Browser back button bug?

I've pretty much been experiencing this issue since I got my Xoom, but can't find any information on it. Most of the time when attempting to use the back button in the browser it does nothing. If I press it multiple times it sometimes triggers, but I usually end up multiple pages back. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Try switching to Quick Controls, and see if the back button there exhibits the same behavior:
Browser | Settings | Labs | Quick Controls
Touch the edge of the screen to bring up the control wheel, then swipe to the back button. Does this also not register?

i rarely use the browser back i use the the back button on the notification bar and have no issues with it. if the web page has re-directs before it when you hit back it will just re-direct you to the same page

I actually use the notification bar back button most of the time too, but it is the same function. I tried the thumb controls with no luck. I think it may be just the site as the others I had issue with (all heavy JavaScript) seem to work fine now.

I've had this problem, too. At first I thought it was similar to the twitter issue on phones, where you have to mash back a few times to actually leave a twitter page, but it seems to happen any time I load a webpage with flash on it. I haven't really had a problem when it comes to pages without flash elements, but who knows if that's actually the problem.

Have you updated to the latest version of flash? It greatly increased the performance and decreased the strain it would cause on the CPU/browser.

I too am experiencing this bug. It doesn't do it for every site, but is getting more frequent. Did you find a fix for this? I I am running rooted 3.1

I've got the same thing on my Transformer, must be a bug in the browser.

I never had that problem , maybe it's because you are rooted . However , I do have this problem with gmail .

Have you all changed the browsers default (as in, by somehow changing the framework, and not the about:debug method) UA String to desktop? I have only been having this problem since I flashed someones UA String fix on my Wifi only Xoom (US). I know that changing the UA String's/browsers framework can cause some weird things to happen such as with one fix, the screen won't rotate 180° from the normal landscape view (Camera ontop and Motorola logo/name are to the top left of ur screen. Please respond if you have done a UA String change and now have the back button issue or other issues, thxs.

I have not modified the browser in any way apart from rooting.

I have that bug. Going to apps / all apps and clear cache and force close browser helps it. I have a modified UA string. But having done the mod myself, I can't see how it would mess up the back button. I'm betting bug.

It does look like a bug, but seen as there at not a huge amount of seems to make me thinks it could be fixed by wiping the browser settings. Maybe some configuration somewhere got corrupted. Is there a way, say using titanium backup, to wipe just the browser settings?

Clearing the Data and Cache for the App in settings should clear all of these, if you want to reinstall the whole browser your probably going to have to reflash your ROM and clear all data and cache.

I am having this same issue I went back to completely stock and flashed tiamat 1.4.4 and it still does it! The issue occurs in both the stock browser and Dolphin HD it is extremely annoying!

i finally found a solution if you update the host list in adfree android it causes the back button to not function properly. I reverted my host list and everything works great now! I ended up uninstalling adfree though cuz its nearly useless without host list updates

I can confirm this fix, frustrating as it is you can choose this bug or ads. I personally choosenthe bug. Maybe there will be a better fix later on, maybe something to do with the ip of the hosts file

OK, I have been messing around with this and I noticed that when the back button doesn't do anything there was an iframe ad that just refreshed the iframe.
So, I changed the ip in adfree to be a pc on my lan with an apache server. It was setup to redirect all traffic from a blank page. This stopped the iframe from refreshing. Now the back button works fine
Now, does anyone with more knowhow know of a more efficient way to sort this out? I have a wifi xoom that is always at home so it's OK for me, but for others a better solution is needed

Android 3.2 - No default picker screens!

Hi Guys,
Just hoping somebody can point me in the right direction.
I flashed to 3.01 US stock from UK in order to get the updates. I updated twice to 3.2.
What I'm noticing now is that if I click on a link, that launches an associated app (browser for instance), I used to get a screen jump up and ask which app I wanted to use. So if I'd installed Firefox, Dolphin and got Stock, it would give me the option if I hadn't yet set a default.
Since 3.2 when I click the link, the screen fades out, but the options aren't showing to select which means I can't launch the link/app.
The fix is to uninstall any relevant applications until I only have one app that can launch said link, then reinstall, and I get the option again.
Anyone had this or know how to fix without reinstalling everything?
Hope that made sense....very tired so it might not have done

I had the problem I hope u didn't set Firefox or dolphin as ur default browser what I did was erase all data now I have dolphin and the default drowser all working fine here

2) With Autorotate ON, simply rotate the Xoom so that it has to redraw the "picker" screen. Do this when the screen dims and nothing is showing up. I have found that once you do this once for any particular file type you do not need to do it a second time.
I too was reinstalling apps to get the screen to show up, but even that did not always work.

I had the same problem and it seemed to only manifest itself after I re-installed all my apps from Tiamat/Xoom Zone with Titanium Backup. I'm not sure which app was the culprit but after uninstalling Scripter and aLogcat it started working perfect.

