Is it just me or does this phone has a slow camera on snapchat? Every time I tried to take a video on snapchat, it seems to be laggy and slow. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Anyone else getting a "Can't play video" error when trying to replay a slow mo video through Google Photos? Been awhile since I have rewatched the videos, but I am sure it was fine before this months update.
The video itself will play just not in slow mo, and it seems to be 1.5x - 2x faster as well.
Same issue here. Got my phone yesterday so I can't comment on the updates.

Guessing it's this latest December patch that caused it then.
Same problem here. The camera app says "Can't play video" and Google Photos says "Video not found", even though it's playing right underneath the error message.
Same here
Same here... I received the phone late December and the 6.0.1 was already ready to download. I am glad it worked before so I know it's probably software and not hardware related.
It's probably the Photos app

I had 3 slow motion videos that were doing this initially but I just looked in my photos app and played them just fine. It's a little choppy though still... No error message anymore, however.
Ok, so it all started with B183 update, I've immediately noticed that chrome scrolling and app switching while on chrome, was super laggy.
To confirm that, i tried playing Tekken 6 on ppsspp emulator, which is super CPU intensive, and it barely played it!!! as opposed to before, which was rocking 60 fps with no issues.
My theory is that Huawei implanted some new throttling mechanism, or maybe tweaked the kernel too much and ****ed up some basic settings that they overlooked, if anyone can test how web browsing, mainly on chrome works on new updates, that would be great, but the PPSSPP testing is the best, so far i found out that B181 is the latest and greatest firmware.

im on b183 too how to rollback to b181?
I must admit I've had some 'phone becomes unresponsive/random reboot' issues with both B187 and B188 so far unfortunately
Haven't specifically noticed any Chrome issues but will keep testing.
Yea, every update seems worse and worse. I will test emulator and tekken on 138 decembar 2016 security patch and report back...

Make a video if you can when it stutters, i have B181 now and don't want to update, but we somehow gotta make Huweai aware of that.

Hmmm..... I am on B182. I think I have been experiencing the glitches as well
Playback video too longer than usual to play and at times freezes along side.
Gallery at times slow when flipping through pictures
Apps crashes and you have to run again...
I think it will be the firmware. It make me feel like the fone is not fast.

Indeed, on B181 the phone flies through everything like it should be, on B183 and forward, it crawls on a lot of tasks... make a video if possible, we need to make sure Huawei aware of that, or we might never update our phones again.
Im on c636b188 and the camera bug is gone.
At first the lag was still present, but after a factory reset, aparently is gone, games are performing great again

I did it with 187 and it didn't help, well keep on testing.
On B188 here.
Initial boot after update took a long time, but after that no issue at all.

Updated from b183 to b188 noticed apps frequently crashes. The lag was gone though.
I have B190 waiting in the wings. New device, coming from Honor 5x. I am on 182 and don't really have any issues to report of yet. I will wait to see if others have any issues with 190 before updating.

C432B190 worked fine for me, nothing to complain about.
Yup, on C432B183 right now. I will update later today as I need to make a back up first. Thanks for the input!
Both 183 and 188 smooth here
Good to go here, no issues on anything....

Hey!
I recently got a s8, and im in love I really am, but im very very worried because it lags in snapchat a bit and while opening facebook messenger heads. I'm just wondering if there is possible that something is wrong with my device or this is all normal.

Hi! I have noticed the same problems with my s8, and as you said its mostly on snapchat and messenger. Are you running them while the power saving mode is turned on? I noticed that apps like these lag on power saving mode for me.

I think there will be a software update to fix it, because on Android O the s8 is almost as fast as the note 8... and Android O is still in beta.

It depends on the carrier. If you dindn't get a notification asking to update that means you have not gotten the update yet. I'd wait a few more days or even weeks and the update should be out for everyone. :good:

Same thing. And I know 3 more people having the same issue. I tried on my old s7 and I had no problem.
I had the same issue with slow motion stuttering with Oreo. Before the update everything was normal.
But I updated Oreo with Odin. After trying every possible option on the phone, I gave up and rolled back to Nougat. No stuttering at all.
Did you waited for the update to come itself or did you flashed Oreo with Odin?

There is a youtuve link explaining full process how to downgrade.

Maybe there is a solution for the stuttering. Someone one reddit said that changing the resolution of the display to the lowest settings HD+ fixed the stuttering problem. When I read the comment I updated to Oreo just to see if thats the solution. Well strangely for me at that display resolution HD+ stuttering was even more profound, but when I changed to WQHD+ there was no stuttering at all 0_o . Today I am going to test more with this resolution and report back again, to be sure 100 percent if display resolution is the solution.

Same problem. I tried hd+. Notting changed.
It is too frustrating!
I had the same problem, and found an actual solution that works (and makes sense) for me. My camera app was set to save to SD card so I changed it to internal storage and slow Mo stopped skipping. I guess it didn't have fast enough write speeds?
Hope this helps someone else.
the slow motion has been fixed by samsung on the new CRD7 update for april on my galaxy s8, previously changing resolution and file save location doesnt fixed the slow motion stuttering but now its fine.
Are you still facing this issue or it was fixed already?
I am on crg1 build from july and still have frame dropping on slowmo.

Its pretty minor, but enough to bother me, I think majority of people won't notice it. But it definitely drops frames more often.
Maybe nevermind, looks like phone fixed itself after few reboots.

Still lags everywhere, after unlocking the animation drops frames, in Apps, literally everywhere. Does anyone have the same issue ? I read that few people have it also on official nothing discord. Does anyone know how to downgrade ? It pretty unbearable.
Force 120 HZ everytime from developer options might help
I'm on 1.1.2 and all is really so smooth, fast, and i'm only at 90hz for everything.
I think you have app/settings causing your lags (Launcher, Modules ?)
I advise to you factory reset your phone in 1.1.2 instead of searching downgrade to a useless 1.1.0, it's a non sense thing especially when a device is new and will again received a lot of OTA update soon.
