Here is the link for rooting with MF3
OP, please read up before you proceed. If you don't know what you're doing, I would highly advise against rooting at the moment.
Should be posted in q&a. Next time do little searching before posting

Just wondering about the safety of installing roms made for the i337 on the i337m or i9505. I recall reading a big thread on XDA talking about this earlier. Thanks.
I've got the i337m and I've never had a issue. On a i9505g Rom now. You can flash anything to anything as long as bootloader isn't locked

Hi friends: as you know a 4.4.2 leak for SGH-I337 is on XDA, thanks to designgears. Actually, there is a .tar version, odin flashable. Can anyone tell me if this is compatible with unlocked canadian I337M and can be safely flashed?

first thx a lot.
but I'm on MK6 (4.3) right now, would there be any issue with Knox?

The leak won't work for you because it's a full ODIN package. It's signed for I337 and not the I337M, and is not in a flashable zip form. Even if you could use it, you'd have a locked bootloader afterwards and never have recovery again. You'll have to use some other 4.4.2 ROM, maybe check the i9505 development section for a recovery flashable one.

Thx so much. It's clearer now for me; it is indeed a tar file signed for I337 I was wrongly thinking that since I337M and I337 both share the same hardware rom compatibility might be possible, but I guess the AT&T factor plays the game otherwise. I'll check what's cooking in i9505 thread.
So, If I understand you correctly, an i9505 flashable zip, like wamalite for example, would work for i337m, is that so?

Yes. Any ROM in a flashable zip for any variant of the S4 except the i9500 (exynos model) will work on your device. I9505 are the easiest to get working, some other variant ROMs may need tweaking to work well. There's a thread about running other carrier ROMs in the general section.

last, would there be any knox issues if I flashed I9505 roms or do I have to simply remove knox? I also read that someone who flashed I9505 rom onto his I337m tulred his device to I9505 as well; is that "normal"

I don't know much about how knox affects custom recovery or if you can flash without tripping it. I know for sure it won't stop anything but would just simply void warranty. If you flash an I9505 ROM then because of the build.prop it will tell you it's an I9505, but it's still an I337M, you can't like use the i9505 ODIN files or anything just because you have an i9505 rom.

you've been extremely helpfull, thx a lot bro.
I've been trying to get either carbon Kitkat or aosb 1.2.7 on my i337, but when I try to flash the rom in twrp 2.6.3.1 it keeps giving me an error saying that the rom is only for jflte, jfltexx, i9505, gt-i9505. I don't know how to remedy this problem, am I stuck out?
Hey all. I have an at&t GS4 running MF3. I remember when MF3 first came about how everyone was saying it will be impossible to downgrade this firmware. My question is has someone figured out a way to do it yet? I don't understand why this "qfuse?" would stop us from downgrading our devices. My main goal with a downgrade is to be able to install GPE KitKat. I currently have safestrap but i believe it is still limited by not being able to use roms that are not 4.2.2. Hope to get some help soon. Please don't be rude and thank you for your help.
Oh! Also if there is another way to run GPE KitKat on MF3 please let me know! Maybe safestrap can do that now! idk.
Again thanks for all the help.

There is no way yet to downgrade to a lower version with the locked bootloader. The fuse count is stored in the aboot and when flashing in download mode, it checks if the one being written has same or higher count. If not, it will fail the write and hence we wont be able to downgrade.
The locked bootloader puts the restriction on safestrap. We can only successfully boot a ROM that matches the base firmware version. This is because we cannot flash a kernel that doesnt match the bootloader. So, if you are on MF3, you can boot roms that are based on 4.2.2 only.
So basically no one has yet to find a way to boot anything higher than 4.2.2? That sucks :/ oh well then. Will just do gpe 4.2.2 with the Google home app.

I assume since your on MF3 that your in reference to running custom 4.2.2 ROM"s via Safestrap...
You can move up to running custom 4.3 ROM's if you update to the MK2 firmware and use the latest version of Safestrap. This is currently the best option for a non-MDL device. I suggest updating to MK2 and loading a 4.3 ROM like Hyperdrive.
Alternatively, you can upgrade to MK2 and use the Deadly Venom Kitkat Tool to run 4.4 ROM's...
I'd HIGHLY suggest reading this thread...

Do the downgrade and root, and while on MK2 use the "Possible SIM unlock for MK2" thread.

To go from 4.4.2 to 4.3 is somewhat possible, other downgrades aren't possible. There's a thread titled NB1 DOWNGRADE with the information to do that. Check your baseband first, if you're on NC1 you might need to flash NB1 first.

The title pretty much says it all. I have a Rooted AT&T I337 (4.4.4) with safestrap. I believe I want to move from safe strap to TWRP in order try out several different ROMS. Or should I just stick with safestrap? Any assistance, guidance or useful opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Bump- I am looking to purchase something (att) which there is a lot of development on that I can flash roms from the Unified section too. I'm wondering if you have to have the (ATT branded) device Unlocked to do this? Sorry- don't mean to hijack your thread- Just figured we were looking for the same thing.

Since you have 4.4.4, you cannot use TWRP. Safestrap is the only working recovery.
