yup normal..happened to me also....but not noticeable. plastic frames usually gets scratched easily. my phone was in the cover the whole time. but somehow it got scratched below the power and volume buttons.

It's not especially rugged material, no.

Maybe because according to reviews, it is metal..... http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/moto-x-play-1300372/review

Haha, calm down Guys!
Any more owner has this "problem"?

Again... I asked, asked a question. Hence the question mark after it. How that means I 'corrected' him in your mind I'll never know. Also, I asked the question as I believe it is metal. And reviews have since proven me correct anyway.
Whereas you just accused me of lying and now correcting someone.... Both of which I didn't do. But given how reactionary you seem mostly here I expect nothing less than total inaccuracy from you.

Yes its a good phone for the asking price.
But if you are a gaming freak and want absolute smoothness, then it may not be for you.
For pretty much everything normal use, it's a great device.

I guess redmi note 3 pro is gonna launch soon in India. If you want a stock experience and great battery backup, it's right choice.
Other than that you have to weigh each device's pros and cons, then decide what you want from a phone and then zero on the perfect phone for you.

Never heard of redmi note 3. Why are you waiting if you want a phone with a big battery. The moto x play runs smooth, its easy to root and the display looks great. I dont think you have much choice if you want a phone with a big battery in this price range.

Ooh, i dont know what moto x play you guys bought, but mine has a metal frame. It feels a bit cold for being plastic and all review sites are also talking about a metal frame and not plastic.

Talk about superb protection
Couldn't decide between the Green and silver but now glad I went for the silver
Sent from my GT-N8010 using XDA Premium HD app
Nice. Still waiting for this case to be available here in Manila. Does the back cover add any extra thickness over the original back cover? I remember the case for the Note 1 added a bit of extra thickness in the back.
This thread is likely to be closed, there is a flip-cover thread in accessories.
btw, I am waiting for Orange or Blue to get in stock in the UK.
I'm glad you like it OP but personally I'm not a big fan of it. I bought the same flip case when I had my S3 and at first I loved it cause its really stylish and makes the whole device look nice but my issue with it is every time you wanna access the screen you have to flip the case and it gets really annoying after awhile. Plus when you fold it to the side the top and bottom attachment become more loose. Just my opinion but a lot of people out there like it, I hope you do too.

It sure adds a little thickness, but nothing you will feel. But the camera is recessed so the chrome wont be scratched as easily as with the original cover, which I think is a good think.

phone insurance is for idiots?
you pay a 4.99$ monthly fee then when you need a phone replacement, you must pay 199$ deductible!
why even bother with insurance, it costs the same to replace the cracked screen without insurance.

Nexus 4 back not sparkling?

The back of my Nexus 4 is not sparkling AT ALL. When you look in the light you can see the individual dots but there is no sparkle, they are all the same muted color hidden beneath the glass. Anyone else having this problem?
androidcentral (dot) com/another-new-wave-nexus-4s-shipping
That's exactly what it looks like, no sparkle, no nothing.
I got this today in the second wave of Nexus 4 coming in.
this thread is probably going to get locked, but it has to catch the light just right for it to "sparkle"

Why would it be locked? Because of my external links for pictures since they thought it might be spam?
Well anyways it doesn't. I've looked for a good minute in the out side light but i got nothing.
And i have to wait five minutes between posts...
God this forum has a lot of anti-spam, first the captcha to sign up and then another to post a comment and you can't link or post often.

Well the picture is showed by that thread that i provided on another site but okay I guess.
As you can see you saw the dots but they aren't different colors and don't sparkle. The second picture is in the sunlight.
I have the same "issue" as TC, it doesn't sparkle like in the videos or pictures I've seen. The effect is very weak but perhaps it does require strong light like sun rays.

It does require strong light at the right angles to "sparkle." I'm sure still having the glass protection on doesn't help either.

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
No, it's a good thing you posted pictures. It is definitely because you still have the factory plastic on the back. It really, really dulls the effect. I had the same disappointment when I first got my N4. I was actually going to post a topic about it but then my full body protector arrived and I peeled off the factory protector and applied the new one and now it sparkles beautifully. Peel that plastic off and then report back.
LOL he got a replacement phone anyway? you can just keep your charger, then you have 2! 2 usb cables are nice for a usb car charger or something
anyway, if your phone is flawless, you might be better off cancelling that replacement because what if your new phone has issues? You are unable to send the new phone back because then you will be charged again. Always that fear... then you'll have to deal with another RMA but this time you have a faulty phone in your hands.
also remove that plastic on the back as suggested.

I have to say, I've been delightfully impressed by HTC this time around. Not only did they make a great piece of hardware, they also didn't make it too much of a pain to customize it software size it. Between HTC Dev and not having to manually flash a boot.img through fastboot, I'm definitely pleased with my phone. The ONLY let down I have is a couple of dead pixels on my rear camera. Then again, I'm not one to take many pictures!

Here's a picture of a white bed sheet. Notice the small black dot. That is the cluster if dead pixels. It isn't too noticeable, but it drives my OCD crazy. The ONLY reason I don't return it for a replacement is that I'll most likely end up with an even more faulty device than the one I currently have.

This is really strange. I've also never heard of this. Some DSLR's can have "stuck" pixels in their sensor. Most Canon's have what they call a "Manual Sensor Cleaning" in their menu options to help alleviate that issue.
I would imagine it's simply a defect in the sensor itself - thus not being able to capture that group of pixels. In all honesty, I would send it back. But that's just me, I wouldn't be able to live with that.
My device battery went faulty right in the middle of my vacation, but I don't think I will change to SG4 for any reason. This phone rocks.

