Lg v10 has got a secondary screen for it. We've got 'sweet shiny edge screens(not one, two)' I think developers wont care modding the ''v10's tiny screen which wont fit on ours'' imo

AT&T G2 Screen and Screen Color

I just got my G2 from BestBuy for AT&T, And holding it right up to my Optimus G Pro like going to the Menu or something white its such a bright pretty WHITE, but on the G2 its kinda warm white and its terrible! Compaired to my G Pro. Anyone else?
Also you know when you push real hard on an screen how it makes well hard to explain dont know what its called but I dont have to put much pressure on the screen and its like im putting a ton of pressure on it to make it do that.
Noticed the same things. Compared to my nexus4 the white is muuuuuch more warm/brownish on the g2.
Its one of those things that only really bugs me when i hold them side by side but hopefully a custom kernel down the road will help sort this out.

Well if this tint does not go away by tommrow back to Best Buy Goes the G2..
Run around to a couple stores and compare, maybe just some have the warmer tone, and some cold. That's a common issue with most phones and for the first time I don't really seem to mind. I much prefer warm to cold screens.

I wish I could do that, Closest 2 AT&T Stores are about an Hour Away! And they only had demo phones, I had to go to best buy which is also an hour away directly across from one of the AT&T stores Or I`d just go swap it out.
OP, are you gonna remove the 'AT&T' from the notification bar and change the ugly 4G logos like you did for the Optimus G Pro?
please say yes

Looks like the screen has some variences. Here is a great first impressions video of the Korean version where the screen is slightly cold/blue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=JV4ATKeVmKc#t=529

i didn't try yet..but when you root and install trickster mod, right out of the box there's color calibration..i guess the kernel supports it?
I went and exchanged it, It still a tad warm colour, But the redish warm tint is not in this one like my first one
Time to Root after my shower and do some Build.Prop tweaks to turn remove the stupid AT&T software mods

if you figure out what to change to get rid of content adapative brightness (that thing where the screen always dims and gets brighter based on whats on the screen, even wtih auto brightness off) tell me please.
i've already uninstalled the content adaptive brightness app built in, rebooted, and it STILL does it..

Yellow tint on screen

I have the Verizon LG g3 and when I compared it to my LG g2, on white backgrounds the g3 screen is clearly more yellow or warm compared to the g2. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Do you think it's worth to try to exchange it for a New one?
Sent from my LG G3
The G2 was actually too blue, as are most phones. True white is slightly creamy to most eyes. Most people are used to white being Titanium Dioxide white they use to colour plastics, cosmetics and ceramics, but that is actually blue.
However the G3 is a bit too yellow, it may fade over time, sometimes it does. I rooted mine and adjusted the screen temp a bit.
The screen on mine is too yellowish for my taste, will get an exchange device tomorrow, if this one will be as yellowish, I will return it immediately and go for another device.
I don't care if the G2's screen is too bluish or whatever, I really liked it's display, but the G3 screen is to dimm and "warm"

Could you post which app/setting you did this with?
I loved the "cool" display of the G2. That G2 is still my favorite phone. Even having the G3, I miss it. Still my favorite display also (color and temp wise).

Just got the replacement, sadly it's display is even more yellowish, so it will go back too the next days, will get a used G2 instead and wait what this year will bring on.
Really sad because I really like the G3, but can't stand the display...

I used Trickster MOD and set the colours to 238,238,255. Its still a little a warmer than my G2, but its no longer beige! Slightly yellow is right for whites, but my G3 was almost brown!
Now I just need to fix the back light, its too dark on auto.

