S6 Soft Bricked Bad Mboard? - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently rooted my phone but realized in order to use encryption, I had to disable superuser using the adb shell, the first time it worked no problem however I had to redo this process the only difference is that the second time the adb shell trick wasn't working for some reason, I read that I could just go to application manager and I would be able to kill/disable the superuser process so I did while I had gone into adb and typed pkill -KILL deamonsu, I go to restart my phone through the encryption process and it is now soft bricked. I tried using odin to flash stock firmware on three different computers using one original s4 chord and one unbranded s6 chord, I have used the file G925TUVU2COF8_G925TTMB2COF8_G925TUVU2COF8_HOME.tar which is 3.5g and I get stuck at write operation failed after it starts, I am hoping this error is because I need to use stock s6 fast charger, otherwise is there any hope for me, I didn't think what I did would be able to damage the motherboard as other people have said, anyway is this permanent for me? Appreciate the help.

Highly doubt you've damaged the motherboard, and doesnt seem permanent to me.
Id definitely try using a stock edge+ cable (chord), I've had issues using different cables with the phone when connecting it to the computer or quick charging.
Don't know much about the firmware you're flashing, because I havent rooted my phone yet. But from your description, it is a soft brick, and should be fixed by a odin flash.

Thanks for the reassuring remarks, I have a fast charging cable coming in the mail just in hopes for this so I will definitely post back with my results. I was hoping an oem s4 charger would work but I guess not.

I'd try my best to get a stock samsung cable. Maybe you have a friend or co-worker with note 4/5 or s6 that'd be willing to lend you their cable? If not, lets see what happens.

Sorry if a mod could move to the US S6 question forum please and thank you.
And if not the cord then what, maybe the pit file or the firmware is incorrect? What else could it be?

I got it from searching stock tmobile g925 so I would sure hope so, also the file didnt require anything to be unzipped since it was a straight tar file download, it came just like that and thats the way ive been using it, no other files needed through odin i believe

What exactly do you mean by prospective slots? AP is the only option I choose for the tar file and then I press run, should I be pressing the other buttons as well and loading the rest of the files you're talking about or do you mean just zip them then run the tar file through AP, because I need to find another download which has these files.

No that's why you have to use a tool such as winrar or winzip to unzip the tar. There's four files I'm that tar that must be placed in the slots in Odin. That is why your failing.
Once you unzip the tar you'll see the four files and then you'll place each file in its proper slot in Odin.
AP in the AP slot BL in its slot and so forth look at this pic.
So take the firmware you've downloaded and unzip it with 7zip or winrar or some other unzipping tool. Place those files in a folder then open Odin once Odin is open place the files in the corresponding slots. Press the start tab and you should be good to go.
What you're doing is an easy mistake that probably all of us has done.
As long as you can get to download mode on a these Samsung Galaxy devices they can be fixed pretty easy.
I've soft bricked hundreds of times as a tester for Roms and themes. I've also hard bricked 3 Galaxy S3 devices so it was an expensive lesson LOL
Once you get this down you'll never have to worry about a soft brick again.

Like I said once you do this a couple times it'll be habit.
I can Odin to stock in less than 5 minutes just because I've done it on multiple Sammy devices hundreds of times literally LOL.
The only way to really brick your Sammy device is flash a custom kernel or Rom not meant for a Sammy phone.
Which I've done on an S2 and S3 ahhhhh lessons learned.
OK man let me know how it goes.

Softbricked My Vibrant

Hi, I searched the forums and can't find an answer for my softbrick. I was trying to push a recovery file into system/bin after i changed recovery to recovery.bak. I clicked R/W when I pushed it, but when I looked again it was still R/O and the recovery.bin i pushed was 0.00kb (guessing it didn't go through). After, I tried booting into CWM Recovery and now I'm stuck at the Samsung Vibrant screen when you first turn on the phone.
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Thanks for any help.

Odin back to stock?
Look in the Bible.
Edit: The Vibrant Bible.
You need to get into recovery and Odin back to stock and go from there. Look for the Bible and read all of it, that saved my phone a million times. Good luck!!

First things first. You need to get to download mode so you can Odin.
If you turn her off then plug in a USB cable connected to a PC while holding both volume buttons and the yellow screen comes up, you win. Just read up on using Odin. Otherwise try a jig. I hear Irish works best.

Of course, this is never as easy as you think its gonna be -
Got to Download Mode, opened up Odin, got the .pit in, but when I get to the .tar file (that i got from here http://androidspin.com/2010/08/09/how-to-restore-or-recover-your-samsung-vibrant/ ) Odin can't find any .tar files from the JFD extract folder. They're all .rfs and an .lfs files.
Also, I searched the forums and the Bible and shiz for both the .pit and .tar and only got one hit that lead to a discontinued link.
Am I doing something wrong or are the .rfs/.lfs files correct? Can anyone lead me to a good download for the .tar? (Google and samsung.com are useless... )

2.1 is eaasier to root, just put the update.zip on the phone, go to recovery, reinstall packages and done
Here are the two files, update is the superuser, and update clockwork is recovery.
1. Put the files in the root of your phone storage.
2. reboot to (Stock) recovery
3. reinstall packages, you are rooted.
rename the update file to something else, and then rename the clockwork file update. Repeat the above steps to install Clockwork Mod Recovery
View attachment update.zip
View attachment UpdateClockwork.zip
As long as you are on JFD 2.1, and have not Kies Mini updated to Froyo yet, you should be Shiny. If you did update, I would try the modified 3eRecovery installer again.

