You can start with this.

Unfortunately i found Amplify to be of very limited effectiveness with this phone. There is a ton of system processes and alarms not mentioned or documented in the thread linked above, and the DayDream thing causes few but EXTREMELY long wakelocks (we are talking HOURS of time with below 100 triggers). Oh i tried doing it manually by observing the logged alarms and wakelocks and restricting them as seemed safe to do so, but what are you going to do about *ALARM*????
I would advise to grab a marshmallow rom and naptime instead, you don't have to change any settings and it saves your idle battery by itself. Finally, i recommend Xposed+Gravitybox and using the mobile network auto feature to decrease connectivity to 2G when the screen is off.
EDIT:
For the record, i tried plane mode through a night just so i could see the minimal possible drain, and it is some percent for 8 hours. You will not achieve 0.0% per hour with this phone.

i get 0.3% drain per hour with these settings. i left the phone around 4:30am at 91% and at 10:30am it was at 89%. i had switched off data.
everything at 240 except
*vibrator*=300
RILJ=350

You cannot achieve 0% battery drain with any phones anyways, according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9777867#post9777867

Got 1 percent battery drain in about 9 hours on airplane mode and wifi off.
Without any extra modifications

That's the problem with these type of guides. They're all dated. So many wake locks & alarms aren't mentioned in the guide.

Same here. I followed the tutorial above and I did not notice any changes. Around 2% drain for 7-8 hours, idle with no data or wifi ( BetterBatteryStats show 0.3 per hour )

Screen Battery Usage When Off?

I am trying my best to figure out how I can squeeze extra battery out of the phone. I used to get 3-4 hours of 'screen on' time out of my Galaxy Nexus and now I usually less than 2h with best battery still being less than 3h and that's only when I am around wifi almost all day.
Anyway, in my attempts to identify the drain I obviously saw a lot of the same things other people did: constant wake locks and I know there are threads for that.
However, I have noticed something I do not know the answer to: GSAM reports that my battery uses roughly the same % of battery when the screen is off as when it is on. What the heck? I don't get how my screen uses ANY battery when it is off. Does anyone know why this is reported like this?

I've tried using it but it does not seem to work well for me. I set a custom ref. when I woke up and the battery was at 100% and it seemed to work for a bit but when I checked it 3 hours later after travelling to campus and attending class and it showed no data at all regardless of when I selected it to show me data from (since unplugged, since charged, since custom ref.) Does it not work with stock kernel?
In the mean time, GSAM is providing some good information at least for an initial diagnosis.
Are you implying that it is not correct in telling me that of the 31% of battery used by the screen 17% is discharged while off and 14% while on? It says: Discharge while on/off: 14% / 17%

Device must be rooted so BBS can work. Try going in advance and check alarms (root needed) SUPERSU will popup and ask for permission. Don't forget to refresh time to time whenever you open it to get latest numbers.

SM-N9005 4.4.2 Battery Issue

hoping to get some help...
i have update my SM-N9005 from 4.3 to 4.4.2 through Odin. rooted. with CWM Recovery.
tried probably 3 custom ROM that support 4.4.2 and end up on the Official leaked.Build 4.4.2 ( rooted)
the battery performance is driving me crazy.
on 4.3 stand By mode i used to loose 0.8 per hour now with the same setting same features turned on. i loose 2.3 percent per hour.
on 4.3 screen time with the lowest Brightness i lost 1 percent every 10 minutes. now i loose 3% with same brightness level. 3 percent every 10 minutes.
Android OS and Android System are always on top of screen in the battery Graph. i
media is also on top of the screen in the battery graph.
have tried a lot of solutions and factory reset with no luck at all. ( i have placed the device with Airplane mode with no SUCCESS )
installed a lot of battery analyzer apps did not have a clue who's eating all the Juice.....
any idea how to fix this??

Partial Wakelocks are usually caused by apps running in the foreground. There's usually not much you can do about that. If you are actually using the phone, battery will run out. What you need to find out is what happens when you are not using the phone.
Do this:
1) Charge the phone to 100%. Disconnect the cable.
2) Let the phone sit idle for 1-2 hours with screen off.
3) Get Kernel Wakelocks from Better Battery Stats.
Then you'll know what's eating your battery when you are not actually using the phone.
In my case, I get ril-fd, l2-hsic and wlan_rx_wake wakelocks the most. I know the causes, but I can't do anything about them without rooting.