Why? Why take the chance of returning it and receiving a device in worst conditions just because of a nano spec on the lens or screen? You can't even see it unless you search for it. That would be ridiculous. He's device is in great conditions besides that one spec that you cant even see.

I see your point of view and I understand. However, I guess some of us just don't want to settle for something that does have a flaw... even if it is that small.
Granted, I will admit some of these guys around here get a little carried away... like the guy that returned his device 8 times. I would have given up after 3 personally.
I paid $650 for my One. And replaced iPhone 5. For that kind of money I'd expect everything to work and be pristine. That's from my point of view.

Build quality

My note has a loose speaker grill on the right. I was wondering if anyone else has this issue or others.
The only questionable thing I have, which may be normal, is the infrared port. It protrudes about a millimeter or so from the top edge. Is this normal?

The grills on both sides should be steady without any movement possible. Well i don't have a loose right speaker grill nor any other flaws on the device

It shouldn't, but this is Samsung we're talking about. A number of users already confirmed that they're having the same issue on multiple threads. I'm guessing this is happening because of the S Pen slot. It shouldn't be doing that, but we're used to Samsung doing this.
Yes. Fixed it right up with some silicone sealant.

Good news Bad news
The Bad news is I am not the only one that has a tablet with this issue. The Good news is there are PERKS to be gained if you have you to exchange. If you know what I mean
Samsung, like any manufacturer has issues, I think you will find the QC at Samsung is among the best. I wonder too, is the first thing some people do when getting something is look for defects? I mean, yeah, if they pop up while using it, then you go from there, but I like to actually use and enjoy my device first
As for the issue, my right speaker grille does have a VERY TINY bit of play if you tap it, it's not noticeable in normal use and will NOT affect anything important. A user fixed it easily, so if it is bothersome, you can always do what he did.

I dont have patience for QC issues, if I spend my hard earned money I want it close to perfect or its going back. There is no way I would ever fix their mistakes.

You will never find perfection, not in anything made my the hands of man anyway. There is not one company out there that puts out 100% perfect products, not one.
It's the price of being an early adopter Computer manufacturers make all kinds of revisions, heck the early LCDs had ghosting. These days though almost everything feels like beta.

The only questionable thing I have, which may be normal, is the infrared port. It protrudes about a millimeter or so from the top edge. Is this normal?

Any phone is fragile, people are really just not careful with their belongings... Just take care of it and I guarantee itll last you until your next phone!
Get a case Waiting for my spigen to arrive. In the meantime I'm handling it with much care lol. Haven't remove the protective films on the side and the back yet. Don't wanna scratch the new toy now.

Same here. Protective films on the side and back are still intact, on top of that I'm using QuickWindow
Me too using a quick window and a screen-guard. I dropped it few times from 1.5m height. Landed on the back, bounced turned around, opened the quick window cover, hit the front and slide around 1m or little bit more on tiles.
So glad I had a protector, or the case that it mattered. Once it popped out of the case. But that was about it.
I should also note. IT WAS THE QUICK WINDOW CASE FAULT that it dropped in the first place... I am not sure who design these things.
But my hands are not build to hold it... I still didn't figure out a way of holding it and using it properly.....

To answer the question. No its not too fragile. Its an average phone in that department in my experience. Everything depends on the luck of the drop and protective measures if any.
I've developed the habit of hooking one of my fingers into the window case so that in the event that it slips, I'll still be grabbing it by the window. Worked so far for me!

I dont think it's fragile at all, or it's at least as strong as it needs to be for me. The 2nd day I got my G2, my daughter got a hold of it and dropped it from about her waist level onto tile. (she's only 2 and 1/2 btw) Just a very minor nick was left on the corner but it's not noticable unless pointed out.
I have since purchaced this case from amazon LINK. And a couple days after I recieved it, the G2 accidentally went for a ride on the trunk of a friends car. It was face down so the rubberized texture surrounding the screen held it there for a few miles before it slid off. I used the android devce manager online to track it down and when I found it a couple houses down from another friends house, the phone was in the same condition. Granted, this is more of a testiment to how strong the case is, the phone probably slid off at around 45mph.
Lol the car ride..
I want to upgrade my phone it seems like the g2 has the best processor out now, u guys can recommend anything over the g2?

Me personally. Maybe I would wait for the Z1S if I was in need of something new. Just personal opinion.

Nah.. the Z1 is inferior and the display sucks just too much. Very bad viewing angels ... That's why I said Z1S amazing performance in a much smaller package that we are used to from high-end.. at least according the leaks etc...
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
Yea the smaller one but it hasn't been announced for release yet... Z1 would be good enough for me with beast cam (crap software) and same chip..... G2 30$ on amazon hard to pass lol just hate the button design and mp3 on the bottom, also no SD makes it really limited and 'uncomfortable'...
I dropped my 4 days old g2 on a concrete floor from around 1.5m, landed on it's corner, the screen and the digitizer cracked, have to wait 2-4 weeks to get a replacement -_-

Wow, that sucks. Sorry dude.
I carried mine w/out a case for a week. It made me nervous. The thin bezel on this phone makes a case a must IMO. But, it's a great phone
and it feels solid once I got the corners protected.

For me, it was either the g2, note 3 or z1. The screen to bezel ratio and carrier availability is what won me over in comparison to the z1. And too many people had the note 3 in my area. One of my pet peeves is having the same device as everyone else. Especially when they know nothing about the tech world. Lol. So far in my area i havent run across another with the g2.
I couldnt be any more happy with the hardware performance and the UI so far. This is the first device ive ever owned in which I dont see a need for a custom rom or tweeks so far for what i use it for.
I went with the s4 for a couple months I'll have another upgrade in my account and will get something else and give s4 to my mom....
I passed the g2 cuz its battery is locked in, no SD expansion, and the terrible button design on the back which I don't like....
