Use fingerprint sensor with gloves - Galaxy Note5 General

So the gloves that allow the wearer to use a touchscreen have been around for a while. But the problem is that you still have to take the gloves off in order to unlock the phone with your fingerprint.
Just out of curiosity, I tried to see if I could create another "fingerprint" with the tip of my nose. And it totally worked. I can now unlock my phone with my nose. I just thought this was pretty cool.

Good to know it works, but doubting the security.

Interesting... perhaps a phallus would work as well?

Who nose if it works

Interesting. Now we're going to see people walking around unlocking their phones with their noses!

Do you guys like pattern.locks?

I think this just shows how easy it is to get into.android.phones. Thank god we have software like whispercore. What do you.guys think?

I don't use a screen lock. It's disabled with Nolock, because it's completely unnecessary.
I'm confused..
The site you linked says nothing at all about breaking pattern locks?
Anyhow to answer your question, I do not lock my phone but if I did it would be with a number or word combo.

There you go.
Oh my. Someone just needs to wipe their phone off every once in a while. Either that, or wash their hands.
As an alternative, how about actually using the phone once you've turned it on? I mean if you do anything (text, e-mail, browse, launch an app, change screens) your "grease trail" will likely be altered.
I know I should be using one, but I'm just too lazy to deal with it. I know, sad.

LoL... agree with you 100% on both points!!!!

Let's see, spend two months (more or less) writing code that will make it increasingly difficult to unlock your phone, or wipe the phone on your shirt/pants before you put it down.......I'll go with the latter.

Finger print scanner - where can I get new hardware?

Ok, so I bought my third Atrix today. This one is for a friend of mine. When I picked it up the only thing that seemed to not work is the finger print scanner. I did everything I could think of software wise to get it to work with no success.
I came to the conclusion that it must be a hardware issue. I tore mine apart and the "new" one swapped my known good scanner in and works with no issues.
I looked on ebay found nothing but housings. Does anyone know where I can find a scanner, or does anyone have a parts phone that they can sell me a good one for a fair price?
I have also tried to search for parts, the only place that seems to sell some parts are globaldirectparts maybe worth sending them an email.
There is a post in these forums with a link to a replacement fingerprint scanner you can by online. A quick search should find it.
EDIT:
Screw it... here is what I found on my first search.

thank you for posting something I can use. I tried searching for a while and all I could find were links to roms that didn't support the scanner.
In my efforts to get the phone rooted and ready for use the volume down button also stopped working for no real reason. So now I am stuck.
Flash touch recovery, and flash a Tom that supports a fp scanner. And all Tom's arebrooted now anyways. So that should get you rolling

I dont know if you read the origonal post. But i swapped the sensor with another to prove it was the issue. I need a new sensor not a software issue.
And cnn.cn didn't have anything listed. I checked already.
Hey there,
Here is a suggestion, try looking for Atrix that suffer from Hard bricks and tare use them as spare parts for you own 2.
They shouldn't cost to much, and I guess you could find some on ebay.
finger print is good idea

Yes, I have tried this already once. I ended up fixing what was wrong with the phone that was supposed to be for parts.
I ordered another one now that has no way in hell of being repairable(cost more than the last one that got repaired). So the goal is to swap the logic board into the new one and save the rest for a rainy day.
This will be my 5th atrix
1. was lost to a cab driver
2. is going strong
3. is the dud that needs work (bought for a friend)
4. is the parts phone that is now the nicest one and repaired (keep around as a backup/ loner)
5. is on its way to complete 3
Good thing I bought the screen protector with a lifetime warranty .

Blow to unlock Lockscreen for Nexus 4

Guys,
Micromax has just launched canvas 4 with Blow to unlock feature. Is it possible to get that type of unlocker for Nexus 4?
Thanks,
Why would you want this? It's not exactly the most secure feature in the world, a gust of wind will unlock your phone ready for use.
Here is a thread were you can the stuff you want.. Ideally not a good feature, next useless IMO.
Blow to wake screen
I agree that it is a not good feature to play with. Gust of wind or a small shake of phone will unlock and can be a troublesome.
Thanks for letting me know.
i was expecting something else unfortunately

OK, so i have a few important questions for the experts on here, that i haven't seen.

first, are there any differences between the "f" variant, and the "s" variant? everything i've read has them exactly alike. then, my number one pet peive with my new s7e so far is that when i restart it, it won't allow me to unlock it with my fingerprint, and wants a password instead. i really hate this, and have not seen anything from anyone about it, or how to fix it.
Actually, this has been answered numerous times. Can't get rid of it. Just like Apple iPhone in that respect.

Unfortunately it's one of the newer security features just like the double lock feature after using an app to turn off the screen. There's no way around this but it's definitely more secure if someone were trying to access your phone. A small nuscience for higher security. If you disabled screen lock I think it goes away.

yeah, i get why they are doing it, but i don't get why they put it in and don't allow the USER/OWNER to make a decision to keep it or not. android is open source, and as such nothing should be locked down like this. but in this, there is something i still am missing. why is it any more secure to have to put a password in, than your fingerprint after restarting? actually, it would seem to me, that anytime you have to type a password, you stand a chance of someone else seeing it, or keylogging it. but a fingerprint is only yours, and no one else has it. so what am i missing about this being more secure? and btw, thanks for the response.
The fingerprint sensor works great for me. Although I did have to recalibrate it once again since I didn't do it properly the first time. Also the difference between the F and the S variant is the region they are meant to be sold on. The F is generally for Europe while the S is for Korea.
Is it that much of an inconvenience? How many times a day do you restart your phone?

yeah, i get the region thing. what i was asking for, was to see about using the same custom roms and kernels. everything i have read says that they have the exact same hardware in them. so i am wondering if they can use the same custom roms and kernels?

Samsung Galaxy S7 Active Washing Machine Test

Threw the S7 Active in the washer to see how it would hold up.

That is crazy. You're braver than me. I am so damage prone with my phones I put my new S7A in an Otterbox Defender straight away. Overkill, I'm sure but I can probably drop it off a building or run it over and be fine.

Lol ya, I mean I was pretty confident it would still work since we did pool tests on the s5 active back in the day and that held up well, only thing I worried for was all the tossing n turning in the washer might damage the phone physically but it looked fine.
...but will it survive the dryer?

haha, that I'm pretty sure it wont. The regular s7 didn't fare well on the bbq test even though that was a bit more extreme, but I'm sure the heat would just render it useless or cause the phone to warp a bit or something like that
Off topic. I would like to know if someone with s7 active could extract Activity Zone Apk for me.
Thanks
