Is it possible to flash stock ROM from another region without tripping knox or warranty at all? Will i get OTA updates for the new region? I would like to have ROM with the latest updates, because mine had last update in october.
Which ROM do you suggest?
Should i backup anything from my original ROM first or it does not matter?

Flashing stock or custom roms from any region will trip knox.
Flashing roms will also disable OTA
Updates as well.
Backing up is always a good idea...
Judging by your questions I would strongly recommend that you do a lot of reading and research here in xda before you flash anything.
Good luck,
Happy New Years.

Anyone tried flashing a stock rom after raising the Knox void flag?
I read somewhere, someone saying that its not possible to flash a stock rom after the flag activating....
If it is possible, do we lose OTA functionality?
Thanks

I'm wondering the same thing...I don't care about the warranty but if I sell the phone after the one year Samsung warranty is up I would like to be able to put it back to a state where the next owner will receive OTA updates.

Cool, so in regards to flashing back to stock, were you able to flash any (csc/region) stock rom or were you limited to your own csc that came with the phone.

I am in Hong Kong, there are no restirctions
I bought my Note 3 on the 2nd of October, rooted it right out of the box and I have been using ever since. It had always been of Stock ECT Nigerian ROM N900XXUBMI5, for my country. No issues at all.
Just today, i decided to upgrade my ROM to a different Stock, but this time Russia, XXUCMJ6 because it had a bigger changelist.
What i did was,
Backups,
Nandroid,
Flash new ROM in ODIN, No wipes!
But by the time i got into download mode to Root using CF-Root, i found out dat I had a new line in Download mode indicating 'Warranty bit = 1'
Now, I don't think this can be fixed readily, but I am guessing...
I can't flash back to my Older Nigerian Stock Firmware. Yes?
Also, my Nandroid won't do me any good right?
I am currently Rooted with custom recovery on the Russian ROM, it's working pretty good and I love the new black keyboard. But off course, can't stop thinking about the Warranty thing.
As because here in Africa, Warranty replaces the Screen and Motherboard for FREE twice in a 2 year period. Cheers!
Dear l Wanna enjoy My phone with the option of Rooting so
In my opinion enjoy till the developers come out with a solution for the warranty issue... Cheers

you can actually get back your warranty by simply flashing back your pre installed stock rom via odin....
work only on sm n9005 and sm900

is it true?
can anyone confirm this?
hi guys have an s4 in the uk im bored of stock touchwiz an want to install a custom rom. can i do this even tho its locked to 3? or do i have to unlock 1st? or does it not matter cheers guys?
Yes you can, you can change officially via Odin or install custom recovery and flash whatever rom you desire. I got my S4 back last year on o2 then flashed the BTU (unbranded UK version straight away) and now run the Google Edition rom. However I am on the bootloader and can flash whatever I wish without tripping KNOX but only via CWM.
What current firmware are you on?
im on three locked. firmware is the new 4.3 software.
so do i just root an flash cwm and im ok or?
Be aware as you have a KNOX bootloader installing recovery will trip this and you can't reverse it.

so what does this mean?
KNOX when tripped can cause issues with warranty. Now as we live in the UK we have warranty covered for 2 years by the EU. But it's like a warranty flag they could use that against you and not fix any issues, it will also disable KNOX which is a security feature but more for commercial rather than personal and it you will not be able to downgrade your firmware.

hmm so basically if i do this put a custom rom on then decide against it and want to go back to my stock rom or any other rom i wont be able to?
You'll be able to go back to whatever stock rom you were originally on or higher. I suggest looking in the android development section for the pre rooted roms, I think there are ways to flash a custom rooted rom without recovery without tripping the knox flag.

ahh so its better if i just flash a pre rooted rom then?
so u think its better if i dont flash any recoverys but then how do i flash the rom over odin or?
Phone: N910 C
Baseband: COJ5
Current Custom Rom: Electron Team Ditto Note 5
Ready to flash stock ROM version: N910CXXU2COJ5_N910CPNT2COJ1_PNT
Kindly let me know if anyone knows whether I can receive official OTA updates after flashing STOCK ROM.
Yes. After flashing stock ROM you will receive official OTA updates, that's a known thing by now
OK, but when I use TWRP with stock rom, can I still get official updates or it says "modified"?

As far as I know, no, as you have modified the recovery. Once you modify, you should always assume you are off the update path. I prefer not to blindly take OEM updates anyway.

as long as u have everything stock it will receive OTA with no problems. i flash to stock rom today and found out that my stock recovery mode saying DM verity verification failed.. let me knw if yours have it too.. cant find a fix for it
i thought as soon as knox was tripped thats the end of OTA updates

as far as i know, if you flash stock unrooted firmware your device status in settings >about will go back to official from custom (when u were rooted) and u will be able to take OTA.

KNOX will void warranty and prevent you from using KNOX apps. At least in Europe, Samsung can be forced to still repair the device if the damages can be proven to have nothing to do with root.
Got my S4 repaired twice, both times with KNOX tripped in the UK.
As long your device status is official in settings.
Hi guys!
My dad has been using the above mentioned device for the past 5.5 years. The device is running a stock rooted 4.2.2 MDJ build. His bank is about to stop the support for the 4.2.2 version so we need to update the OS. The minimum required OS is now KitKat but I would like a more moderate ROM. Is it possible to have for e.g. an Oreo based ROM without Knox? In other words, do some ROMs include a Knox bootloader (to enable them to run)?
Thanks for the help!
Only Samsung ROMs would contain Knox.
The apps should be fine with a stock 5.01 ROM if you want to stick with stock.
If you want to run a custom Oreo ROM, I suggest flashing the latest bootloader and modem before installing Oreo.

As I said I would like to evade to flash the Knox bootloader. I know Samsung made it impossible to use their OS without Knox so I'm guessing my only option is to use custom ROMs. Are there any ROMs that still utilise the old bootloader?
You can't flash any bootloader other than stock.
Knox will not interfere with flashing custom ROMs.
Some banking apps will not work with a rooted ROM so you may have to use another app to hide root.

Root is in place just to disable OTA and by the looks of it the banking app doesn't care.
Regarding Knox, I actually think of it as a security downgrade because the NSA played a part in its development and they are known to spy on people. I feel safer when it's not installed LMAO
Is the phone an sgh-i337m or sgh-i337?
The sgh-i337 was made for at&t.

It's the SGH-I337M. Canadian model. CSC is TLS (Telus)
Okay, just wanted to make sure it wasn't the att model because the 4.3 or newer bootloader is locked on the non-m version.
Anybody have any suggestions for a ROM? It doesn't necessarily need to be the latest version of Android. It just needs to be compatible with the old bootloader
If you're still on MDJ stay on MDJ, don't update your bootloader, only the modem. 4.3 don't have KNOX, just don't update from OTA.

Don't worry. I won't I am just looking for an at least 4.4 ROM without Knox
AFAIK Knox is on the 4.3 build
Here are a few pics if some of you still don't believe me
