982v roms? - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Browsed through and didn't see any roms capable for the 982v model. It's unlocked but doubt that helps figures it's just Verizon being Verizon but is there any for me?

That's because there's no root for the 928v the bootloader is locked tight just like the ATT variant

[Q] truth about the bootloader

I've read elsewhere that the new S4 bootloader has locked.
Can someone verify this?
How does it affect the usage of the device?(i.e CM,AOSP etc)
So far only on the AT&T and Verizon models.
They'll have root for now but no custom recovery/roms.

I just want to know a bit more about it...I've got the I9505 model, which is definately not AT&T or Verizon.
But it's not confirmed yet, isn't it?

The AT&T and Verizon bootloader is locked, which will restrict flashing roms and kernels but not root for those devices until the bootloader is unlocked. The international versions seem to be not locked so that does apply to all the octa versions.

short story: the international isn't the carriers are
effect on dev gives them a extra work to do

Is there any simple way to find out whether is locked or not?

There isn't sadly. People were saying if you boot into download mode and it said Write Protection: Enabled that the bootloader was locked, as is the case for atnt and verizon, but the it says the same thing for sprint and our bootloader does not seem to be locked- it's a bit more complicated to actually know and I don't have the tech knowledge to explain it as well as someone else probably could. Probably should find others with your exact phone in the forum and just read what they have said cause this has been a huge topic over the last few days that everyone has been asking.

So far only the dev edition, but we can keep hope alive.

I hope so, I had a bad reaction coming from my note 2 to s4, upon finding out the bootloader was locked (after mkd)
Though safestrap has kept me sane. Cant live with verizon bloatware. I'm considering the g3 though

No. The Verizon N3 has a locked bootloader. Means you can only install Touchwiz based ROMs.
Only the Developer Edition can install AOSP ROMs.

Have a rooted SM-G900V on Android 5.0 ... Need better kernel

I come from rooted HTC phones, and need some help. Samsung Verizon version seems particular. I am looking for better or best battery life, in comparison to my current kernel. Please see screenshots. Thanks!
As far as I know you can't flash custom kernels on the G900V, sorry :/

Verizon versions have locked bootloaders, no way to install custom recovery, so too bad.

Before telling other people to do research before posting - why not take some of your own advice

It's been unlocked as a proof of concept as part of private research, that is not released and for the masses its still locked.

Yeah... Nice try there, the hypocrisy....

can you flash custom kernels?

is it possible to flash a custom kernel on the s5 even though it has a locked bootloader? i was looking online and saw that some people were able to do it with other phones but they said it varies on the phone itself and the kernel

No, it won't work on our Verizon/At&T model. It will work with t-mobile and sprint and Verizon Dev edition. Dev had banned the project so everyone is moving on to ktoonsez's kernel, which again worked on everything except for our Verizon 900V model. Bottom line, you can't flash a custom kernel onto a locked bootloader. We have many variation of model S5, make sure you are looking at Verizon (SM-900V) and AT&T (SM-G900A) which have locked bootloader.

If you want to unlock you need to get a T-Mobile LG as their usually always unlockable.

LG v20 is unlocked and rooted. Haven't really followed anything else to give more information.

is it in the stores yet to play with?
Good luck with AT&T unlocking their bootloaders. We had AT&T up until recently and it was always a pipe dream to get an unlocked bootloader. Buy an unlocked model or get the TMobile version.
