[Q] Blocked at the ‘YouTube Sign-In’ Dialog Box

I cannot believe I’m the only one with this problem but I see nothing about this in the forums.
Problem: After successfully booting with TouchNooter 2.1.31, after logging into both YouTube and Gmail, after seeing my Gmail and seeing the Market options 24 hours later, I realized I needed access to a different Gmail address. I registered Gmail #2 with B&N then repeated the rooting process but now I cannot log into YouTube from the Nook. I can, however, log into YouTube from the PC.
Questions: Could Google’s Two-Step Verification prevent logging into YouTube from the Nook? Could updating the firmware (from 1.1.0 to 1.1.2) before reregistering the device be a factor?
My Steps: (I’ve repeated this cycle three times)
• restore the Nook’s original ROM from the image made following jocala’s instructions.
• see the “Welcome to Your All New Nook” screen.
• register the N2E with the B&N account which uses Gmail #2
• decline to give a credit card number
• delete the partitions from the SD card using Mini Partition Manager
• burn new TouchNooter 2.1.31 image to SD card. Follow all TouchNooter instructions.
• boot Nook with TouchNooter . Screen ‘turns’ black but does not ‘flash’ black. Remove SD card. Reboot.
• launch YouTube from ADW Launcher.
• Fail YouTube login. “The username or password isn’t valid. A YouTube account is required. Please try again.”
• use NookColorTools/Manage Applications to clear the YouTube cache.
• Fail Youtube login. “The username or password isn’t valid. A YouTube account is required. Please try again.”
Additional Details
I updated the Nook (from 1.1.0 to 1.1.2.) before making an image of the ROM.
Talked to B&N. Verified the B&N account (using Gmail #1) is deleted.
Performed an “Erase and Deregister” from the stock state.
Performed an “Erase and Deregister” from the TouchNooter state (a bad idea).
Can anyone tell me why I am stopped dead at the YouTube sign-in dialog box?
Is your gmail account #2 linked to a youtube account?
Yes, I checked that YouTube is linked to Gmail #2.
It was my only idea, too bad
I am using my nook with 2 gmail accounts : I registered to BN and rooted with an account and then from the account menu in gmail I added another one. Emails are working for both accounts. I didn't try the market (because I use it only with the first account) and calendar/contacts sync.
Since rooting worked with #1, you can root again with #1 and add #2 as an extra account in gmail.
It doesn't really solve the problem but it's a way around.
Solved: Indeed, Google's 'Two-Step Verification' was the issue. To log into YouTube from the Nook I needed to generate an 'application specific password' using Google's tool then enter the resultant 16-digit password into the password field of the TouchNooter/YouTube dialog box.
If you have 'Two-Step Verification' enabled (and you should), go to your Google Accounts page. Select "Application Specific Passwords" from the left side of the page. Scroll down to the tool for generating the password. Tip: It's best to watch the video first.
For me it was turning off logins from insecure apps more info here.

Fix Nexus Q App Login and Setup Issue

Just quick post for now, will get around to posting full set of steps soon.
Basically if you already have an existing device with the Nexus Q logged in, do not clear the app data or factory reset the device!
I followed the instructions at this link to copy out the app data from an existing phone/device that already has the Nexus Q app logged in.
blog.shvetsov.com/2013/02/access-android-app-data-without-root.html
The Java package name of the Nexus Q app is com.google.android.setupwarlock.
I then unzipped the archive using the above instructions, and pushed the files to the /data/data/com.google.android.setupwarlock folder. The files seem to contain the keystore, hashes and your Google ID associated with the nexus Q.
I hope this helps for now. I wasn't able to get music to stream to the Nexus Q, seems like the servers handling that have problems. Getting the "Couldn't play the stream you requested" error.
TL;DR Copy over the app data from an existing device that has the Nexus Q app logged in.

Thank you for the info. I've bought a Nexus Q from ebay and it does not work as the App doesn't login.
Is there any chance to edit the App-data and copy another google-accountname to it? That would be very helpful to reanimate those Nexus Qs

I am not sure. It appears it's somewhat hashed or encrypted to your google sign-in. I will have to look into it further.
I also realised that you need to be rooted to do the above steps cos you need to go into the /data/data/<app package name> folder and create those missing directories.
I've been really flooded at my day-job lately, again apologise for the delay in posting. I suspect we might be better off hacking the APK or recreating the hash.

