Followed the steps to unlock bootoader and root. When I try to enter into recovery I keep on getting no command on the screen . Does that mean phone is not rooted ..
Mean you still on stock recovery.

Not really sure what happened, a while ago I had an issue with a game and restored my tablet back to factory settings to fix it, but now I discover that while trying to boot into recovery mode it's not there?
I'm trying to manually install the Android 4.4 Kitkat update, got sick of waiting for the OTA since I haven't gotten it yet and really want to use 4.4, but while trying to go into recovery mode to check everything is working because I'm paranoid like that and while I was successful into booting to the bootloader, trying to go into recovery mode resulted in seeing the little android guy with the red triangle saying no command underneath it, so I'm assuming somehow my recovery is missing?
I then tried to flash stock recovery onto my tablet using the Nexus 7 Toolkit and it told me there was an error in flashing the files and that it was because my device's bootloader was locked.
All I want to do is update to Android 4.4, but how am I supposed to do that when I can't boot into recovery? I've followed all the right steps to do it, did I do something wrong by locking my bootloader and unrooting my device?

Hi, JohnathanKatz...
Unrooting isn't the issue... it's locking the bootloader that's the problem.
If the bootloader of your device is locked, you won't be able to flash anything.
I don't use toolkits myself, but it's pretty straightforward to flash a recovery (stock or custom) using the fastboot tool...
* Unlock the bootloader with fastboot oem unlock
* Fastboot flash the recovery with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
(...where 'recovery.img' is the name of the recovery image file to be fastboot flashed.)
Maybe there is an option in your toolkit that will unlock the bootloader again... however you do it (toolkit or fastboot), you MUST have an unlocked bootloader before you can flash a recovery.

Hi guys, I actually encountered this problem a minute ago when I attempt to flash a new version of TWRP recovery on my grouper. Whenever I go to the recovery, it just shows 'No command' with a red alert of Android on it (I started to panic when I found that there's an unusual error that prevents me from entering the recovery and this is the first time that I saw this error on my flashaholic experience *btw my previous recovery was CWM) I'm currently on stock 4.4.2 with an unlocked bootloader. I have no idea what problem is causing to display that issue when attempting to enter recovery but then I left it for like 5-10mins while it's displaying that error and after that the device reboots then it just quickly enter TWRP recovery normally as is :silly: sick of that haha, silly ol grouper jesus -_-
EDIT
After entering recovery, I got stuck forever on bootloader and recovery! whenever I reboot, I always get directly enter to the recovery and it forces me to not to enter the ROM oh my god at least I can still configure the recovery so I can backup and flash another ROM :|
I don't want lost my warranty and for many others reasons, i don't want unlock my bootloader. I see many people saying "you want root with a locked bootloader ? Unlock your bootloader !" To this people, i say "no". Why i would take the risk to cancel my warranty for that ? Many devices with a locked bootloader will be upgraded to lollipop. So this is my question, any chances to get root with a locked bootloader ?
Here And then go here
And in any case, it can be done, depending on what state your tablet is currently in.
I'm on Lollipop, rooted and still with a locked bootloader.
If you're already on Lollipop without a custom recovery, you may be out of luck or will just have to wait.
If you've got a custom recovery, or are still on KitKat, it can be done. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2945044
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using XDA Free mobile app
I was so ecstatic when I got the tablet, I ran the OTA to Lollipop before using towelroot.
I followed the steps using adb
The tools they provide using the root method through; pushing recovery.img from bootloader, etc. Worked well
I was really amazed how fast I upgraded, before I knew it, towelroot said "device is not supported" I about wined.
On lollipop (from immediately upgrading from Kitkat), and have root using the adb method
-to unlock bootloader (oem unlock)
-push recovery.img (provided in link)
-install the lastest SU from the recovery (CWM v6)
reboot
The steps to re-enable bootloader lock is simple
adb oem unlock
If anyone would like assistance I would be happy to help.
Hi,
I have an Elephone S7 4g Helio X25, with stock android 7.1.1 ROM and i want to root it.
The problem is that i have tried many things but still not able to do anything.
-tried "fastboot unlock bootloader" the phone asks for confirmation and when i press volume up, nothing happens
-tried to flash twrp via sp flash tool but when i power up the phone with volume up it boots normally, not in twrp so i think twrp was not installed
-tried many questionable apps like kingroot, towelroot
Please help me i have no idea of what i can do
okay i was able to unlock bootloader
in this post, someone said that instead of volume up we have to press home button to confirm oem unlock. It worked.
when oem is unlocked i only have twrp working. but i want to have a rooted phone, with twrp and stock rom rooted
is it possible to unlock bootloader, flash twrp, and then flash stock rom with superuser ?
I've been using custom ROMs for a while on my A2017G but decided to get back to stock. Before doing all the bootloader unlocking/rooting etc I backed up my original firmware (Nougat, B09). So I reinstalled the original firmware that I had backed up but somehow lost TWRP in the process (the bootloader is still unlocked). I then used Axon 7 Toolkit to re-install TWRP. Unfortunately I cannot get to bootloader mode through Android Recovery as it reboots normally. Axon 7 toolkit gives me the following notice 'If your device rebooted normally then your device has no access to fastboot. Follow the miflash instructions for the bootloader unlock option to restore your device's fastboot mode'. The thing is the phone is bootloader unlocked so I don't need to unlock again.
Basically, I cannot install TWRP through bootloader mode. I also tried adb-fastboot tool from my Pc but same thing happens, phone reboots normally.
What I really wanted is bring back the phone to full stock, including re-locking the bootloader.
I also want to have the bootloader re-locked again before selling the phone.
Any help/ suggestions much appreciated.
Good lord, don't use the Q&A mode for a simple question. XDA Labs opens it on a browser window
Follow Controllerboy's guide, but only the part where he installs TWRP with axon7tool. After that, boot into TWRP and follow raystef66's guide on how to get rid of the 5 seconds screen. That'll give you fastboot. Then flash a full stock system, stock recovery, and you'll probably be safe enough to relock
But I'd ask the next owner if he/sge actually cared on having the bootloader unlocked. Relocking it is risky as $hit you know.
Sorry, am kind of new and was not sure which way to post my comment. Thank you for responding and the advice. I managed to install full stock, actually downgraded to Marshmallow so I can get to fastboot/bootloader mode now. Thanks again.
You can still have bootloader mode on Nougat if you follow raystef66's guide. Plus it will hide the 5 secs screen
Actually I discovered I can't get into Fastboot mode from stock marshmallow so guess it's back to nougat with raystef66's guide.
I've had an essential phone for a few months now. I just now decided to root the phone. I went through an installation guide where I have unlocked the bootloader using fastboot flashing unlock_critical and fastboot flashing unlock. My bootloader is unlocked, so I used the command to find which slot I have. I had an A slot so I followed the instructions, flashed twrp and now when TWRP boots. I have an unresponsive screen. It will not allow me to type anything.
Try booting from this twrp

There was an issue with Touch and TWRP. I also ran into this. From within TWRP, I flash the TWRP.zip and it seems to have solved the issue, though touch is still a bit off (slightly skewed to the right but manageable).
I was able to gain root fairly easy. I was following a rooting thread from another forum. Once I switched back to following a root forum from xda. I was good to go. The issue I have now is I have an OTA update waiting, but now I have root. I had an issue with touch on twrp, but I have it solved now. I'm currently running stock with root. I "might" flash LOS soon, I'm not sure...
in the event of no touch you usually need to install twrp
download the twrp zip
and do this once in twrp
adb shell
twrp sideload , it will drop back to cmd line
then you can adb sideload twrp-installer
then you should have fully functional twrp
