Stock firmware - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I want a clean factory reset.... But when I flash a stock firmware I always have to flash the hidden.img separately. I have the feeling it doesn't factory reset my phone 100%. I still keep the startup screen I installed from a rom (which replaced the Samsung g928F screen with a nice picture... Stupid but I did it once)... So it doesn't factory reset my phone completely I have the feeling. Also I sometime have issue with sending messages... "message not send". After a reboot it's fixed but could it be cause of the not 100% factory reset?
1: why do i have to flash the hidden.img separately? Should I flash the modem.img also separately? Don't know if it matters?
2: someone has a stock firmware for belgium (europe) which I don't have to flash the hidden.img separately?
3: what could cause my message problem? Cause I'm on fast and furious rom and I want a clean restart... But if someone knows why I can't send messages sometimes..... I DON'T HAVE TO FACTORY RESET MY PHONE!! that's the only reason I want to factory reset my phone... If that would fix my message problem.
Sorry for the big text. I tried factory reset with the hidden.img flashed separately but it didn't solve my message problem...
Thanks guys!

Another Newbie with a slight problem.

I tried to flash from darky's rom back to I9000UGJK3.tar
Using Odin i selected the s1_odin_20100512.pit then pda for I9000UGJK3.tar
Things went well with Odin but when the phone trys to boot the splash screen just flashes endlessly.
Im guessing i pooched something along the way.
Download mode works but not sure how to get this stock rom back on.
Any suggestion would be appreciated

You shouldn't use a pit or re-partition for a 1 file firmware.
I know i messed up,
Anyhow i just flashed I9000XXJPU, selected re-partition, and selected
PDA,MODEM,CSC.
Everthing worked then, when the phone rebooted, it says cannot mount sd card, use UI something. Then it just flashes the logo screen like before.
Update: reflashed with I9000UGL2 and the phone works now.
Now if i could only figure out what my original firmware was, Kies does not work now
To go back to stock:
1) Back up things u love
2) Make factory reset. Any reset options you can get
3) Wipe
4) Download firmware from samfirmaware.com
5) Patch with all 4 files
6) Factory reset, wipe, clear cache
Done
Well i followed the instruction from this page:
If you had enough or want to send it back in for warranty and want to go back to a STOCK ROM, this video shows how to go back to a 2.2.1 default ROM which in this case is JPY based - Made by AndroidGalaxyS:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009197
The problem now is I cannot remember what firmware i had. My phone is not coming up as a bell phone and the code to reinstall the provider apps will not work.
I think im screwed, have a feeling there gonna know i was messing with my phone if i try to bring it back, which is what i want to do. I have a extended warranty from Future shop, and supposedly they will not honour it for any software related problems.
Also now when my phone boots i keep getting a gallery force close. The phone is like a semi functional brick right now.
Not sure if the firmware is region specific in Canada as well but i got my phone in BC?
Usual Darky f9999 my phone repair kit .
Boot to restore wipe Dalvik cache followed by factory reset and wipe .
Boot to download mode flash stock rom with pit relevant to that rom and repartition checked .
Once working you can upgrade as you want .
jje
Sarcasm, just do as stated above. Find the default canadian firmware. If you can make make ur phone upgrade/update with kies, without messing with kies itself you r home.

Im not to sure how to do that. Is that in the recovery mode?
Update:
I used titanium backup to wipe davlik cache. re flashed with Firmware: I9000MUGKC1 found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1022445
Still no luck Kies says this device version cannot be updated.
I tried this code to get the stock bell apps but it does not work. nothing happens when you finish with # then if i press the dial button it just says USSID code rejected.

Trying to fix them I flashed a couple of roms ( Stock/ semi stock) via Odin. However that has even made the problem worse now my phone wont boot at all it passes the galaxy S4 screen then sound comes and the phone gets stuck on flashing samsung logo.

I have not tried with the pit file, I will give that a try.
I used
United Kingdom BTU (April 2013)
PDA: I9505XXUAMDM
CSC: I9505OXXAMDB
Version 4.2.2
provided by you in the unroot/unbrick topic. Assuming it will be the right firmware for the UK i9505.
Can you suggest any other firmware.
I appreciate the help Samersh

if it was a software issue it must be ok after flashing stock.
yes, i think it is a HW issue, since, also, before you begin to mess with it, it had issues