Really sad that people are too used to wrongfully calibrated screens. I even rant to LG with straightly opposite demand a while back http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2299888 and seems like they listened and made a right decision to calibrate G3 perfectly. Their OG Pro had too blueish display around 8000K with almost green yellows, my eyes were bleeding
Not too sad I guess, as white on the G3 looks like there is a yellow screen protector on the screen...
Next thing is that the yellow screen in combination with its low contrast just looks awful.
But everyone has a different taste, so it will look nice for a lot of people, but not for me...
And by the way, why is it so many twin threads around here? Wasn't it better to discuss pro and cons of G3 display in the already existed and full of comments thread as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2782251 ? I think it would be more proper and lead to more constructive way of discussion

[Q] G2 Screen Darkness

Been having the G2 fo a little while and I love it. Th only thing is that the screen isn't as dark as my G2. For example I use my phone as a night clocc. With the G Flex the screen looks basically off except for the time but on the G2 it looks like a dark grey. Anything thing I could do to get it just as dark as my G Flex

uneven screen backlight...anyone?

Hi guys,
Anyone else notice any uneven screen backlighting? I read forums on the v20, and when reading back text on white background - while scrolling down to read more text I notice dark shades on the screen. I downloaded screen test and lo and behold...dark patch on my screen! I then sent it back to LG and assured me that they replaced the screen module and tested it and all 'voltage' was normal - BUT, dark shades were still present albeit in a different spot!
Can someone here please confirm if this is a normal thing for LG screen as I realise it is LCD backlit and not OLED hence a few bleeding / inconsistency of backlight would be present. Even though I have never experienced this on ANY of my HTC's which were all LCD screens.
cheers guys! sorry for the long post!
Yes, i have it too! H910 variant. Two dark/dim spots that run horizontal from edge to edge. Can be more noticeable/annoying in landscape view than portrait actually.
Exchanged one brand new H910 for another. Same problem. Both manufactured 12/16. Havent had this on any other LG Ive owned (RS988 G5, D850 G3, P930 Nitro HD) or Moto for that matter. Pretty bummed to have this in an $830 USD device.
Edit...seems like the issue can be excaberated by different viewing angles. Also, totally anecdotal, but i looked at my display at a stoplight (wearing polarized shades) and i noticed the screen looked unaffected by the shades compared to other LCDs (cars TFT nav screen, an eIPS tablet, etc) that i have in the car. Wonder if what we are seeing is some type of side effect from a polarizing filter, or maybe lack of, used with this display/panel?
Or, maybe these things are edge-lit and LG used an uneven arrangement of emitters. Not really sure.
Good call...I do think it may be the backlight being edge lit! which could only mean (maybe) the backlight has failed at some spots or LG engineers mis-formulated where to put the lighting. it is very sad to hear that this may not be an isolated problem.
I did however sent it back for repair and the technician advice of a NEW LCD module/screen fitted. was sent back to me the same day!! WOW! BUT...same problem but it a different spot.
If this keeps going I may have to consider a new device altogether!
Then im starting to hear crackling on both earpiece and speakers....but thats a different thread!
arrgg...
I began to notice this on my v20 that I bought at the end of December, at first I thought it was just viewing angle or I messed up the screen. However my mom just got a v20 and hers' has the exact same problem in nearly the same spot. I should add that my phone is an LS997 that is completely stock. Also @D0NZ which screen test application did you use to see the problem better?
I used an app called full screen test...its free and simple. I then took a photo of it with my old htc m8 then sent it to lg for review.
The V10s have this as well. Something to do with the backlight and 2nd screen. Kind of got used to it on my V10. Was hoping that would have been addressed with the build of the V20.

I think so. On the V10 it was really noticeable when the main screen went into immersive mode and the 2nd screen went off.

this to me is a deal breaker! I read a lot on my phone, tis why I got a large screen! If this is the 'norm' for a flagship...
I pretty much think its unacceptable. They produce their own screens and cant get a flagship right? hmm...which phone to replace it with now that is available locally (for me that is down under)
So here are some pics I sent LG originally!

Looking at your grey screen, those bands/dim areas are in the exact same locations on my device (and my prior V20)! It must be inherent to this panel. You said the bands/dim locations changed after LG swapped screens/devices for you though?
Either way, it is a bummer. I'm still undecided if I should return mine as well, or just live with it. Almost every recent device has some quirk to live with it seems. I recently traded a Samsung Galaxy S7 that had a beautiful AMOLED display, but the device picked up scratches (on the display *and* body) like I've never seen before. I even took a look over at the dark side (Apple), and they seem to be catching flak for overheating and camera problems in some iPhone 7 devices. Sigh.
I have it on one corner pretty bad, is this because of the IPS screen and how the frame of the phone is pressing on it?

