has anyone had a problem with pressing the power button and the screen not waking up?
screen comes on after 10 or 20 seconds after keep pressing the button to try to wake it up.

Its kernel issue IMO. Solved long time ago with newer versions of kernels.

It is fixed with december update I guess, which my phone did not get yet. (928C still on november build)

Unspecified Problems?

Okay, because I don't have 10 posts I can't post in the Android Development section yet. Okay, I've have blnkks (sp?) ICS rom for about a week now. Today I was using the Kindle in study hall at school, playing glow hockey. I locked the screen, cleaned it because it was full of fingerprints, and then unlocked it. After I unlocked it, the screen went weird. Every time I press the power button, nothing happens. The screen isn't fully off, because I can see a faint purpleish tone, which tells me the screen it on. It's not bricked, because it didn't freeze in a boot cycle. Any idea? I have TWRP 2.0 and I do have a recent backup, if need be.
Have you tried holding the button down for >20 seconds? Eventually it should turn off if you do that. Then hit the power button again and it should start up normally.

[Q] Kindle Fire wont turn on after flashing Energy ROM 3.15

The title says it all. I did a back up and flashed the rom. It worked well after the first boot but the Google apps was FC so I reboot to flash the gapps file. However, after shut down the kindle it just wont turn on. When I press the power button the green light appears for 3 seconds and it off again. What can I do ?
Edit: Now when I press the power button nothing happen :|
maybe charging it with the wall charger for some hours ...
Try holding down in the power button for like 20 seconds them turn on

I had this issue and thought I toasted it, negative.
Check to see if screen is still lit, if so tap power, screen should turn off. Wait about a minute then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
By that time should still be off, then after you let it go tap the power and should boot right up.
Not sure whats causing this but a minor glitch in the matrix, no biggie. Still very much useable after install of gapps.

Thanks I was able to turn it back one after a few tries
It seems this rom doesn't actually shut down. When I select the shutdown option the back light remains on and I have to force it off with the 20 button press.

[Q] Any way to turn the screen on via the volume rocker?

So I think there might be something wrong with the power button, when it does work it has a 5 second lag between pressing it and when the lock screen pops up. However, there have been several times where I'm going to bring it out of sleep mode and it doesn't wake up - so I press and hold the power button for a few seconds and nothing. When I press it again it vibrates and boots up normally. So what I think is happening is I'm actually turning it off, thinking that it's having issues with the SOD, and then turning it back on again. But no matter how many times I just simply press the power button it still won't bring up the lock screen out of sleep. So is there some way I can turn it on via the volume rocker?
Thanks in advanced.

That is the sleep of death. No on the volume without special programming.
Well, the only thing that made me think it was otherwise was the battery stats - it shows that the tablet has been awake the whole time it's been in SOD...

That is what I have found, it is still running. That is why you have to monkey with the power button, the first long press shuts it off even tho it looks to be off. After it is shut down, then it will turn back on. Their are some ics roms that this is fixed in. I used to have the sod, but the rom I am using don't have that problem and I have had that problem with all roms, sept ics.

Power button issue, when purchased.

Just got the N7 for the wife to test out, she notices when the screen is off for a while in sleep mode, and she hits the power button to wake it up it does not wake up right away, she sometimes has to do it 2 or 3 times, or it won't wake at all and then she has to hold the power button down, then when it wakes up, she has to back out to get out of powering down. Is this normal.
So since I have not a FR because I thought it might be the recent update to 4.1.1 that created this issue or a rogue app that I installed. now the power button won't do a thing, the only way to wake the unit up, is to plug in the charger, any suggestions before I take it back to the store today. TIA

How to wake the screen? Yes, i said it there, I have to hold the power button until the screen with Power Off or Reset appears and cancel it in order to wake back the black screen.
How to fix the problem of the screen suddenly dying? No, i have no idea why it happens either, i guess it is a bug that Samsung has to fix
I posted a thread about this a couple weeks ago...it randomly happened, and since then now happens once a day. I have to completely restart the phone with the volume down/power button in order to reboot. Do all of you use the AOD? My thought was that it maybe had something to do with that. I only have the home button set up on mine.
