Can any one advice me of either another PDA application or a means of transerring txts from my XDA Exec so i can retain them if have to Hard reset device?
Whilst I don't have an Exec so I can't try this out, I use Jeyo Mobile Commander to backup my SMSes and contacts - it works flawlessly with my device, and as it works through ActiveSync chances are it'll work with the Exec too... PM me for more info.

sorry, not sure i understand your question... do you want to backup your txt files? just copy them to a SD card ... or to the PC via activesync or via wlan (without AS). plenty of options available.
In the UK, txts is pretty much used as an everyday slang for 'text messages' (txts.. sending a text, etc) - sorry if we confused you

SMS transfer
Apologies, it is the sms and mms i want to be able to copy from XDA so i dont lose them when ROM upgrade or hard reset is completed.
Is Jeyo Mobile Commander compatible with the XDA EXEC? also there seems to be a new product Jeyo Pocket Companion, does that do the same?
Newbie so bear with me please.
Thanks for your help.

i know for a fact that jeyo (to backup sms's) is compatible with the exec, but i never tried it, don't know exactly which program you need..
anyway does anyone know of a solution to backup them that doesn't need the pc and syncing? sms export to a txt file or csv or anything would be even better.
The only program I've found which can backup your texts without using ActiveSync is a program called smsBackup - but it's quite buggy, and you still have to copy the file off yourself (it just saves the backup file in its Program Files folder, and doesn't ever prompt you to save it anywhere else) - it's free though, so I suppose you can 'work with it' considering the price point

the problem is that this program is not wm5 compatible.
Ah, rats.
To be honest, Jeyo Mobile Commander is WELL worth using ActiveSync for - it's a really, really useful program and doesn't require anything installed on your mobile device to work, so that's even better.

the bad thing is that i'd have to start using outlook then
well, i'll see... if nothing else...
afaik, if you're just using the bog standard New -> Message method of sending texts on your phone, while it does store the messages on the phone in the Outlook hive along with MMSes and emails synced from Outlook, I don't believe you need Outlook on your PC to save and/or restore them, if you catch my drift...

sorry, how do you mean the part about using the new/message method. i just press reply many times after seeing the notification without going into the messaging application.
would be real cool if i don't need outlook for this. i'll definitely check this out. thanks once more.
Well I just use the XDA's regular messaging app for texting too, which I know stores text messages in a pooled area along with mesages synced in from Outlook and MMS messages.
But the Jeyo app just reads my SMSes directly from the phone (I can watch it as it populates the list realtime), and when I back up my messages it saves them directly to its own format file, and restores them directly back again. Outlook is never involved.
2 versions
I think there are 2 versions of Jeyo...
1. Is a standalong app
2. Is a build ontop of Outlook...
What've i've noticed is application 1, does not read sub folders, which i've found to be annoying, as i'm on the verge of a hard reset myself, and i have built up quite a collection of sms's now...
Wish there was an easy answer to this...
Maby SPB Backup is something to look into?
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/backup/?en
Not sure if it does sms/mms, but worth a try
I use Jeyo Mobile Commander to back up my txt msgs, I recently had to send my MDA Pro back to T-mobile so i used Jeyo to save my txt onto my computer and transfered them to my MDA III(BA) until i got my MDA Pro (Universal) back. It works a charm and backs up txt nicley, updates all the current txt on the computer every time you connect it to activesync, the only thing that i would have liked it to do would be to backup MMS which it doesn't have the option for as far as i can see, but apart from that you can backup your txt, contacts, call history and even send txt directly from your computer once its connected to you phone.
Yeah, I noted that it doesn't (can't? or won't?) back up MMS messages, possibly because of the non-standard way in which the XDAs create them (I noticed that the actual MMs composition software is third party, maybe that's got something to do with it...) Aside from that, I'm absolutely happy with the software. The ability to send text messages straight from my PC while my phone's docked is VERY cool
ok problem solved.. a friend of mine is writing a brilliant program that can export the sms's on the device without a pc. basically already working ok, just needs some polishing 8)
Tell him I'd love to beta test it for him, if he needs testers!
Hi,
Just bought a XP1 and I want to copy my text messages from my old mobile (Samsung U600) to the Xperia.
I've been trying for a few weeks now but it's just not working so I thought why not ask the experts!
Anybody know any way or any program that can help me do this!!
thanks!!!
you could try the microsoft sync program... i dont remember if it syncs the sms too...
no it doesn't.
do google search or search in this forum, for this little utility program called "PIMBackup". select backup of your messages (if you just want SMS, make sure you set just text messages instead of all messages which include email, etc) and make sure you select your storage card as the backup path.
thanks for the quick help.
But PIMBackup works on the Xperia but I'm trying to copy the textmessages from my Samsung to the Xperia.
Any thoughts?
Doesn't Samsung have a software (like nokia pc suite) that could export all your messages?
Also, look if there's any option on your Samsung that may save your messages on the memory card of the Samsung (if it has a memory slot).
why don't you use Microsoft MyPhone, it's in open beta and you can use it to sync text messages from one WM phone to another...

my bad, I thought you have a samsung winmo phone, but it sounds like you have a samsung phone running on symbian?
if so, your next best bet might be to sync to your outlook using jeyo.
Thanks for the tips..
Gonna try them tomorrow. Right now I only have a mac computer to work on.