I think its to do with backlight distribution tbh. Ive had a number of HTC's and NONE of them had backlight distribution issues. Im now wondering IF a 3rd party screen module would be better than the original LG produced? OR...if this is an isolated issue only on some devices. My device was manufactured Nov 2016. Maybe a later produced model has better screens? Anyone with a newer produced V20 care to share?
I think its the placement of the 2nd screen backlight. Ill try to find the thread. Someone with a V10 explained it last year.

Here is the post I remember from the V10 forums that seem to make the most sense regarding backlight being uneven.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64236798&postcount=45
Both my replacement V20 and original V20 have uneven screen backlighting (at least the replacement has a better back cover mechanism). There is a dark spot in the middle of the status bar on white (or lighter) screens. What is weirder is that it is the exact same pattern and location as the first one. It is present in both stock and LOS. I suppose I'll just wait around a year and warranty it out then because I just want to start using the phone. I included an image for people that were curious how it looked.
^
I think I can live with that...as in...the dim sections are on the edge of the screen. Mine was in the middle of the screen which i cannot stand!
I have sent the replaced screen NOT to LG but to the place where I bought it.
They said that the repairer that LG told me to send it to was the last on their system as 'reliable'. The store said that they will deal with the repairer and LG. I kind of hope the worst happens and they just offer me a refund or a total replacement - but I doubt that would happen!
UPDATE: so i sent it back to jb hifi, on the report, they can replicate the issue. On the repairers report - they couldnt
SO i get it back with all the 'test' that they have done on it being to manufacturer's specs.
Which i think now...was never good to begin with
Too bad i cant unsee what i can see...sux...I wonder if AMOLEDs have these issues? Anyone care to elaborate?
I have this issue with my LG V20 -- only when viewing photos
I have this issue with my LG V20 -- only when viewing photos - see photos -- screen has two long bright lines.
See attached photos - lines are not on the photos themselves --it is just in the backlighting -- and the lines are not there when viewing websites or if testing the screen with an test app. Please cut ans paste links to see photos - remove blank area after http -- I can't post links till I have 10 posts on this site - if any kind poster could repost so others can see them that would be great!

I have the same issue below secondary screen. Only noticeable on white background. Doesn't ruin reading books, it's there, but minor. I have dual sim variant. I'd be very upset if I paid launching price. All those things you only find out when you get the device.

Will screen burn in be an issue like on the G5?

Being a big LG fan and owning numerous LG phones over the years, I think I join the community when I say the G5 was a flop. I enjoyed the phone over the last year, but it had many quirks that should not exist for a flagship phone. One of those quirks being screen burn in. I feel it started about the 7 month mark and is only getting worse. What worries me is that the new G6, which I very much looked forward to, has the SAME screen!!!! Isn't burn in just going to be an issue on that phone as well or is there more to burn in that maybe I am aware of such as phone temp, heat dissipation and so on?
LCD shouldn't burn in.
Are you sure you don't have a fault with the display on the G5?
I have read about it in multiple forums. Its possible its a fault in the display, but its not just mine.

It`s not burn in, it`s image retention
I have the same issue. Hoping it's not same for the G6.
I was have same problem on g3, g4 and now on g5. I change screen (g5) but same problem
Screen is "same" so i think problem will be on g6
I had a Nexus 5 for 2 years and never had image retention.
I deliberately avoid amoled, so the last half a dozen or more phones I've had are LCD (some of which the display will have been made by LG if not the phone) and never had image retention.
Even my Sony TV has an LG panel.
The last good LG phone was G2, others had burn in issue, I'm pretty sure that G6 will have it.
I know that the technical name isn't burn in but ir looks the same and happens to every LG G3,4,5,V10,20 soon or later.
PS: I was a big LG fan due G2 but got disappointed.
I had "always on" turned on, on my g6
can confirm the clock has burnt in
