Notification problem: Shows old notification first, then flips to new. - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else running into this problem? I'll get a notification, for example a Gmail notification. My phone chirps, then my watch buzzes. I look at my watch and the previous Gmail notification shows up.
After about a 2-3 second pause, it will flip to the new notification. Of course, this is usually just before the notification fades away and my watch face returns which means if I'm looking at just the right moment I might see it, but probably not.
I had this happen with my Samsung Gear Live watch a lot. About a month ago I upgrades to a Moto 360 Gen2 watch and this problem seemed to disappear. But now it's happening on the Moto 360 as well. I did just do an update on the watch which may or may not have been when the notification problem returned.
I'm not running a lot of odd things on my watch. I'm using WatchMaker Premium for my watch faces.

[Q] Any way to disable wake-on-motion?

Seems to me that far and away the #1 battery killer in Wear is the fact that the watch turns itself on constantly due to incidental movements. Hopefully this will be addressed in the next OS update (however that works) but in the meantime... I'm using a Moto 360 and I've read that "silencing" the phone would turn this feature off, didn't work though. I'm thinking of making an app that would just force the screen off until I hit the hardware button and disregard accelerometer events, but I don't know if this is possible. Anyone know if there's a working fix to the overzealous motion wake yet? If not I'll give it the ol' college try...

Can someone please help with this?? I have the same problem!
I would really like this as a feature too. In class it can be a bit distracting. There should really be a ton more options in the Android Wear app. Options like:
Disable Motion to Wake
Disable Tap to Wake
Swipe up/down (on the bottom) to hide/show notifications
Option to re-show dismissed weather cards without saying "Show me the weather".
Option to turn off vibrator (I can just glance at my watch when I feel my phone vibrate)
To answer the OP, no you can not disable wake-on-motion.
Many want this, I want this but who knows what Google will offer.
Rumor is there will be a Android Wear update soon, but I read the main thing is you will be able to play music from your watch, great I get 16-17 hours battery life and I really want to use it as a MP3 player.

[Q] Smartwatch doing things by itself

Hey everyone, first time poster here.
I've bought a Sony Smartwatch 3 after the contacts on my LG G watch broke, but I'm noticing a problem that's been happening on both watches.
I can be doing anything with it, or just having it resting on the desk in front of me, and all of a sudden it'll wake itself and then start scrolling up and down randomly and going into random apps. sometimes even calling people who text me. (you can imagine trying to fight with said watch while it goes about calling every text)
And that's another thing, I have to sit there attempting to reassert my touch control over some phantom user by polishing the screen with my finger.
How do I stop this from happening? I've tried turning off the tilt to wake, nothing. And I can't seem to physically lock the touchscreen with the side button like you'd expect. I can still unlock by double tapping (a function I'd like to disable) and the thing starts off all over again.
Is it something to do with static or is the unit just faulty?

If its happened on both watches it sounds like something is interfering with the watch, maybe the contacts could be environmental?? Try giving it a "good" clean. I have an LG watch R and my son has the Sony SW3 and we haven't seen those issues.
Have you tried pairing the watches with another phone?

I've tried cleaning the SW3 with both screen cleaner and soap and warm water (as its waterproof for running water and none of them seem to help.
I've also tried resetting the watch 6 times since buying it a month ago.
Any ideas on how to turn off "tap to wake"?

Unlocking inside pocket due to active display

The active display feature is great but it's sensors seem to be extremely sensitive with it turning on every few seconds as a result.
Also when I put it in my pocket with the active display still on there's a good chance it will unlock itself and open a bunch of apps by itself.
Is there any way to get around this? thanks
You can disable active notifications or add a lockscreen code/pattern if you are that concerned. Mine so far, "sometimes" activates notifications in my pocket, but the sensor is designed to avoid this. However, mine has never unlocked in my pocket.
Lol......I guess this happened to me a couple days ago, because when I was looking through my gallery I had 28 black/blank pictures (of the inside of my pocket). The best party, the new Google Photo's app sent me a notification that I had an animated montage of all my "recent photo activity", it was 5 seconds of noting
Thanks Google photos for making me laugh!
You must have activated the twist camera... Must have been some party!

If you were to do this, is there any kind of notification indicator at all remaining?
I don't know if it was the same thing, but when i was running it often goes crazy. Switching the screen on and then selecting random apps to open.
I was walking at work today and suddenly heard the "Beep-boop" of the dialer from my pocket... and I have a lockscreen code.
Happens to me too, annoying
I just got my moto x style a few days ago and almost every time I put it into my pocket it unlocks itself, I can tell because it gets very hot in my pocket from opening apps and using internet.
Those of you having this issue, do you have "Lift for Moto Voice" enabled? I was having problems and turned off that feature and noticed a huge difference. Doesn't seem to wake up on its own anymore ...

Wake screen on Notification

Hi,
I've been using an app called "Screen Notifications" since I received my S8 on release. This is simply to have the notifications pop up when my phone is locked so I can see at a glance what is coming through. Since the Oreo update this no longer works.. I also tried Glimpse, which essentially does the same job, but also doesn't work. Anyone else having issues or have a workaround for this?
My phone is essentially stock.
After a LOT of time trying to figure out what the cause was I eventually found the culprit.
For those wondering it was the edge lighting notifications which were stopping the 3rd party app for waking the screen.
Now resolved

What smartwatch should I get to replace my Zenwatch 2? With specific criteria.

I want to replace my Asus Zenwatch 2 with some other smartwatch. I'm thinking of getting an LG Watch Sport, but I want to explore other options too... I'm very interested in the Ticwatch E. I love transparent stuff - it looks so futuristic! - and I actually prefer the button on the left, so I can press it with my thumb. Or maybe a Samsung watch - they're expensive and kinda ugly, but maybe Tizen would work better for me than WearOS?
Here are my criteria.
Requirements:
large round face
available in Canada
charges reliably (Zenwatch 2's super-fussy, unreliable charger connection is what's driving me to replace it)
Must support these crucial features (they don't have to work exactly the same way as what I currently have, but if I can't achieve similar functionality with Tizen, then I should probably stick with WearOS):
Alarms/Reminders:
need: go off at the right time even if my watch has no bluetooth or wifi connection
need: pop up a notification with custom text
strongly desire: customizable vibration patterns
nice-to-have: can set buzz pattern for individual alarms, as well as app-level default
nice-to-have: can create alarm/reminder from watch
Morning routine reminders: I have a really hard time getting ready for work in the morning, and I use an interval timer (ChronoList) to stay on track. I have it set up to buzz every five minutes, and each time it buzzes, it pops up a notification of what I'm supposed to be doing right then (e.g. 'put lunch in backpack').
need: ability to launch app at a certain time (currently doing this with Tasker)
need: custom text, as above
strongly desire: custom buzz patterns, as above
Strong desires:
ability to block ALL unwanted notifications/vibrations (for the life of me, I cannot convince my current watch to stop buzzing on bluetooth connect/disconnect. It drives me crazy, and it trains me to ignore when my watch buzzes, which makes it harder to notice the buzzes of my important reminders!)
settings should persist through power cycle (my watch often power cycles itself overnight, and when it turns back on, it turns on 'also vibrate for calls' and it turns the volume up - combine that with a fussy charge connection and the inability to turn off power connect/disconnect alerts, and you have a watch that suddenly starts going "BEE BOO. BOO BEE! BEE BOO. BOO BEE! in the middle of the night)
So, what do you think? LG Watch Sport? Ticwatch E? One of the Samsung Gear watches? Or something else I haven't even considered?
Maybe Ticwatch Pro here
