Not like that. Actually as for now MiUI 7 not based on 5.1, its still based on 4.4.4 kitkat. But there is a lot of changes comparing both MiUI 6 and 7.

I updated via OTA last night, Android 8.1.0 and security patch November 2018, version T580XXU4CRJ9 - T580OXA4CRJ9. I have the SM-T580 DBT code. Everything seems to work fine and there has been no loss of user data in the update.
Is anyone working on a port for this since we now have the Android 10 beta?
