Is there any way that gyroscope could be there but disabled? - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can it be that the gyroscope is IN the phone but disabled by Motorola? I can't believe that they didn't inserted it
I can't take a good panorama photo, Motorola app do the worse panorama photos I've ever done, resolution is simply ridiculous and Google camera can't make it beacause of the lack of the gyroscope
I really love my phone but sometimes I'm really disappointed

Why are some so obsessed over the need for it?! I'm pretty sure we were all takimg panoramic photos before 'gyroscopes' were in phones as well with no issues.

Believe me, you don't need gyroscope. Don't worry about it.

Why should Motorola include a Gyroscope an then disable it? This would only make sense when selling multiple devices with a different feature set based on the same hardware platform.
That's not the case with the X Play (X Style has a quite different hardware layout).

The great reason to have Gyroscope is google VR program for cardboard. I use it on nexus 5 its fantastic! So we need it!

That is not a reason 'we need it'. The vast vast majority of users and phone owners out there do not give a damn about cardboard or vr in general on their phones. Peoplr on sites like this may care about it, but the general public at large really couldn't care less right now about it.

It's a 360€ phone, why should not I deserve a gyroscope? It's very useful for panoramas, photosphere, cardboard and also for chop chop flashlightì, a very useful feature

Iphone?

Hey guys I was wondering weather the iphone4s has any features which the galaxy s3 doesn't have? including IOS 6
Just how the S3 has Pop up play, smart stay, smart alert, Social tag, wireless charging
Also i was wondering which is better the app store or the Play store?
Does the play store have more apps if you take away the 140 000 ipad apps ?

Yes, it has many. Like restricting access to your storage. Inability to expand your memory with an sdcard. No support for codecs nor flash. No customization options. Small screen. Fruit spyware on every step tracking your every move and asking you to log in with your pineapple account. Only one button. Terrible terrible glass finish that breaks from 1 meter drop. Oversaturated colors on photos. A really bad front cam. Slow 3G internet. Slow OS with a terrible interface, cartoony icons and no real multitasking and many more. Quick answer:
iPhone = like living in jail
Galaxy S3 = freedom
I am wondering...how come people fight desperately for freedom (see numerous wars on earth) but willing to be put in "jail" by using iPhone?
I do not get it?
I think people are giving the OP a hard time for no reason, he's not saying Iphone is better or that he prefers it. He just wants to know if it has anything that the S3 doesnt, it's a simple question if you have used both devices.
The S3 is definitely more powerful in terms of hardware, but how useful that is in normal day to day use is open to debate. It's also a lot more customizable as a result of running Android.
In Apple's favour, the iphone is very simple to use but that comes at the expense of flexibility. It's also a lot better supported in terms of operating system updates than any Android-based manufacturer has managed to date.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Like in the Samsung unpacked commercials leading up to the S3....stand out from the sheep! :highfive: Iphone just a status thing...look at me look at me im part of society who needs an iphone to be cool :laugh::laugh: meanwhile most people just use it for facebook. 4s was a FLOP anyway...16 months after the 4..Apple gives you that piece of junk..new screen and processor..and siri..which they purchased...nothing at all exciting.
end rant
The only advantage of Apple iPhone is that a baboon could use it. In fact I see baboons using iPhones every day.
On an of topic but related note, if the baboon at work keeps telling me to buy an iPhone because of all the great things it can do (he only ever mentions things Android can do) I may end up feeding him to a lion. I don't think the baboon has even used an Android before, he just assumes it can't be very good because it's not by Apple.

Seriously, anyone asking this question should just get an iPhone, it's simple and at their level. If you thought Siri was a killer feature then I'm afraid an Android phone will be too complex for you.

Yeah that sums it up :highfive:
Actually iPhones are far simpler to use.
Their bodymass-to-size ratio is higher so they fly far more stable than the S3 which tends to rotate due to the sheer size of it's front side.
This makes it easier to throw the iPhone out of the window without actually hitting it's glass which would be costing you even more in terms of repair and frustration.
Furthermore their mentioned compact body and higher weight allows to throw it further than any other phone.
In conclusion, this makes it the perfect device to throw out of your window before you go and buy an Android phone.
However.... I do doubt it counts as an advantage in a comparison video.