Will certainly check these options out. Are you saying that in the first instance, when the screen dims.,...if I left it long enough, it would appear?
Has this been put to Google on their Bugs page,....as Bugs go...it's an annoying one

The Asus Transformer has the exact same problem. makes me think it could be more of a HC3.2 bug now after seeing this thread than device related.
Worse after you think you have fixed the problem every time you turn the device off and then on again on the problem begins again if you have multiple apps that can load a file or link like a web browser (I use multiple). If you have one app or set one app to be the default then you don't have the problem ....with that file or link

Factory reset will not fix this . Other browsers , media players and file managers somehow cause the problems .

However, I forgot to flash gapps while i was in recovery. How can I re-enter recovery to flash gapps. on cm10 one of the reboot options was into recovery.
I dont have access to play store as well

First you have to activate developper option, to do this go into setting/about tablet and tap several time on the build number at the bottom of the page until it say "you are now adevelopper" then go back into setting into the developper option and check "advanced reboot". This will add the optionto reboot into recovery in the power menu.

Thanks Bro, helped. However now I am having tons of force closed issues, mostly with google apps, specifically google keybrd, chrome. I have also noticed that this rom runs slower then cm10, you recommend a clean flash?
Is there any way to bring the notification and time to the bottom/right cant find it in the settings...

Those force close are caused by the neon command in the apps you are using that are not supported by our old tegra 2. Have you flashed the gapps from cm 10.1 thread or the normal gapps we can find anywhere? The gapps in the thread include fix for some of the gapps but for chrome I don't think it can be fixed. A clean flash would probably help for the speed too, but don't forget that this is about as fast as our device can get with the aging composant it include.

Thanks for the above information. I lost the recovery option on the power menu and couldn't figure out how to get it back. I needed it to load new roms as they become available. Keshemme's new roms have added new life to my k1. I am really enjoying them. Looking forward to the next WiFi only update.

I have the latest nightly and I'm having a lot of force closures as well. Mostly with YouTube, the stock browser and chrome. I flashed the gapps recommended. Any suggestions?

Recent apps button not working

Has anybody noticed that the recent apps button was working sparsely with cm10.1 experimental and now not working anymore with the nightly of 20130711?
I'm also searching where to set the wifi always on to avoid SOD.

EDIT: Recent apps button doesn't work short to medium time after booting, but starts to work after a certain time. This also occurs with 20130718 build.

I have had no problems so far. I have the 7-19 release. I did the fix for the home button by changing the values in those three files with root browser.
1: Download RootBrowser from the playstore.
2: Open it and say yes to download utilities.
3: Go to system/usr/keylayout
4: Click on gpio-keys.kl then click on open as and then click on rbtexteditor
5: Change 172 for 102 and save.
6: Open avago-pt.kl the same way, go to line 102 and change MOVE_HOME for HOME
7: Do step 6 with Generic.kl
8: Reboot.
9: Enjoy!

Few questions for you:
1. Did you make an upgrade or a clean install? I used the upgrade from 10. Could it make a difference.
2. Do you usually start your K1 from a fresh boot, or just waking it up? I'm usually turn it of at the end of the day. Would you mind trying a fresh boot, the open a app or two and see if the recent app works from an early boot.
I have the feeling that the recent app is driven by a service that takes a long time to start.
In the mean time, I rolled back to cm10. I found these few annoyances fading the few advantages of moving forward. One of these is that it seemed that my K1 was lagging a bit more when openning apps. Maybe the K1 is a little weak to get this uplift intended to newer devices.

Recent apps button doesn't work on first boot. Usually, i boot my k1, unlock it then lock it again. When you open it after it work. It simply don't work the first time you open the screen after booting but once you locked it, it will work.

Ok. Didn't catch this subtle thing myself.
Quite honestly, being a software developer I do recognize all the efforts made by kaschemme, but cm10 still appears to me like the best mix of usability, battery life all with minimal annoyances. I think cm10 brought us a way farther than what we got from Lenovo out of the box. I still watch for any update of cm10.1 but will stick to cm10 in the meantime.

I have the August 10 nightly installed and I just noticed that when I try to use my headphones they are not being detected. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there something in the settings that got changed or turned off? I have the same problem with the recent app button too.

A new attempt fOr cm10.1
The first time I tried cm10.1, I performed the update without wiping data and got a really slow K1 at the end with an unstable trebuchet. This time I managed to do a clean install with much better results. My K1 is now fast enough and trebuchet doesn't crash anymore. Not sure that updating without wiping is always a good thing then....
One thing though, the recent apps still doesn't work on first boot and need a sleep/wake up to work. Does this bug has been relayed to kaschemme? I use the recent apps a lot to navigate between apps and find the workaround quite annoying. I'm always surprised that so much users care about the mechanical home button not working while there is one always working on screen. I never use the mechanical home button. It reminds me Apple yurks iPhone.
I would post my request to fix recent apps to the dev forum but I don't have the permission yet. I would appreciate someone do it for me. I'm affraid kaschemme is now working on cm10.2 leaving this caveat open while it may be easily fixable. Other than that, I'm happy with cm10.1.

