? i thought advanced wipe might help as it will remove everything.
My S7 edge is also having similar issue. It just died 4 days ago at 5 percent battery and red LED kept blinking. I tried to hard reboot using Power + Vol Down, it didn't work. I couldn't get into the Download mode either. It doesn't charge when connected to the charger, not detected on any computer as well. Any thoughts?

I plugged it in last night, after the battery was completely drained. It's been a week since the issue.
It was fine till this morning. I inserted the SIM cards and then connected to the laptop. I thought I would backup the data using smart switch before doing a factory reset. The backup went fine till 75% and then boom again turned off. This time there's a lot of battery left, and I might have to wait 4-5 days before it can be drained completely. But I'm now hopeful that it'll eventually turn on and when it does I'll immediately do a factory reset before doing anything else. I'm suspecting that a rogue app might be causing it. This time it might have happened while that app is being backed up. The LED is constant Red this time indicating the state it was connected to the laptop at the time of incident.
It turned on again last night when I connected the charger. It was showing the charging symbol. After 5-6 minutes of charge I tried to hold Vol - + Power buttons briefly to reset the device and it went off again. It's lying like a brick currently.
No sign of life again!