I'm talking about the rooted and stock tar md5 exe with Odin built into the exe. One big file with Odin and the ROM packaged together. It was just about as easy as it gets for flashing roms.

You would have had to install safestrap in the first place... and seeing as how you don't know what that is, I'm guessing you didn't,
That's OK, though, if you can get into download/ odin mode you *should* be able to odin a copy of MJ7 or MJE. Try the steps listed in the guide I posted and see if that works first.

The file you need is N900VVRUBMJ7_N900VVZWMJ7_N900VVRUBMJ7_HOME.tar.md5. That is the Stock ROM that came with your phone and that is what you need to flash with Odin. You can download Odin 3.09 from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189539. Install Odin on your computer and launch the application. Boot the phone into download mode, connect your phone via your USB cable and make sure that the Com slot turns blue, it may take a second as windows might need to install the correct drivers. Click on the AP slot and browse to the TAR file you downloaded. After you load the file into the AP slot, press start. This will flash the stock firmware on to your phone, it will be just like the day you brought it home from the store. Everything will be wiped out and reinstalled. Don't be scared to do it though, it's probably the only way you will get things working correctly again. Hope it all works out for you!

Use kingo. Search for it on Google. Hook up to your pc with your USB cable. Make sure USB debugging is on. To enable USB debugging go into about phone in your settings and press build number seven times, it will open up developer options. You can enable it there. Kingo is simple, after your plugged in just press root. Theres nothing to it. Personally I would replace the superuser app that comes with kingo with the one from the play store. Open superuser and select settings, at the bottom select "switch superuser app". It will uninstall and you can install the trusted version from the play store. Enjoy.

I've used kingo multiple times on multiple devices. So have many other people here. It's a definite way to root your device and I haven't heard of one person actually having any issues. Honestly, no I'm not worried about anything.

[STOCK][ODIN][TARs][3/17/15]Latest - N910PVPU1BOB7 Stock TAR

UPDATED 3/17/15 - Added OB7 tar
I didn't see a decent link to the stock NIE/NK2/OB7 tar that wasn't on rapidgator or similar crappy site, so I uploaded it to AFH.
Required Files
N910PVPU1BOB7 tar - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934542777

How to Flash
Install Samsung USB Drivers (if you haven't already)
Unzip N910PVPU1BOB7_N910PSPT1BOB7_SPR.zip, you'll have a file called N910PVPU1BOB7_N910PSPT1BOB7_N910PVPU1BOB7_HOME.tar.md5
Unzip Odin-v3.07.zip
Right-click on Odin3-v3.07.exe > Run as Administrator
Reboot your phone into Download mode - Power off, then press and hold Power + Home + Volume Down. Press Volume Up when you see the warning screen
Click on the PDA button and pick the N910PVPU1BOB7_N910PSPT1BOB7_N910PVPU1BOB7_HOME.tar.md5 file, wait until Odin says that the MD5 was checked successfully

There's a few already, in general where these threads belong. Moving this there.

This happens on a brand spanking new Sprint note 4 right out of the box. I know this because when me and my wife got our new phones at a corporate Sprint store the sprint installer "stopped working" on first boot when they were activating our phones and turning them on for the first time. This is caused by the way they have these installer/preload apk's in the rom and the fact that the installer has to contact the network and actually download files during setup. This is NOTHING to worry about. Simply reboot your phone a second time and the sprint configuration installer will initialize and do it's thing. This is jst a little quirk but I've seen on on stock unrooted phones and rooted phones exactly the same.

Downloading now,....... Just got this device due to a insurance claim so this is a completelt new phone to me and I really want to either start or add to one specific form till we get a complete spot on the fourms.... Any way my ideal or a good ideal for us is to add everthing that is confirmed working as on today and add it to one fourm and reserve like 10 entrys for specific problems and the solutions. Or just in a easy format so everything is not so confusing till we get our device a Fourm started instead of a thread thats confusing and hard to follow.... Anyone with me???? Its a new device and we need development so bad.. im stuck in a bootloop as of now and cant find the info to help me and its so aggervating.... someone will have to maintain it of course

This does not work. I've tried it multiple times on multiple versions of Odin. This will not work if you use Boost Mobile. It either fails, hangs at flashing boot.img, or hangs at SetupConnection.

This works to get you back to stock from bootloop. I tried my hand at rooting this little SOB (TWRP,Magisk) and tripped the Knox counter bc I forgot to wipe it. Reboot came up with "Validation Failure" and I was stuck. I stumbled over this post and with nothing to lose other than $130.
First piece of advice...Use Odin 3.12.3 ONLY!! I tried the latest version and it didn't work. Download the files, place them in the appropriate boxes and flash. reboot into recovery, wipe the cache/data and you should be good. Mine took quite a while after hanging on the Boost mobile splash screen, but about 3 reboots later, it brought me to the configuration screen. It's up, running and I even got the OTA software update, but then again, it is stock.
