Hello
I got a Razr M yesterday and rooted it and unlocked the boot-loader and installed TWRP.
The phone is on 98.15.66 so i figured i would update it to the newest OTA.
The following assert fails
assert(apply_patch_check("EMMC:boot:10485760:6c80d1f837bb3a127bc7aabd0164afd09e51475e:10485760:bbc1976c3cf2987f182a4747934ffb8d0f532fd8"));
Is this caused by the unlocked boot-loader? By TWRP? If by TWRP is it feasible to download the the SBF image, form droid-developers ("VZW_XT907_4.1.2-9.8.1Q-66_1FF.xml.zip""), extract the recovery.img and flash that and then run the update or would the assert still fail as the updates between would have changed recovery.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks
I'm getting the same kind of thing...
I'm rooted stock trying to apply OTA
I get
assert failed: apply_patch_check("EMMC:boot: ..............")
Not sure what to do. Can anyone help?

I just ran into this problem when trying to apply an OTA update to my rooted Droid4. It was because I had the SafeStrap boot loader in place. I went into SafeStrap and told it to uninstall the boot loader, then the OTA worked. And then I lost root from the update, which I didn't know would happen...doh!

idk how the problem occured I followed the root instructions perfectly . I had the latest twrp out so couldn't have been that. os was missing and nothing i tried could get it back installed, so following more instructions led me to downgrade the twrp and install b29 stock then i just did the whole root process over following the same instructions that sent the phone into a loop but this time everything worked correctly. i updated twrp and installed super su and now i have full root. axon7toolkit provided majority of the tools needed.
I tried to unlock my bootloader with the Asus official unlock tool. But failed to unlock then I used this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-2-laser/general/guide-unlock-bootloader-asus-unlock-app-t3405850 to unlock my bootloader and successfully unlocked my bootloader. Then I installed twrp using fastboot. I saw an error in my twrp which is -failed to mount/factory invalid argument. After all of these I installed custom rom and gapps successfully (I wiped cache after installation) then I reboot my device and my device was stuck in boot logo. I waited more than 30mins but nothing happened. No matter which rom I tried but had to face the same problem every time.
Is the twrp errors the main problem of my bootloop?
If it then how to fix it ?
Please help me I posted here with lots of hope. I hope I'll find a
good suggestion which might help me out. I don't want to stay in marshmallow anymore please help me ??.
Please forgive me for my English.

I got the same problem but error was in /asdf partition. So after wiping that my problem got solved.
You also try wiping everything except internal storage and SD card. Then install rom and gapps and check. :good:
So the other day i successfully unlocked bootloader and flashed magisk onto my original Oreo phone.
Then installing busybox ndk module essential left my phone booting only into twrp-3.1.1.0.
I tried wiping data and then formatting it. but didnt help.
I tried installing 20A oreo zip but didnt help.
I decided to flash kdz. But i got 0x2000 CES Initialization error.
Finally i thought, it is because of my unlocked bootloader. Foolishly i locked it.
Now I have no twrp and my phone keeps bootlooping.
Please help. I just bought it for 340$.

Flash it using Uppercut, choose Update method, then choose the KDZ and flash it.
This works everytime even with bootloader unlocked.
Firstly, thank you very very much for your replies guys. Appreciate it very much. I got the phone to Download mode somehow. Used Uppercut and flashed 20A kdz. Now phone is back to stock 20A.
I will write a guide about it so that lost users like me can find there way in easy steps.
Have a nice day you guys!

You need a DEV to fix TWRP for your device because your TWRP you are using is for Android 6, it needs updating for working on android 8.1. Or if you want Twrp, you can downgrade to android 6 and flash it.

The Twrp is only for android 6 and need a developer to maintain it and fix error with android 8.1. If you want twrp, just downgrade your tablet to android 6 and flash twrp.

Commonly TWRP will not install if you're using a version incompatible with the device, check to make sure. You should always have the original stock frimware on hand in case anything goes wrong. If you do encounter difficulties such as bootloops you can basically start over by flashing in the stock firmware in download mode via Odin3. Sometimes after flashing it may take a while for the device to fully boot up, I've had some take hours.

You have to wipe data after a downgrade.