Bluetooth hid device
Hi Everyone,
I am running CM10.1 the August 10th nightly and it has worked great for me so far. :good:
However I have run in to a small snag with Bluetooth. I bought game pad to use with my NES Roms and can't seem to get it to stay connected. The pad has both a keyboard mode and game pad mode looks like it pairs correctly in the keyboard mode and it is listed under paired devices, but the connection is dropped. I pulled the cat log and see that what looks like errors due to files missing. Has anyone else had any problems with this ROM connecting to Bluetooth devices? I know there are issues with the bluetooth audio, but haven't seen any other Bluetooth issues in the forums. Attached is part of the log.

Touchscreen locks in Immersive Mode on Secondary User [KRT160] [VIDEO]

Me and my brother both use Google Play Books to read e-books. I use the Owner account whereas my brother is using a Secondary account I created for him.
Every time my brother opens an e-book, the touchscreen functions fine as along as the Immersive mode is not enabled. However as soon as it enables (i.e. Navigation bar and Notification bar disappear) the touchscreen locks out and stops responding. No matter how much I touch the screen, it remains locked. The only workaround is to use the Volume button to turn pages or hold the Power button to bring the Navigation bar back and close the Play Books app.
Device specifics:
- Asus Google Nexus 7 Wifi (nakasi)
- Android 4.4 Kitkat
- Build: KRT16O
- Using default Launcher (that was shipped with 4.4 OTA)

Please note that the user with the Blue Wallpaper is the Owner, and the user with the Red Wallpaper is the Secondary User.
In this video I first show how the screen does not respond(in Immersive Mode) in the Secondary User, then I show how the pages can still be turned using the Volume button and lastly how Immersive mode works fine when in the Primary User.
This problem also occours with MX Player.

Yes!!! I'm totally having this same exact issue. I tried removing the secondary account and remaking it. Did not work. Now, I did notice that there was a brief tutorial on the new features of KitKat on the primary account when I opened Books. I didn't see that on the secondary axcount. That's before and after the wipe of the secondary account.

So I got a response from Google. They suggested a factory reset. Unfortunately, I'm using my work tablet, and that's not an option for me. If you end up trying that, let me know if it solves your issue.

+1 here as well. I thought it was just my tablet being stupid but after reading this I decided to check using the main profile. Bloody annoying to tell you the truth. I'm the main user of the tablet anyway but can't be bothered resetting everything and changing the users over.
After seeing all the 'benefits' of upgrading to kitkat, I'll have to say, if I knew about this I wouldn't have upgraded.
My case isn't as bad though, I can still swipe to get the toolbar etc back. It's just while in immersive mode, I can't do anything.
Maybe I should just my ass into gear change the users over.

I can't believe Google actually told you to do a reset? I mean Google must have tested Immersive Mode before actually releasing it. And secondly, this problem is pretty widespread, occurs on ALL Nexus tablets including the 2013 N7 and the N10.

Google has fixed(somewhat) this problem with an update to Google Play Books Version 3.1.17+
This solution basically disables Immersive Mode on Secondary Users and uses the older LOW_PROFILE/LIGHTS_OUT mode in which the Navigation Buttons are reduced to small, circular blobs of light.
I wouldn't exactly call this a 'fix' though, because all they have done is entirely disable the buggy feature. Nonetheless, at least this makes the app usable.

Same bug here. 4.4.2 (KOT49H). Fresh system (factory image restore) without any user's staff. Immersive Mode absolutely for second account.

Can't get on screen keyboard to appear to login to Netflix.
When I press the select button, it just types a "g".
I was running Netflix just fine on Nexus Player but then yesterday it started to only play for a few minutes then fail. After lots of hassle, thought I'd factory reset and reinstall everything. I'm on 5.1.1 stock.
The onscreen keyboard doesn't display any more in Netflix app. As I stated, just types "g" instead of showing a keyboard. When i press left or right, seems I get the key next to "g", as if keyboard there but hidden. Can't move between fields easily either.
netflix support was moronic. He said that Google made the app and I needed to call Google, that they don't make apps. And how much do they pay that guy a year? too much!

I've had this same issue lately. The only way I'm able to log into Netflix at the moment is by using a bluetooth keyboard.

Thanks. I've already rolled back to 2.1. It has mostly solved the "deactivated" problem but hasn't had any effect on bringing the onscreen keyboard back.

Go to the apps and verify that the keyboard is updated. Also disable the Chinese and Korean input