I'm in the same boat, what to do with a Nexus Q that has never been setup...... got mine for free, just never got around to setting it up until tonight and no luck with either the app, or anything really..
Steps to Restore Nexus Q App Login on Different Device
OK. FINALLY. Full set of steps here. Because Google shutdown the servers that verify your login before letting you into the Nexus Q app, you need to migrate the app data over. This information is only meant for people running the stock Nexus Q Android ICS build, and with phones using production builds without root access.
IMPORTANT: If you already have an existing phone/device that has the Nexus Q app logged in, DO NOT clear the app data or factory reset the device!
1. Connect your old device with Nexus Q app installed there (with it still logged in) with ADB
Issue on command line:
adb backup -f <path to file>/databackup.ab -noapk com.google.android.setupwarlock
This backs up the app data into the file name "databackup.ab" from the Nexus Q app without the apk onto your PC. The Java package name of the Nexus Q app is com.google.android.setupwarlock.
2. Go to your new device, install the Nexus Q app from the play store.
3. Connect your new device with ADB
Issue on command line:
adb restore databackup.ab
This restores the app data onto the new device.
4. Next time you launch the Nexus Q app, you should see it logged in and you're able to control the Nexus Q from the app (assuming all are on the same wifi network)
5. Ensure your google account is logged in on the device. Install the old versions of the Google Play Music, Google Play Movies, YouTube. Their APKs are floating around somewhere on this forum
Issue the command:
adb install -r <name of apk file to install>
6. Test the apps and you should be able to use your Nexus Q with the apps as before.
7. Configure the Play store to stop automatically upgrading the Google Play Music, Google Play Movies and YouTube apps.
I have an older phone and I flashed an older JB 4.2 or 4.3 build system.img and used the old versions of Google Play Music, Google Play Movies and YouTube APKs. I'm able to enjoy music, movies and youtube on my Nexus Q as before, with the pretty blinking LEDs that I love so much.
I hope this comes in helpful to anyone trying to keep their Nexus Q alive.
NOTES:
I followed the instructions at this link to learn how to copy out the app data (and do android backups in general):
blog.shvetsov.com/2013/02/access-android-app-data-without-root.html
I unzipped the app data archive using the above instructions, looked around at what they did. The files seem to contain the keystore, certificates, hashes and your Google ID associated with the nexus Q. Next step might need to be decompiling the Nexus Q app APK to see what it does.
If anyone has any helpful hints or comments I'd appreciate them.

[Q] pa gapps problem for several apps

hi all
I'm just upgraded to the new pa gapps full, all apps works fine except Google+, YouTube, and hangouts. it seems that not able to pop up login window, just see the screenshot.
and I've found there is no Google+ at Sync list.
what am I supposed to do to make YouTube work? I don't intend to flash the system rom again ....or change to another rom...
There is no more pa gapps. Hasn't been for a couple months. Use something newer

[Q] Youtube updates crash

My Mojo's Youtube app crashes right after executing it, whenever some update files are downloaded.
In order to have it working again I have to uninstall the updates by resetting Youtube to the initial configuration in the Android Settings menu.
When opening Youtube I can see for a moment a navigation bar the address being directed to some downloaded file (leanbacklite_3-x .swf Flash files).
I don't think it's malware but there's not much info on Google.
Has anybody else been affected by this issue?
Thanks.
Apparently, eventually it fixed itself.

Dev ROM and gapps without TWRP or root?