I've noticed the first 10 percent (from 100 to 90) go away fast as hell. Use your phone as you would today, just make sure you have enough juice by the end of the day. Leave it as it is overnight and then post your screenshots.. You don't seem to have any wakelocks so your battery shouldn't be draining.. Mine is going like 1% for 8 hours or something, the problem starts when I turn me screen on lol!
I had this problem on my all my Samsung device
the only solution was to take out the battery for a few seconds
worked for me on

i am loosing more than1.5% per hour where on stand by mode... everything is switched of.f im surprised there is no wakelocks showing... ill wait till the end of the day.
its been 4 hour since last charge and now im on 93%..
im assuming the drain is happening due to the bad reception where i am at.
how do you manage 1% per 8 hours that's Awesome (knock on wood) .. is this with WIFI and Data on?
i don't understand ... how come i have no wakelock after screen off.. and my battery draining 1.5 % per hour on stand by mode.... and android Os always on top ?
BBM.
And I haven't done anything special, actually you have to do something to NOT get great battery life while idle. After a factory reset, nothing disabled (so G+, G search and all those wake cycles still present) with WiFi off and Mobile Data ON I lost the usual 1 to 2% per 8 hour sleep. The problem starts for me when I turn on my screen, not when it's turned off

It's caused by broadcast packets sent by other devices in your network waking the phone up. The solution is to install a custom kernel that filters such packets.

Verizon S7 Edge Battery Life Terrible

And there's nothing I can do about it. I only have a gear s2 connected at all times and wifi and mobile data off whenever possible. Before I leave to the gym battery is at 44%. After the car ride there it drops one percent. I unlock the phone, connect my powerbeats, and open youtube and there go another 5%. After a YouTube video there is 7% drain. About a 10 minute video too. Leaving the gym and hour later and I see a maybe 20% battery loss. I don't know how people with regular S7s get 4-5 hours SOT because I get only 3.5 maximum. I bought the edge looking for better battery life but it's practically no different than my S5. If anyone knows a magic trick to this, I need to know now because this is extremely annoying.
IF you got the device from an official retailer, just return and get a new replacement. Losing 7% watching a 10' video is not right even with max brightness. You can fix the standby drain by using Forcedoze (which helped reduce my standby drain by 50% to about 1% every 2 hours). 3.5 hours SOT is terrible even with max brightness. Just get a replacement please. It's not worth the time and frustration.
IF you don't have the option of getting a replacement. Forcedoze can help with the standby drain. Factory reset, set up normally (personally, I just turn off bluetooth NFC location and turn them on when needed), and hope that your terrible screen on time is software related.

Do you think it might be my location by any chance? Maybe the service in my area causes this drain. I also have gps on because of my gear s2 but I can turn that off and see what happens. GSAM tells me the in the past 30 minutes the drain rate is 15% per hour. I browsed the Internet a bit and have been using it the whole time. I'll try to also do a full battery drain test on geekbench with full brightness and see what it tells me.

It's a good possibility. I have a fairly weak signal where I am most of the day and only get about 4-5 hours of SOT. I have all radios off except WiFi and data when needed. Still with my usage I only charge every 2 to 3 days. I don't get the drain like you do from watching youtube though.
My battery life also sucks. I barely use my phone during the day and it almost dead when I go to sleep. Most of the day I am connected to wifi between my work or home. My old htc m8 one could last 40 hours. I think part of the problem is because I do not have root on this phone. I kind of regret switching because I cannot get root. I cannot use applications to adjust cpu or control my wifi, data and to turn off apps from starting automatically. I think tonight I am going to try and calibrate my battery.
I had horrible battery life after taking the 2 OTAs. BetterBatteryStats would not report the device going into deep sleep at all and I was losing about 10% per hour on standby. I did a Factory Data Reset and all the problems cleared away. BBS is reporting deep sleep after about 5 minutes of the display going dark. I have Wifi, data, Bluetooth, and high-accuracy Location services turned on at all times. I lose about 2.5% per hour now with AOD turned on on standby.
Guess my advice would be to due a FDR after every OTA....
Guys, I had terrible battery life when I first got the phone. Off the charger at 6am, under 20% by 5pm... Follow my steps below and I bet your battery will do a 180 and be very nice. Mine gets me 35-40+ hours on a charge.
Disable the bloat apps you don't want in app manager.
Turn off Google usage and diagnostics reporting for the Google app, and if you use the Google keyboard, there too. This and the next one were the biggest improvements by far.
Turn off Samsung "Send Security Reports," and in the same place, turn off auto-update Samsung security updates.
Turn off device/Bluetooth/WiFi scanning.
Set keep WiFi on during sleep to while charging.
In permissions, I turned off location for any app I didn't think needed it. I went from 30+ to about 15. If an app requires location to work, you will get a popup warning when disabling location for it.
Lastly, I did a Restrict Background Data on several apps I didn't think needed it.
My phone started dozing and the battery drain dropped way out.
I keep AOD and Bluetooth on at all times and connected to my smartwatch all day, and my car about an hours a day.
Hope this helps! Apparently out of the box the S7/Edge battery life is terrible...