[Q] LG or Motorola?

Which watch do u want?
wait for other manufacturer
LG
I'm really proud of my Nexus 5! So ill choose the LG.
I love the N5, but the moto 360 is shown with a black chrome band. *drool*
Depends on locked bootloaders! ?
Sent via carrier pigeon!
Its too early to talk about whats going to be possible or which one is better.
Maybe the newly patented pie controls would very work good here.
music control isnt mentiond in googles trailer but since google now can handle it, i guess the watches do too. i see a maps card in the video, notifications and voice are a good start for developers. i would like to see gestures, heartrate monitor like galaxy gear 2, directions and location suggestions. floating notifications, multi layered watch-like ui controls, there are a couple things i would like to see and do with these devices.
it seems the lg watches will be water resistend? otherwise we couldnt wear it on the beach (like in google wear trailer)
i still dont know if its better to have a full featured android device with custom ui on your wrist or a stipped down version which only synces with your main droid.
i think standalone is the way to go but i can imagen battery issues.
maybe use e-ink display?
it would be great to sync while the main device is availible, but still work if its not in the area... like in the beach scenario from the trailer, without phone in your neo it wouldnt work, would it?
the moto360 looks amazing, im really looking forward to the release day
lg version is ok, cant say much without specs.
samsung galaxy gear 2 has heartrate monitor
sony smartwatch needs update
wimi has gsm standalone and android/iphone sync features
peeble uses e-ink display
android watch z1 was the first full featured android smartwatch
iconBIT Callisto 100 was the next best thing with full android
Simvalley Smartwatch AW-421.RX is full feature android too i discovered today
also it looks like china has released a bunch of new smartwatches... lets see
nice concept Smile Smartwatch http://youtu.be/Luv9X9YbxuM

I'm leaning towards the LG, but only because I love the quality of the G2 and the last two Nexus devices.
Going on just the look (I haven't seen any specs) only, hands down Moto360 easily, looks awesome, a lot smaller bezel, if the reviews are good, and battery last at least two days, I'll probably buy one if it's sub $500aud.
Oh i prefer moto of course. Cannot wait when sales starts

The "One" Thing that Sold me on the HTC M8

That one thing would be the touch latency/response time, at 46ms. This is astounding compared to the Note 3's 67ms and the iPhone 5s' 75ms.
If the S5 can come close, I'd be extremely surprised.
Touch latency makes a huge deal for the feel of a device, so it's great that HTC pulled this off!
What do you guys think of this?

Exactly. Touch latency is one big thing that keeps me on iOS. It makes the entire user experience SO much smoother, and it's even more noticeable when typing or navigating quickly.
I wonder if it's the same on the GPE though? That's my model of choice, but if it'll have more latency I wouldn't want to get one.

What is your disappoinment about the N6?

Post your disappointments about the N6. My disappointments are as follows:
display
quality build and design
camera
no phablet features
My biggest disappointment is that I don't have it yet, even though I preordered it from Google Play, and had the earliest ship-by date they offered (11/21).
Otherwise, I can't really say (see above), but from what I'm hearing, the Ambient Display bug (accidental app activation, butt dialing, etc.) is my biggest concern. Also, the way that Google forces 3rd party apps to shutdown and lock the screen, Smart Lock is effectively disabled when using such an app (like Gravity Screen). That's a lollipop thing though, not really N6, so I'm not sure that counts.
None.

No offense, but it almost sounds like you didn't know what you were getting yourself into or that your expectations were based on a comparative product. . . or that you work for a manufacturer for a comparative product.

