I saw this video where a S6 Edge+ user was able to invoke a AUTO RESTART feature under BACKUP AND RESET in settings - however I do not have this feature on my AT&T stock ROM. Anyone else have this feature or is it missing in the American market?

it was my fav features on kitkat that we can set auto turn on and off by schedule even manage auto sync email etc.that features would make the battery life last longer without loosing any informations that we need such twitter, bbm, whatsapp etc.more efficient.so many apps had provide that features even without rooting required.but since on lollipop that features has gone, like really2 protected by Google.it was mention that on LP we don't allow to automatically switching data connection even when your phone have root access.here is some app called "Auto connection" they has been told that their app no longer supported on LP:
What's New
Due to a limitation introduced in the new version of Android is no longer possible to stop the connection on Android 5 (Lollipop).
my question,is there any ways to make this features back on lollipop with rooted and xposed?please someone make it happen
Guys, Please let me know ur opinions or answers for below mentioned queries.
1)Is it possible to enable face detection in ported n5 gallery(people tagging)?
2)Is it posible to increase call log numbers storage to be set to unlimited(currently limited to 500). I use Superbackup to backup the calllogs and it always show the number 500.
3)which file is responsible for dialler in ported roms? I have to switch only dialler from one rom to another(both are ported n5 roms).
4)Will the new always on feature ported to note 4(i guess it is software thing and is practical for amoled plus screen since only few pixels were litted), missing that feature from symbian days
5)Does anyone tried appsharing feature in dual boot between a AOSP and touchwiz rom? Is it possible to share call log, contacts and sms between dual roms(ie., data should be at common place and both roms should be able to access same set of data so that even in case of rom switch data wont be missed)
6)will we ever able to set Custom shutter speed in note 4 camera? using ported apps or mods?
7)Which is the best firewall solution for note 4?
8)100$ VR Gear which has official compatibility with Note 5 and s6 will support note 4? If yes only on stock rom or ported roms are fine?
Will add some more questions which i cannot remember now!
Hi,
I installed the MyaROM S7 port from HTC mania on my note 4 (N910F), love the rom only problem is the fingerprint scanner doesn't work it does say this in the Rom description, just wondering if there's a way I could enable it like is there a file I could flash that would get it working?
Also another feature that isn't there is the handwriting mode on the Samsung keyboard no option to automatically switch to it when I pull the S-pen out either. While it isn't a massive deal as I don't often use the S-pen to type it's nice to have if I do decide to use it so is there a way I could get that feature maybe install the note 5 keyboard somehow?
You have to use a Samsung stock rom to have those features, unless there's a custom rom out there that I'm not aware of that have these features
Hi,
It has been a while since I have been able to play with custom ROMs as my previous phone was not well supported.
I have just now switched over to the Axon 7 and have just started setting it up as my daily driver. I Installed NucleaROM with LIGHT PATCH, Open GApps and ARISE Sound System. All seems to be working fine but I have one issue and I think it may be a feature from not just the Custom ROM of choice but the underlying source (ResurrectionROM/LineageOS).
When I first setup the phone, it had an option on the lock screen to customize how apps are closed (i believe the term was Smart Close) when the device is idle and the screen is off. I remember looking through it and having options for which apps are closed and which are to remain running.
Since then I have installed a collection of apps, one of which is the Garmin Connect which I need to run when the screen is off.
I am unable to find how to get to these options now. I have looked through the power options and cannot see it.
If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for your assistance.
As I have started to use the phone a little more I have noticed that this is having another effect.
It seems to be closing my keyboard app so every time I unlock it goes back to the stock keyboard and I need to select SwiftKey again.
I hope someone knows where these settings are.
I have found a workaround for now, but if anyone knows how to control the SmartBattery application, it would be greatly appreciated.
I believe this function is coming from the System App called Smart Battery. I have gone into Settings -> Apps then selected the menu to show system apps. From there I was able to locate the SmartBattery app and disable it.
This seems to be working for me as by Garmin Fitness tracker was losing BlueTooth to the phone before but not now with that app disabled.
I'm not entirely positive about this, as I've never heard of that app. At first, I thought you were talking about the screen lock cleaning feature from the power manager on stock. After your follow up post indicating you had actually found reference to the app on your system and a bit of Googling, I was able to find some reference to it. Nothing useful, I'm afraid.
Try using an app that can launch activities, like Nova Launcher or Tasker. Try to find the app in the list, and see if you can launch it by calling for one of its activities.
P.S., if you're running RR, if you have a look at the extended settings, there might be a way to set the nav keys long-press action to a custom activity. Remember to enable the app, otherwise it might not show up in any lists.
Hi everyone! I just picked up an unlocked US version S8 (SM-G950U1) and I know we're waiting on root for it, so there are annoying things I can't customize the way I want to yet (eg, disabling "peek" / heads up notifications while still allowing the notification to make a sound) and now I just noticed after taking a series of photos that my Gallery no longer seems to have the row of thumbnail images displayed below the current image I'm viewing. I use this all the time to quickly toggle between similar images and pick my favorite(s) / select some of them for mass deletion as I scroll through them.
I have Gallery on an S5 running Android 4.4.2 and Gallery 1.0.73 on a Note Edge running on Android 6.0.1, and they both have the row of thumbnails below the current image, by default. Screenshots from both phones attached, as examples. I tried to install the older versions of Gallery from those two phones onto my S8, but of course they're not compatible with nougat, so I got an error and nothing installed.
I can't find a setting on my S8 anywhere (as part of Gallery settings or not) to re-enable the feature. Anyone have any thoughts? This is with Gallery version 5.3.05.301 and Android version 7.0 (build AQE3). Other helpful ideas including ways to force this functionality via adb (or someday, once we can root?!) and other gallery apps that DO offer this functionality would also be gratefully received
There are enough annoying things with this phone that I'm seriously considering returning it. Please convince me otherwise!