I9505 No Brand, Loose sound, reboots and get stuck

Hi,
I have a no brand Galaxy S4. I was on ARHD Firmware, a stock 4.2.2 optimized. From the end of december, i started to get randomly nosound.
With "no sound" I mean no notification, no media and no audio during call. After this issue phone became irresponsive, using volume regulation keys and ususally after phone calls phone, touckwiz or phone process crash.
I selective de-ativate all application that can cause this (Tasker, Audio Setting, Titanium Backup etc..) but issue persist.
I do a Wipe and reinstalled all apps, but since few minutes after reinstallation, i have same issue again.
So i decided to upgrade to 4.3, with phoenix rom 7.3, but problem still persist, and in addition sometime, phone start to use a lot of battery with process "Android System" ans Kernel.
Only way to fix for a limited time, is to reboot. Sometime rebbot does not fix the audio issue, so i have to enter in recover and wipe dalvilk and cache.
I suspect an hardware issue, but before start the replacement procedure i would like to be pretty sure that it's hardware. Some others have this kind of issue? How do you fix?
Thanks
Marco

Hi @Repulsa,
today i got only one sound loose, instead 10 or 12. After sound loose, i rebooted, but phone stuck on reboot confirmation. After few second phone crashed and rebooted.
I would like to rever to stock, with file you link me in early post. Do you have instruction hot to revert to stock, and after how to root?
I would like to try original 4.2.2 but I need root.
Another question, reverting to stock 4.2.2 I'll got Knox? And at least, is there a way to block Samsung Update message on stock rom?
Many thanks in advance.

You can download a prerooted 4.2.2 rom from here http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23050663588004454. Flash the file via odin by selecting pda. No need to root. Then flash recovery such as philz,TWRP then you can flash any custom rom you like. And If you flash 4.2.2 you wont get knox . Just dont flash a 4.3 stock roms. Goodluck
Instructions For Flashing Stock rom
- Extract the file
- Open Odin3 v3.09
- Restart phone in download mode (Press and hold Power + Volume down buttons)
- Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
- Add - Add the file you download .tar.md 5 to AP
- Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
- Click start button,
-Done
If you get problem do this.
- If you encounter any issues with the firmware (Any FC, Bootloop etc)
- Boot into recovery mode (power+vol up)
- Choose to wipe/factory reset. (THIS WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR DATA INCLUDING YOUR INTERNAL SD CARD!)
- Then choose reboot

It's hard to answer since you provided no crucial details about your phone, configuration or how you flashed it.
You didn't tell us which S5 model you have or your carrier. Nor what firmware file you flashed, so we don't know if it was a compatible file. No Odin log, so we don't know if the flash had errors or not. And you didn't describe how you flashed step by step so we don't know if you missed essential steps.
At a guess, try wiping the partition cache from recovery mode. Then if necessary, do a factory data reset as well (will delete user files!). If you have ongoing problems, then you should restore your backup and try again from that stable condition.
No backup? That is a bad habit to say the least. In that case, flash a full stock firmware image that matches the carrier that the phone was originally sold for.

The Model is SM G900F. Its On Three Carrier. I Flashed A STOCK (From SamMobile) Firmware 4.2.2.
The Flash Process Was Successful. No Errors.
Put Device In Download Mode
Connected To Computer
Loaded Firmware Into PDA
Ftime reset
Auto Reboot
Started The Flashing.
Completed.
Phone rebooted. Got Acore has stopped. Then the phone reboots.
But since I needed my phone working quickly I took the path of factory reset and that seems to have fixed it. I did try clearing the cache but no effect.
I believe I know the issue. I used a launcher called Themer. I have reasons to think that was causing the issue because as it was loading in the background I managed to quickly hit the continue button to close the crashed process boxes and as the Launcher finished "Loading" it when it rebooted.
WARNING FOR OTHERS. Always Remove Other Launchers Before Flashing As A Precaution! (Warnings From Newbies Hehe)

SM-N910F strange bootloop - only certain ROMs... ?

Hi!
Just got myself Note 4, and after rooting and installing TWRP I started looking for ROM that fits my needs. And here goes the strange thing - after tryign few ROMs, now the only ones that will work are Omega, Emotroid & CMRemix. All others after flashing keep rebooting. That is, system starts, and after 30 secs to 1 minute there is reboot. AND - they don't see the SIM card. Those that work do.
I tried to revert to basics - tried FULL erase from TWRP, reflashed via ODIN original roms (those started no problem), but when in tried again - the same. Other ROMs keep crashing.
So, does anybody have an idea how to totally wipe a phone ( I mean, totally, just leaving ODIN flashing capability so that I can reflash it)? I suspect that there must be somethign somewhere that stayed after one of the ROMs. And what puzzles me, those ROMs that now crash it, were working prevoiusly.
Any ideas/advice will be appreciated.
Thanks!
