That depends on how bricked it is. If you can get to recovery and flash, then you can do it that way.
If you are FRP locked or can't get to recovery then you need download mode. Can you get into download mode? With the device off, try holding volume down+home and then press power. Release all when screen comes on.
If you have to recover via download mode, you need an Odin tar file. Use Odin 3.10.7. I finally found the Odin tar files for 928W8 yesterday. I also have that variant phone. I linked to the firmware HERE. I had to pay for access to downloads on that site though. It still isn't listed on sammobile..
I do have OK5 for Rogers downloaded, and have 10Mbps upload, I could upload it to Google Drive.. I think you can change the CSC, but I haven't tested.. I'm on a custom ROM, I just wanted to have an odin file in case, and also to update my modem..

If you haven't done anything with Odin, you can usually just force reboot by holding Power + Home key for a few seconds. Other than that, we'll need more details. .
Indeed, we need some more details. Also, another member said that he was able to get his to boot by manually and intentionally entering Download mode, and then using Vol-Down key to boot normally from there. Check out his post here.
i turn on my s4 and show this message
" Firmware upgrade encontered an issue, please selec recovery mode in kies & try again"

Did you do anything to your phone before you got this error? Like we're you rooted, try to install a custom recovery, install a kernel, etc. The more info you can give will help.
use kies to recovery

If what you're saying is: You had MF3 firmware and attempted to use Odin (Kies) to return to stock... then you might benefit from this thread:

Odin Not Picking Up Phone SM-G900F

I have the drivers installed. I am in download mode. I have the phone connected. Odin shows blue box and com 3. This does not let you flash a recovery. Can someone dumb down the ridiculous instructions on how to get Odin to let me flash a recovery? How come my phone is not hackable? Do not mock me or say do the research. Nothing has helped. All I am asking for is help. Nothing more.
If Odin is picking up the phone it should work. Maybe add a screenshot of the error you are getting along with what version of Odin you are using as well as the file details you are trying to flash

Which recovery are you wanting to install, if you downloaded a zip files you need to extract the .tar or .md5 file inside it
You have the Odin steps correct once connected and you have com 3 showing click the PDA button find the .tar or .md5 recovery file then click start a few moments later you phone will reboot and you have custom recovery.

Odin flash fail

Hello,
I'm new here
My problem started when my CSC got stuck on SEE after trying to go back to stock rom from XEO ROM. My original CSC is XEH. I tried to use KIES to restore it, it flashed to the newest but my CSC hasnt changed. After that I downloaded ROM from a different regoin marked as XSG and I tried to flash it with ODIN but it failed and now I'm stuck with "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue.." screen. All roms are Official. My download mode shows Secure Download: Enabled. Did I brick my phone?
Sorry for my not so perfect english
My mode is N910C with Exynos

did you put your phone in Download mode? did you unzipped the file to get the odin flashable file? go to download mode by pressing and holding volume down+home+power for 3 seconds and then let them go, if phone boots into download mode then its not bricked, you just have to download the file and unzipped, to get the Odin file, then open odin, with the phone on download mode, then click pda, search the unzipped file, and flash it, cheers

G900H. Lollipop. I used Odin with this file - CF-Auto-Root-k3g-k3gxx-smg900h.tar (the process I used for rooting). It has come out of boot sleep. When I'm trying to go into recovery mode, it gets stuck at Logo. My phone is working right now but doesn't go into recovery mode. Can you help me solve this? I want to try Marshmallow. Thanks!
make sure the MD5 hash matches, if you don't know how to hash MD5 look it up, if it fails just redownload the recovery tar because your download was corrupted

and don't use download managers

Try to flash TWRP recovery
Use ODIN to flash recovery, not some flash tool from G Play, it might have flashed the wrong version recovery
With ODIN, you do it manually, so if you flash the wrong version, it's because you didn't check it first, not because you let some random app do it for you

Hi,
Can you please refer a link which I can follow. I followed steps from a youtube video(with a good number of likes and views) which lead to this. I've zero experience in rooting and all. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Loads of guides kicking about here in the S5 forum
Basically grab TWRP 2.8.7.0 .TAR for your model S5, load it into the AP or PDA section of ODIN, put your phone in download mode (Vol down & Home & Power from a powered off state), connect phone to PC USB, make sure drivers are installed, then hit start on ODIN
It should start the flashing process, and say success once done

I tried using Odin and nothing happened. Tried using TWRP Manager. Getting this error - "Either you already have this recovery installed or another error has occured. Would you like to attempt rebooting to recovery now?"

What do you mean, nothing happened with ODIN?
Did you add the TWRP .TAR (Do not extract)?
Phone was in download mode?
Drivers were installed?
Could ODIN see the phone? Did it show the COM port at the top?

OK, a common problem
Uncheck the "Auto reboot" setting in ODIN
When it's finished flashing, unplug the phone and pull the battery out of the phone, replace it, and boot straight into recovery with vol up, Home and Power

Samsung Galaxy On5 bricked, Odin doesnt work, Kies doesnt work, any options?

The only thing I can successfully do with odin is flash the bootloader. I have the full firmware file, but whenever I try flashing anything but the bootloader, FRP Lock blocks it or it fails in odin. I know the exact reason that the phone is bricked, my OEM Unlock setting in developer settings got turned off and I have a rooted binary, so now whenever it trys to boot up, a little red message shows up in the top left for the first few seconds of boot, then the phone shuts off completely. No other thread provides any solution for my situation. Odin wont flash any firmware and I cant get into TWRP anymore as well. Does anyone know what to do? I have a replacement coming from T Mobile in a few weeks but I want to try and fix this thing.

That's for mtk devices only, and will probably brick op's device even more
Retry Kies.
In the back of phone under battery look for make name (Sould look like SM-G5xxxx) and S/N
Make copy on windows txt file
Boot phone into Download Mode but dont plug into usb yet.
Open Kies on Windows select tools, then firmware upgrade and initialization. Enter your make click ok then enter your S/N click ok. Plug phone into usb and keep clicking ok untill you see downloading firmware