Display. Over saturated and yellowish tint are not my cup of tea. Resolution and brightness are fine but I don't think I'll be able to get used to the super saturated colors and the white color balance.
Non oleophobic front glass? My nexus 5 and iPhone 6+ have screens that are much more greasyphobic than this. This guy requires constant wiping on front and back.
Battery life. Having to carry this monster around I'd rather had impressive battery life. This guy's battery life is average.
Those are my main gripes about the device. There is lots to like.
Thread lightly, I mean tread lightly with this post its soon to get closed.
So far its only that the buttons are at the middle. I prefer them at the top right
The fact that I don't have it yet.

I'll give you display and camera (even though good counter arguments can be made for either), but..
What is wrong with the build quality and design? This is one of the best designed phones lol. Do you have the device? Have you encountered any problems in build quality? Any evidence to back it up?
Phablet features like what? Multi-window? We're getting that soon. What else?
It would be nice if you could explain yourself.

Best designed phone according to whom? To you? Where did you read we are we getting the phablet features? Got sources?
I haven't played with one yet and I don't intend on buying until I do so maybe my opinion will change once I actually play with one -- but my biggest disappointment with the Nexus 6 is its price tag, followed by its size. This phone simply does not offer enough to justify its flagship price tag. It lacks expandable storage and removable battery which should be deducted from the price as other similarly priced flagship phones have one or both of them. Before you say, "That's been a staple with the Nexus line the entire time..." yeah, so were their undercutting prices which justified the phones not having expandable storage or removable battery. $350 for a Nexus 5 was perfectly acceptable because it lacked expandable storage and removable battery. Secondly, the Nexus line has repeatedly been plagued with shoddy cameras and battery life that are simply not on par with flagship phones, let alone any phone within their price range. I'm sure this phone takes better photos than the Nexus 5, but it does not take better photos than the Note 4 or the Xperia Z3, and definitely not the iPhone 6 (that's a tough one to beat no matter what). If this phone was priced at $450-$500, then I can justify jumping to one.
The Xperia Z3 is about the perfect size for me, but I can tolerate going as big as the Note 4. The Nexus 6 is just a mammoth of a phone, and I'm sure watching videos on it is great. But I dont buy a phone to watch videos and play games -- I have a tablet for those purposes. Additionally, with something like a phone, I'd like for it to comfortably fit in my back pockets without it sticking out and without requiring a pair of JNCOs to hold it. I carry my phone with me everywhere (as do most people), I do not want to lug around a freaking phablet everywhere. I think they should've eased into a 5.5" screen size first. Making such a huge jump is a shock to the senses, lol.
I know the phone is a great piece of hardware, but it's certainly not for me as expensive and big as it is. I'll most likely be skipping it.

I ask because you spend a large amount of time slamming the device and praising the Note 4, in multiple threads. Usually when someone owns a device they don't dedicate so much time to dogging on it and creating multiple threads about how much they hate it. They usually sell it and go buy the device they want.
It's classic troll bait activity. That's why I ask.

I want to turn most sensors off. Can the display waving and flashlight wrist flick activation, etc be turned off? That seems like battery wasting stuff and can activate when not intended as well. There are many more smarter features in Moto X than the wrist flick which dumb Samsungs can't offer. You would know how useful they are only when you would start living with a MotoX. Best of luck. And turning any Moto specialty feature off not gonna give you any significant gain in battery life so no sense in turning off any feature for the sake of battery atleast.

I prefer the stuff off. Especially with a fixed 3000mah battery. Personal choice The build, 64gb storage, sd, no bloat, no Samsung UI, front stereo speakers and the price- will suffice
Hoping also the more powerful CPU helps with emulators. The GPU is a tad weaker, but less power consumption than the 805 and games play smooth as butter on the G4. The UI on the G4 though, not so much.

Honestly, the amount of battery that will save is next to nothing. But as far as the original question of the thread, yes you'll be able to disable most if not all of them
XT1060
Of course anything is tune-able! You might need to root it but yes, you can change it. Also it will not save a lot of battery.
I've never owned a Moto device so I kust say I'm really looking forward to using all these features. They are not gimmicky like most of the crap on my Samsung devices.
