Although my phone can see the MicroSD and so can ES File Explorer etc., when I try to go into it in TWRP it won't let me and it shows storage as 0mb. Has anyone else come across this problem, and if so do you have a fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you...
Edit: I am also using it as portable store, not internal storage on Marshmallow 6.0.

Have you tried flashing a different recovery?
Hey,
This morning I tried to install OTA android update like an idiot just how you'd do it on a non-rooted phone.
Now if I try to boot up my phone it'll go on normally for under a minute and then power off and enter the TWRP menu.
What do?

Yes, as I said I'm probably retarded for doing that. I know absolutely nothing about rooting/flashing/all this stuff.

Nope, I'm an absolute retard as stated above. Had no idea that updating happens differently if rooted.

Probably being retarded again, but how can I get the downloaded .zip into the TWRP Backups folder? My PC can't access the phone's storage when it's off/in recovery.

keep it on your external SDard>>twrp>>backup . then insert to phone ...go to twrp>restore from sdcard.
there is also OTG support in twrp you can connect your USB drive to restore.

TWRP doesn't seem to recognize the file; nothing shows up in Restore -> from sdcard (also when I browse the directories in Install sdcard -> TWRP -> Backup is empty)
I moved the ZIP file downloaded from step 2. of http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/general/rom-xt1563-brasil-stock-6-0-twrp-t3272979.
What am I doing wrong?

Found the problem, which was that I didn't create a sub-folder named as my serial number as the guide didn't mention that. I think I got everything working now, thanks a ton for the help!

thanks for the solution. I didn't know that. I generally copy the whole backup folder and while placing backups from external source I place it inside my serial number folder.
So i updated to CM13 Marshmallow 6.0.1. It has the new sd card thing, but the problem is that recovery can't see any zip files! Is it because my recovery is too old? Please help

Hey there,
So I take you formatted the sdcard as internal?
If that is the case then it might be caused by the fact that the sdcard is now encrypted.
I think the newer TWRP version (3.0.0) can read the encrypted sdcard.

Update what? Recovery can be flashed with a PC, with an app or with the actual recovery.

Yes. Or with an app called Flashify.
But flashing a newer version of the recovery is not guaranteed to work.
You might have to format your sdcard as portable again.

This is a general thread to introduce a version of Lineage OS with MicroG instead of Gapps, made for the Stallmanites who has an onyx device.
Download link: https://download.lineage.microg.org/onyx/
More info on : https://lineage.microg.org/
If possible someone could contact the specific maintainer and create a DevDb thread cos this rom deserves a spot
Did you manage to install latest lineage-14.1-20171213-microG-onyx.zip ?
It doesn't boot after install and the md5 doesn't seem to be right..

Yeah, the rom is just like the normal Lineage OS but without gapps. nothing to sacrifice bricking your device over

I wiped all - except internal memory because of the files and photos that are there, and the twrp version is latest 3.2.0

Yes I wiped everything except storage. And TWRP is 3.1.0.0
Will try with the latest TWRP tomorrow
So how does this work? I do understand its an open implementation of few core Google services. Will I be able to install apps from play store? From an end user's perspective, what changes will I see compared to a regular custom ROM?
Latest zip (lineage-14.1-20171222-microG-onyx.zip) boots fine.. solid build