Is there an alternative for getting exchange and activesync work on ANY samsung device like on aosp?
Somehow Samsungs implementation of activesync don't work with IBM Lotus Notes. Normally this is fixed by swapping with the right apk's from any aosp rom, but Im not going to root my phone this time around.
I also dont want to use and buy soft like TouchDown I just want my mail and calendars to sync like on every other Android I ever had.
Any tips?
Is it somehow possible to have exchange2.apk and email2.apk in userspace/data?
Thanks in advance!

+1. Works great.
Thanks guys. I didn't feel like paying for migrating a bunch of texts so decided to start clean. Had transfered my media already.
Thanks for your help!
I just got the Galaxy S8+ and this device is stunning.
I transferred my WhatsApp chats and media files from my old iPhone to new Samsung Galaxy S8+ by following these instructions. You need to pay $19 If you want to transfer more than 20 chats from a single contact in one shot, but unfortunately I couldn't find any free tool/app that can transfer my Whatsapp chats to my Galaxy S8. Thankfully, it didn't ask me to root my device and the whole process was quite easy.

On iPhone, WhatsApp back up the chats in iCloud, no Google Drive.
In fact, cross platform chat backup restores are not possible.

Dude. I asked to Google the term Backuptrans.
It is a cross platform whatsapp transfer application.

I completely agree. Samsung does provide Smart Switch which you can use to transfer your important stuff like contacts, text messages, photos, etc. If your WhatsApp conversations are so much important for you then I guess you can use third-party tools ( http://www.iphone-to-pc.com/transfer-whatsapp-messages-media-files-iphone-to-samsung-galaxy-s8.html ) to transfer WhatsApp chat history from iPhone to your Samsung Galaxy S8. Most of them are paid. Personally, I delete my WhatsApp/WeChat chat history on a regular basis so I don't really care if I can migrate my chat history or not.
Cross-platform WhatsApp chat history transfer is not complicated with the help of third-party tool.
Recommend your try this software to transfer WhatsApp content from iPhone to Samsung Galaxy S8.
Whatsapp has a build in backupfunction with google accounts, right? Should work cross platforms
I found that WhatsApp messages and media can transfer by email. But it is only allowed to get the text WhatsApp messages instead of showing them in WhatsApp chats. Finally, I use the FORecovery WhatsApp Transfer tool to help me, which supports to transfer WhatsApp messages between different devices. Maybe it can do a favor for you as well.
Hey
I was looking for a simple way to import all my WhatsApp data from iPhone to the new oneplus 5 and just can't find something. Does anyone knows how I can do that ?
Thanks !

I am not an iPhone user, so what i say is only theory.
If you backup on icloud and the file/folder structure for the backup is the same as is on android, you could just paste the whatsapp directory into your root android folder and then install whatsapp.
Alternatively, if you have access to the whatsapp folder you could just copy that to your computer and then move it to the oneplus 5.
On Android phones , to migrate whatsapp i simply copy the whatsapp folder after making a current backup on the source phone, moving it to the destination phone and then install whatsapp. it is able to restore all data and media.
Good luck!

Have a look on the comments in there - it's a scam. They tell you to backup to iCloud then delete(!!!!) the app on iPhone (==removing all messages fro the phone) and then magically they say that the android phone will be able to get the backup from iCloud.
In reality they want you to buy the product because it is capable of restoring the messages somehow(which you just deleted them)

thanks, didn't read the comments.
the whole whatsapp iphone to android thing seems to be complicated in general as of reddit. The reddit post/comments show a few solutions though.
Use Wazzap Migrator. I used it like 4-5 years ago when I switched from iOS to Android. Works like a charm.
Code:
https://www.wazzapmigrator.com"
Used iBackup Viewer to extract the ChatStorage.sqlite file from an iPhone Backup I made and Wazzapmigrator to restore it on my phone, did cost me like 3 bucks but worked really well!
Updating that I used wazzzap migrator. I needed to create an iTunes backup then find a software which can extract data from the backup file (this the hard part) . The wazzzap worked like charm (very easy) though cost a few worth-the-money $ for chats and media as well.

ANSWER:
1. Log in and back up your data to Google Drive
2. Download the file from the apple account.
3. Rename the file to match the backup on the google drive account and upload it and "Over Write" it.
4. Re-sync your whats app.
** Just my 2cents.

Dear, you just need a tool of whatsapp transfer like Doctor Telephone iPhone Data Recovery, it has a option which can help you to resolve this problem. Good luck
I've never tried to do this but can't you just set up the in-app backup and let it backup to Whatsapp servers? Then one you install WhatsApp on the new device it should ask you to restore all backup data.
in short, whatsapp is crap. Use telegram instead with smarter people
Yeah, transfer data between iOS and Android is usually difficult for us. Luckily this dr.fone can help to transfer WhatsApp chat history from iPhone to Andorid, including the OnePlus 5.

Hi, up to now it is impossible to transfer whatsapp between iphone and android unless you use some third party software such as wazzapmigrator, dr fone whatsapp for whatsapp, itransor for whatsapp, etc. These software applications can let you transfer whatsapp messages from iphone to android but they are paid software. If you want to know how to operate specifically, you can search a post via google by typing "techtiertips whatsapp from iphone to android"
