running xposed? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone who is running xposed module tell me exactly what they did? I can't install it without a bootloop and the closest I ever got was having the APK tell me that the app is not enabled or something

download v78 sdk23 arm64 and flash it. install app. should work.

What rom are you running? That's all you should have to do with stock rom. Maybe xposed doesnt work in some of the AOSP based roms because of the additional toolchains they use (over-optimizing can prevent xposed from installing/functioning properly).

You sure you are using the arm64 zip?

How long was initial boot for you? There were times where I'd get to the part that says pure nexus is upgrading and then it would stall for about 5 to 10 minutes at the 'starting apps' part and then I'd give up. Usually it would show the boot animation for the same amount of time

I just had to re-flash the rom last night and installed Xposed. I'd say less about 10 mins at the upgrading/starting apps part of the boot.

Flashed the arm64 v78 zip on my 6P running PureNexus and Chroma, worked fine on both.
You are running system root and not systemless root right? Try dirty flashing your ROM again then flash xposed.

Anybody want to try a possible fix or mitigation for random reboots?

UPDATE: don't need anyone testing this anymore as it is not fixing most reboots
Can someone who is running custom recovery and has bad/frequent reboots install the attached file and see if it alleviates your reboots?
Please let me know what version of the OS you are running and if you are on JSS15J or JSS15Q, whether you updated via factory image or OTA.
I am 99.99% sure nothing bad will happen to your system. This will not disable your ability to get OTAs, nor change any system files, nor affect touchscreen, nor affect GPS, ...

If it works, it should work ok with CM as long as you run it in TWRP.
It doesn't actually touch the ROM. It uses the kernel to reset the DDR3 memory timings and allows the system to retrain.
Thanks, I like to know what I'm flashing. Just flashed, will report back.

I'm on 15Q odex stock ROM. I never had an ota before.
I rooted and unlocked the boot loader and flash this ROM yesterday.
Just had a reboot on mine as well.
Running build 8 of this:

Ok, then it looks like this won't fix the random reboots.

im on clean rom with elemental x 1.2 and i have never had a reboot or anything bad happen since. i did have issues on stock 4.3 with small tweaks but since clean rom i have had no issues whatsoever
Edit also was on slim bean flo and had same issues so it's something messed up in the rom i would assume and not the software version it self

Marshmallow Xposed is out now!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
Its finally here! Thanks Rovo
Working great on the 5x with the few modules I have tested.
Seems to have successfully installed, we are arm64 if anyone is unsure.
Which modules are working so far?
What rom are you using? Which version of v76 did you flash?
You'll want v77 (yes, v77) arm64, guys.

Pure NeXus with ElementalX kernel.
And v76 worked for me, but it's been superseded by v77, which is also working fine.
Hmmm I have pure nexus with elemental kernel and 76 didn't work. It booted but didn't work.
V77 is working perfectly though
Anyone know of a module that allows us to change the wifi / network strength status bar icons? I prefer the look of the older icons. First few I tried couldn't make the change.
I'm using greenify. Seems to be working fine. Wondering if its necessary with doze feature

Version 78 is already out with some bugfixes. Whats the difference between SDK 22 and 23?
Should we install xposed-v78-sdk23-arm64.zip ?
Just found the answer myself:
Sdk 21 - Lollipop 5.0
Sdk 22 - Lollipop 5.1
Sdk 23 - Marshmallow 6.0
Once the "No Device Check" module is working we will be able to use Android Pay on rooted devices without having to unroot before hand. I know it's also possible to use Android Pay if you use Chainfire's Systemless Root. Unfortunately, custom AOSP ROMs don't use this root method so you either have to stay on stock rooted with the systemless root or use workarounds.
However, once this module is fully working Android Pay should work no matter what ROM/root method you choose.

FYI - GravityBox is now available for Marshmallow too.

Which version do I need for my nexus 5x to install framework?