Hopefully this can help some people who don't want to use custom recovery or need root.
My MIX came with a vendor rom from gearbest "Global" 8.0.8.0.0 Stable. I was able to figure out that the bootloader was unlocked through the fastboot method. The vendor ROM didn't have the MIUnlock status within the developer options. I requested for unlock before I knew about the fastboot method. The updater app wouldn't work, no matter which app ROM from xiaomi I downloaded. It would always give me the cannot verify error. But I finally was able to flash to the Dev Rom (no eu) weekly build and then add gapps to it. None of this required twrp or rooting. So here are my steps that I went through. Yes there is Chinese bloatware, but many you can uninstall.
1. Make sure it's unlocked. I used the fastboot option via command prompt. I used this.
2. download XiaomiFlash (old version) here. The newest version kept giving me a Specified cast is invalid problem. you can read about it here
3. Download latest fastboot update Developer ROM.
4. Follow steps 4 through 6 on this webpage here. Make sure you decompress the .tgz file.
My vendor ROM had the Playstore access. But after the update, it was giving me a server error. So I installed the following apps in this order to get it working again. If at some point the install fails, then uninstall the app first and reinstall.
1. Install Google Services Framework 6.0.1
2. Install Google Play Services
3. Install Google Account Manager
4. Install Google Play Store
Reboot and you should have access to the google apps and start downloading other google apps. I then also started uninstalling all of the chinese apps that I couldn't read/understand.
If this is not new, then let this thread die. If this works for you. awesome.
Things that I still can't get to work
1. Android Pay
2. Google Play Movies still says this device is not supported.
3. Can't sync with google contacts
Update I haven't tested this, but you can try it on the Dev or the Stable

@Thorin78
A well put together resource is always welcome.
I think I have an answer/solution for some of your ongoing issues:
1) Android Pay not working:
The unlocked bootloader is probably the reason it's not working.I wouldn't recommend relocking it unless you're on an official Xiaomi ROM.
2) Cannot add new contacts:
I've run into that as well. For now, I'm just adding them on my PC via G-Mail (new contacts).Next time you sync on your phone & you should see the new contacts.
3) Google Play Movies issues may be a location issue. If the phone/Google settings isn't allowing for the exact area/country location where you are/Google Play Movies is official, then that may be the problem.
Loading one of the other ROMs may solve this.
These issues may possibly be solved utilizing root apps/Xposed/etc..... IDK,but,if one is savvy enough to unlock the bootloader/Root/ROM/install Xposed framework & modules, then they can likely find those solutions w/o any assistance.

Thanks @KOLIOSIS, I'm not as concerned w/ #1 and #3 so much. But now I can't get contacts to even sync or show up. It's quite weird. It's not part of the sync procedure.
I do agree, if people are already savvy enough to go through the entire process w/ twrp, they probably are better off w/ that procedure.
Anyways, if this isn't working for others either, hope it's made them more comfortable going the next step of twrp.

For whatever reason,(Google) contacts isn't automatically updating/syncing on the MIX.
Until there's a fix, you'll have to go to SETTINGS > ACCOUNTS > OTHER ACCOUNTS > GOOGLE
Tap on the affected Google account & tap CONTACTS.
Here's where part of the bug lies,as when doing so,the sync is turned off instead of syncing. Simply turn it back on & your contacts should update/match whatever you have on your desktop PC.

OK,now we're getting somewhere:
I've been running the EU ROM 6.12.xx & as of a couple days ago,the GlobeROM 6.12.22 (which looks identical to me) & have/had (Google) contacts on both.
Kinda odd, never seen contacts sync missing with any mfg/phone ROM I've run in the past & that list includes Huawei/OPPO/OnePlus & the typical better known mfgs most are familiar with.
Perhaps loading the Google Contacts app from the Google Play Store will kick it into gear...........................................

Ya, I've been searching on xiaomi forums too. Newp. I've uninstalled Google contacts, reinstalled google contacts (tho play store says it's incompatible).
Removed my google account, installed google contacts, google contacts sync and readded my google account through google contacts and still newp.
Everytime I start a google app, there's a new line added for Sync, but not for contacts.

Sounds like you've done your homework,IDK what else to suggest regarding contacts/syncing.
The only thing I can recommend is using the Nuclear Option & switching to either the EU ROM 6.12.xx (weekly) or the GlobeROM 6.12.xx
Oh this is the Xiaomi Dev GlobeROm.
But ya, EU ROM soon if I can't get this working. It's also interesting that I got root via the Permissions options in the settings.
I think someone fixed it from Xiaomi. Check here. You can download the apk, I haven't yet.

To get the google contacts working, you need to assigned all permission to it first then remove and add your google account again.

I had the same problem on my MIX. The 1st time I saved my contacts on another device as a .vcf file, and imported it from the MIX's contacts menu. Suddenly contacts appeared under Google account along with everything else.
The second time I just downloaded and installed this version of google contants sync http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-contacts-sync/google-contacts-sync-4-0-4-488656-release/google-contacts-sync-4-0-4-488656-android-apk-download/, and again contacts appeared and synced.
Try and let us know.