I installed forcedoze and did the adb non-root command and now my phone's battery is holding up better. I think the phone was just sleeping.
It's ridiculous one has to do all this to get closer to acceptable battery life.
Google and SEC should be ashamed of themselves!
It's not just VZW devices either. AT&T are just as bad.
I've given up on trying to get acceptable standby drain and just let the device live on a wireless charger.

Phone held awake too long

I'm on full stock . My last boot time is around 52 hours for some reason gsam battery monitor has my phone as held awake for almost 8 hours of which 3 were sot and around 2 was doze . I'm using greenify with aggressive doze and a lot of apps greenified . Is this normal ? There is no app wasting battery in battery tab . Only thing not normal is a media server process which run for 27 minutes total
Your device is being held awake nearly 100% of the time (look at Held Awake and then add Screen On time).
This is not normal... In my bone stock device Held Awake time is typically 1 hour for every 5-6 hours of screen off time.
I would suggest installing Wakelock Detector and seeing what is actually keeping the device from sleeping.

This varies a lot based on signal strength... the SD808 is pretty battery friendly with great signal, but poor signal will drain the battery quite quickly, nothing you can really do about it.

Something is requesting your network (rough) location via Wifi and Mobile Network, and Google Services is trying to do it but can't because you are in airplane mode... It's a misbehaving app that doesn't acknowledge airplane mode, very hard to find when it's so intermittent.

From the time you go to sleep til you wake up, assuming at least 5 hours or more, I would think no less than 95%. I typically hit around 97-99% depending if I wake up and check the time or snooze my alarm a few times. But I use amplify and Greenify along with various other tweaks (I.e, no WiFi, mobile data, or auto sync) maximize battery.
This is what I got... But I am stock and not rooted.

battery Life - SoT question

Hi,
In the last few weeks i have been trying debug why my battery SoT is so low. Reading some threads here i see users with a SoT of 5-6 hours, while mine cannot get past the 3-4h tops.
I already tried everything in the "book", like clean flash Oreo and Nougat, flash KDZ (Oreo and nougat as well), rooted, non-rooted, block wakelocks, disable secondary apps and services... Almost everything i can think of... but still, only can tops at 4 hours SoT max.
I am tring to debug if this could be something that some varients or production batchs may have - maybe a battery less powerfull?- like what happend with the camera sensor.
So, my usage: mostly social networks only - Instagram, Facebook, etc. No vĂdeo play, no games, 90% of time in Wifi... i see users that most of the time play videos - more intensive that social network apps - and have 6 hours SoT!
For any LG G6 user, what are your usage and SoT?
Thanks!
Make sure you switch data off when using WiFi, as the phone still pings towers when data is on, which eats a bit of battery. Make sure to go through app and block background data use in each app. I use naptime from playstore which puts phone into sleep very quick. I easily get 6 to 7 SoT and about 70 odd hours between charges, but i have WiFi set to off when phone sleeps.

Thanks for the info.
I use ForceDoze, is almost the same and i see a improve in the SoT - but is just a little to be honest.
Indeed, i have the WiFi always on (almost 100% of the time i only use wifi), but i have data disabled during that time.
Every single app that i can have the background data use disable, i have it disable
but will the Wifi use such high usage? Normaly he doesn't have such a huge impact in the battery... (i have the sanning options disable also BTW).
Also, your app usage is more of what - social, games, email, etc? (just to know and compare )
Maybe install better battery stats app to see what is using the battery. No, WiFi shouldn't affect battery that much, must say that i also activate do not disturb between 11pm and 6am.

Click to collapse
That is the point.
I have installed, and the only wakelocks that i see most of the time are the "WifiOffDelayIfNotUsed", what appears to be using a LOT of wakelocks... But i also disable that using Wakeblock and didn't solve the issue.
The second one is LGFaceGlaceService, that i think is to the facial recognition in unlocking the device...
I checked and don't have that wakelog listed at all, maybe that's the problem. I don't use face unlock or AOD. But even now i have 2:47 SoT and 28 hours since last charge and phone is on 62% battery left.

5-6 hours SOT on WiFi, 4 hours on Data, one sim card version on Oreo.
I have a similar issue, currently running oreo with root and melina kernal and twrp, flashing kdz and going back to stock changed nothing. Although flashing fulmics gave me much better SoT and Idle Time