Marshmallow and Xposed Bootloop

I've been trying for many hours to get Xposed running on marshmallow.
Steps I've taken trying on fugu-mra58k and fugu-mra58n:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot -w
fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.7.0-fugu.img
Go into twrp, send xposed-v78-sdk23-x86.zip, reboot recovery, install Xposed zip, System reboot, then it bootloops.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
You're just going to have to wait for the developer to release a newer version of Xposed for Marshmallow that isn't as buggy. I tried grabbing a logcat from a boot-looped Nexus Player after flashing Xposed v78 but did not have any success there. If you haven't already done so, run xposed-uninstaller-20150831-x86.zip in TWRP to restore your device back to normal.
Xposed v79 (SDK 23)
Xposed v79 was released yesterday and the developer says ".. I have fixed many crashes and bootloops that were reported on GitHub. It's hard to say which devices and ROMs profit from the changes. Affected devices mentioned in the issues were mainly HTC and LG, plus any devices which have activated the compiler filter "everything" for ART.".
Has anybody tested the new version (Xposed v79 - SDK 23) on their Nexus Player running 6.0+? Please let us know if the bootloop issue has been resolved. Thanks!
About to try it out now. Thing is I am going to use the latest Pure Nexus Rom. Reading thru it and a quick search doesnt mention Xposed at all. I did notice right away that SELinux is mentioned to be on Enforcing for this rom which if I recall, not a good idea for Xposed. Either way, Ill just be the test dummy, lol.
I can confirm that Xposed is up and running. Hasn't cause a bootloop even once. This is with only the Pandora Patcher and Youtube AdAway enabled. Most other modules arent needed.
Device: Nexus Player
Recovery: TWRP
Rom: Pure Nexus (Android 6.0.1 r3)
Xposed: xposed-v79-sdk23-x86 & XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk

Flashing xposed-v79-sdk23-x86 still causes my Nexus Player with Android 6.0.1 to get stuck on the Android boot animation. I tried capturing a logcat with ADB according to the instructions in rovo89's latest sticky post but my attempts to do so were unsuccessful.

Have identical issue. Also tried capturing logs and was unsuccessful.
I haven't updated to 6.0.1 yet, I'm still on "6.0.0 (MRA58N)" rooted using Chainfire's systemless-root method (SuperSU Beta v2.62-3). I will give it a try myself within this week. Hopefully it will work and I'll post here if it does. I mainly need it for Youtube Adaway.
Both 6.0 and 6.0.1 had bootloops for me with the latest Xposed x86 v79
Flashing xposed-v80-sdk23-x86 on my Nexus Player with Android 6.0.1 (MMB29T) still causes it to get stuck on the Android boot animation.
Anyone try yet v81?
v81 just installed, optimizing apps now! Boot animation takes a little longer than usual, but just wait it out and you're good.

Yes, I tried xposed-v81-sdk23-x86 on my Nexus Player with stock Android 6.0.1 (MOB30D) installed and unfortunately, it still does not boot past the Android animation screen. I left it there for over 20 minutes to make sure enough time had elapsed. This result isn't really a surprise, though, as Xposed v81 added changes for developers rather than bug fixes for end users.

With ASOP builds, it works. With stock, it doesn't.
Unfortunately, xposed-v82-sdk23-x86 still does not boot past the Android animation screen on the Nexus Player with the stock Marshmallow operating system.

I'm happy to report that xposed-v83-sdk23-x86 works with the stock Marshmallow ROM on the Nexus Player! Thank you, @rovo89. I should mention that the current versions of the YouTube AdAway module and the YouTube for Android TV app aren't working together (since most videos do not load) but I've reported the problem to @wanam along with an Xposed log so let's hope for the best and see what happens.

I'm not confident, but I think it at least requires an AOSP base without CMTE. I tried setting up Pure Nexus CMTE edition and couldn't get AP working, but I set up Pure Nexus Layer edition and it works no problems (with chmod workaround of course).
So good luck. If you try, let us know how it turns out.

Android pay lineage os?

Hi, I am currently running stock 7.1.1 on my Nexus 6P, I love Android pay. I use it nearly every day. With CM14 on my previous phone I could not use it. Do you know if there is a workaround for it? Or should I just stick with stock

The normal workaround people use involves using Magisk, Phil's SuperSU and a compatible kernel. If you do I search through the ROM threads you should find lots of posts regarding how people got Android Pay to work on their rooted phones.

I know people are using it successfully on Pure Nexus, Megapixel Rom and Cortex Rom. If Lineage has built in Super user like it's predecessor you would need to turn that off because you need to be rooted with Phil's.

I am pretty sure nothing works anymore. As long as the bootloader is unlocked, then you are screwed. This is the exact reason we need a root option without unlocking bootloader..
